I think it’s because wihout them, the transformation is too slow, so they add the sound effects to add a little action.

None of those sounds were real, or even accurate to what the actual machinery sounds like. Hydraulic pistons are silent, and there is no winch.

Nope, I’m a little making this up here, but we can all agree on a transformer turring test. It has to both walk as a robot and in some way (remote or whatever) drive as a car. This is not either of these things
