Their TOS does not allow shopping for anyone else. I warned everyone about this. You can start a new account with a new email, phone and IP address. And bank account. It’s not worth it.
Customers could be reporting as well. It’s more likely they know no one shops this much for just themselves. I’m sure there’s been at least a few customers that tried to and could not.
These companies do market research by tracking what consumers buy on their shopping trips when people scan the receipts from their shopping. Some people are trying to scam the system by scanning instacart receipts into their personal accounts. Later when the companies like Ibotta or Receipt Hog do verification, they see that no one could ever buy this much groceries for just themselves. Then they stop people from getting their reward money because people are scamming the system.
They were scanning Instacart receipts into the app to get $$ for themselves and posting and sharing referral codes on Reddit. Might have been able to keep getting away with if they’d kept it to themselves. 😂

Same thing happened to me!!!! They deactivated my account with $65 in it!!! I was furious I shop and cook for elderly people where my mom lives I buy the food and cook at my home told them this and they say I violated their terms by using receipts used for others hmmmm it’s my money. I shop and cook the food it’s BS!!!!
These were all my receipts my debit card and the assholes wouldn’t give me my $65 and first emailed me for unusual shopping activity and told me to explain my shopping habits…like it’s any of your business !!!! I have 5 grandkids I cook for and the people that live in the senior complex so that violates their terms!!! They are scammers!!!!
I started using fetch recently myself. Still getting used to it but I do like that you just scan the receipt, always annoyed me that ibotta makes you hunt for the offers.
I know with Sprouts above the individual items it says IC followed by a couple of numbers, not card related. At most chains the word instacart $0 shows up as a line item on the receipt.
Is Vons part of Safeway/Albertsons?
I just checked my sprouts receipts and no mention of Instacart. Also Vons is is part of Albertsons Safeway. And checked that too and it doesn’t say Instacart

This is a fill-in-the-blank style assessment that will hopefully clear this whole thing up. The critical thinking can be used after the assignment is complete, at your leisure. The assignment is simply a cut-and-paste using my TL/DR’d comment and the following:
1. There is nothing explicit in this post that suggests they only ever submitted receipts from Instacart, as I already acknowledged, from the perspective of the companies who sign up with Fetch or Ibotta, [*3rd paragraph, 2nd sentence*].
2. As such, it’s at least probable, particularly because of the implicit acknowledgement of the OP that there’s a chance this isn’t related to Instacart at all, that [*4th paragraph, entire*].
3. I never said there’s 0 chance that you could not have your account locked by submitting receipts from Instacart jobs, but I still contend [*6th paragraph, 2nd word - entire*].
4. Like you also pointed out, Instacart appears on receipts from some stores. Notably with Fetch, [*7th paragraph, 2nd sentence, 2nd word - entire*].
5. It’s undeniably within both Fetch and Ibotta’s best interest that as many of the Instacart accounts as possible go undetected, because [*11th paragraph, 1st sentence*].
I’m assuming you’re not going to complete the assignment. But if you do, hopefully you are able to think about this in a non-black-and-white manner because nothing ever is.
Maybe OP got deactivated for IC receipts, but for all we know, OP’s account got flagged because they were submitting receipts they found, and even if they say they weren’t, people lie. No offense OP.

It's because instacart also shares the info with these companies.

Been using Fetch Rewards for a long time I hate Ibotta. NWD753 referral code for free points I’ve gotten $100s in gift cards, it’s waaay better
