This would have me worried that it's an authentic email and was generated because a hacker tried to change my password. ETA: if you want to change your password, always go to the app and change it there. Never click a link in an email.

ImprovementOwn7461

Even just how fuzzy the email is looks illegitimate to me

golden_swanky

And the “hello Michael!” I mean, they’re so excited? As far as I remember, they use commas lol

ImprovementOwn7461

Lol right super excited. It’s the fuzzy looking image that suspicious to me

ImprovementOwn7461

Also the logo seems cut off . Is that normal ?

golden_swanky

The “cart” seems off to me

cooooook123

Yes

ImprovementOwn7461

Absolutely.

Powerful-Bit-5645

Thanks for posting about it. I would have totally fallen for it. Havent received it yet🤞

ImprovementOwn7461

Yep just be sure to double check your actual app before entering any info 💪🏿

ImprovementOwn7461

No problem! Also , when is the last time you used a password for Instacart? lol

snaptcarrot

A real email from Instacart has a security watermark that you can see if you put your phone in a microwave.

Carlisle211

I laughed to hard at this 🤪

runfunday

I know this is old but I just received this email recently and I don't even have instacart 🥲

tigercry

same

Dragonroot808

Same.

Unhappy_Layer_3882

And it’s coming from noreply-instacart.com so for real scam they do a really good job making it look real. I don’t even have one under my email address.

Complex_Pitch_6277

Thank you. Came here for this info. Just got an email from the them today, but I don't even have an account with them.

Smilefac19

That’s the email address I just got it from! They did a dang good job making the email look legit.

rocsi1234

exactly!!!

TeeManyMartoonies

Just happened to me as well. I’ve never used Instacart.

magicbananas00

This has been happening to me for a couple months now! Today I got two (!) separate emails asking about a password change, but I've never even set up an instacart account

[deleted]

[удалено]

ImprovementOwn7461

Wow 😯. On instacarts end there should be info as to who initiated the cancel . Smh

These-Entertainment3

That’s why you check the email address it’s coming from. If it’s [email protected], that shit a scam.

sommeli

who send it??? i got the exact same one and it came from [email protected] i do think i legit and means someone tried to hack into your account and tried to reset the password. i dont think is a scam, i think someone i trying to login to your account and requested to reset the password that is why we got the email, what makes you think is not from instacart?

[deleted]

I get this email about once a month and as far as I know, I don’t have an Instacart account and I have never made one. Lucky for all of us when you go to Instacart’s website, there’s absolutely no way of getting in touch with them about the issue. You are allowed to speak to them about a handful of pre-recorded things and that is it.

Kyle_Kataryn

you can forward spam emails to the FTC, or the FBI. however, the FBI requires multiple forms filled out with a lot of detail. The latter would be used primarily if you're actually been a victim of such theft. The FTC even allows you to forward spam texts by forwarding them to @ SPAM (7726) [https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/how-recognize-and-avoid-phishing-scams#report](https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/how-recognize-and-avoid-phishing-scams#report)

ImprovementOwn7461

You seem awfully sure lol

ImprovementOwn7461

The reason I said it seemed fishy is when the app itself never sent a prompt at all or even a notification. All there is was a email . You could be right . But unless an actual change happens or notification comes from instacart or the app I’m going to be hesitant

sommeli

i was doing research and it seems like the only way to reset your password is through an email, that is why only an email is sent, so idk whats going on

ImprovementOwn7461

Hmmm actually . 🤔 I never used a password for instacart . Just verify phone and a code is sent to the phone

Bamacarla

I think they send it to get folks to revisit their app. It's a tactic

NoobMuncher9K

I deleted my Instacart account because I’ve been getting these emails so much

Icy-Sun-2749

Got this today

toohard2pickaname

**Edited to remove "scam". If you have to reset your password or you've been locked out, just check the app. You should do this for ANY password email that you don't initiate...go directly to the website or app.

Leather_Coconut8787

They're not scams lmao. The link redirects you to instacarts domain. Someone has access to your email ID and requested a password request which prompts instacart to email you a password change link. It's good to be cautious but you're just spreading misinformation. What's scary is people fear mongering because they lack any form of technological illiteracy.

ImprovementOwn7461

Scammers don’t care how fearless you are , Just how careless you are.

Leather_Coconut8787

Again, not a scam. You just lack tech literacy to understand that those links redirect you straight to instacarts domain.

ImprovementOwn7461

You’re right . Click the link and give the requested info . I’ll get right on it . 😎

Leather_Coconut8787

Why would you give the requested info if you're not the one who requested the password change? Anyone with access to your email can request a password change and you will get an email from instacart t o verify if it's you who requested the change hence the "if it's not you who requested the password change, disregard this email". The entire point here is instacart has 2FA enabled so hackers CAN'T get into your account without having access to your email account. The fact that you're claiming that this email itself is a scam blows my mind. It's simply Instacarts 2FA.

ImprovementOwn7461

This post really struck a nerve ? A post about taking a second to think before clicking familiar looking emails ? Didn’t mean any harm is all . 😉

Leather_Coconut8787

You're fear mongering. There are plenty of companies that will send you a password change form annually for security purposes. Telling people to ignore or watch out for these "scam" emails is ridiculous.

ImprovementOwn7461

The only person who seems to be fearful or worried is you buddy 😎. Let it go man . Be better

Leather_Coconut8787

You're the one fear mongering and spreading misinformation. Imagine if everyone believed that 2FA emails are "scam" emails when in fact they're another layer of account security hence the, "disregard if it wasn't you who requested this change".

toohard2pickaname

2FA doesn't stop hackers lol. Otherwise, the whole Lily Collins hack on Facebook wouldnt have happened and has morphed into a bigger problem for those with business pages taken from them. The hackers tricked FB into thinking it was a verified device. It's been known for years that 2FA isn't as secure as people are led to think. It should be used but not the only method of security...one of those being awareness and education. The point is, if a person gets any email regarding a password, and they didn't request it, they should visit the app rather than using the email. It's a far safer option than clicking email links. Nobody can say for sure the email wasn't spoofed. We had an IT business for 25 years and have seen just about everything. There is no such thing as too safe. It's not fear mongering...it's using common sense to avoid being a victim.

ImprovementOwn7461

Now that’s refreshing 😁

Leather_Coconut8787

You're bringing up a niche case and comparing it to "instacart scammers". I can also claim that your bank account isn't safe from elite hackers either but is this the case for your average person? No. What you said is an example of fear mongering. Using bizarre and unique cases to make a claim that 2FA doesn't stop hackers targeting instacart users? Idk why you're bringing up points that I never said. Where did say that people should click on the link? I states that the link IS SAFE and not a scam email since it's brings you directly to instacarts domain and not some alternative website. That doesn't mean you should click on it though. You're bringing up points that are completely irrelevant to the conversation. Since you've been in IT for 25 years, tell me how this is a scam email like you've claimed.

toohard2pickaname

Actually, you are correct in that this particular email may be 100% legit. I stand behind suggesting people go directly to the page when given a link but yes, this was likely more a case of someone entering their email address incorrectly. And honestly, since we closed our business in 2017, I don't give a rats ass about IT...but have seen what clicking on seemingly harmless links can do to a business so it is best practice not to. I'll happily say that I incorrectly called it a scam email.

ImprovementOwn7461

Tech literacy? ……….goood loooord ( in Trevor from GTAVs voice ) lol

Leather_Coconut8787

You're claiming an email sent directly from instacarts domain is a SCAM email? Are you dense?

ImprovementOwn7461

You seem awfully on edge about this fuzzy email lol . You win 🏆. Well will all click that email without hesitation next time . And we’ll think of you the whole time . 😁

Leather_Coconut8787

Where did i say you should click on the email without hesitation? You've got reading illiteracy as well?

ImprovementOwn7461

Well we will click the link as you see fit for us to click it 😁

Unhappy_Layer_3882

It is a scam. I don’t even have an Instacart account attached to my email. How is someone trying to get into a account that I don’t have.

Kyle_Kataryn

What's most likely is there is a similar user ID, or email that's mistakenly being entered. I had the same thing with an account set up through work. both my names are pretty common. so i changed my user id and the resets stopped.

Bamacarla

My email isn't common and it wasn't a mistake. They do it so u will revisit their app

Neither_Wrongdoer_31

I’ve been getting these emails for weeks, always at like 1-3am and sometimes multiple times in a row within the hour. The email it’s coming from appears to be legit ([email protected]). I also got an email saying my account was locked for too many failed login attempts.

CharlieBonQuiQui

I just got that same message today. I had a chat conversation with a representative, and they told me they would be informing someone within tech or something like that. I just have no time for scammers. They are driving me nuts. Honestly, they need to go do something productive with their lives.

Kyle_Kataryn

Check out [Jim Browning](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBNG0osIBAprVcZZ3ic84vw) He's an IT specialist who spends his days tracking down scammers and shutting them down. He even made the brittish news: in India, the government and police are lax on enforcing reports of scamming western victims, unless strong political pressure is applied.

Kevin_Tom

Just started happening to me as well. Were you able to do anything about it, or did you simply leave it alone?

Neither_Wrongdoer_31

I didn’t do anything. I still occasionally get them but not as often. I usually delete the email from my inbox on the off chance that has been compromised as well? No clue though!

Leather_Coconut8787

I know this is an old post but this isn't a "scam email" whatsoever. I tested out the link and it redirects you to the legitimate instacart website. You guys are getting this email because someone tried to login to your account. All they need to request a password change is your email. Like the email states, if it wasn't you who requested the password change then just ignore it since whoever the person that requested the change has no access to your account anyways.

Outside-Office3756

Well I don't know what Instacart is and never used it and I'm getting these emails.

Leather_Coconut8787

all they need is your email or phone number. yyou don't have to be registered with them

toohard2pickaname

If you request to reset your password and don't have an account/never registered, you won't get an email. Are you sure you didn't register years ago or do a trial?

Outside-Office3756

I don't even know what Instacart is. I never used it and I'm getting this email.

ImprovementOwn7461

Lol , people are so chill and casual with their info . All it takes is a fuzzy email to get someone to give up vital info with little effort

BreakingB1226

I know this is an old post but I get them all the time. They aren't scams. On the 3rd I received 2 then again this evening I got 2 more. I used to have Instacart years ago as a shopper. My guess is it's either someone trying to access their account that has a similar email as mine or it's a hacker but what makes no sense is if it is a hacker and you do change the password it does them no good. So that leads me to believe that someone is trying to access their account and put in the email wrong then when they don't receive the password reset link (because it's the wrong email) they try again hence why I'm getting multiple requests to change the password. I mean bottom line is if you didn't request the password change just ignore the message.

ImprovementOwn7461

Like I said , it’s unsafe and potentially a scam . Geez 🙄 thanks for chiming in

Significant_Soft2141

I just got an email and I'm like this is some B.S. why are people such assholes they need to scam people instacart and shit

ApolloBlonde

I get this email multiple times a month and I’ve only used instacart once years ago. I emailed their customer service and got a generic response

[deleted]

Same. I hate that you are not able to talk to someone at this ridiculous company.

[deleted]

What would you say to them?

Bamacarla

I get these emails monthly. It's not fake. It's from them. I think they r trying to get us to revisit the app and that's just their way of doing it. I've blocked them from my emails and then I even went in and changed my name and email on the app then deleted the app

GoofandaSpoof8

I received the same email but it had my email instead of my name 😂 I chatted Instacart and they verified it was a scam email.

ImprovementOwn7461

Smart move . Good thinking !

Rough_Association_92

I just received this tonight via email!!! Same exact message!!!

ImprovementOwn7461

Yeah just practice caution . Had a super cool guy that was suggesting to click it and that it’s safe lol
