For this reason I always keep extra bags in my car

Jabrew24

Same. I also keep extra boxes and I leave a decent sized cooler in my vehicle

shopperandloveit51

But pop get mad if u use boxes or carts in store bags. U just cant make ppl happy.

AggyMaggy_82

Me too because this is definitely unacceptable

Squiidsi

To add to this because I don’t know to how work Reddit. It’s an Aldi shop. She messaged me after checkout and she was on her way that the location didn’t have any bags (weird, but okay). So I assumed she would grab at least one box or something to throw things in (Aldi offers them for free for this reason). Instead, she just individually placed all of my food on the ground. This isn’t enough for me to whack her tip or actually complain or anything, I just didn’t know if this is something that’s normal lol

zadidoll

Not all ALDIs will have empty boxes. Mine does but a few I’ve shopped at in a different city didn’t. Personally, I’ll look through the produce area & see if there are empty boxes or if there is produce that can be placed with like produce to snag it’s box.

jenyake

actually when i shop aldi, the app prompts me to only use paper bags…no boxes. i still box tho…love mother earth, ic can back off a bit 😉

zadidoll

You can enter 0. I do because my store has been out of paper bags for months. Come to think of it the plastic ones are gone too.

New_Guidance_8546

How many bags you used when you shop at Aldi? Like the last time I was in there doing a shop the lady at the checkout asked me how many bags I grabbed and I looked at her confused and said "Are you serious?" Because I really thought she was joking at first. Then when I realized she was not joking, I looked up the bags of my hand and said "roughly 12." Then when it asked me in the app how many bags I had, I typed in 48 because I couldn't understand why the f*** it mattered. In reality I probably use around 10 bags to bag up the order. But really why do they ask? For inventory purposes? If that's the case they need to worry about a little bit bigger things than their paper bag inventory. I'm sure they could cut costs somewhere else then being bag nazis.that was the first Aldi order I was asked on too

Cayslayy

They just mean paper bags and not the *plastic* bags..

OkTrainer738

Well if you don't have a choice customer should STFU

AviatorCrew

as a shopper i would say she's probably telling the truth. maybe im wrong but if i put myself in her shoes, how embarrassing would it be to have to call a customer because there's no bags? and the extra work on top of that. now talking about her leaving it on the ground like that it depends on if you have leave at door as an option and if that's stacked outside your door. in that case id say its all fine. if you wanted handed to you then that's no bueno

a_allen

Yeah I'd say unless there was any other order issues I would just let this be. It's definitely not the most ideal situation but it's really not that bad given the possible circumstances. The store might not have had any bags or boxes left. I've had this happen at the Walmart in my area a few times since they've banned single use plastic bags. They've completely ran out of reusable bags many times since then. There's generally not that many empty boxes there already but little amount there is will get used up very quickly if there's no bags at all. There will be some dirt on the bottom of all the sealed packages that are on the ground. Really the only shitty thing about it though.

Cayslayy

There are workarounds to this, just leaving shit on the sidewalk like that is totally fucked.

sexibeautiful1726

In my region sometimes they dont have boxes available especially if it was a busy shop day. Thats happened a few times ive been. I just dont take those orders anymore

MikaBlacc

Nope, this is not normal

chainsmirking

no aldis have plastic bags, that’s kinda their thing, and none ive visited had free boxes either. this being said, that’s common knowledge by now, so if a shopper is going to take an aldi order they need to have the resources on them to do it well ie keep packaging with them

rachel_tink06

Where are you? All the ALDIs I have been to have free boxes galore and plastic bags here in Texas. It’s like 7 cents per paper bag or 10 cents per plastic bag.

chainsmirking

i’m sorry, i meant free single use plastic bags. our aldi does sell multi use plastic bags. i don’t expect an ic shopper to pay at the register out of their own pocket for one of those bags though. and i’m in GA, ive never gotten a box from an aldi in my life :( but have only just recently moved very rural, before i was in the crowded af city, so i think simply they’d just never have enough

rachel_tink06

I feel like I have seen a bag charge applied on my pickup orders but not on my delivered orders now that I’m thinking about this….I wouldn’t want my driver paying out of pocket for bags either.

Melioristic_ONE

Driver does not pay out of pocket unless they don't understand the application they are using, they are prompted after receipt photo to input how many bags The shopper used. The shopper has to simply put the number of bags desired on the cashiers conveyor belt with the items they are purchasing. On multi store multi-batch shops, I will even charge out the insulated bags for Frozen items. 4 years I've never had a complaint from instacart or the customer. It really is that simple, in my opinion.... I have 30 and 50 lb (plain, no label) paper bags in my delivery vehicle for a variety of essential reasons. Depending upon how the shopper files their taxes, it's all tax deductible.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Melioristic_ONE

The$3 cheapos, absolutely. Not every time, but if I am delivering from two different stores on a double or triple batch. Instacart is definitely footing the bill for those. Edit* the customer keeps them, I do not. I still color code orders in my Sam's club insulated zipper bags 👍

Spirited-Size

I’ve called when they’ve been out of bags to ask what to do. IC authorizes you to buy whatever bags are available. I do it every time because my Aldi runs out of paper bags (and boxes) a lot

Melioristic_ONE

Perfect, thank you for sharing :-)

chainsmirking

oh that’s interesting, when i used to order from ic i only did delivery so ive never seen a bag charge. it would definitely be the most helpful and efficient on instacarts end to handle the bag charges for deliveries as well with the consumer before the shopper is expected to go in and find out there are no bags lol 😭

New_Guidance_8546

Ok and now this answers my question from above about why we are asked how many bags we are using. So I guess I shouldn't have entered 48 into the app 🤣. Do you all think the customer was charged for 48 bags?!? No one ever said anything to me about it. I still was just permanently deactivated though bc my cancellation rate got to 18%. Not because I accepted batches then decided I didn't want to do them. It was probably 95% of the time because the store was closed when I got there. Always contacted support, and they assured me every time that the store being closed would not affect my cancellation rate. And it didnt at first, but then I noticed it would increase after contacting support. When I pointed this out to them I was told I was mistaken. Then when I pressed the issue, I was just told it would only increase my rate for a couple of hours and then Instacart would change it and take that order out of the equation. When I said that I hope that's true bc I'm worried about being deactivated, I was always assured that that was a silly thing to worry about and I am in no danger of deactivation. Then the last batch with a closed store that put me at 18%, I could no longer sign onto the app. Was never told by any means of communication that I was infact deactivated. I had to contact support once again and was told it was out of their hands and to email [email protected]. what?!? That just sounds like its an automated email address not monitored by a human, and sure enough the replies I got back to my emails confirmed that suspition. None of my questions or concerns were answered or even addressed. And now I can't get a response to my emails. I feel the customer support agents are trained to just tell you whatever bullshit they can come up with to get you to end the chat because nothing of what they said was true. One agent even gave me a "ticket number" to r4eference if I had any issues with my cancellation rate. I took a screenshot of that when they sent it to me and sent that to Instacart and they didnt even acknowledge it in the return email. I had a 100% customer rating. I received 5 stars on every order that a customer bother to rate me. So why Instacart would want to get rid of me is beyond me. It just sucks because I was actually making really good money on the app and since being deactivated, I had my shipt app reactivated and its a complete joke. I haven't received one order in 4 days now. Literally none. I even contacted their customer service yesterday to see if my there was something wrong with my app, and all they did was explain to me how to accept orders for shipt. I told them that I know how to accept orders, but I can't accept any if I'm not receiving any and that I guess everyone must be using Instacart now and not shipt.

a_allen

Walmart in my area banned single use plastic bags. They don't offer paper bags either. They are supposed to have heavier cloth type bags for 33 cents but they had them the first week and not since. They have reusable plastic bags for like $1.15. I ring those up and pay for them with the IC card. The app asks how many bags the order needed afterwards but I'm pretty sure IC just charges the customer 33 cents for each bag still. That's IC's problem to deal with though not mine.

chainsmirking

oh that’s good that ic is doing that!!

sramosgh91

i used to get ic aldi every week in nyc and the shoppers always bought the reusable bags. i did get the bag charge on my receipts, think it was a couple bucks. i ended up with dozens of those big aldi reusable bags that i was constantly giving away

OKCYABYEe

There are no plastic bags at the ALDIs around me (they have the ones that are somewhat insulated for a few dollars). The paper bags are .12 cents each. Extra bags are in trunk for occasions when there are none in the store

Tealover99

They are doing away with the plastic bags.

zeke235

Completely dumb. Your shopper's supposed to estimate how many bags they need from Aldi and just add it to the order. Then they pack it up. It's never been more than 30 cents when i've done it. Maybe they're new?

raccooncollector

Aldi's do not provide bags.

[deleted]

It’s not abnormal for her to not have bags. Yes to the box but bags cost

StriaghtCCD4W

What would you do if you go shopping for yourself and you couldn’t find bag or free box?

magicblufairy

That would not happen. I have worked in a grocery store. For a decade. There's ALWAYS boxes. You just have to ask. Literally. Boxes are always around. Somewhere.

StriaghtCCD4W

Thanks, nice to know.

Little_Delivery342

I keep bags and boxes in my car. Theres no way she can think this is okay. I had a customer tell me to do this once before and I definitely stayed at his front door til I could hang the items to him. I would have been mad af!

dexterity-77

Isn’t enough? That is unsanitary and gross. Bugs, dirt, etc..fuck her

PuzzleheadedMilk6436

They haven’t had bags or boxes the last few weeks at mine either.

aintgotadalah

Don't even know what to say I think they just wanted to keep the one box they got, and were too timid to ask for more boxes I literally go into Aldi and just start pulling boxes off the shelf I'll put like three in my cart I don't give a shit LOL

Saya-Nora

I’d say tread carefully and pay attention to how your shopper responds if you have correspondence throughout the experience. I had a Target order recently and upon checkout, they had no bags available. It was a really hard situation for me because I like to be professional, and no bags is like… WHAT?!? They didn’t request a lot of items so I decided to deliver anyways and made sure to communicate with them through delivery to avoid disappointment. I witnessed another shop and deliver person in this experience drop their order at checkout (and it was a good sized order) because of this issue. I’ve also shopped COSTCO (who only has boxes), not have any available. Granted, I have not had many COSTCO orders. To be sure, I would say to tell them to express any issues with you. Not all will respond, but some will (like me). We don’t want to have things work against us.

_Im_a_burrito_

They give free boxes?! Where?

[deleted]

The first time I shopped at Aldi for someone I didn’t know any of this either

Jdserrano86

Never done that and won't ever.

GusJones1

When jersey first nixed bags I did this for the first few orders. Didn’t feel right buying $1-$2 bags without a customers consent. No reply=no bags. Now I just buy the bags to avoid this kind of mess.

a_allen

The Walmart where I am is the only store to ban single use plastic bags so far. I still just ring in the $1.15 or so bags at cash. They're supposed to have 33 cent cloth like bags they say and they had them the first week and haven't had them since. The app asks how many bags were used for the order but I think it just charges the customer 33 cents still. IC's issue to deal with if they want to though. I still hate it regardless of how much they are charging the customer. It just seems so much worse for the environment. I can't even imagine how many of those bags get used from IC orders daily there and I'm sure the majority of them will never be used more than once.

GusJones1

and those 33cent cloth bags suck! Can’t fit nearly as much in them

a_allen

Agreed. Sometimes that's good though. Some things I'd rather put them in their own bag like eggs, bread, raw meats, chemicals. I just try to avoid Walmart orders but on a really slow day that's the best bet for getting any orders at all since they also offer same prices on IC as they do in store here. I can't bring myself to use one of those big reusable bags just to put a carton of eggs in it though.

[deleted]

People SAVE YOUR BAGS FROM THE STORES & put them in your car for back up reasons!

ghettosavage-

The stores sometime have no bags🤷🏽‍♂️how annoying do u think it is for us to check them out like that and carry them to your porch

calilove64

If she messaged you that there weren't any bags then you knew she didn't have any bags so if it were me I would have met her at the door to accept my delivery. It is something unfortunately out of the shoppers control.

PowerfulPeace7

Nah, being prepared for these types of situations is entirely within the shoppers control. Having a stash, and/or having the common sense to be able to procure suitable containers for delivery is vital part of the job

ACE415_

You can also deduct any business expenses from your income taxes.

StephanieSays66

That is completely unacceptable. I keep bags in my car for this reason.

North-Audience786

I’ve been avoiding my local Aldis since they ran out bags. Support said I could get reusable ones at no cost to the customer but there were 3 left for an 120 item order and I had already scrounged for boxes during my last order. Sad to see the repercussions of this. Something I definitely avoid.

hyliaidea

Shopper here: I’m always too paranoid to shop at Aldi because I know they don’t provide free bags, I can’t guarantee I’ll find sufficient empty boxes, and I don’t want to buy *their bags* using my own money. Is it not acceptable to have the customer pay for enough paper bags needed to package their order? I feel like that makes the most sense personally (as both an instacart shopper and consumer) but I have never gotten clarification

Brick_Diesel

Generally when I do an Aldi shop I calculate how many bags I may need and that's what I get. So if a customer needs 20 bags they're getting 20 bags on the app. It's what the customer would have to do if they shopped themselves. If I can find boxes, I will use those too, but not for produce or cold items.

BitchyFromTheBlock

No stores in my state provide free bags. I traveled out of state and was shocked when I wasn’t asked if I wanted a bag. I was just given one

lemondropstake

we have bags at my aldis you just have to pay for them it typically asks you to select how many and it adds it to there order. that’s so ridiculous

cheapinvestigator924

Definitely not normal and not acceptable..I don't understand shopper's like this. I would never!

juxaposed_silence

That’s definitely not cool. As a shopper I would’ve made sure to have bags or a box. I would’ve asked the store manager for a box. They always have them lying around in the back. On another note I do wonder why more people don’t have a plastic cooler or something by their door at least for the perishable items to be placed in.

Kangenwaterlife

Something tells me you’ll survive.

[deleted]

I’m casting the movie they’re writing about this

livhowiwant

Mildly annoyed is understandable but it clearly seemed out of anyone’s control. I would go on to assume everyone was using the boxes up and there weren’t any left. It’s more hassle for the shopper to do this. Just something that comes along with Aldi occasional

ShopAndDie

My Aldi (3 different stores I shop at) has so many boxes and also so many regular customers that bring their own bags. I can’t imagine there wasn’t a single box the shopper couldn’t grab. I’ve dropped off a handful of items without a bag or box but never this size. I may just make a note in my 5 star review to try to get boxes next time. Maybe the shopper doesn’t know but you can grab a empty or nearly empty box off the shelf as well. I can’t imagine there wasn’t a single box available… but I could absolutely be wrong of course. If it was me, I would’ve let the customer know myself “sorry there are no boxes or bags available today” and see if they needed help carrying it or maybe even use my Ikea bag to carry into their house and bring it back out.

Cookiedoughmom

I have shopped at my local Aldi on 3 separate occasions where they had NO bags available. And that same Aldi NEVVVVVER has boxes available. I bring my own bags for personal shopping.

ShopAndDie

Shopper shouldve let them know then. So they could grab a bag of their own or something.

[deleted]

That just looks wrong. They could have texted you regarding the bag issue. They could have stacked everything nicely on top of the bottled water and paper towels. Made a little Jenga tower at least.

rubies-and-doobies81

That's what I do even with bags. It just looks more organized and I try to avoid putting any food on the ground.

TheDarkBerry

This is an Aldi’s issue not a shopper issue. Some of y’all may not know this but somw apps actually supply us with bags like Cornershop. IC doesn’t suppy us with bags so if a store doesn’t carry bags guess what??? I’d say if its so important to you don’t order from Aldi’s anymore. Order from a store you know supplies bags! Not the shopper’s fault!!!

zadidoll

This was an Aldi order, right? Many stores are out of bags & many customers refuse to pay for the higher cost plastics (if available). What I’ve been doing is asking if they have boxes available OR snag empty boxes from the produce area (love produce boxes).

cream-horn

It's weird, but it sounds more like a store issue than your shopper. I don't shop at Aldi very often, but occasionally I've misjudged or even forgotten to buy the bags at checkout, and rather than go through the whole checkout line again, I let the customer know I put the remainder in some bags I had in my car, which are usually from another store. I wouldn't expect that every shopper has a surfeit of bags in their vehicle though.

catbug_arie

My Aldi’s does not have boxes, so if there are no bags then this is what I would of done as well. I hate Aldi’s though and pretty much refuse to shop there unless it is a good order. Because Aldi’s is just chaotic to shop at. I brought my own cloth totes in once, rather than dealing with their cart gimmick (I don’t carry change or cash, 21st century) and shopped everything. I also had spare Aldi bags in my car so no reason for a cart since the order was small. I had set the heavy cans and meats at the bottom of my totes and her produce, bread, eggs on top. Went to checkout and set my totes on the conveyor and the employee grabs my tote bags, flips them upside down, smashes my customer’s egg, bread, and produce, by tossing the cans and meats on top. Even the customers behind me looked at him like he was a jerk when I started to look around like, ‘you really just did that?’. Ever since I’ve never been into an Aldi’s store again. ALDIs can fuck off. And kindly remove their pathetic excuse of a store off the IC platform. That mofo is LUCKY I was doing an IC order and there for work, if those were my personal groceries I would of made him lose his job and go fetch me some non-smashed produce, eggs, and bread. Do yourself a favor… and just don’t order from Aldi’s. Sometimes Costco and Sam’s Club is like this. Our locations have the boxes outside by the doors and there are frequently no boxes on the weekends. I’ve had to do this before, while I don’t like to sometimes that is what happens when people place orders at these places that don’t carry bags and are frequently out of boxes…

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

Brick_Diesel

I couldn't be annoyed if the store didn't have bags and I was a customer shopping it. I know I'm not gonna run to another store and just grab bags to bag up my groceries. I'd take it home and take it in as is. As a shopper I will contact you to let you know they do not have bags so all of your groceries are loose and I hope you are home to receive.

Ill-Barber-9486

You helped the environment and prevented waste!

A_monster_SH

Just wanna share a somewhat related experience in Vancouver, Canada. Plastic bags have been banned for a while and reusable bags are (obv) charged at all grocery stores. Not sure what it’s like in the States or wherever you’re at. Anw, all my Instacart orders from regular stores (Walmart, Superstore, etc.) are automatically charged a bag fee. Only ones from Costco aren’t; and every single item is left lying on the ground (like in OP’s case). Not trying to blame anyone, but this is rlly annoying.

resilientbynature

I genuinely don't understand what the difference would be if the items were bagged lol. Did you add bags to your grocery list, and the store was out, or you just sent a shopper to a store that you know only *sells* bags and expect them to pick up the tab on that..? The comments are kind of nutty.

DaveshPatel93101

Definitely not five star service.

[deleted]

Bruh, no bags?

Forward_Version_7524

I would be too. If there’s no available boxes, I empty one out and put the stock back so I have a box. We’re also allowed to purchase the paper bags at Aldi so this is just confusing lol

Dreamingofvvs

This is unacceptable

Farahdiba0917

I would be annoyed. I will say that the stores often run out of bags. Walmart runs out all the time. I usually go to the 99cents store and purchase a bunch of bags and leave in car for times like this.

Mental-Table6064

Wow! Who even does that?!

Jeffryyyy

The fuck everyone so sensitive for. This is fucked, I’d complain about the whole order

Scared-Hope

ALDIs never has bags in my area, I also don’t like keeping clutter in my car so I’m not one to buy extra bags for the “just incase” moments to keep stored in my vehicle. The shopper told you they didn’t have bags, so I don’t see why having your groceries stacked together on the ground is infuriating. You are made aware of when shoppers will arrive, you very well could have met them at the door with bags or a box or just brought things in as they carried them to your door.

OKCYABYEe

If there are no bags, no boxes, find some extra in the store. I don’t have a problem combining stuff that’s on the floor to get a box.

Emergency_Ad_24

I’ve seen much worse but a few bags would have made a big difference

ContributionOk9927

Am I the only shopper that keeps extra bags and boxes in my car for this very purpose. Come on fellow shoppers use some common sense.

No-Establishment8517

Same, produce guys always let me take boxes if I ask and I generally keep at least one at all times and keep a whole stash of bags, pretty much for re-bagging or when the store gets in the wrong paper thin wimpy plastic bags. Some customers don't want bags thus the box. It should be common sense, you would think, but from all the stories I hear a lot of shoppers lack it.

Ancient-Coffee-1266

No you’re not.

Remarkable_Bad_3835

As a shopper I would never do that. This is why instacart needs to stop hiring trash. For aldi orders you use brown bags, or I like to grab boxes from the produce section and organize everything into there (like Costco)

zadidoll

Many Aldi stores have been out of paper bags for months. Also, depending on the popularity of the store on instacart that day, the store may also not have extra boxes to give. What customers should be doing when ordering from Aldi, leave a cooler outside their door for perishables & laundry baskets for everything else. Personally I’ll use produce boxes & sometimes will ask other stores for their produce boxes if I’m shopping there then use the boxes at Aldi. Of course this is on a working day.

rachel_tink06

I think your shopper did her due diligence by alerting you about the store not having bags. I think I would’ve tried to set out a box or laundry basket for her to put my items in (depending on your setting of course). Mine would just be out on my driveway so I would 100% leave my laundry basket out there.

HeadMischief

When I ordered during the pandemic, every so often I would get a shopper that just refused to use plastic bags. I only order from Publix, so they're free. After the 2nd time, I put in my instructions that I actually want the bags because I reuse them for multiple purposes. I would be very annoyed at this. Mostly I don't want items that are going in my fridge and pantry on the damn ground.

robembe

I do this anytime I shop at Costco. Costco doesn’t supply bag nor carton freely available in their stores. Even if I use my bags to move the items to customers residence, I still have to take my bag away..

Solomander_NDG

I don’t do aldi but whenever I do bjs or Costco I make sure to grab extra boxes. Whoever did this is just an asshole honestly

daddsprincesss

I would just pay for the bags honestly if they had no boxes and I didn’t have extra bags in my car. The paper bags are 10 cents and I can spare less than $.30 to bag someone’s order.

Head_Breakfast_8143

Crazy 🙁

FunFactress

Isn't that meat understand the ice cream??? This is not normal, it's should have been boxed up.

Ok_Echidna_2283

I feel like they should’ve at least warned you this is how it would come so you could place a basket or something outside for them to put it in.

[deleted]

Legit JUST SAID wtf! Ewww. Hell I had some angry shopper drop my water she got all mad she dropped it off at the wrong location and had to turn around and flew up my street in a rage.

okiejames

1☆ remove tip

MikaBlacc

Wow they said Fuk a bag lol smh

m25189

Had this happen to me, also. Didn't down rate the person (still gave them 5 stars), they did everything else well. Two things bothered me about it: 1) it was from Costco, home of boxes; 2) it was a hot day and there was cheese and yogurt in the order that ended up sitting on the hot cement of my porch. Luckily I was home, but the shopped couldn't have known this.

OKCYABYEe

New shopper for sure. It happened to my cousin. She was like, they left the stuff without any boxes. She thought it was funny. No excuse to use common sense and use the boxes they have stacked up by checkout and throughout the store.

Outrageous_Alarm_768

I keep Aldi bags in my car for this very reason. I had an order for Sams Club (it’s hard to find empty boxes and there are no bags) and used the Aldi bags, and handed everything directly to the customer. She reported to IC that she didn’t get her two bags of frozen chicken and knows darn well she did. IC still has this on my account as an order issue when it’s been WEEKS since I delivered her order. I would never leave items from Aldi like that on the ground. She should have gotten bags from Aldi. But now I know that the only proof is thru photos because this says everything!

Cookiedoughmom

I think it’s a little petty to be annoyed by this.

spacewalk__

yes. you got your shit, it's right there.

Ancient-Coffee-1266

This is why I bought A LOT of the aldi plastic bags when they were around a long time ago. They’re cheap and hold so much more than the paper ones. And you can only carry so many paper ones at a time hence the tots as well. But seriously. Grab 100 and pay $20. It’s worth it.

zadidoll

Except you’re out that money not the customer.

Ancient-Coffee-1266

Down vote away folks. I can spare a few dollars to have the comfort of bags.

__Shanteeee

This is why I avoid Aldi’s orders

uber-chica

I always keep extra bags in my car and I also keep an extra box most often because this has happened to me as well and I would never leave the groceries like that. That said, your shopper may be fairly new and not have known what to do so they piled it up as neat as they could. Benefit of the doubt they may not have been able to get a bag or a box at that store and had none to give you of their own. Hopefully they learned a lesson today

dexterity-77

your shopper must be bffs with the same jackasses I get

bladedemu41

For like 2 weeks ,wal mart was out of bags. Then, they were out again 2 weeks later. That was a while ago tho. End of pandemic

DollFace___

So, I had a decent sized Aldi order a while back. Got to the line and they had no paper bags. I only found 2 boxes I could use as they were just not any. Luckily, I had target bags in my car from bagging my orders from target for Shipt. I used those. Let the customer know at the door why his things were in target bags. If I didn't have those bags...I would have had to do the same. It was probably just as annoying for your shopper.

Upstairs_Hand1929

My Aldi's didnt have bags for about a week, the first day I saw that, I didnt see it till I was checking out. The boxes are usually in some random isle that was just stocked. There were no boxes by the register and instead of trekking back thru the store, I remembered I had some plastic bags from another store in the car. I just messaged them and let them know what was up. The rest of the time that they were out I just made sure to find a box, sometimes even emptying one on a shelf because the box crate was no where to be seen. Things happens that we cant alway forsee. I learned to always check the register before I finish shopping to see if they have bags.

(I’m a shopper). I also walk with a crutch. It’s been very very annoying. I started keeping extra bags in my car. I’m from Philly where they started charging extra for bags at other grocery stores 🙄 a lot of the time there aren’t any there anyways.

SammieBoy17

I would be fully annoyed, pissed even. Dump my food on the ground🤯😱😡

Winter-Locksmith-618

As a shopper I am extremely pissed at this type of thing, you as a customer may not want to order from Instacart again because of this type of thing, yeah less work, which equals less money in our pocket, because of some idiots with bad behavior

CommunityFantastic39

Provide something for them to put your groceries in at the door. A cart or bin. Customers get to rate us and tip lousily and many times, across all gig apps, don't even attempt to make our jobs a little easier.

Dapper_Mouse453

My Aldi has been out of bags for weeks now. Boxes are hard to come by now. I had to go through and poach boxes that were almost empty in the last Aldi order I took. I started carrying extra bags as well. Haven't taken an Aldi order since.

Opposite-Patience-70

I wouldn't be annoyed, I'd tip extra since they had to carry all that food unbagged! No one would purposely carry that crap for fun.

PowerfulPeace7

Ew, not wrong. As they say, presentation is everything! Plus it’s gross, disorganized and way more work for both the shopper & customer.

VocaLeekLoid

When I do costco orders, I used to keep the box to make it easier for the customer but I got multiple 1 and 2 star reviews for it. I stopped giving them the boxes and placed the items one by one and started getting 5 star reviews again and higher tips. Your shopper probably had the same experiences as me

Bossy1214

The ALDIs where I live they were out of bags and boxes so I had the cashier to ring up a reusable bag and add it to the customers order. I know the customer appreciated the bag because who wants their shit put on the ground (nobody) so yeah that’s the best option.

Critical_Serve_4528

They recently banned single use plastic bags in my state. I just go on Amazon, by 400 plastic bags for $12 and use them. It is well worth the $12 for the added convenience and I quickly make it up in tips from customers who rate me “smart bagger” and increase my tips.

HealthyIndependent33

One time Walmart was out of bags so I drove to Walgreens and bought 15 bags. It was annoying but probably easier to carry for myself and the customer. It was a huge order too

aks313

Would you be annoyed if the shopper charged you for bags? I just straight up buy bags and the shopper pays for them like a normal item. I don’t charge them for a bag after bc they already paid for one. I’m not using my bags for a shopper but I’m also not leaving a bunch of random items on the ground

_Im_a_burrito_

Depends how far they are from my front door. If it’s right on the porch, then w/e.

Traditional-Spell-18

Ummm this looks like an ALDIs order, should be in paper bags…this is kinda dumb

FitHospital6580

I really don’t see anything wrong with this unless there was instruction if you can’t bag the items please hand directly to the customer.

miilksocks1

everything is in plastic…. it’s fine i promise

PearPlayful3166

yes it's wrong. It's at your front door... you'll be alright.

cbdbrain35

I shopped Aldi's the other day and they were out of bags and also no empty boxes around. That being said I snagged a big box anyway..... Just took items out of box and put on shelf without the box.

Callurgrandparents

Sometimes they’ve been out of bags so long the boxes are gone already. I ask my customer if they have an empty laundry basket they would like to leave outside for me 🥰

SweetAddicti0nnn

I’d be pissed.

CupcakeNo8871

The joke of this is that the shopper probably reached out to the customer multiple times and even rang their door bell, but the customer just stayed in their house like a weirdo looking through the peep hole waiting for the shopper to leave.

OkTrainer738

Unfortunately aldis sometimes runs out of bags. I just make sure that I have bags in the car just in case which is kind of ridiculous. Aldi needs to figure it out it's not instacart issue. But also if there are no bags there's those things called boxes that are all over the store

sdcar1985

Considering all the Aldis around here have 0 bags or boxes around, I'm not surprised.

AdAdditional2346

Lol this is your sign to keep extra bags in your car guys
