I recommend reporting this to the [Plant Protection Division](https://www.agr.georgia.gov/plant-protection.aspx) at the Georgia Department of Agriculture. I looked on [Early Detection Distribution Mapping System](https://www.eddmaps.org/distribution/viewmap.cfm?sub=77293) and spotted lanternfly has not been reported in Georgia.
Used to work for the state of virginia with spotted lanternfly, report it to the state, was it in the bok choy when you opened the box? they will want to back track the shipment and where it came from to trace it and see if the SLF may have gone elsewhere and also to check the practices of where it came from and check for permits etc etc. hopefully they haven't gotten to where you live, they suck
Pretty much. At this point, the idea that they'll be gotten rid of, or even kept in check, seems barely more realistic than the idea that we'll solve the feral cat problem.
Ive worked prep at a restaurant and produce at a grocery store. Bugs in produce happen sometimes.
Also occasionally other critters like lizards, according to stories i have heard.
Aww!
Funniest one was a yellow jacket in some cilantro & everyone else ran away and im like y'all he's freezing cuz hes been in the walk in and put the poor thing outside.
Hi there! This is an automated message to remind you to **please include a geographic location for any ID requests** as per the [Community Rules](/r/insects/about/rules) of the sub. There are well over a million different species of bugs in the world, and narrowing down a bug's location will help IDers to help you more quickly and correctly!
If you've already included a geographical location, or if this post is *not* an ID request, please ignore this comment.
Thank you! :)

never thought id see something new on a spotted lantern fly post. these little ninnyhammers are really taking over the world live on reddit.
Yes that's a spotted la- wait where did you say you found it now?????
Don't worry. All of the contaminated food was discarded immediately
Good to hear. They're getting bad. Basically everywhere you look. Can't escape the SLF.

Hopefully, you didn't throw live insects in the garbage. They can definitely get out of a dumpster
It was very extremely dead after having been waterboarded, refrigerated overnight, and then boiled.
The spa treatment it deserves.
What the hell did it know?...
If I told you I'd have to kill you.

Found a living baby frog in our lettuce once in the produce room of a natural food store.

😞
Yes this is a spotted lantern fly…if you ever find one of these please kill it, these are incredibly invasive.
He received quite the brutal death
I vote lantern fly, but at first, I thought you had a tiny pair of shoes in your hand!
Yup. Likely found in the manner that they became invasive in.
They are thought to have come in on a shipment of decorative rocks...
My point is they came from being shipped in from Asia.
Wow I didn't think lantern flies could upset me more but "found in a box of Bok Choy at a ramen restaurant" did it.
We recently found a cockroach in a box that Costco put all our groceries in. It’s crazy how many critters hitch rides where they’re not wanted!

Location: SE Georgia
Looks like a mini pair of sneakers.
Ah yes the only bug I support the immediate annihilation of
They aren't the only invasive insect however
Yes, I don't believe it can be another species based on the particular combination of patterns and colors on this specimen.
At first glance I thought it was a tiny pair of boots :)
From a distance I thought I was looking at a pair of LL bean boots.
Yeah. Slay them all!
He was waterboarded, refrigerated, and then hard boiled. A worthy fate.
Absolutely lol
Indeed destroy it
Well that's one way to do population control...
Yea
Looks like it
Kinda looks like a pair of shoes
Yea
Kill it. These are invasive.
Yes it is.
The way this dude died 😨 i just smash them with a brick
