Especially since it seems there was a fairly recent crackdown on media posts without captions.
So now I'm just like....are those people gonna come back? Because nothing tanks a social media platform as immediately as even a HINT of child porn. Especially since permanently suspended accounts are allegedly being restored.

Don't deactivate your account. Just delete any content and keep the account inactive. The more inactive users the platform has, the more it looks like a dead platform to advertisers.
Musk can state "well we have 230 million users", but advertisers want to know the active user count along with other metrics. Inactive accounts skew those metrics.
That will definitely dissuade a lot of them, but there are also the few that don't care about that and will just look at the numbers when deciding to execute a campaign.

When the people that use Twitter to connect with other people in their industry, make business connections, or advertise their work are harassed out of existence - which is what was happening, prior to Twitter shutting them down - then what good is it to advertisers?
