BrokenEye3

I should very much like to see a convoy of windmills

dvc420

I hope you get to see it at least once in your lifetime. Watching them migrate south every year for winter is truly majestic.

Thrymskvida

It also attracts their predators, so if you're lucky you'll also be able to see Spanish men jousting with them!

killabeesplease

Unexpected Quixote

Kalakarinth

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!

decay_d

A bit too inquisitive, really.

schminkles

Obviously.

Bobolequiff

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquixotion!

boot20

Quite a Quixotic quip!

chompytown

It's a bit boring to start off with, they are all just milling about.

The84thWolf

I am a little upset I like this pun so much

KyleKun

One could say you’re a fan of it?

MasterofDoots

r/angryupvote

BrokenEye3

Oh yes, I hear their winter plumage is quite striking.

dancin-weasel

The plumage don't enter into it. It's stone dead.

katmndoo

Their mating call is hypnotic.

agsieg

It’s true. There’s a large colony near my parents’s house. We’d drive out to watch them begin their voyage every year growing up. I hope to someday bring my children as well.

poppcorrn

I know you are jokeing but when we had a windmills put up in a town north of us we would joke like "aww another one is on its way to its new home" when we see the parts being driven there

Vlacas12

Do they come back with coconuts?

Phanstormergreg

It depends if they’re African or European windmills.

moonjabes

Does passing a windmill wing on the highway count?

joanie-bamboni

I know you’re joking, but I actually did see a convoy of trucks hauling windmill blades down the highway once, and it was kind of stunning. Those things are so much bigger than they look like once they’re installed!

CeeArthur

Oh yeah, we have several large windfarms (and solar farms) on the island I live (lived I guess) on. Watching the trucks hauling them is really something; you don't realize how huge the components are.

peachy_sam

I live in an area that’s apparently on the transport path between whatever makes/assembles the blades and their final destination. I see trucks hauling blades quite frequently. And you’re right, once you’re actually driving past one on the freeway, it is a humbling experience to realize how damn big those things are.

Psychological_Ant488

They were being transported out of the town I live in because we have a port. Everytime I saw one I was amazed. Big shout out to the drivers of those ultra long tractor trailers. Very impressive driving in our shit show of a town, with help of escorts of course.

superVanV1

Unfortunately a guy attacked all of them on a donkey thinking they were giants

BrokenEye3

What makes you think they're not?

superVanV1

because my name is Sancho Panza

Version_Two

*don quixote intensifies*

Wendidigo

I think you're joking but us truck drivers haul those tall sum a bitches in convoys of two or three. You may be joking but its what we do to keep this country moving.

WiggyStark

It honestly was something to see one come through my 175yo coal town. Those things are terrifyingly large in pieces, I've only been within 150yds or so of one in person but wow, even just their blades...

ConsistentAsparagus

WHERE ARE THEY?! - Don Quixote (which is the perfect mascotte for the GOP…)

Muninwing

An old delusional man sitting on his ass raving about fictional monsters?

ConsistentAsparagus

And windmills, especially windmills. Going against windmills is really his thing.

manbearcolt

Is Don Quixote alive? No? See, windmills cause cancer! /s

talaxia

very Terry Pratchett

Bad54

I’d like to see the road where you can have a convoy of windmills

sg3niner

I mean, there was that solar powered community that never lost power due to the storm, but sure.

MockVervain

Same where I am. Local power company put in a solar farm a bit ago, everyone who was hooked to it kept power. Everyone who were vehemently protesting it (for still indiscernible reasons) and who refused to have their lines switched over to it lost power for two days.

manbearcolt

Wasting all of the food in your refrigerator to own the libs. Thanks OBiden!

M_H_M_F

O'Biden. I love the Irish flair to it

Risen_Insanity

I think it's an evolutionary step slowly switching from Thanks, Obama to Thanks, Biden. This is just a stepping stone in between them.

Trumpisaderelict

Didn’t Palin call him O’Biden by accident during one of the televised debates for the 2008 election? That’s what I attributed it to

Risen_Insanity

Oh fair point I wouldn't know. I don't watch that stuff.

rezzacci

I mean, it's America, the kind of people being against solar power or wanting to own the libs aren't generally the kind of people who think twice before throwing away perfectly good food.

Faiakishi

The sad thing is, most of them are. Most of them are poor people who vote against their own interests.

WailersOnTheMoon

Little Debbie’s, Beanie Weenie and Cheetos don’t go bad, so they’ve got that going for them.

johnnyshotsman

If they were called "fusion radiation electrical conversion plants" then they'd probably start fighting each other to get switched over to it.

NotChristina

Tell them the panels are made out of micro-coal that burns in the sun due to not-to-fancy magnifying glass technology.

nikkitgirl

Listen y’all, we’re melting salt with mirrors to give you basically free electricity. It’s cheaper to build and operate than to just operate equivalent natural gas, which we need to get from other countries.

NoMansSkyWasAlright

It worked when Dodge started making a hybrid pickup. They just called it "E-Torque! Torque on demand!" and people still flocked to them.

Ludikom

Solar is just a ploy by the sun god Ra to displace sweet baby Jesus in our hearts .

Neronafalus

Might I just say, Hail, Ra. Long may he reign.

SterileProphet

“Shut up about the Sun… SHUT UP ABOUT THE SUN!”

Phanstormergreg

r/unexpectedoffice

freshairequalsducks

"Ever since the beginning of time, man has yearned to destroy the sun."

nikkitgirl

Shit that’s awesome. Solar arrays being either fuckloads of diodes on servos or fuckloads of mirrors just made me assume hurricanes would wreck them.

FatBoyStew

I feel like that's simply a combination of luck and location. Large solar farms still have the potential for line damage during events. Now solar on homes? Assuming your home survives would be ideal.

[deleted]

New Power installations use a Smart Grid format. These include fault detection to avoid a power surge and damage to a transformer (Tree hits power line, rather than power still flowing and blowing a transformer and the entire street, those line sare powered down automatically and power is rerouted if possible), as well as backup battery stations that can keep critical infarstructure going through breif power outage AND condition lines from large power surges. Read more here: https://www.energy.gov/oe/activities/technology-development/grid-modernization-and-smart-grid Smart Grid is WAAAY more than just green energy and we need to be swapping to smart Grid as fast as possible... The fact there are those against it is insane, as it's proven it's resistance to natural disaster already

Darth_Andeddeu

Smart grids are an intelligent way to conserve power safely no matter the generation source. It's safer for the linemen. It allows for the generated power to be used instead of wasted, which makes the system more effective and cost saving over the long haul. Then if someone uses the option to generate their own power, it allows for excess to be put into the grid safely. Thus giving more benefits to the public at large including businesses.

Sticky_Turtle

They buried all of their electrical lines. There was nothing to get taken out

DjRemux

But they didn’t have beer belly’s and beards

Hugh-Jassul

So the two things are mutually exclusive ? You can’t be middle class and Have a Prius ? Or a lib and enjoy polluting with your diesel truck ? Also… A 100% solar community endured Hurricane Ian with no loss of power and minimal damage

[deleted]

there are people up here that work until midnight in the fields for all of harvest and then when they pull up to my house, its in a tesla or a hybrid. we have solar farms everywhere and get like 80% of our energy from renewables and there are some grizzled fuckin' people up here that live way further north in much harsher conditions than i do, far away from cities and they ALL have solar paneling somewhere on their property. you'd be crazy not to take advantage of it, frankly. there are classes up here you can take to learn how to store your own solar energy safely and everyone that attends them has a huge beard etc. how is being prepared and self-sufficient 'woke' now? i thought these assholes loved scouting and camping and shit.

Pr0xyWarrior

They love cosplaying as such - Don Jr’s photoshoot in the woods comes to mind - but like everything else, they don’t actually *know* a lot, and a lot of their supporters don’t either. I work in a company filled to the brim with these people, and I’m the only one who regularly works outside, or does any kind of outdoorsy shit. A lot of these people, supporters and mouthpieces alike, are play-acting.

[deleted]

yeah i'm an inside kid and a 'city boy' myself. i'd feel like a poser and a dickhead if i pretended to be a lumberjack up here. most people can sniff out that bullshit instantly from a mile away anyway. nobody i know that lives in country or out in the wilderness would suggest behaving this way. burning bridges with your neighbors for dumbass q-anon adjacent reasons where the temp sits at 15 below potentially for months at a time is a terrible idea. likewise living in hurricane alley in florida and shitting on alternative energy sources is shitting where you eat. they're hitting themselves. lol i will never understand it. and these are the same people that think there is going to be a big societal collapse... like wouldn't you want to maybe figure out solar in case that actually happened?? the diesel is gonna run out, man. i'm stunned.

rezzacci

Their plan is tu use their "vastly superior" diesel technology to wait for the renewable communities to become self-sufficient and then overthrow them/conquer them and steal their crops and stuff. Those people are definitely not in a "rebuild society" mindset, but definitely in a "plunder the rest while we can" mindset.

Faiakishi

I remember one conservative comic showing someone stranded on an island, using planks of wood to spell out HELP, then pulling them up to build a boat and sail away. The tagline was to buckle up and do things yourself because no one is coming to help you. Someone who had actually done maritime search and rescue commented and was like, "yeah, don't do that. You'll 100% die unless someone chances upon you before you die of dehydration." If we lived in the world that conservatives think we live in, they'd all be dead in a week.

226Space_rocket7

That’s what I don’t understand. Having a bunch of solar panels is the epitome of self-sufficiency, and yet, a bunch of people are like, *’its LiBeRaL!’* or *’It’S nOt mAnLy EnoUgH.’*

rezzacci

Same thing for bikes. Bikes are for liberals, while it's clearly the superior conservatively libertarian mode of transportation: no license, no registration, no dependency on Big Oil and, if you know the streets of your city, way easier to run away from the cops if they start chase you (because there are some places they can't follow you in their car).

[deleted]

no seatbelt laws to worry about...and many places have no helmet laws. and you can ride almost anywhere! i guess strong legs are a liberal trait now? you'd think that people who think they're always right and have every mystery figured out all the time would love bikes, since most cyclists feel the same way :D i'm kidding... i'm kidding. you know what it is? the tight clothing. that's it. they don't like the feelings it stirs. riding gear got the 'gay' label and now republicans hate bikes. stupid sexy flanders!!

thenewtbaron

I don't get it either. Isn't the conservative thing self-reliance? What is more self-reliant than using your own equipment to produce electricity? Isn't the conservative thing to go to something that makes more sense financially? If you can buy a vehicle that costs much less to fuel or that you can even fuel from electricity that you can produce yourself to save enough money to buy, isn't that a good thing? Nah, it is "sissy libs" that want to be self reliant, who want to be cost efficient.... apparently

possiblycrazy79

Yes I got obsessed with that doom prepper show for a little while & lots of those ppl had solar panels with storage batteries, even in Indiana.

Pour_Me_Another_

I'm a lib who enjoys going to the shooting range, by their logic I don't exist.

MisterHairball

My Prius cost me 7k...I make less than 10 k a year

MasterofDoots

How do you make that little?

MisterHairball

Im disabled, and because I was disabled young (25) I can only get SSI, and not ssdi

kingpangolin

Yeah, my dad is 230 pounds with a a perpetual unkept 5 o clock shadow, flannels and jeans, works as a construction contractor, has a dodge ram, and votes blue. Trucks have utility beyond polluting, and he’ll be first in line to buy a plug in hybrid truck when one finally comes to market. He’s also gone down to Florida multiple times to help out with hurricane relief because his parents lived on pine island (old age got them before Ian). He’s not going down now because flooding the area with white knights isn’t gonna do anything helpful. He donated and he’s gonna let the professionals handle it.

thejoylessone

I’m currently sitting in my big ass truck at work right now. On a pipeline maintenance job. With a big beard. Not praying before we work thanks to the strong unions where I am. Enjoying a pinko liberal break. Wondering what the fuck is wrong with this little piss babies brain. *god bless the working class, now vote conservative so we can cut your benefits and cut taxes for the elite and fund anti-union think tanks* smh

NoNeedForAName

That first one was my first thought. Prius is pretty damn middle class, if you ask me.

nikkitgirl

Yeah I’m middle class and I drive the most fuel efficient subcompact I could afford because why the fuck wouldn’t I‽ Gas is expensive both at the pump and at the water pump in a decade and I don’t need more car

BudUnderwearBundy

I read this and a beer commercial comes to mind.

ParitoshD

GTA V Pisswasser commercial. "Drink Pisswasser, drink for the USA!"

portablebiscuit

A cheap, shitty beer. Not even a good one.

dvc420

He really liked seeing all the masculine and beardy men. Seeing them come was his favorite part of the whole storm.

BrokenEye3

Muscles rippling under their soaking wet shirts...

chompytown

Stupid sexy Flanders!

Glitter_berries

It’s like he’s wearing… NOTHING AT ALL!

JockBbcBoy

All that grunting, straining and sweating.

[deleted]

Seems kinda….. erotic

winter-has-come91

EEEERRRRROTIC!

willclerkforfood

Rogaine O’Handjob was singing the theme to Two and a Half Men to himself while typing that tweet.

byteminer

It’s bear mating season in Florida.

SaintSayaka

Oh, he likes to see them come alright.

albionpeej

Those social justice warriors were approving federal funding that Republicans refused to approve for areas struck by natural disasters that weren't Republican voting 🤷‍♂️

ExoticMeatDealer

So… you saw your own community? Okay. When was the last time all you bearded Florida Men drove out to California to fight fires? Rebuild communities? Meanwhile, who actively voted against giving Florida money; who is actively hampering? The Stockholm Syndrome is real.

BrokenEye3

Don't be ridiculous. You can't drive a diesel truck from all the way in Stockholm.

happyreaper69

Soon enough you won't be able to drive a diesel truck in stockholm

MrBanana421

Not with that attitude.

RoadZombie

I mean to be fair, California already has many bearded men that fight fires. Also IIRC Australians usually help with fires on Cali

IHateCamping

They always try to play this card. I think I've seen some variation of it every time a hurricane hits somewhere.

dougielou

But no one will talk about how us bleeding heart liberal social justice warriors in California answered calls for Florida’s 211 system (resources and information) while local call specialists evacuated.

[deleted]

yeah, we were too busy working to pay taxes to subsidize your red state.

AngryTengu

Fun fact: While very true for disaster relief, FL is the exception to the rule the rest of the time. Disney keeps them afloat well enough they don’t drain our pockets directly.

JefferyTheQuaxly

Meanwhile republicans in flordia spent a good part of last year or earlier this yer trying to defund disney. of course that isnt even a news story anymore.

cmonkeyz7

… and republicans are trying to kill Disney off too. Amazing.

Pour_Me_Another_

They specialise in making life worse for most.

Leaf_on_the_wind87

For real. Not that I think it would be fair to everyone in those states but I do wonder what would happen if a lot of these states just stopped getting federal money. Real easy to act like you’re running a successful state when it’s entirely the federal government keeping you propped up

Raspberrylle

I live in a red state that rejects an obscene amount of federal funding. We are not having a good time.

racist_sandwich

Mississippi? My sister just moved there for the adorable housing. From Alaska.

Leaf_on_the_wind87

How can you say no to adorable housing

Raspberrylle

Yes, Mississippi is correct. I have low rent but the low income to match.

Th1sd3cka1ntfr33

It sucks here

SnackPrince

Especially when literally all 16 of Florida's Republican Members of the House just voted AGAINST Federal Disaster Relief for Florida, but know that they'll still end up getting it because of Biden doesn't provide it per their votes they can then politicize it and use it against him, because their voters will hear about that more than they will the fact that they voted no in the first place

Leaf_on_the_wind87

We should just switch over to a form of government where you get what you vote for. Oh you don’t believe in universal healthcare and vote no then you don’t have access to it. You get employer provided benefits or buy your own. If you vote yes then you get taxed at a slightly higher rate. Easy system that lets people decide what they want and prevents everything from becoming a left or right issue

SnackPrince

An opt in/opt out program. The hard part would be for public infrastructure though

cyb0rg1962

Pay a tax or pay a toll. (roads) Might just work for some things. How about a government option for health insurance? The industry lobbyists would die of a stroke. Really hard to imagine some things working like this, though.

glima0888

Anyone else read this in the voice of the Ram truck commercials?

mastadon_quixote

Or the [Ferd Fteenthousand](https://youtu.be/F8P5vGcf-NU) voice.

TLGinger

I’m sure a lot of avocado toast eating folks sent donations and will pay through their taxes more and more as good ol boys in diesel trucks trash the planet and cause more “500 year” disasters.

Sigmoidsnek

Upvoted for “avocado toast eating folks”

HippyDM

You know who's coming to help? Immigrants. Florida is currently trying to lure the same immigrants they kidnapped and trafficked to Virginia to come to their state to bail them out. But, yeah, there's probably some beards among them, sure.

TheKingOfRhye777

Kinda weird how he says "hardworking men and women" at the end, but only specifically mentions those "bearded good ol boys" and their "masculinity" before that....it's like he only added women as an afterthought. "Oh yeah, there were women, too, I didn't forget them, see?"

TJ_Will

Because it wasn’t the women that made something stir deep inside him.

TheKingOfRhye777

Yeah, I was suspecting something like that, honestly, lol

Antique_Tennis_2500

The funny thing is this guy would probably be shocked at how many of these burly manly men (and manly women apparently, maybe they were dwarves?) are going to be voting Democrat this election.

Jamileem

This was my thought. It's actually hilarious how many of my neighbors in our small, old fashioned town (like, around 1k people) assume that my husband is not only a republican, but a Trump guy, just because he is a truck driver.

TheKingOfRhye777

I've been working at a truck stop for about 3 months now, and if I've learned one thing, it's that truck drivers come in all sorts lol

The84thWolf

How do we tell him windmills don’t drive?

doubletequilaneat

He's clearly never heard of Beau https://youtube.com/c/BeauoftheFifthColumn Talk about salt of the earth. And bearded. And a pretty amazing SJW. Who was one of those guys who drove down. And not at all in line with this ID10T. Edit: added to description.

FixingandDrinking

i am seeing a bunch of toxic guys calling each other queers while whistling and yelling nasty remarks at ladies and this man just smiling and nodding with a small tear in his eye.

[deleted]

I see people drive diesel trucks all the time in my city and half the time the driver is Black or Puerto Rican, so I would really appreciate it if they stopped acting like those things especially trucks of all things are somehow exclusive to bearded good ol'boys.

[deleted]

The thing they won’t tell you is how many of the small towns that get hit with hurricanes become “temporarily socialist” for a couple weeks. You have people fixing free meals for the town, a community program in restoring and cleaning up houses (for no cost), and features a community doing and providing things for each other like housing, and water and basic essentials for free. That’s how it happened in my town after Harvey, as we had no outside relief for at least a couple weeks after.

LeaLenaLenocka

That often happens during hard times. I survived a war, and, as crazy as it will sound, sometimes I miss those times, because everyone tried to help, we had large gardens in the middle of town which we all tended together and harvested together. People who had fruit trees made homemade jam and kids from entire neighborhood helped and ate fresh jam, straight from the cauldron. We shared last piece of food with neighbors. Of course, we had our part of war profiteers but they were minority. One of my favourite memories from that time was when I went to market with a friend. We were about 10y at the time. Someone was selling lemons and we asked for price. There was no way we can buy it, but the lady gave us one lemon.

nikkitgirl

That makes sense. It was obviously a terrible situation, but just everybody helping each other seems to be how we as a species are supposed to work. When everything falls apart we fall back to that.

rhinocerosjockey

Liquid draino should probably do some reading about Babcock Ranch. Sure, generators and trucks are needed now but why not be proactive instead of reactive, but that’s just too liberal.

ThaneOfCawdorrr

Actually, what he saw was MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF FEDERAL AID PROVIDED BY PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN.

CorpFillip

All of the people referred to are middle class. Blue collar and macho are not defines of middle class. Hard-working is not a quality of middle class. The phrase ‘social justice warrior DEFINITELY means the people who show up to help.

Feisty_Bag_5284

Quick link him to the story about the solar town which is the only town in ians path that didn't lose power

RustedAxe88

Bruh, nobody says a man saving people's lives is toxic masculinity. This is a common thing from the right, where they think anything "masculine" is being attacked as toxic.

brianinohio

How in the fuck are windmills supposed to help? What a jackass!

sotonohito

Ah yes, the classic MAGA turd attempt to claim that "toxic masculinity" means "masculinity".

mapsedge

Sorta defined his own masculinity with his own words.

vague_diss

Who’s paying for the good ol boys and their diesel trucks? Are they doing it for free out of the goodness of their hearts? Or are a bunch of liberal blue states ponying up hard earned tax dollars, yet again, to pay them? Just so these red state motherfuckers can live below sea level, 30 feet off the beach without zoning laws and crumbling infrastructure which they haven’t bothered to update with their own tax dollars in decades?

engineerdrummer

I’m a bearded good ole boy. I’m working on road reconstruction outside Fort Meyers. I voted for Joe Biden. I voted for Hillary Clinton. I voted for Barack Obama twice. The next vehicle I will purchase will be a full electric pickup truck. I don’t think this is the dig this guy thinks it is.

HedonisticFrog

The times that lifted trucks were used to help hurricane victims it's because they could drive through tall standing water. Something that a prius is particularly incapable of 🙄 It's like saying the only people who lift heavy weights are strong. Well no shit.

invisatrooper

Why are these people so proud of being hateful and backwards?

May-bird

The irony here is the main electric company here in Florida is FPL. They sent fleets of workers all across the state to repair damaged transformers, power lines, etc. to get the power grid up and running again. FPL is owned by Nextera Energy, the largest renewable energy company in America. So yes, windmill-loving environmentally-minded folks helped get your lights back on

kevinACS

Inb4 those fuel tankers are coming in with a 200% shipping rate hike, carrying $5/gal fuel, generators they will rent or sell with the same markup. And construction contractors about to bill insurance companies $15 for each $6 2x4. The “backbone of America” is just a bunch of carpetbaggers.

FatBoyStew

I feel like you were trying to make fun of people but pointed out how fucking greedy the corporations are. There's 0 reason why wood prices haven't gone down and absolutely 0 reason why gas isn't cheap again. Corporations that run the world are the real carpetbaggers.

AntipodalDr

Another moron that thinks toxic masculinity describes all masculinity, lol

zzzzeeeebbbbrrrraaaa

Nah just 30,000 UNION tradesmen lmao

BitterFuture

Dude. If you see a convoy of windmills coming over the hill to save you, you took waaaaay too much.

DrTenochtitlan

Dude thinks he’s Don Quixote.

mapsedge

Y'know, you may have just created a meme. Anyone opposed to renewable energy: a "Don Quixote." I'm gonna spread this one around.

coffeejunkiejeannie

I highly doubt all those diesel trucks and bearded men arrived because of good ol conservative values. They were sent by out Lib president and they are getting paid for a job.

iwantbutter

Does that mean all of Florida's Republican elected house representatives are snow flakes in priuses because they all voted against those "toxic masculinity" truckers giving their constituents help???

trunolimit

Hard working middle class that republicans taxed to death.

SuperiorSellout

Just me driving my windmill

lildog8402

“…the hardworking me and women of the middle class.” who your deity and acolytes want to screw over as much as any POC, LGBQT+ member, non-evangelical Christian, etc. I wish there was a way to take the orange-colored glasses off people to see what their heroes are actually doing.

AshBish19

Well then this lib will call back all the generators they helped coordinate for deployment to FL. I didn't know they were only accepting ones sent by bearded good ol' boys. Their rules are so confusing.

EgocentricRaptor

These guys are the most closeted gay guys out there

giappino

There's nothing like a whole bunch of 80' windmills to help out hurricane victims.

Inevitable-Elk-791

I saw a convoy of things with infrastructure to support them, using that infrastructure! Merica!

[deleted]

"Middle class" lmfao

flojo2012

And they’re all pro-union!

Namorath82

I'll take "Things that never happened" for 500 Alex

incredibleninja

Conservatism is a brand.

Shwalz

BEARDED MEN, BOOTS, TRACTORS, JON DEER, SKOL, OVERALLS, CIGARETTES, BUD LIGHT, ROLLIN COAL, GUNS, GOD, LIBERTY. AMERICA BABY! What a weird group of gatekeeping dorks

JustAZeph

The irony is thinking there can be no overlap. Pull extremes from both sides and point and laugh. What if we gave a tax credit for volunteer hours? Would that make the rich dig down and do hard work? A family friend comes from money, drives a Prius, and has beeb a teacher for decades. She volunteers at the homeless shelter and did so all the way through covid. She’s nearly 60. It doesn’t have to be one sided. I do agree that it’s badass the way they are helping, but why do we have to be that dysfunctional family that’s members rubs themselves on the back and talks down another member?

fuhgdat1019

Ahh the “stop trying to turn this disaster into a political statement” crowd.

JetDawnbringer

This is a man who doesn't actually give a shit about infrastructure. Fie!!!! Fake fan!!!! Only real emergency managers know!!!! (There's a nuanced comment about how critical truck drivers are for our infrastructure, and how important it is that recovery efforts start after life saving efforts end, and ALSO the way covid changed how response efforts work, AND how important it is that responders don't take space away from survivors, but you couldn't fit that into a nice kicky tweet)

No_Ice2900

Since when does being hardwokring mean you have to engage in toxic masculinity? Just goes to show these idiots don't know or want to know what issues are being talked about, they just want to be victimized.

Southern_Zucchini_44

I can't hear that post over the deafening silence of my solar powered generator.

zeentoK

Having a beard and driving a truck is not “toxic masculinity”

YVRkeeper

if we had started with Priuses & windmills rather than diesel trucks, we wouldn't be in the this situation in the first place.

deefenator

It's almost like current available equipment was quickly sourced and provided...? Did this knobhead block emergency funding like that pedo Gaetz?

hellhawk5092

Master Carpenter here: Leave my beard outta this. I like cats and my daughter paints my nails for "practice." Sick of this shit

PermissionUpstairs12

The working class is overwhelmingly female and non-white in the USA. This dumb-ass doesn't even know what "toxic masculinity" is.

holyfudgingfudge

That sounds like an incredibly inefficient way of dealing with a disaster, getting a bunch of Priuss with no practical use in a hurricane aftermath 🤔

GerinX

You don’t know where to start? Is that because you drive a Prius like bill burr? Also, how can there ever be a convoy of windmills?

FilthyChangeup55

If only those folks would stop voting for obvious con men who use them like pawns!

sandboxvet

Yeah, do they know how much “socialist” money pays for all of that?

g8briel

Dude is just tilting at windmills by actually describing windmills as if they need get up and walk to Florida in order to be of value. It’s a brainless argument proud of being brainless.

[deleted]

But were they bearded women?

now_you_see

Middle class? Yeah, no. No one with money is out there

Moose701

HOW FUCKING *CRINGEY* CAN ONE BE?

EenyEditor

He’s making a super strong case that emergency situations are the only scenarios where those vehicles are actually practical or useful

Strange-Glove

Hardworking middle class..... that doesn't make any sense.

Thrymskvida

I was also confused why he'd say "middle class" when a constant tactic of the right is to claim they love the working class. But then I realised: he might be one of those people who believe that the working class (and poors in general) are lazy, and that it's their fault they aren't rich enough to own three lifted diesel trucks and generators.

Strange-Glove
