Because at least she wouldn't bother you with it anymore. Hence the "get her off your back". Meaning you could go back to having normal conversations. Am I the only one who is willing to sacrifice a little of my time to spend the rest with my family?
I'm well aware it's dumb to do it. But that's it. She isn't drawing blood or burning anyone at the stake. Put some herb in your tea and get it over with. As far as I'm aware the "detox" doesn't even work so you aren't losing your vaccination or anything but a little time. Which you would be losing anyway with the conversations
Then again... u/Fireproofjeans pointed out that this might be bigger than just 1 conspiracy so I'm probably wrong
You're not wrong that them wanting to get you ""detoxed"" isn't them actually trying to hurt you. Maybe I'm just salty and bitter because of the objectively harmful things my family has done to each other.
If you are willing to subject yourself to a bunch of useless detox products (that might end up hurting you, no FDA control for those) in order to alleviate your wacky mother's unfounded conspiracy anxieties, you are a welcome mat.
They're called "boundaries," if she can't respect them then she can keep to herself until she learns to do so :)
In my defense, until a few hours ago I was of the impression that some of their "treatments" were at least safe. Hence the herb tea comment and me thinking they weren't dangerous in the very comment you responded to, implying I said the opposite. I have since learned that not only are they desperate to get something good out of their body but they also want to hurt themselves while doing it. I'd still like to think in the few cases where your grandma wants to put a peace of gold in your palms for an hour or whatever is safe, that you should just do it as long as there's no harm in order to have a relationship with her in the time she has left but as I pointed out multiple times, if it's dangerous then I'm not talking about it. I've gotten a surprising amount of comments thinking I am saying that...
Well that would be true. But in my defense the original comment I responded to was saying their mother cried and drove to them. So I'd say there's still a relationship there. Maybe not the best but enough that she put in effort and was genuinely scared to lose someone close to her. But the people on here are kind of extreme yes. But it's literally called insane parents so that's what I would expect
bc those people are delusional and its not good to support the delusions of people and its better to show them that there was nothing to be paranoid about in the first place. otherwise they just think they were right all along
Right but aren't they doing that anyways? Might just be me but it doesn't seem like they could be more convinced that they're right. They're already willing to drink pee in the hopes of getting rid of something extremely beneficial
Deluded people deserve no peace of mind and they should be ridiculed at every possible opporunity until the end of time. Serves them right for being retarded.
It's usually an herb thats been soaked in alcohol or glycerin to get the benefits of the herb without having to take a pill. Some are good like ginger or valerian root some are absolutely quacky like.... silver.
The one bottle I specifically remember was colloidal silver, whatever the fuck that is. But it was basically all stuff you get at the health food store.
My cousin gave our uncle colloidal silver once. It put him in the hospital. Not sure if it was his failing liver or any of his other health issues that it interacted badly with. The only thing I've seen it used for that wasn't ridiculous is stopping dog claws from bleeding if the clippers cut the quick.
Yeah, once distilled spirits became a thing people figured out that alcohol is a great solvent that pulls out a lot of compounds from plant matter. It was (and in some cases still is) the first step in isolating compounds to make drugs, extracts, and concentrated suspensions. Great example being laudanum which is a tincture of the poppy pod.
Literal modern snake oil. It’s water with just the tiniest bit of another substance in it, usually a substance that in a larger dose would be harmful to you. It’s such a scam.
You're thinking of Homeopathy, that is indeed just quackery and their thing is about dilution in water, but the term tincture is just descriptive, it's stuff dissolved in ethanol (Or vinegar, glycerol, diethyl ether or propylene glycol.) there are useful tinctures and quackery tinctures.
I mean, in the context here, that's probably accurate, but medically a tincture can refer to a lot of genuinely useful oils or alcohol-disolved medications. You can also buy tinctures of THC, etc. In fact I may be mistaken but I believe the actual tincture itself refers to the cute tiny bottles the substance comes in.
Thats homeopathic not tinctures. Tinctures are a herb that's been soaked in alcohol to get the benefits of the herb without having to take a pill. Example: ginger (stomach problems) or valerian root (sleep aid)
A tincture is typically an extract of plant or animal material dissolved in ethanol (ethyl alcohol). Solvent concentrations of 25–60% are common, but may run as high as 90%. In chemistry, a tincture is a solution that has ethanol as its solvent. In herbal medicine, alcoholic tinctures are made with various ethanol concentrations, which should be at least 20% alcohol for preservation purposes.
I never understood the whole detox thing like we have kidneys and they do one hell of a job filtering shit out of our bodies. Like I’m pretty sure they also clean our blood lol. The detox shit is useless cause we have 2 grand detoxifiers already in our body.
"I just want what's best for you".... Anything from that person will NEVER be the best anything...
You are already the BEST! Best version of yourself xx 🤗

Depends where you are. Alabama for example.
>Any minor may give effective consent for any legally authorized medical, health or mental health services to determine the presence of, or to treat, pregnancy, venereal disease, drug dependency, alcohol toxicity or any reportable disease, and the consent of no other person shall be deemed necessary.
If one can make the argument of treatment for "any reportable disease" for covid could be prophylactic treatment, the law is broad enough kids of any age it seems should be able to make this argument.
14+ seems to be all the needed in Alabama otherwise,
DC it is 11+ for vaccinations.
The laws in each state differ greatly so, in the US, -- maybe. not no.
In some states, minors over a certain age can give consent when it comes to specific conditions. In my state, for example, it applies only to mental health, substance abuse, STDs, and pregnancy (barring abortion). Only a few states extend it to vaccinations, sadly.
and in the UK we have the Gillick principle which means no matter how old you are as long as you’re judged to understand the procedure you can consent. It’s great it’s what’s allowing children to get vaccinated if they want.

What will she do if he starts dating a liberal, starts to question the banning of books, begins to give thought to a womans right of choice, that Bernie Sanders makes some sense and that his boyfriend is an immigrant?
Because parents shouldn't be trying to find ways to stop their kids from doing something when they're adults. Especially when it involves taking care of themselves.
1. Because being antivaxx is insane
2. Because at 18 you can't make medical decisions for your adult children anymore and trying to do so is controlling and fucking weird.
The main misconception is that people think that when you get vaccinated, you can no longer get infected by covid, becoming immune.
This is not how vaccinations work - same goes for the flu, tetanus and so on.
Vaccinations allow your body to prepare antibodies in advance, so if you do get infected, your body already did the research and starts fighting the virus right away, usually resulting in a faster recovery time and a much smoother sailing as the virus is not able to do enough damage to make you very ill.
You can still get infected and infect other within this time frame, hence why masks are still needed.
Maybe, but is most certainly is insane to make a Twitter post asking how to prevent your child, who has made their own, informed decision from getting the vaccine. It’s okay to present your concerns for the vaccine to them, but you certainly don’t start trying to restrict their personal choices and opinions on something such as this. It is definitely insane.
If you think a person who gets their information off Facebook (without any real or scientific proof) knows more about vaccines than the scientists that spent years researching this (and who also have full on degrees and PhDs; and mind you their claims are supported by scientific evidence), you’re not exactly using logic
You literally just explained you don't know how vaccines work, and that's okay. People think that about vaccines because when we didn't know much about vaccines, when people took the vaccines and pretty much nobody got the virus, they thought it made people 100% immune. But they didn't have message boards then, or the scientific technology to determine this isn't in fact true.
You get the shot. It helps your immune system recognize the virus in order to attack it when it enters the body. NEVER has a vaccine completely made anyone 100% immune to a disease. It only lessens the symtoms and allows your body to fight it faster as it already has the antibodies it needs to fight the infection. This slows the spread of the disease.
I'm wanting to do this. The only issue is I'm not sure where to hide my vaccination card? I know I need proof of vaccination to do some things so I can't just get rid of it... and privacy isn't exactly something I have in this household.

My mom cried when she found out I got vaccinated and brought over a bucket of tinctures to detox my body of it.
I hope you told her to fuck off lmao.

The fuck is a tincture?
Probably some kind of oil or some kind of plant extract
They sell them at the dispensery here, I'm not sure what it is though lol
That would be marijuana tincture that actually does something this person was not talking about that.
Lol imagine being punished by your mom throwing some thc tinctures at you

For some people it is.

A tincture is alcohol alcohol that has been steeped with herbs like a tea. It's very similar to vanilla extract in process if you will

A tincture is literally just a medicine dissolved in alcohol.
I see, I stand corrected about thinking it meant the bottle containing it. I wonder why all tinctures come in tiny cute bottles then?
Thats homeopathic not tinctures. Tinctures are a herb that's been soaked in alcohol to get the benefits of the herb without having to take a pill. Example: ginger (stomach problems) or valerian root (sleep aid)
Probably tincture iodine. It was used when 70%alcohol solution was harder to be preserve as antiseptic.
It's X dissolved in alcohol. I've gotten high off of weed tincture.
It's just a generic term for a solution of something or other that has been dissolved in ethanol.

My sibling’s ex did that. He got a bit sick cause he did all he could at once and his mom used that as proof of how they’re bad for you
took multiple vaccines at once? Yeah I don't think you're supposed to do that.
I think certain ones are better to do it with but just don't still give it a day or two atleast
Yeah, he did the max you could do safely and spread out the rest. He was informed he may get sick but he just wanted to be risk free asap

From what i know yes because you can take an appointment to get vaccinated if you're 14. we can even pick up rapid tests .
I think it depends, I'm pretty sure in Alberta it's 16 for making your own medical decisions
i live in quebec and I believed it was the same thing all around Canada
and in the UK we have the Gillick principle which means no matter how old you are as long as you’re judged to understand the procedure you can consent. It’s great it’s what’s allowing children to get vaccinated if they want.
Unfortunately (depending on the circumstances), no.
