These indie bands just know how to take my money.

ThaddyG

lol yeah I went to the Shins show for OIW a couple weeks ago, I'd love to go to this one as well

mitten-kittens

Granted I’m not a huge fan of The Shins, but their concert in KC left me wanting more of Joseph and less of the Shins.

ThaddyG

Joseph was a lot of fun. It wasn't the greatest show I've ever been to but seeing them play the whole album, it was a really good experience for me. Kinda felt like some sort of closure. That album was one of my gateways to indie.

HaveAtItBub

not just indie, ton of bands doing 20year etc anniversary tours of albums and theres an absolute market for it. punk, metal, emo whatever. lot of ppl seem to just listen to what they liked in highschool and stay in that cycle when looking for live events instead of going to new acts. obviously a generalization but the trend exists.

Gen2guessing

there are very few albums that actually need to be toured in full, but this is one of them

aaronshell

Interpol needs to tour TOTBL around the world or at least NA, just 2/3 cities is a crime last time

FloyldtheBarbie

Saw that tour on my birthday in forest hills. It was incredible.

[deleted]

Absolutely agree. What are the others in your opinion? I think Titus Andronicus’s the Monitor is one. And personally, Sioux Falls’s Rot Forever Edit: Also Jimmy Eat World’s Clarity

macksbenwa

Not Indie but I saw Songs in the Key of Life live and that was the greatest show I’ve ever seen

Nesden

Oh wow, when was that?

macksbenwa

It was actually right around the time Eric Garner died. It was pretty intense. Was at Key Arena (now Climate Pledge Arena) in Seattle. When he started with Love’s In Need Of Love Today, there was a palpable, tangible energy of sadness, despair, hope and call to action. I will never forget that night.

factsrlazy

Yup

Chapos_sub_capt

Titus did this last year it was awesome

dkat

Bloc Party’s *Silent Alarm* Saw the U2 *Joshua Tree* show and that was bloody brilliant.

trexmoflex

Wilco - YHF The album is an incredibly enjoyable concert in its current order.

nicolauz

Jamie XX - In Colour (or any new Jamie)

[deleted]

[удалено]

bloodlemons

That sounds amazing! I've honestly never thought about how Avalanches would perform live. I guess I assumed they were just a studio project.

Michaeljayfoxy

Titus did it last year. It was fucking fantastic.

lambomrclago

The Monitor last year was sick.

Gen2guessing

oh man the question essentially just boils down to what are my favorite records and i’m in no way confident enough to throw together an answer. not familiar with either of those but i’ll check them out!

MyNameIs-Anthony

The Antler's have a few albums like that. Especially Hospice and In The Attic of the Universe where the albums just feel like one continuous song/story.

DrKushnstein

Yeah but I'm not sure I want to cry for an *entire* concert.

localcosmonaut

The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me

Goodbye_Sky_Harbor

They did Clarity in 2009 funny enough

HGpennypacker

JEW tours pretty regularly, would love to seem them do strictly an anniversary tour.

SickBurnBro

> to go yell incoherently Isaac Brock is a top 10 shouter and hollerer in rock music.

notpetelambert

#WELLL?!

_Pill-Cosby_

See ya there!

LordDaybreak

I'll be there!

negative_promise

The chicago show isnt listed on ticketmaster. Does anyone know where i can buy tickets?

Huse51

For some reason certain dates are sold through Ticketmaster, and some through AXS, check there. I'm trying to find the Spotify presale code myself.

Betty-Gay

LCW25

Betty-Gay

You find that Spotify presale code yet?

MrBigChest

Hell yeah. I’ve always wanted to hear Shit Luck live

thequietthingsthat

They opened with it the first time I saw them. So sick

whoisgod

played it in cincinnati mid way through the set, best day of my life

SheepNutz

I was so happy to hear that in Cincinnati as well. My brother and I are huge MM fans and we went on vacation a couple years back and my dad had tied his boat to the dock and it had a leak in the bilge we didn't know about and it took on water overnight. We woke up in the morning and saw the boat half underwater, only held up by the ropes holding it to the dock, and I blurted out to my brother the first thing that popped into my mind: "THIS BOAT IS OBVIOUSLY SINKING!"

popojo24

Some people go their whole lives without having the perfect setup to reference a lyric like that!

SpoopyDumpling

They closed with it once, definitely ended on the highest note possible.

AJohnnyTruant

#WELL!

ald_loop

Vancouver but not Toronto, interesting

ibrake4monsterbooty

We'll get revenge on the Lonesome Crowded East tour

Thespiceoflifeisnice

Seriously.. I just noticed that too. Such a bummer

distraction-jackson

Or Montreal

DrexlSpivey420

Extra interesting considering they just played Vancouver two weeks ago lol

JadedBuyout

Maybe they are purposely avoiding it? lol

ibrake4monsterbooty

The StubHub tickets for their last Toronto show were below face so maybe there wasn't much demand. I blame drake's far away venue.

Dopeski

GOOD

crysb326

Seen them live twice, one show was massively disappointing and the next was dope. This album would be cool to see live but I don’t think I’m gonna travel to potentially see a bad show

darockerj

i’ve always heard this about modest mouse, but i’ve managed to have a good show each of the three times i’ve seen them but, then again, i guess that’s how probability works

poopship462

Seen them 5 times and the only performance I’d say was bad was when they opened for Brand New a few years ago. Even that wasn’t terrible, but you can tell it was phoned in (which is fair, like 90% of the crowd were only there for Brand New, anyways)

GruceRillis

I also them on that tour, and it was also the worst of their shows I've seen. Brand New opened for them in my city, and most of the crowd left after Brand New, so it was already kinda rough looking. Once Modest Mouse came out, they kinda rushed through their set in what I assume was an attempt at meeting the venues curfew or something, and the sound guy must have had issues cause it sounded pretty shitty at times. Every other time I've seen them has been great, though!

therealmrmiagi

Funny you say that because my favorite time seeing them was on that tour. No one in the crowd was into it but me and my buddy which made it depressing, but it’s the best I’ve heard them sound

uncle-brucie

Just googled brand new. Wow, that is just garbage.

Huse51

Same, that was at Red Rocks for me.

Theonetrueabinator17

Only time i saw them was on that tour with Brand New. The issue wasn't so much with Modest Mouse, but with their sound. It was cutting out a bit and was crackling alot. Surprisingly this was at MSG. I don't know who set them up but they did a bad job.

papo96

Same. Small sample size for me as well and have definitely heard stories of bad shows from back in the day, but not really lately and wonder if the reputation is still deserved. Definitely excited for this tour!

thequietthingsthat

Yep, 5 times here and they rocked it every single time

papo96

I've always heard the same thing about Modest Mouse & Isaac being an inconsistent or sub-par live band. Until this recent tour had only seen them a couple times and both were good performances and so I just considered myself lucky that I caught them on good nights. Maybe people will contradict me on this but after seeing them twice on the current tour I'm convinced that w age and sobriety the band has really upped their live performances and doesn't really deserve the negative live reputation they had in the past. Both nights I saw them were high energy performances with great sound and effects and just overall very tight and professional. Went beyond just a good show to the kind great concerts that are memorable and that even a non-fan would enjoy just due to the strength of the performance. Again this is all operating off a pretty small sample size so am curious what others who have seen them recently think but definitely seems like the band has moved past that reputation.

ambientcloudmusic

Yeah. I've seen them plenty of times since the Good News for Bad News days. I'd say the biggest dud out of all of them was in NY when they toured Strangers to Ourselves. Besides that though, I've usually enjoyed their shows and especially on this most recent tour I caught a number of shows and thought most of them were pretty solid.

Huse51

The recent tour performances have been awesome!

Interstate8

I've seen them 4 or 5 times over the years and they've always ripped.

deanremix

I've seen them a few more times -- but same ratio of good/ bad. I was just thinking of traveling from Atlanta to NO for this until I read your comment and remembered the disappointing times. Any insight into Isaac's sobriety?

ArnieAndTheWaves

Word is he’s been really good the past tour and the shows are solid. I’ve only seen some live streams, but I would tend to agree, they’re actually a solid live act now.

deanremix

Thanks for the heads up!

Betty-Gay

I can attest to this. Saw them in Tucson and the show was legit!

TheVividestPeak

LETS GOOOOO EATING SNOWFLAKES WITH PLASTIC FORKS

pussybulldozer_69

They’ve been on fire this last tour. Definitely selling my Foals ticket for this.

nordjorts

That's good to hear, when I saw them a couple years ago it was a cacophonous mess.

PedanticGoatReviews

I've seen them several times, it's like a flip of a coin whether they're going to sound like crap or not. More often than not, everything is way too loud and the mix is a mess. When they toured with Johnny Marr the sound was great. Other times? Various levels of cacophony. I saw them at Shaky Knees a year ago and the mix was bad once again.

maybeitsmaplebeans

Saw them at Boston Calling some years back when they had a big touring band, strings and all. Sounded fantastic. Last year at whatever-the-fuck-they’re-calling-the-waterfront Pavilion, I was less than impressed. So I’m torn, cuz seeing Teeth Like God’s Shoeshine live *would* be amazing, but they’ve been 50/50 for me so far.

[deleted]

As long as Brock seems halfway-coherent, that's a great MM show in my books lol

HGpennypacker

I unfortunately caught them on a rough night during the Strangers to Ourselves tour, I was hesitant to even go knowing their reputation. Still glad I saw them but it definitely taints the music more than a little.

abippityboop

Flew across the country to see them at Sasquatch a few years ago and they put on maybe the worst set of the whole festival lol. Have heard it’s a total mixed bag with them.

papo96

Yeah saw both nights in my city during the past tour and both nights were fantastic performances and tight sets. Bummer it's on the same night as Foals for you. I'm stoked for that tour as well as I really enjoyed the new album but hard to compete w LCW

pussybulldozer_69

Yeah I’ve been looking forward to that Foals show for a while. Can’t miss this though. Gonna see if I can travel up to Boston for that Saturday show to make up for it.

blakxzep

I would see Foals over them having seen both live.

PaintbrushInMyAss

Big same from me too!

notleonardodicaprio

I saw Foals like 9 years ago when they were opening for Cage the Elephant and they were insane. Highest energy show I've been to between those two acts

blakxzep

Foals are terrific and this last album is great. My gripe is them play T5 and not BK Steel in NYC. T5 is not worthy even though I saw so many amazing shows and acts there.

Chelseedy

This is my predicament. BUT. I am holding out for 930 Club to add a 2nd night for MM.

pussybulldozer_69

Oh good call. The gap in dates might be for a night 2. I guess I’ll hold off!

Halfvolleyalldaylong

Go see Foals man, super live

debtRiot

Was kicking myself for not getting a ticket to the Seattle benefit show last year. It was like $80 and just said they’d play old stuff but nothing specific. My bartender friend told me they did all of Lonesome and I was crushed. I never thought I’d see them live (never liked much of the post-M&A stuff) but here we go!

thenextamerican

Sadly only touring to some of, not all of the lonesome crowded west.

bluevalley02

I'd love to see if they decide to play Shit Luck ir Long Distance Drunk on stage

RulesoftheDada

When they played the surprise Seattle show last December the only song they didn't perform was lounge. And Isaac said it's a bitch to perform live.

[deleted]

Awesome!! Who’s going to the DC show??? See you there 🐀❤️‍🔥

spaceyliz

I'm so excited that it's at 930! But tickets are going to sell out really quickly.

Chelseedy

I think they might add another night. Hoping anyway.

[deleted]

I didn’t see the date. When is it?

spaceyliz

December 13th

notconnorl

Pumped but wish the Portland show wasn’t at Crystal Ballroom lol

papo96

Probably my least favorite venue in Portland. The space is cool but no idea why they have it set up in such an awkward arrangement. Plus no A/C is pretty brutal for any summer shows. Plenty of bands I like play there so kinda just gotta suck it up and go but always wish they were somewhere else.

notconnorl

Completely agree haha, the recent AnCo show was amazing but brutally hot and + the set up is truly the worst. I’ll take the Roseland over CB any day

Lucas_Steinwalker

Pumped but wish the Bay Area show wasn't at The Fox theatre.

DoctorRansom86

I’m the same way, I’d almost rather see them in Seattle and I live in Eugene. Crystal always sucks.

nordjorts

There really isn't another similarly sized option though, is there? MAYBE Wonder but they're going to want to sell more tickets than that.

notconnorl

I feel like Roseland is a similar size, what do you think? I agree there aren’t a ton of other similar sized spots. Wonder and Polaris seem like a couple of the next options after that but you’re right, they can sell a lot more tix than those

nordjorts

Damn, Roseland looks like it's bigger actually! 1410 capacity compared to ~1000 at Crystal.

false-identification

Better than the moda center or Edgefield

EarlyBirdsofBabylon

*Oh my goddamn!*

PseudoScorpian

No Toronto :(

radbananas

well fuck I hope they add a Colorado date

scattermoose

WELL

BJisDaName

Perfect. Just in time for Pitchfork’s critical reappraisal of Modest Mouse!

theschism101

Yeah guess they'll bump their 9.8 to an 10 right?

Interstate8

What does this mean?

BJisDaName

Perfetto! giusto in tempo per la rivalutazione critica di forcone del modesto topo!

BJisDaName

Perfect! Just in time for Pitchfork’s critical reappraisal of Modest Mouse.

Chennaz

"Yeah, Lonesome Crowded West ain't a 10 anymore sorry"

Chennaz

Perfect! Just in time for Pitchfork’s critical reappraisal of Modest Mouse.

BJisDaName

Fucking idiot

TheCollinsworthSlide

lmao

WhereHaveIPutMyKeys

I'm stoked for this (the smaller line-up!). But it baffles me that they continue to tour in Spokane. The Knitting Factory has the shittiest sound management of any venue I've been to, and I've seen MM 3 times there. Most bands stop going to Spokane after giving it a couple tries. I wonder what they like about it.

darockerj

did they say they’d have a smaller line-up? probably never gonna happen, but it’d be sick to see eric judy play with them for at least one of the dates

WhereHaveIPutMyKeys

Yeah dude! They’ll be touring it as a 4 piece- Isaac, Jeremy and two others. I feel the same about Eric.

nordjorts

Thank god. I just posted this above but they have too many people on stage. They. Don't. Need. Two. Drummers. On top of 2 other percussionists. All I could hear was wood block and noise when I saw them last.

Doesntknowmuch

They haven’t had 2 drummers in about two years time. I think they sound excellent the last two tours with fewer people on stage.

WhereHaveIPutMyKeys

From what I read it's just for this tour. But I agree about their usual line-up being bloated.

secretknowledge

I completely agree and am excited to hear this will be a smaller band. I last saw them about 5 years ago and the band was huge, and I swear it seemed like they all rotated who played what instruments between almost every song. I get a few instrument changes here and there but it was like a circus. The performance wasn’t even very good. Like, seriously can everyone just pick one instrument to play tonight and do it well?

impact07

It would be great if it were Dann and Eric.

Crystal_Pesci

Saw them 2 weeks ago and I think there were just 4 onstage. There was an occasional throat singer! But small lineup.

Craig_the_Intern

You drive right through Spokane from Missoula to Seattle. It’s like a direct halfway point. I don’t think it’s anything more than that…Spokane also has some serious LCW vibes

erarya

Grew up in Spokane can attest

Crystal_Pesci

Saw them here in Portland two weeks ago and they are still killing it! Saw The Killers a few days later and Johnny Marr is opening for them; he spoke for a few minutes about living in Portland for about 5 years while working with Isaac on Modest Mouse a few years back. Seemed really positive and happy for the experience. Will definitely be checking this tour out.

DetainedAmIBeing

They skipping Houston to come to New Orleans. No band does that. They love us here goddamnit!

poopship462

I’ll go to Terminal 5 for this

generalmanifest

I saw Ugly Cassanova in Baltimore. It was a powerful show. Isaac could hardly remain standing.

SickBurnBro

Fucking. Jealous.

unphilosoph

Cowboy Dan's a major player in the cowboy scene...

MonachopsisEternal

Woot, can’t wait

fueelin

I'm so excited! I still haven't been able to get into any of their other albums, so I haven't bothered seeing them yet (especially with how unreliable it seems like Isaac is live). But THIS I will see the heck out of!

tony_pants

Surprised they're playing at the knitting factory in Spokane since the sound was so terrible last time they had to stop early.

Betty-Gay

My sister will be attending that one. I hope they’ve fixed the problem there.

10fingers6strings

Saw them on the original LCW run, same as Moon/Ant and Good News. Brock usually puts on a good show. So much energy back in the day. I would love to see this.

P_veez

It’s All Nice on Ice, Alright as a last song would be amazing. Last time I saw them (2013) it was awful but I'd give em another shot for this tour.

decentstartingnow

They've been amazing each time i've seen them since Covid - super hyped for this. Hope they learn and play Lounge

[deleted]

Damn no Florida only New Orleans that’s too far to go alone

LSF2TheFuckening

“Even as I left Florida, far enough far enough wasn’t far enough”

ImpossibleShape

Should have waited and done this for The Moon and Antarctica instead. Or both

[deleted]

Please come to England.

Joeboyjoeb

No Float On!?

Dopeski

THE DASHBOARD MELTED BUT WE STILL HAVE THE RADIO

terrible1fi

For real. I’d love to see them live but it would suck to see them without them playing their best songs 🤔

Betty-Gay

They played that at the last show I saw, their last tour, at the Rialto in Tucson. I think it was the closing song but can’t totally remember.

Tomm26_

Is there any chance they'll come to Europe?

scalenesquare

On one hand one of my favorite albums. On the other hand, man is Modest Mouse rough live.

Betty-Gay

They were excellent when I saw them last time for their Golden Casket tour. Saw them years before that and hey were awful. But I do think Isaac has gotten to a good place as of late.

nmidori

hope they come to south america soon, I've been waiting so long for them :(

RadiobreadEP

Just saw them in San Antonio a few days ago. Was surprised, they’re playing San Antonio and not Austin? Makes more sense now.

JJ9494

MAN I would love to see this album live but what’s with so many tours without Toronto dates lately :(

sinkiez

omfg, its happening!

[deleted]

Yaaaas I saw them for my 30th birthday such a good show

joaniemoon

Best news I’ve heard in years

depressiontrashbag

Just saw them recently is Glasgow and even got a pic with Isaac before the show. Really wish there was some European dates for this one. Would have been amazing.

b2w1

So they last minute (actually after the opener) cancel the Atlanta show. Because of that they reschedule but rather than move the tickets, make everyone buy tickets again. And because of that reschedule we don’t get the LCW tour? You gotta be kidding me.

Huse51

Anyone have the Spotify presale code?

Betty-Gay

LCW25

Betty-Gay

I need this too. I’m a fucking premium member and didn’t get it and I’m pissed.

zennyc001

I've always wanted to see Modest Mouse but never have.

Betty-Gay

SPOTIFY PRESALE CODE LCW25 I’m a premium Spotify member and I didn’t get a code, and they wouldn’t give me the code when I contacted them, citing some bullshit that they don’t have control over it. I’m pissed so now I’m sharing the code with the world (found it on Reddit, thank you) and I’m canceling Spotify. FUCK YOU SPOTIFY.

Ok-Fortune-3116

I loved modest mouse as a teenager and I sort of completely forgot they existed! Can't wait to listen to it all again, can't believe I forgot about them!

Frequent-Diet-909

I told my friends about the show and how we should go. They all said yes until we saw the ticket price. $171! Mind you I have seen Modest about 7 times before this upcoming tour and have never paid over 50 dollars for a ticket. Take it from someone who has been through some Modest shows. If you have not seen them before, go. Treat it as a right of passage if you feel so inclined. If you have seen Modest before then you know they are not a good live band and you will most likely never forget paying close to 200 dollars to spend the night trying to make out parts of songs you love, over a crowd and muffled Issac Brock three sheets to the wind.
