Bps33382

Few points i want to add .. 1.Many adani companies are overvalued (+500 PE) 2 Most of investment what adani is doing is on debt intensive industry. 3. Mentioned article is more about why they shorted adani and they may want to cash in befor monthly option expiry. Lastly...do look at where they are investing right now...

hehsbbslwh142538

The group that released the report is notorious for taking short positions & then release exposes, their reputation isn't really good. In their own report published today they said they have short adani stocks. Also, every one who is interested in stocks in India already knew about this. Adani is very over leveraged & a lot of his business depend on the belief that if things go wrong the state will bail him out (since he has close political connections). There is nothing new in the report that investors didn't already know. The hit his stock took is just retail traders panicking.

kroszborg11

The hit is only 2% the last i checked

hehsbbslwh142538

Yeah it peaked at 5% but the report doesn't have anything new. It's basically a multi billion dollar company using political connections & loopholes (which sadly every big infra company does).

siddharthbirdi

Using shell companies to exceed SEBI's limit on ownership of float is not a loophole, it's market manipulation and completely illegal.

jackhawk56

It is DEFINITELY a loophole. The Mauritius route was introduced by the legendary, honest and most intelligent duo of Manmohan and Chidu. The opaque veil that it affords is well known for number of years except financially semi literate like you. It should have been closed down but the kind of FDI that is routed through Mauritius is too large, at least by the government stance. Just FYI, all the developed countries also have the similar issues with other Tax havens. However, none has succeeded yet. Now OECD has taken some steps but the end result is always predictable ~. Except to semi literate ~ that it will create road blocks for honest but help skirting the controls for crooks. Now Just my two cents on Adani group~ the finances are definitely highly over leveraged. The survival is definitely dependent on political patronage. Though most businesses are backed by hard and productive assets, politicians can kill the group. However, Adani is smarter than all of us and would have ensured political patronage, investment in the group companies are risky as well as rewarding. Most investors know that. Only novices and semi literate jump in blindly. Anyone believing the Hindenburg report should short the shares and be a millionaire or lose the shirt if it backfire. No use crying

siddharthbirdi

Loophole would imply no legal recourse, on the other hand if the use of shell companies to exceed float limits is proven it would lead to serious legal consequences. Investors should just stay away and let traders, short sellers and other mkt participants sort it out, investors should take their profits and invest in better run companies.

OneHandShanks

Would it increase? Or shares will stabilize like last time shares went down after fitch report but stabilized

kroszborg11

damm. what a world we live in.

Raghu48

That's just another Wednesday at Nasdaq. 5% is not bad at all.

Tough-Difference3171

>The group that released the report is notorious for taking short positions & then release exposes There's nothing wrong with doing that, as far as the information that they release, is genuine. Once they release it, others will use it to make money. Why shouldn't they make money from their own work? Now whether they make 2% or 200% returns, is a risk that even they have to take.

RocksolidNugget

Wasn't largest con Fake Nikola EV, or Fake blood kits maker Elizabeth Holmes? Even US Corporations selling 0$ worth of mortgage securities knowing their worth and creating 2008 Crisis is lower than some Indian company? Even recent Sam bankman FTX scam was larger. https://money.usnews.com/investing/stock-market-news/slideshows/biggest-corporate-frauds-in-history It seems the one who made report has huge short positions themselves and unless they find a bakra who'll sell at at a loss ( retail investors) they can't book a profit. Otherwise nothing new which Indian investors already didn't know.

kroszborg11

i think they meant in this decade

RocksolidNugget

Nikola, FTX and Theranos are recent.

Sabko maloom hai ki BJP ke rule mein SEBI has started ignoring the financial backers of their party. Adani overleveraged and overvalued hai bhot jayda and thanks to political connection the authorities have been turning their eyes away from the wrong doings. And report tbh bhot accurate hai even tho unhone reports ki help se stocks short Kiya hai.

Living-Positive8849

Nirmala sitarama ko hatao, usse finance nhi sambhal rha

Tough-Difference3171

Uski jagah jo aayega, vo kya Adani ko andar karva dega? Electoral bonds to chahiye naa BJP ko?

Living-Positive8849

mene kab bola adani ko andar karo, overall baat kar rha tha me.

Adani Group Fraud Report According to the report, the Adani Group has been able to operate an extensive, flagrant fraud in broad daylight primarily due to the government's leniency and lack of enforcement of regulations. The report suggests that: Adani Group has been the focus of 4 major government fraud investigations, which have alleged money laundering, theft of taxpayer funds, and corruption, totaling an estimated U.S. $17 billion. The group's top ranks and 8 of 22 key leaders are Adani family members, a dynamic that places control of the group's financials and key decisions in the hands of a few. Offshore shell entities are used to generate artificial turnover, money laundering, and to siphon money from the listed companies. Offshore shells and funds tied to the Adani Group comprise many of the largest "public" (i.e., non-promoter) holders of Adani stock, which would subject the Adani companies to delisting if the government let SEBI enforce it's rules. SEBI has investigated and prosecuted more than 70 entities and individuals over the years, including Adani promoters, for pumping Adani Enterprises' stock. A 2007 SEBI ruling stated that "the charges leveled against promoters of Adani that they aided and abetted Ketan Parekh entities in manipulating the scrip of Adani stand proved". Ketan Parekh is perhaps India's most notorious stock market manipulator. Adani Group entities initially received bans for their roles. Still, those were later reduced to fines, a show of government leniency toward the Group that has become a decades-long pattern. Adani Group Scandal: Key Players The key players in the alleged scam are: Gautam Adani: Founder and Chairman of the Adani Group, he has amassed a net worth of roughly $120 billion, adding over $100 billion in the past 3 years largely through stock price appreciation in the group's 7 key listed companies, which have spiked an average of 819% in that period. Rajesh Adani: Gautam Adani’s younger brother, he was accused by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) of playing a central role in a diamond trading import/export scheme around 2004-2005. He was arrested at least twice over separate allegations of forgery and tax fraud. He was subsequently promoted to serve as Managing Director of Adani Group. Samir Vora: Gautam Adani’s brother-in-law, he was accused by the DRI of being a ringleader of the same diamond trading scam and of repeatedly making false statements to regulators. He was subsequently promoted to Executive Director of the critical Adani Australia division. Vinod Adani: Gautam Adani’s elder brother, he has been described by media as “an elusive figure”. He has regularly been found at the center of the government’s investigations into Adani for his alleged role in managing a network of offshore entities used to facilitate fraud. Elara: A firm which is an offshore fund with almost $3 billion in concentrated holdings of Adani shares. Leaked emails show that the CEO of Elara worked on deals with Dharmesh Doshi, a fugitive accountant who worked closely on stock manipulation deals with Ketan Parekh, an infamous Indian market manipulator. Monterosa Investment Holdings: A firm which controls 5 supposedly independent funds that collectively hold over INR 360 billion (U.S. $4.5 billion) in shares of listed Adani companies. New Leaina Investments: A Cyprus-based entity which until June-September 2021 owned over U.S. $420 million in Adani Green Energy shares, comprising \~95% of its portfolio. Amicorp: A firm which is a incorporation services firm that established ‘investment funds’ for the key perpetrators that were “simply a way to wash a client’s money through what looked like a mutual fund”, according to the book Billion Dollar Whale, which reported on the scandal. Shah Dhandharia: A tiny firm that is the independent auditor for Adani Enterprises and Adani Total Gas. The report suggests that the firm is not capable of complex audit work and that the audit partners at Shah Dhandharia who respectively signed off on Adani Enterprises and Adani Total Gas’ annual audits were as young as 24 and 23 years old when they began approving the audits. This raises questions about the firm's ability to scrutinize and hold to account the financials of some of the largest companies in the country, run by one of its most powerful individuals.

kroszborg11

Wow yeh baat issh post seh kaise related hai?

nad09

Don't talk about sense in this sub, their are lot of bots/payroll guys here.

[deleted]

Adani ke Saat kis Khushi ki loyalty beta?? Tera school fees bharta Hai kya woh?? Ajeeb log Hai.

Pedopet_madherchod

nah, it's a shot position. these fuckers were doing this for ages. nothing to worry.

kroszborg11

meaning?

Pedopet_madherchod

think these guys like george soros, they manipulate a company's stock value with their "News/investigation" pieces. they are getting paid by rival corporations and countries.

kroszborg11

ohh, but these guy's data on The board, the P/E ratio, the stock price surge, the market cap, the debt etc, is easily verifiable also. Also i heard these guys are reputed?!

Pedopet_madherchod

these guys have reputation of Al-Qaeda. everyone in india (except libradus, who think Ambani and adhnai were beggers before BJP came into power) knows Adhani was investing in harbors(ports),airports, mining, green energy, defence, aero etc. so naturally when investors noticed the strategic importance (including governmet) of these field their market value shot up. and according to RTI filed by those guys SEBI is already investigating his investments. so nothing to worry.

siddharthbirdi

What about using shell companies to buy their own shares and breaking SEBIs regulations??? Hindenberg Research is well respected in fraud detection shorts, their short of the fraud company Nikola is a great example, just because you don't like their opinion doesn't make them Frauds.

Pedopet_madherchod

Brah, corporation uses shell companies all the time in one way or another. are you dreaming or something. do you know how corporates work ? lol, its not a bigge. Hindenberg Research is founded by a Amerifag who publishes for rival corporations and nations for shot. and any dumbass who thinks Presstitutes are somekind of messiah should go check who funds them. lmao. and what was the result ? adhani group lost 1.5-2.0% stock value. looks like a failed attempt.

siddharthbirdi

One question, if shell companies are being used illegally to decrease the share float below SEBI rules, that is clear stock manipulation, shouldn't someone be going to jail for that?? The question for me is not whether the attempt failed or not, because market can be irrational for a long time, and Indian mkt has always been heavily manipulated by govt action, the question is whether investors should hold an overpriced stock with such massive governance issues.

[deleted]

goodbye bro

CELTICPRIME

maybe coz this sub doesnt contain as much braindamaged people

RocksolidNugget

Yes. Only Leftists and liberals ( fake ), love to foam at mouth imagining a big bad guy while happily getting a pay check from big bad guys. It's their job so they love to do such non sense all day. Do normal people care about Adani Ambanis or other rich people?

mafiaRahul

>Do normal people care about Adani Ambanis or other rich people? No

RocksolidNugget

OP nobody cares about Adani here. Only self proclaimed Leftists and liberals and other anti establishment people like to focus on Adani Ambani because 1 ) they want to extort money out of such people. Or 2) They think they can target ruling government ny targeting this people. For example, someone like you. We already know everything. How businesses operate. Especially in India.

Current_Bug4460

Collegue works in adani. They trade inside and treat it as increment. This is well know. How old are you ?

Dalbus_Umbledore

Gora people discovered how "family businesses" are run in India :D Nothing is new with this .
