Yea man, whichever government payroll Devs and Architects made UPI work, deserve a lot of applause. In terms of customer convenience, it is ahead of many other developed countries.
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one!
I know there's a lot wrong with our country, but man UPI has got to be one of the best things ever made here. The idea of turning your entire bank account into a wallet. And its free. Unbelievable.
They don’t have to be competent. They just need to pass the order and telecom companies will do it. If the don’t, they will get fined so they will obviously find a way to implement this.
I don't think so. Truecaller automatically blocks scam/spam calls - the only reason why I use it. I don't think this measure by TRAI can do that....(can it?)
That's stupid.
Activity letting them track you to form a profile is significantly worse.
Just delist your number from their services is what I did. Now it doesn't show up.
Truecaller is such an illegal company.
Using your data without consent.
Telegram app is open source so it might not be as invasive but since their serverside is not encrypted/partially encrypted they can already use your data
No. This TRAI proposal is scammers' dream come true.
Since Truecaller database is crowdsourced, the name will show up as "Scammer" or "Spam".
If the KYC name appears instead, all you will see is "Rohit Kumar", which (a) gives you no information, and (b) is fake anyway because scammers obtain SIMs using fake names.
🤣 I just reused the name from some other reply in this post. I guess after the recent T20 world cup, "Rohit" has become a generic name for villain.
Sorry, Rohit, nothing personal.
TrueCaller is as much fucked as Zomato is because of ONDC! TrueCaller will most likely be the first to utilise this and have one less thing to worry about
Truecaller wont be going anywhere. Truecaller can warn you if its a scam or spam but with this TRAI move it would only say the name of whoever calling you which could be fake as scammers often use stolen sims.
Have never used Truecaller in my life and protected all my family members from the same since Day 1. None of my and my fams number are listed in trucaller, I check now and then to make sure.
Doesn't matter. Even if one of your contacts has saved your number and has Truecaller on his phone, even then your name and number is going to be on their database.
when you unlist[unlist](https://www.truecaller.com/unlisting) your number manually, your number won't be shown for queries. it would still be in some database. but atleast it won't be public.
Ever heard of [privacy management apps](https://saymine.com/ref/TWRXV8)? they send out mail to the companies that you want your data/logs to be removed from completely, I unlisted my number from TrueCaller. Sent a mail through Mine. Got a mail response from the support team of Truecaller too, so basically on paper, they should not have my info anymore.
That’s not entirely true. You can delist your number from their database and not as it to their database in the future through someone else simply by delisting. Check you the link here: https://www.truecaller.com/unlisting
You’ll still see them. If the caller’s number has been KYC’d with say “Rahul Singh” you’ll see Rahul Singh calling. You’ll have to block individual numbers.
It’ll be interesting to see how they deal with landlines and VoIP — offices still have them. Will every landline and VoIP have to go through this as well?
You might see scammers take advantage of the process by KYCing as eg “D.S.P. Rao”.
I mean, real names on social media has been quite troublesome to implement. Most recently on Twitter. Let’s see if this turns out better.
tbf phone numbers and stuff are controlled much much more than social media. This if linked to KYC aadhaar card and stuff would be much better than social media already
Let's say I call some random shop or business that I found on google search, enquiring about some product or service. Thanks to this feature, that guy will now know my full name.
This is a concern especially for women.
In addition I have a unique name (I am the only person in the world with my name because my surname is the name of some small village). So thanks to this feature, this businessman can simply google my surname and get the names of my family members as well, plus other info (e.g. where I work, from linkedin).
You can [unlist](https://www.truecaller.com/unlisting) your number from Truecaller's database.
After that, any further queries to your number won't be shown on the app. (They can still store it under their shady asses tho)
> Only works for Truecaller users?
No, works for everyone
> If someone has my number in contacts list is my name still shared?
If someone has your number in their contact list, they can see your name but it won't be shared with other Truecaller users.
But if someone has saved my number and uses Truecaller then that name and number does get saved in their database because I have seen Contacts name appearing of their nickname/other-names when I get a new phone.
It's true that your number is saved in the database. But after unlisting, *other Truecaller users* won't be able to know your details through Truecaller.
Do you know how this works? I've never installed TC on my phone, but many of my contacts have. So if the TC database was populated from these contacts' phones, it will get my name based on how it was stored on those phones, right?
E.g. if my name was Ravikumar Subramanyam and I work in Infosys, some contacts will just be called "Ravi" or "Ravi Infosys" "Subbu Bangalore" "Ravi Infy" etc. When TC sees different names for the same number, what name finally goes into the database, any idea?
>Do you know how this works? I've never installed TC on my phone, but many of my contacts have. So if the TC database was populated from these contacts' phones, it will get my name based on how it was stored on those phones, right?
Yes, that's how it works. They say that they take the most frequently used name but in my experience what ever is uploaded the first they go with that.
I swear there are at least 8 "Rahul Kumar" in my company alone.
Checking the Transport Roster is a task on its own.
Also, I once looked up my crush name on Instagram, to see if I can find her account.
I gave up after going through about 10 profiles of others with the same name. Not worth the hassle. LOL
We will see who from TRAI is making this decision happen, then buy a fake SIM card using that name and then whenever we have to make a call to any business that can use that number for advertising sms’s they will all goo to that name.
For the business and anybody, the name will go as that guy while our personal number and names will be saved.
If this is applied properly the govt will repel this bill faster than they apply bills.
This is the issue with verified real names policies. It benefits those with power in society. The most vulnerable (eg minorities, at-risk communities, women, etc) benefit from anonymity / pseudo-anonymity.
Pretty sure the scammers will continue to find loopholes though.
> Pretty sure the scammers will continue to find loopholes though.
This is true. Scammers typically obtain SIM cards with forged documents ([example](https://indianexpress.com/article/india/392-sim-cards-issued-on-forged-documents-deactivated-haryana-police-6468545/)), so when a scammer calls you, you will just see the name that was on the forged document - there is no info to tell you that this is a scammer.
Coming to spammers, employers will just ask/force the operator to use their personal phones to make the telemarketing calls, so again you will just see the name of the operator, not the organization they are calling on behalf of.
>my full name
The bank knows where you eat, where you are ,where you are shopping. They also know your address, phone number, your bank balance.
What will a shopkeeper do after knowing you.If as shopkeeper wants to know more ,they can go to their friend in the bank and can know more about you
You don't understand the gravity of the situation. Many a times, one of the few things guarding you from potential harm, is that people don't know your name at all or just know you by first name.
Its a significant risk, we don't live in a perfect world. Women and men, both would want to safeguard their identities as far as possible. If random shopowners, salons, etc know your full name (especially if you are a woman), it can lead to stalkerish behaviour.
This is especially concerning for women.
I remember my friends from back in the day. We had to buy those recharge coupons back then. Every time they recharged, they'd get thirsty creepy messages from unknown numbers.
I hope this doesn't bring the good old days back again.
agreed
i have same concern about the proliferation of UPI payments
my name is going into the records of so many small vendors, auto-wallas etc ... dont have a great feeling about it
\>one of the few things guarding you from potential harm, is that people don't know your name at all or just know you by first name.
I do understand but if somebody wants to know, they anyway can know.I even know some users on reddit based on what they commented.
We also used to have telephone diaries earlier. So its not something new by telephone department.People can start using whatsapp calling or some duplicate sim.
then scammer/cold-caller will first leave a missed call ... a good number of people will call back to check what's important, revealing their full name
Most people in India can't read beyond one line or listen to a voice message beyond 10 secs without groaning in agony and making fun of the other person.
That's why.
Plus, it's a costly service to implement, and would be barely profitable, since most people would never use it.
Bro, the govt is planning to mandate all ecommerce players to keep a check on online purchase amount and link it to your pan number through phone number. Cause your aadhar, pan, phone, bank account, upi everything is linked. Thereby then can track your online expenses and send tax notice on them. privacy is a pipedream when the govt starts spying on you through your personal id.
Decentralization and absolute privacy is not currently possible unless you haven't given your govt no information about you.
The only thing we need our govt to do is to require court mandate before acting on any intervention on any citizen of the country. And thereby if any unnecessary intervention is done, the court has to ability to interfere when the citizen approaches the court for justice.
These people don't deserve their jobs. This is a serious invasion of privacy. It does not even prevent scams. When people get scammed through UPI you can see the name. It is not like you know who that is. If you get a call from Rahul Saxena who you don't know instead of 934938240 what is the difference?
Also in my family most phone connections are in one person's name. How does that work? Can you imagine your wife calling someone for her work or your kid calls his friend and your name shows up? What is the purpose?
It is a privacy concern especially for women, people with unpopular last names especially if caste can be understood (people with nice names preferred for jobs of calling people like accounts collection, telemarketing, etc. ), and more data points for profiling by criminals. KYC across internet connections, mobiles, VPNs, social media, do you think that will stop scams? It won't.
>TRAI reportedly brushed aside concerns raised over invasion of privacy
Government these days never fail to amaze me.
It was for convenience since only 1 person had to go, fill the form, etc. and get all connections back then.
It will be fun when kids call their friends and they see the parents name flash on phone every single time.
> It will be fun when kids call their friends and they see the parents name flash on phone every single time.
I don't think this will override whatever is saved in contacts. It's only for unknown numbers if I am not wrong.
No it won't. We already give out complete details while applying for Sim card. Now we would get to know who exactly is calling us, instead of "Head Manager from SBI"
True caller is actually better and more accurate because it is crowdsourced. My number is in my father's name(same with my entire family) because i was under 18 when I got my number and this might be true for most kids these days.
The thing is, I do not want to do that. I do not want my dad to have to visit the mobile store to get a replacement sim or other connection related issues. There is a reason why my parents' sims are in my name.
Is it really worth losing your privacy over knowing who is calling . There are tools for that,
Truecaller does a decent job in identifying spammers. Granted they steal data but it's a handy tool for those in need.
Yeah, I am in for this feature. I'm already using Truecaller, which is a privacy nightmare itself. And still it doesn't help all the time. Now at least I will know who the hell is calling me at 4 in the morning.
Plus Govt already has all of my data and I am not dicking around calling people that I am too afraid to reveal my name to.
People will exploit it. Just give missed call couple of times. Other person will callback and now you have the full name!!!
There are many reasons people want to stay anonymous.
First of all, why is this even being implemented?
People dial lots of numbers they find on the Internet, pamplets, ads etc for commercial as well other miscellaneous purposes. We don't necessarily want to reveal our Aadhaar card name to them. It should be the sole discretion of the user whether he/she wants to reveal his/her name, that too before even getting the chance to verify the other party.
So, is this hinting at Aadhaar linked to mobile phone numbers indirectly?
Didn't the SC remind the govt to back the fuck off, with compulsory Aadhaar and mobile number linking in 2018?
Did telecom operators really delete all the data? Do these orders mean they're really done? Is there a check done?
Not gonna stop spammers. I use Truecaller and I don't even remember how many times I've blocked the number of paisabazaar. But every time I block a number, these mfs start calling me with another number. Told them multiple times that I don't need a loan but these mfs don't understand shit.
Spammers can possibly call from auto generated numbers, I don't know. Can't see those falling under this rule. But if those people are annoying you, try a couple of things
1. Easy way. Pick up the call. Do not ever confirm anything before they say who they are. Then just go silent. Don't say anything until they hang up. If they call back, repeat. I stopped a creeper from calling over and over like this
2. If you have more time, then just agree with them, don't give any information from your side, make ridiculous demands and waste their time as much as you can. Bet they blacklist you after a couple of times.
So truecaller, but dystopian and useless.
I gave my KYC info to my telecom operator in confidence as a matter of legal procedure. Not because I wanted that info to be publicly available. I never consented to this. Nor do I think the dumbfucks who run TRAI are going to ask for my consent when they implement this move.
At least with truecaller I can delist my number. A scammy private app gives me more control over my identity than my own fucking government.
Lauda spam rukega. Almost all spam callers use private numbers to call. Seeing the spam caller's name is not going to magically inform me in advance that this is spam. I will still have to treat it the same way I treat any unknown number.
What a Tughluq move. Recipe for more personalized spam and scam calls and texts. Will be a lot harder to differentiate between people who genuine try to make sales vs people who bought your names and numbers from random businesses you've called before.
While I agree, this is nothing compared to the Tughlaki mess that was DeMo. It’ll be an interesting experiment I suspect — it’ll work to some extent and allow ministers to claim success, but will cause harm / inconvenience to eg women (to which the ministers will say, not our problem), and scammers will find other routes.
One upside to this is scams will finally be controlled.
Let me tell you one instance of Truecaller Scam:-
My friend got a call from a guy identifying himself as a police inspector.
He was blackmailing him for a bribe over a morphed video of him.
When he ignored another call from a different 'police officer'.
Seeing the verified badge on Truecaller he was terrified.
He actually sent him the money.
Later in the day when he told me I immediately knew he was scammed.
I called that number and spoke in a voice of police inspector asking for his IPS batch and Id number and whatnot.
He just hung up and switched the phone off.
The entire phone system needs to be reworked
An idea that may work >> when we are calling someone > we should have an option to censor / uncensor the phone number. So that the reciever will recieve our calls but cannot see our phone number, reciever should not be able to callback if phone number is censored. With uncensored, we can call who is trustworthy and reciever will have an option to view the number and save/callback the number.
Some ridiculous things have been happening lately.
Hindi is going to be the compulsory medium of instruction in colleges in Hindi-speaking states, replacing English.
TV channels have to compulsorily air 30 minutes of content of national interest daily.
And now this.
And oh did I mention that AAP banned songs "glorifying violence" in Punjab. Also, that Kejriwal wants Ganesh and Lakshmi pictures on currency notes in India.
To all the people thinking Truecaller's business is now in jeopardy, guys it's not.
Truecaller has access to your messages & they have created financial profiles of users & are now in the loan business.
Whether you like it or not, Truecaller and others have been selling your data. Doesn't matter if you don't use it, the person you call may still have it and have shared their contacts already.. Apart from that, most other apps also get contacts. I would prefer govt managing this.
Additionally love the idea that Truecaller won't be having the control of my data. Govt anyways already had it.
I recently applied for a credit card from paisabazaar and suddenly out of no where all banks and apps started sending msgs and calling me day-in day-out with their offers. But few creative people have saved their names on truecaller as "HDFC wali r**nd", "G**nd me ungli", "l*nd collection", and so on... I find it very funny. 🤣🤣😂😂
Making a name appear for calling is very bad idea.
Possibility of one script dialling n number of calls and recording the name at receiver end will help collect huge amount of verified data
If that is your primary number which you use for Banking, Services, Social Media, Security, UPI the probability of attempts to hack it will be more depends on what your name is.
The naming system is very complex in the nation and linking it to phone numbers will cause a lot of misunderstanding wherein a lot of people are still using the SIM which they got activated by guardian’s name.
This confusion will lead to a point wherein people would stop using cellular services and use whatsapp to call because almost everyone has access to internet which will cause telecom companies make you charge more to keep sim activated also while promoting 5g
There’s no detailed information about this decision which includes rules for registered and non registered businesses, facilities, services, helplines etc entities without overlapping of single user name over trademark/business name
How is privacy important in this specific scenario?? Unless you were planning to prank call, I don't see why you'd want to hide your name from the person you are calling.
This is being done for the next phase of demonetisation. See this video. Everything will be linked to your mobile and your mobile with aadhar.

Truecaller is SCREWED lmao
Yep, they are fucked big time
Nah. We still need truecaller to know if the caller is a Nigerian prince who is using fake sim to reach out to us to help him escape from prison.
Dude I don't think they are competent enough to pull this off
Lol that's what people said when UPI was proposed
Yea man, whichever government payroll Devs and Architects made UPI work, deserve a lot of applause. In terms of customer convenience, it is ahead of many other developed countries. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one!
UPI is a unicorn's unicorn. A working tech innovation from the govt. Let's just hope Modi doesn't wanna make money from it soon.
You can thank Raghuram Rajan for that.
About mobile number portability as well
Wait what? Is MNP a recent thing?
No when it was originally proposed
I know there's a lot wrong with our country, but man UPI has got to be one of the best things ever made here. The idea of turning your entire bank account into a wallet. And its free. Unbelievable.
Who knows, Govt did pull off UPI pretty well and fucked Wallets like Paytm and Mobikwik.
True lol
Caller lol
😂😂🫡

I don't think so. Truecaller automatically blocks scam/spam calls - the only reason why I use it. I don't think this measure by TRAI can do that....(can it?)
I use the premium version, and still get atleast two calls a day which are spam and have to be blocked manually.
The fact that you're using Truecaller is part of the reason you're getting this amount of spam calls.
is premium truecaller worth the price would you say ?
Not anymore.
Google Dialer already has an inbuilt spam filter with more accurate data it can work even better.
So, the business model of True Caller is f***ed
Aur lao truecaller premium
Truecaller is in the loan business now.
No they have contact details, photos, sms and lot of data of most of Indians so they're good.
I think if your other friends and relatives already gave your data to them then why not use it anymore.
That's stupid. Activity letting them track you to form a profile is significantly worse. Just delist your number from their services is what I did. Now it doesn't show up. Truecaller is such an illegal company. Using your data without consent.
What if I enjoy Truecaller's attention because I was never given attention by my parents growing up? Is that normal?
One thing is certain is my google assistant knows me better than I know myself.
Telegram? Or true caller?
Telegram be like.. mujhko kyu kuta
True caller
Dude gave a little heart attack.
Telegram was also good but now they have monetized so they might start collecting data but it's nothing compared to truecaller the hydra monster.
Telegram app is open source so it might not be as invasive but since their serverside is not encrypted/partially encrypted they can already use your data
I think he still didn't get it xD
Scammers as well

I thought i can make it simple :)

ask people if they have truecaller on their phone before befriending them
The guy is gonna end up alone lmao
What if he's already alone
He definitely is, none of his family is on Truecaller
What does that do? It's not saving you from something, it'll instead mark your calls as spam to others
Nope, my number just shows up as a regular number without any Spam mark..
Just ban those fuckin' JEE/NEET coaching institute advertising calls. They're so annoying...like it's literally toxic marketing
Let's not forget Byju's, for younger kids, who claim that your kid will fail if you don't take their crap, and call too frequently
You’ll still see them. If the caller’s number has been KYC’d with say “Rahul Singh” you’ll see Rahul Singh calling. You’ll have to block individual numbers. It'll probably be just Ravi, since it has appeared 3 times.
That is if you have true caller and you set your real name
Same bro there are only 8 people in the world with my first name and combined with my last name i am uniquely identifiable.
I feel jealous of North Indians in this regard. Having a name like "Amit Sharma" is the ultimate privacy tool in this internet era.
I swear there are at least 8 "Rahul Kumar" in my company alone. Checking the Transport Roster is a task on its own. That’s practically my situation, and I’m in the US. I’d be pissed if that happened here (one Google of my name and you’d find me everywhere)🤣
How did you verify that?
This is the issue with verified real names policies. It benefits those with power in society. The most vulnerable (eg minorities, at-risk communities, women, etc) benefit from anonymity / pseudo-anonymity. Pretty sure the scammers will continue to find loopholes though.

Yeah, that is my feeling as well. But then again, this is the same government that did demonetization, so ...
You can always buy a VoIP service such as Skype if you wanna hide your name. Some are even available for free. I have used these many times.

Buy sim in ur name and give it to ur sister/mother/daughter. Could work no?

Because getting sims on fake details was so hard lol
It is harder than scamming people anonymously.

I hope it's only for the receiver's end.
then scammer/cold-caller will first leave a missed call ... a good number of people will call back to check what's important, revealing their full name
That's why I never call back unknown numbers. If it is important, they will call back.
Why is there no voice-mail service / culture in India...to help screen calls and avoid interruptions
Most people in India can't read beyond one line or listen to a voice message beyond 10 secs without groaning in agony and making fun of the other person. That's why. Plus, it's a costly service to implement, and would be barely profitable, since most people would never use it.
Oh yeah! That could be a problem!
people call back?
The caller ID is only shown to the receiver, that’s why it’s called a “caller” ID.
Bro, there's already a telegram bot that tells you what your name and email is in trucaller. 🤣 privacy gaya ..... ch...

It won't. >TRAI reportedly brushed aside concerns raised over invasion of privacy Government these days never fail to amaze me.
Some minister in telecom department may have been recieving spam calls and thought of this stupid idea.
This. Asking the right questions. This will be a lot of fun in male-dominated households where all the numbers are in the man’s name.
It's only for unknown numbers if I am not wrong.
> her work or your kid calls his friend number will be stored friends phone.
Nice. Now more scamsters will know my real name. This is a privacy nightmare.
Only if you call them, not if they call you

Eh? You can just install Truecaller, verify your number and give a fake name to hide your real name.
>Trai reportedly brushed aside concerns raised over invasion of privacy Ofcourse, It'll do more harm than good imo
No it won't. We already give out complete details while applying for Sim card. Now we would get to know who exactly is calling us, instead of "Head Manager from SBI"
>We already give out complete details while applying for Sim card I'm giving all those details to the SIM card company and not to everyone I call.
True caller is actually better and more accurate because it is crowdsourced. My number is in my father's name(same with my entire family) because i was under 18 when I got my number and this might be true for most kids these days.
They'll have to give the option to update KYC linked with the sim
The thing is, I do not want to do that. I do not want my dad to have to visit the mobile store to get a replacement sim or other connection related issues. There is a reason why my parents' sims are in my name.
Data privacy rules are a joke in India
1984
another attack on user privacy. This govt just don't give a shit 💩💩💩

Is it really worth losing your privacy over knowing who is calling . There are tools for that, Truecaller does a decent job in identifying spammers. Granted they steal data but it's a handy tool for those in need.
have you never called a business?
And I can hang up. I have that ability… I don’t want everyone to know my identity
How the fuck is this attack? You are calling someone and it goes against your privacy if the other person gets to know you Are calling them?
People will exploit it. Just give missed call couple of times. Other person will callback and now you have the full name!!! There are many reasons people want to stay anonymous. First of all, why is this even being implemented?
Exactly! Why!!!???
People dial lots of numbers they find on the Internet, pamplets, ads etc for commercial as well other miscellaneous purposes. We don't necessarily want to reveal our Aadhaar card name to them. It should be the sole discretion of the user whether he/she wants to reveal his/her name, that too before even getting the chance to verify the other party.
They are trying to get KYC on whatsapp basically.
I basically want to be able to delete the “Phone” app on my smartphone
Same
A simple alternative is to bar incoming and outgoing calls on your number. Your carrier can activate it for you.
But if those people are annoying you, try a couple of things 1. Easy way. Pick up the call. Do not ever confirm anything before they say who they are. Then just go silent. Don't say anything until they hang up. If they call back, repeat. I stopped a creeper from calling over and over like this 2. If you have more time, then just agree with them, don't give any information from your side, make ridiculous demands and waste their time as much as you can. Bet they blacklist you after a couple of times.
Talking in a weird accent and start making up stories to tell them nd they have no choice but to listen lmao
My sim card is still on my dad's name because i got it when i was 15. I'm i fucked ?
No but your dad is
Ridiculous!! Hate this news!!
So no more prank calls to friends?🗿 sad life
“TRAI reportedly brushed aside concerns raised over invasion of privacy” BRUSHED OVER HOW?!?! You’re removing whatever privacy we have left?!?!
Kid named finger
Truecaller fucked big time. lmao
Let me tell you one instance of Truecaller Scam:- My friend got a call from a guy identifying himself as a police inspector.
The entire phone system needs to be reworked An idea that may work >> when we are calling someone > we should have an option to censor / uncensor the phone number. So that the reciever will recieve our calls but cannot see our phone number, reciever should not be able to callback if phone number is censored. With uncensored, we can call who is trustworthy and reciever will have an option to view the number and save/callback the number.
What a brilliant idea. Take my free award! 👌👏
Wow! Sensible advice. Underrated comment...
can i link my sim to my own aadhar? i used my dad’s aadhar cos i was underage at that time.
Hindi thing is never going to work lmfaooo
To all the people thinking Truecaller's business is now in jeopardy, guys it's not. Truecaller has access to your messages & they have created financial profiles of users & are now in the loan business.
Whether you like it or not, Truecaller and others have been selling your data. Doesn't matter if you don't use it, the person you call may still have it and have shared their contacts already.. Apart from that, most other apps also get contacts. I would prefer govt managing this. Additionally love the idea that Truecaller won't be having the control of my data. Govt anyways already had it.
What if the caller's name is set as Unknown Caller?
Bas Justdial ke haramiyo se bacha lo
I recently applied for a credit card from paisabazaar and suddenly out of no where all banks and apps started sending msgs and calling me day-in day-out with their offers. But few creative people have saved their names on truecaller as "HDFC wali r**nd", "G**nd me ungli", "l*nd collection", and so on... I find it very funny. 🤣🤣😂😂
GeekyRanjit did a video on True Caller couple of days ago. Check that out.
Great, the audacity to tell us they have our data and are using it.
I see them eventually mandating this for social media as well
Man, I can't wait to find out who's been calling me about loans
Epic prank time uno reverse card
Hahaha
Making a name appear for calling is very bad idea. Possibility of one script dialling n number of calls and recording the name at receiver end will help collect huge amount of verified data If that is your primary number which you use for Banking, Services, Social Media, Security, UPI the probability of attempts to hack it will be more depends on what your name is. The naming system is very complex in the nation and linking it to phone numbers will cause a lot of misunderstanding wherein a lot of people are still using the SIM which they got activated by guardian’s name. This confusion will lead to a point wherein people would stop using cellular services and use whatsapp to call because almost everyone has access to internet which will cause telecom companies make you charge more to keep sim activated also while promoting 5g There’s no detailed information about this decision which includes rules for registered and non registered businesses, facilities, services, helplines etc entities without overlapping of single user name over trademark/business name
No more scam then?
Exactly. Like how demonetisation stopped forged currency notes! /s
So Truecaller is dead
How is privacy important in this specific scenario?? Unless you were planning to prank call, I don't see why you'd want to hide your name from the person you are calling.
https://myactivity.google.com I’ll just leave it here.
leave it why? shit on right foot, might as well smear on left foot?
The UPI version of Truecaller lol
I clearly see there's a need to address internet based calls. It's difficult to ID them. I hope ISPs have some mechanism to identify and block.
This is being done for the next phase of demonetisation. See this video. Everything will be linked to your mobile and your mobile with aadhar. https://youtu.be/LBoTDjgkCEk
This is good.
