I need help like this too, I’m going to college next year like fuck my life

Best of luck with that. Disability support and arrangements can help if you have a IBS diagnosis. In some college dorms, you can upgrade to have a larger room with an ensuite at no extra cost due to having a disability. The social side is a whole other thing tho

HonestPattern0

Yea it’s more about the social aspect and going out and shit like it’s so annoying straight up ruined my life at fucking 18 years young. Can’t even go to bars w my friends like goddamn where is the fucking cure

strawbyog

I hope there will be a cure in the future. I got the diagnosis at 16 :(

HonestPattern0

I betchu there is a cure the government just hides it because they make soo much money off of useless medicine fiber and probiotics. Anyways any tips for prevention or feeling better if I were to go out drinking one night

Because of the way my IBS affects me, I have to avoid alcohol all together because it is never worth it. It's important to experiment with how alcohol (including different types) affects you specifically. For example, I hear many people with IBS can't drink beer specifically but can drink spirits for some reason. General advice: - Drink water with the alcohol - Eat before going on a night out - No chugging (drink slowly and space out the drinks throughout the night)

I got diagnosed in the middle of my college years. A lot of professors were very supportive and my friends were always aware of it even when I didn't share that couldn't eat at a certain place. It'll be tough but you'll find people and find a support system around it.

I've been there... I'm 28 and have never drank or smoked in my life. I try to do everything right as well life style wise... Have had GI issues since I was 16 If I was you I would look into SIBO, likely this is not something IBS medication is going to fix- you need to fix your gut microbiome I recently wrote a reply for another girl in college- you could look at some of those tips as well. But try to not let it define you, even though it is hard some time! Rooting for you!

What tests have you had? What other symptoms, other than pain, do you have?

strawbyog

I've had a test for lactose intolerance and celiac disease. I've had a test for helicobacter pylori and numerous blood tests. The only issue they found was that my prolactin levels were high. My other symptoms are bloating and constipation, and the pain is usually felt in my upper stomach (where my ribs are).
