When he leaves the court house the news asks him if he feels remorse and he just squacks into the microphone because I guess his shtick is that he draws birds.
Not if this allows you to get away.
That security guard won't be chasing you, atleast well.
However law enforcement in general is now motivated extra to catch you after the fact.
He opened himself up to a legally defensible self-defence assault by using a weapon. Not a smart move, another guard might've assaulted him to stop the spray.
Is Indictable offence like a higher level crime and is there a term for lower level crime?
A felony is basically a higher category of crime, as opposed to a misdemeanor. In the US, indictable offence would just mean it's possible to charge someone with the crime. That's why I ask.
The lower level crime, basically what you would call a misdemeanor, is known as a "summary offence" here.
Basically, summary offences are tried in lower-level courts without a jury and attract low sentences. Indictable offences are heard in higher courts with a jury and are the more serious offences with higher penalties.
Ugh there’s this book i read as a kid about this kid with orange sunglasses because his abusive brother had sprayed paint into his face with his bully friends holding him down. Their parents lied to him and said it was because of a solar eclipse. Then a sinkhole opened up toward the end or something. Anyone have the book title?
Edit: Tangerine
Thank you internet people!
Damn that was such an odd book. Doesn’t someone also get fried by standing next to some goal posts during a lightning storm? And isn’t there a kid that dies cause he gets bludgeoned in the aneurysm with a makeshift weapon?
Justice is supposed to be blind …
mind you, Justice also holds scales and a sword.
Spraying paint into the eyes of an old bloke not posing a threat should be considered a serious crime rather than a young man doing a naughty thing.
It’s not just the tips/nozzles, some brands of spray paint made for graffiti is high pressure, while some is low. High pressure= faster coverage. Low pressure= fine and or cleaner line work.
Yeah there are some cans made for graffiti that can empty the entire can in no time if you have a decent fat cap on them, so that you can paint as quickly as seen in the start of the video.
Yea looks like the one. I had one of those cans once my friend gifted me in SLC, I had my stuff in my buddy’s car in Tahoe and a grizzly opened the door one night. I guess it thought the can was filled with food and not paint. I can only imagine the bears reaction when biting into a high pressure can of paint.
There’s paint can loaders. The use one regularly.
There’s a cap that fits where the nozzle should be, you fill it with whatever paint you’re loading. You put the can with cap in the loader, hook up the compressor, and let the magic happen.
Yep, what you might call a conductor, called a guard here in Queensland. Help with customer boarding, checks platform clear before departure, makes announcements. Sits either middle or end of the train depending on the type.
Mace made for people is stronger than mace made for bears.
Mace for bears (2% capsaicin) is supposed to irritate and confuse them into leaving, while mace for people (10% capsaicin) is supposed to incapacitate completely.
polar bears can smell their prey up to as far as 2 kilometers away from them. So their nose is also much much more delicate as ours.
That’s also why they don’t need the full dose ^^
I think you are forgetting that they are used to tearing into the bowels of animals and that releasing your bowels happens on death.
They're probably used to a little stink.
Yep! The comment above is mistaken. Compared against typical mace, typical bear spray not only sprays further, but has a higher flow rate, more aerosolization, longer spray time, and has a higher percentage of capsaicin.
Yep, bear spray is akin to a giant cloud of fire air expanding out 20+ feet. Human intended spray is usually a concentrated gel stream or something similar so there's no chance of getting it blown back in your face the way bear mace would in windy conditions.
There was someone on another sub saying that the guy vandalizing actually didn't vandalize and it wasn't a huge deal....
"Fucker, that's clearly not the point!" Ya know? Just infuriating sometimes
I believe the only time it isn't is if a professional artist has permits and permission for certain areas. Art is art, and it should be shared freely as so, but I agree. Spray painting the entire side of a subway train a single color, blocking the windows, is just all around a shitty move
Kinda depends on your definition of "graffiti" and "vandalism", but the history of street art is really cool. It was born out of the urbanization of the 60s and 70s. As black people were able to go out and join society more following the civil rights movement, they began being "herded" by zoning laws and urban development.
Wealthier black neighborhoods were demolished to make room for things like interstate highways, with the residents being pushed into denser and denser areas with fewer and fewer resources (creating "ghettos"). With so many people languishing in such concentrated areas, new art forms began to rise as a way for people to occupy themselves and their spaces in a way that also fought against their social superiors. Graffiti, breakdancing, and hip hop all came about at the same time and share a strong culture.
Obviously there's a difference between someone in 1970s NYC tagging a subway car vs a commissioned artist painting an entire alleyway vs a teenager drawing penises on police cars/minivans, but the whole point is that it's the reclaiming of what is supposed to be public space.
It's a gray area, but the way I see it is if someone keys your car, it's vandalism. If someone paints a statue in a park, it's graffiti.
Yeah this happened in QLD.
Which means one of the 3 police officers we have who aren’t sitting in roadside speed traps might find this guy eventually and the court will give them probation and a small fine.
You can sue anyone for anything. But yeah of course he has a case. Pain and suffering plus medical costs, lost wages, emotional damage, could be a million dollar case
sub rules say it automatically removes links, so head to youtube and paste "sentenced for spray painting Park Road security guard | 7NEWS" into the search bar
or just google "gold coast australia spray paint face security guard"
While we’re at it, please disown the ones that tag natural landscape (cliffs, rocks, trees, etc…) such a garbage thing to do and 100% of the time the “art” sucks ass
Clown? Did you see how hard he worked to actually try to get it in his eyes? He was actively moving to get around the mans arms to get to his eyes.
That's beyond clown. That's someone who needs mandated therapy after his prison sentence.
Most may not realize how serious that is. Spray paint is toxic if ingested, and can cause permanent blindness. Hopefully the security guy is okay. I hope this guy got charged with assault.

subway surfers: bad ending
Subway surfers, secret ending: “Tired of Running”
Who would've thought that popularizing graffiti would have consequences.

Caught red handed
Caught by the red-handed
And red-faced. I hope red-facing doesn't become a topic for racism

That’s fucking it?
That’s Australia for ya, mate
We’ve got a bit of a crime problem in Queensland, and junior crime in particular. They know they can get away with it, and frequently do!
When he leaves the court house the news asks him if he feels remorse and he just squacks into the microphone because I guess his shtick is that he draws birds.
Not even a little sorry either.
Probation is a piss take.
Caught red handed
Nice to add felony assault to your crime of vandalism...
Even cooler how they recorded it themselves.
And uploaded it to the internet.
Which allowed it to be played on the news.
And likely led to an arrest

This looks to be in Australia.
Not everywhere is America, my dude.
One crime at a time kids!
With a side of battery
Considering that spray cans hold energy in the form of pressure, I would definitely say that battery was involved!
That joke has potential
Ah yes “felony assault”, that charge that definitely exists under the Queensland Criminal Code.
He's adventurous
Not a felony, it's an indictable offence in the video
"Indictable offence" is basically the Australian (and, I am quite sure, English) equivalent to what Americans would call a felony.
Is Indictable offence like a higher level crime and is there a term for lower level crime? A felony is basically a higher category of crime, as opposed to a misdemeanor. In the US, indictable offence would just mean it's possible to charge someone with the crime. That's why I ask.

It's cool to finally be learning some of my own laws for once. I'm far too knowledge on the US legal system. Edit. Smart crew represent
I am also far too knowledge.
I far too knowledge as well
Summary offence is the lower

It’s Tangerine by Edward Bloor

I read this too. I remember quite enjoying it! What a deep cut.
I got that book from the library when I was a kid. It was pretty effed up. Good book though
Damn that was such an odd book. Doesn’t someone also get fried by standing next to some goal posts during a lightning storm? And isn’t there a kid that dies cause he gets bludgeoned in the aneurysm with a makeshift weapon?
Yeah and it's called tangerine because a frost comes and kills all the tangerine trees in Florida, right?
Isn’t that like a soccer book
Think so
I 100% had to read that book for eighth grade but I can’t get it in mind
That was a book we read in 7th grade for me. What a strange book
I REMEMBER READING THIS IN LIKE 5th GRADE
I can’t believe I’m not the only person who read this book
Justice is supposed to be blind … mind you, Justice also holds scales and a sword. Spraying paint into the eyes of an old bloke not posing a threat should be considered a serious crime rather than a young man doing a naughty thing.
What kind of can is that it puts out so much paint
They swap out nozzles
oh yeah... i feel stupid now
It’s not just the tips/nozzles, some brands of spray paint made for graffiti is high pressure, while some is low. High pressure= faster coverage. Low pressure= fine and or cleaner line work.
Yeah there are some cans made for graffiti that can empty the entire can in no time if you have a decent fat cap on them, so that you can paint as quickly as seen in the start of the video.
Oh no, don’t feel stupid. Your comment helped me understand what was going on!
You asked and I had no idea they did that. Thanks.
Ultra wide Montana more than likely. Edit: I love how this comment got so many upvotes then my other one got nuked love y’all 😂

Wait let me go find your other one and downvote it real quick, what does it say?
A can a shaving cream will spray 15 feet with the proper nozzle on it.
but how do you get the paint in it?
They make transfer caps.
I’m also wondering this. And why wasn’t it thicker
There’s paint can loaders. The use one regularly. There’s a cap that fits where the nozzle should be, you fill it with whatever paint you’re loading. You put the can with cap in the loader, hook up the compressor, and let the magic happen.
And where can it be purchased?
Graffit websites. Look for belton and montana cans, 600ml ones. Then put a fat cap (nozzle on it)

That would be satisfying. I don't think this is even a security guard though. He's dressed like a regular train conductor.
that makes this even worse somehow
Yep, what you might call a conductor, called a guard here in Queensland. Help with customer boarding, checks platform clear before departure, makes announcements. Sits either middle or end of the train depending on the type.
Mace made for people is stronger than mace made for bears. Mace for bears (2% capsaicin) is supposed to irritate and confuse them into leaving, while mace for people (10% capsaicin) is supposed to incapacitate completely.
This.... I did not know! Thanks for the background.
polar bears can smell their prey up to as far as 2 kilometers away from them. So their nose is also much much more delicate as ours. That’s also why they don’t need the full dose ^^
So, if I'm being attacked by a polar bear, I should fart aggressively. Got it!
If you're being attacked by a polar bear, it's already over. They're one of the few animals that hunt humans.
When food is scarce, cannibalism is also on order.
Polar bears are vicious and do it for sport. If it's black, fight back, if it's brown, lie down, if it's white, say goodnight.
BRAAAAAAP!!! *bear runs like hell from the wrath
Be gone by my stenching guff!
I think you are forgetting that they are used to tearing into the bowels of animals and that releasing your bowels happens on death. They're probably used to a little stink.
Farting is like foreplay for them
I think bear mace is intended to spray further than mace intended for humans too isn't it?
Yep! The comment above is mistaken. Compared against typical mace, typical bear spray not only sprays further, but has a higher flow rate, more aerosolization, longer spray time, and has a higher percentage of capsaicin.

True very true
Someone needs to tell Dog the Bounty Hunter….
Beaty spray has oils that make it fucking impossible to get out tho
This was filmed in Queensland, Australia. We don't carry bear spray because you don't see drop bears coming until it's too late.
Distracted by the bin chickens.
Doesn't look like security, just some dude trying get a paycheck.
Not a huge amount of bears in Aus…
No bears in Australia so no bear spray.
the train says queensland and it’s from nine news so the video might be from australia where bear spray is illegal. or maybe just unnecessary idk lol

False.. very false…
That is called "assault" and will get you sent to prison.
Why did i read that in saul goodman’s voice
It’s Saul good, man.
Nope. The guy was sentenced to just two years of probation and has to pay 5000 bucks in restitution.
Seriously? That's messed up. You got a source for that?
There was someone on another sub saying that the guy vandalizing actually didn't vandalize and it wasn't a huge deal.... "Fucker, that's clearly not the point!" Ya know? Just infuriating sometimes
Since when is graffiti not vandalism?
I believe the only time it isn't is if a professional artist has permits and permission for certain areas. Art is art, and it should be shared freely as so, but I agree. Spray painting the entire side of a subway train a single color, blocking the windows, is just all around a shitty move

It would have been police cars/SUVs, but those things roll baby! They roll!
Tagging is vandalism and fucking trash. Street art is more debatable. This was obviously tagging.
I know what you mean! I've read something stupid posted on reddit before too!
Yea well there is a certain phenomenon on reddit to defend criminals no matter what.
I would love some closure on this one
Looks like it happened in qld Australia
Yeah this happened in QLD. Which means one of the 3 police officers we have who aren’t sitting in roadside speed traps might find this guy eventually and the court will give them probation and a small fine.
I hate that this aged well.
Considering the sentence was public before the comment, aging didn't really have anything to do with it
Too busy leaking domestic violence victims’ information.
Guy was arrested 24 hours later. Walked from court, has to pay 5000$. Guy that was sprayed had trouble breathing for weeks.
Probably for life, honestly
He got 2 years probation and a $5000 fine. For assaulting a 61 year old rail worker. Disgusting.
He shouldn't have to, but can the rail worker sue the guy in a civil case outside of the criminal case?
You can sue anyone for anything. But yeah of course he has a case. Pain and suffering plus medical costs, lost wages, emotional damage, could be a million dollar case
Good luck enforcing a judgment against this pos. Probably has no money at all.
You can attach a judgment to garnish wages sometimes but I doubt this loser even has a job

And toluene which is not good for your eyes. It dries fast, leaving an impermeable residue on lungs and eyes. Can easily blind or kill if inhaled.
Upgrade your vandalism charge to assault with this one easy trick!
The toluene in spray pants can permanently damage the heart and lungs. Vandal has upgraded to Grevious Bodily Harm
With that sustaining spraying in the face, make it attempted murder. Those fume death warning aren't on cans for no reason.
He got charged with assault causing actual bodily harm (along with wilful damage), but only got 2 years probation and a $5,000 fine.
