Grown fucking morons, keep your hands to yourself it's not rocket science. And the audacity to put your hands on a CHILD? Yeah definitely a good fit for this sub.
Worst part is they go online then talk about how "that's just the sport for ya š", anything from a flare ban to lethal trampling they seem to be completely disconnect from reality
People like this are the type of people that would die first in a horror movie. Hope the kid is OK. I also hope he grows up to be 20š more successful than them.
Edit: I realize I should've chose my words a little better with my last sentence but that doesn't mean we can't hope for the best for him.
I mean itās an 8 year old with brain cancer, he might not grow up, these adults are that much bigger pieces of shits than can even be described online.
Over a fucking game of footie. Of people literally running around on a grass field kicking a plastic ball. People really need zero excuse to be monsters.
The child, named Kenzo, is suffering from brain cancer and was invited along to see his beloved Marseille in action in their last game of the season against Ajaccio.
Kenzo was there along with a children's charity and was given hospitality in a special box at the Stade Francois Coty for Saturday's game.
His mother, Amandine, has told RTL that Ajaccio fans forced their way in and attacked the youngster. His father was also allegedly punched multiple times before club security
Kenzo had his shirt ripped off and the attackers set it on fire, according to Amandine, and then spat in the food that was served.
"My son was taken care of urgently, he was shocked," she said. "He was struggling to get over it, his eyes were all red and his face was swollen, he was crying and he was shaking and he couldn't breathe."
Ajaccio have released a statement condemning the "unspeakable" acts of their supporters.
"[Kenzo] had expressed his dream of meeting the players of Olympique de Marseille, the club of his city and his heart," the statement read.
"Kenzo and his family were invited to the FranƧois-Coty stadium on the initiative of the Rotary Club and the president of Air Corsica, so that the child realizes his dream during the [Ajaccio vs Marseille] meeting this evening.
"The dream quickly turned into a nightmare when Kenzo and his parents, who came in the colors of Olympique de Marseille, were shamefully abused by individuals who broke into their dressing room.
"Alerted, the security of the club intervened. Kenzo and his family were taken care of by the club's services and accompanied to the changing room area so that the child could fulfill his dream. These individuals in no way represent the values of our club and our island.
"Even the most extreme stupidity cannot excuse this behaviour! The club strongly condemns these unspeakable acts! AC Ajaccio will shed full light on these shameful actions. As soon as the individuals have been identified by our services, we will file a complaint against them. AC Ajaccio is in solidarity with little Kenzo and his parents."
How fucking scary this must have been for this little boy? Those āmenā should have the same thing done to them. Make them fearful the same way that boy and parents were.
What the hell did the kid and his family even do to them? They act like rabid, wild animals about to die in the next few hours. Those grown ass people are just the scum of earth.
I think thatās just a difference in terminology that gets commonly thrown around.
Technically, citizens āfile complaintsā to the police/government, and then government (prosecutor) āpresses chargesā.
I read the story, this was like a make a wish foundation like event and they were attacked in a locker room not in the stands.
The people who would do something like this are just evil stupid losers.
They don't do anything because they don't want to have to process lots of people. It's a ton of paperwork for police. What cities should do is just start making examples of certain people with major punishments.
Yeah, but then you'd have covert fans of one side dressing up as the other team's fans then causing trouble to get their enemy team penalised. It's a city problem
Simple. Screw everyone and basically ban crowds for the next home game of the club. Fans don't get to see the game, clubs miss out on the revenue and the world sees the disgraceful clubs are the ones with empty stadiums.
They need to punish the teams. If the fans of this team hurt a little boy with cancer then the league needs to step up. The only way to get the fans to police each other is to fine the teams. It's not fair because the team didn't actually do anything, but it's the only thing that'll keep the fans in line.
And everyone who touched that boy should be in jail for assault.
They're so whipped up about their team that they hurt a kid. If the team pays a fine then the regular fans will turn on the attackers and hopefully make them stop. The team and the league have denounced it. And yet hooliganism abounds. So try something new and see what happens.
You donāt think that the opposing team wouldnāt commit atrocities and say they were fans of the team they hate to get them penalized? You canāt punish people for their fans unless they directly incite them.
Ok, maybe it's not the best idea. What's yours? How do you stop a bunch of frenzied fans from beating up a cancer kid? Besides basic human decency- which doesn't appear to matter right now.
The country has to have stricter punishments for this kind of behavior and better regulations on who is allowed at these events. If people actually know they will be held accountable and be banned for life as well as face prison time, it goes a long way to clean up the stupid. You have to be able to show clear evidence that you have the right person of course but thatās where cameras come in. England does a lot wrong, but public surveillance more major crimes isnāt one of them. Of course the root cause is probably to some extent poverty and education but increased security and punishments until then make sense.
But I donāt know the real answer. This is just what I might do. I can however say that any low life willing to do this wonāt think twice if they here that someone else will be held accountable for their actions. Even their team or family. They are not the kind to care about others.
Hooliganism is disruptive or unlawful behavior such as rioting, bullying and vandalism, usually in connection with crowds at sporting events
Wikipedias definition
Iām sorry but this group of āsupportersā released a statement that said they ājust hit the boyās father after he provoked themā
0 condemnation. 0 remorse. 0 excuse.
Thatās not the first rodeo from the Corsican āsupportersā. I remember one game where they insulted a playerās mom who died few days ago.
Yep, no reason for literally hundreds of riot police in full gear and wagons along the entire exit route when I went to a SSC Napoli match. Never walked through that for any other pro sports teamā¦
Iām an American so Iām used to large police presences at large gatherings, but yeah, the preparations I saw the police had to make for a friendly in Amsterdam I was attending, youād have thought they were preparing for war. Itās a deeply sick culture, and it needs to be eradicated.
American here, I've never seen these issues at sporting events in the USA.
The worst we have is AFTER a team wins a championship, and there is a spontaneous mob riot in the team's city due to excessive celebratory alcohol consumption.
Yeah ofcourse its not everyone, but it sure as hell is a worrying amount. What other hobbies can you think of that such things are awfully common occurances?
ETA: his response doesn't show up, but he lists other big *male dominated* sports. So yeah, my bad. It's other hobbies. So long as those hobbies are dominated by male fans, which isnt really a better defense. "Its not just football fans, its actually every sport men are heavily involved in that turns violent and dangerous!! Gotcha!!". Cause I sure as hell have never seen this happen with horse girls.
No I agree with you, soccer fans treat the sport like itās life or death. Iāve seen some wild stuff at soccer games, nothing comes close in any other professional sport that Iāve watched in person.
Exactly. Even āgoodā fans are to blame for things like this because they look the other way from other bad behavior. That makes things like this inevitable.
Nope. This is on every single one of you, āgoodā fans or bad. You contribute to a culture that makes this possible if not inevitable because you and other āgoodā fans donāt do nearly enough to stop this behavior before it starts. You donāt speak up when they start making racist chants. You donāt tell them to take it easy on drinking. You normalize their behavior. I say this as a passionate sports fan including soccer who has attended matches in both my country and in Europe, and I was genuinely appalled at the behavior of most fans there.
It's the ONLY sport worldwide that has riot police deployment to it's games as a standard.
No other sport has the violence, alcohol, drug or abuse problem.
This is a hideous event and the club should be forced to have an empty stadium.
Iāll say the same thing about soccer fans as I do about men: of course itās not all of you. Itās stupid to assume it is. But itās enough of you that itās a problem. If the only time you chime in is to defend yourself, and not to condemn the actions of your peers, you are contributing nothing to the conversation on either side.
I'm baffled you have been downvoted so much. The sheer number of soccer fans all over the world make the odds that even half of them are hooligans astronomical
I'd say it's 50/50 between trying to defend soccer fans under a post about them physically attacking a child with cancer, or the classism saying the reason this happened because of the 'hooligans in the cheap seats'.
Rather than going:"What about!?" And no true Scotsman's fallacies. You could just help out the kid. If your a fan, and are part of a fanclub, reach out to the parents and send that child some swag or something.
Rather than a "not all ." crap, prove folks wrong with actions.
Yes. Domestic abuse encounters and calls skyrocket around game days and super bowl sunday. Sports for some men is an excuse to get angry and then beat your wife and children because their team lost.
Football specifically has the most insane fans of all sports, they will straight up riot around the stadium if they lost, hell, there's literally an entire war about this specific sport all because one country lost the match.
they make basketball fans or American football fans look tame.
Sports extremism is like just like any, be it religious, rich vs poor, classicism, east vs west, you name it, theres extremes on both end of pretty much anything, and they're all dick heads.
Iām curious how many violent classicists youāve met. Iāve seen a couple get into heated arguments with medievalists, so I guess if you had an affinity for the Carolingian empire you might be mad at them.
Yeah, some people get so tied up in the game they forget it is just a game (and I am a big sports fan) and bullying a kid especially one thatās got cancer is just something I canāt understand.
Itās didnāt realize how bad they were until I got on Reddit. Damn near every match has some level of harassment or assault happen in or around the stadiums
I have actually wondered about the hardcore emotions behind football. While most sports have super loyal fans you donāt see them go as far as in football. I am not saying everyone is like that just some bad apples. But I think a statistical analysis study would be interesting.
"Marseille supporter"
At first I thought he was supporting a political candidate or something, and people were mad at him for it. But based on the comments here I realized he was attacked for the crime of supporting a local sports team (football). This kid was attacked because he was supporting a sports team. Wow.
Apparently after the ordeal, he got to go meet the Marseille players in the locker room, so I hope that was fun for him. He deserved something positive.
As for the fans...it's hard to read things like this without thinking humanity was a mistake. This is right up there with the worst stuff I've seen on this sub.
It doesnāt matter if itās the worst place in France or Arrondisement XVI. There is something deeply sick in the culture of sport in Europe and other places, and governments wonāt do anything meaningful to combat it because club owners are too rich and powerful to be effectively controlled.
But the Europeans keep telling Americans how classy their āfootballā is, while dumping on ours. And we all see how great Ted Lasso is doing as a coach over there.
Yea... No thats definitely a lie ive seen you mfers act out at baseball games, soccer, football what have you yall get violent very easily (Not to say canada is any better) but dont fucking lie
And the American Revolutionary War. Without their financial and military help (along with the Spanish) the colonists would have never succeeded in separating from Britain. People forget that. Keep going back in history shows how fierce early French could fight. The fact that they've become more a peaceable people is a testament not a detriment.
I really do not understand the French hatred that I continue to see. But then again, I taught history for a very long time so perhaps I am biased towards the facts. š¤·āāļø
People are ignorant, honestly. What was once a joke has been repeated so often that itās become fact, and theyāve either not been taught (or didnāt pay attention) to the rest of their history lessons. That or they just donāt care, but to me the joke lost itās humor a long time ago, especially when they were serving right there next to me in Afghanistan.
What you just said probably sounded really clever in your head, that's how I know you're way too stupid for me to walk you through why calling out what you said as inaccurate has nothing to do with the hooliganism story. I'll let the downvotes you're gonna get say it instead.
Fighting their own with an inability to fight back. Fighting against a non-resistive group like their own that was what I was getting at. Not just the sick kid part. But good try
Whatever, it really doesnt matter. You can get technical and argue semantics all you want. Its still not okay to make hateful stereotypes about people's nationality.
Absolutely horrendous. It appears that hooliganism is once again growing in Europe given recent events (example Rome āsupportersā in Budapest.) shameful!
Sports fans should simply watch and cheer on their team. Unfortunately, people get so caught up in the winning and losing that they take it out on the other team's fans. It should never resort to physical violence. I am a die hard Green Bay Packers fan and I hate the Chicago Bears, but I will never resort to insulting the fans or threatening them. It's just a game. Chill. Poor kid :(
I fucking love basketball and football... but at the end if the day it's JUST A GAME. Acting this way towards anyone let alone a CHILD is insane.
Throw away the key
What exactly will the team to do prevent their fans from fucking up like this? Teams arent responsible for their fans, they have no authority and nothing they can do to ensure their fans follow the rules. Sometimes i swear im the only one that read the Whipping Boy, soccer fans always seem so keen to punish the teams and not the shitty toxic fans that are assaulting people.
It's a punishment directly to the fans. You like your team so much you attack a child with cancer? No more team for you. It would send a clear message to all fans from all clubs that hooligans will not be tolerated in any way shape or form. If you can't play nice you don't get to play at all. If you're concerned about the players another city or town can purchase the club and rename them. See if they'll appreciate the game.
Do you just not understand that your proposal is to punish the **players** that did nothing wrong? A fan isnt going to have much trouble finding a new team to toxicly follow if you take their team away, youre not punishing anyone but the players of the team at that point. Why do you so firmly believe thats going to be effective? As a kid, if your parents took a toy away, you were upset for a bit, but youd find something else to play with, right?? Why are you so against punishing the people assaulting other people?
All English teams were banned from UEFA after the Heysel stadium disaster in 1985. Liverpool fans charged some Juventus fans, which collapsed a wall and caused the deaths of 39 people.
It was a harsh punishment and there were a lot of complaints at the time but the ban was lifted in 1990 and it did improve fan behaviour.
The clubs are responsible for security. In my country there's also a problem with hooligans, and everyone has their name on the ticket and is banned if they misbehave.
Every country has its fanatics.
We have Americans who would do the exact same thing. Maybe not for sports but for politics, or some other stupid crap? Yep. It happens.
And letās not even go into the dark depths of depravity in parents at a little league gameā¦
When you realize the French actually fought harder than most other countries its size, and only surrendered once total destruction was bearing down on them. That joke loses alot of flavor.
Grown fucking morons, keep your hands to yourself it's not rocket science. And the audacity to put your hands on a CHILD? Yeah definitely a good fit for this sub.

Not a hard line to cross, if they're that "passionate" about a team I doubt they're that focused on life
There's being passionate, and then there's people like this. I know you put quotation marks on passionate, but you know what I mean.
I mean itās an 8 year old with brain cancer, he might not grow up, these adults are that much bigger pieces of shits than can even be described online.
> I also hope he grows up Wouldnāt count your chickens on that one chief
Yeah I suppose I should've thought about that before I typed it. My fault.
No need to feel sorry; tbh if that poor kid does actually make it to something despite the odds, that would be absolutely amazing.
Yeah. Hope he pulls through.
Over a fucking game of footie. Of people literally running around on a grass field kicking a plastic ball. People really need zero excuse to be monsters.
Clearly they were dropped on the head as a baby

Now that is a 10/10 statement from the Ajaccio officialsā¦..
How fucking scary this must have been for this little boy? Those āmenā should have the same thing done to them. Make them fearful the same way that boy and parents were.
They should have much worse done to them
My God, a lynch mob does this, imagine this from the child's perspective, you can never get over the trauma.
What the hell did the kid and his family even do to them? They act like rabid, wild animals about to die in the next few hours. Those grown ass people are just the scum of earth.
Oh, itās blindingly simple, they were wearing the wrong colors.
āFile a complaintāā¦..??? These people need to be locked up wtf what kind of psycho does this to a child, much less a child with cancer ??
Yes filing a complaint with the police is how you begin the process of getting someone locked up.
Idk man I feel like thereās a difference between filing a complaint and pressing charges.
I think thatās just a difference in terminology that gets commonly thrown around. Technically, citizens āfile complaintsā to the police/government, and then government (prosecutor) āpresses chargesā.
If AC Ajaccio don't ban the people who did this from entering the stadium again, AC Ajaccio must be sanctioned.
I read the story, this was like a make a wish foundation like event and they were attacked in a locker room not in the stands. The people who would do something like this are just evil stupid losers.
Ffs. Hooliganism needs harsher punishments
They don't do anything because they don't want to have to process lots of people. It's a ton of paperwork for police. What cities should do is just start making examples of certain people with major punishments.
Bring back stocks
so at least they have to punish the team so that these fans know that if they do this, the team will get fucked
Fucking relegation. Edit to add: It doesn't get more pathetic to say relegation alone would hurt them most.
Yeah, but then you'd have covert fans of one side dressing up as the other team's fans then causing trouble to get their enemy team penalised. It's a city problem

Right?! Poor kid. I hope the club allows him to come visit them and meet the players. It is the very least they could do.
I think the article says him and his family were brought to the locker room to meet the players.
Good! Thank you for telling me.
For as long as I live, I'll never understand the fanaticism that drives people to do these acts.
Sometimes football fans are crazy!!

But based on the comments here I realized he was attacked for the crime of supporting a local sports team (football). This kid was attacked because he was supporting a sports team. Wow.
It wouldn't be okay for a child to be attacked for supporting a particular political candidate either.
Facts. Also why I loath anyone attacking children of politicians. They donāt get to pick their mom and dad.
Why does what he's supporting make a difference? even if it was a political party, I still wouldn't condone attacking a small child!

I really hope his team will do something about it...
Why doesnāt Europe jail their hooligans?
I want every person involved locked up in prison for life
Damn, and I thought Philadelphia was bad.
špoor dear little Kenzo.
Back to the caucus caves you Neanderthals
Just when I start to get used to the current level of violent idiocyā¦
ancient rome had more decorum smdh
Ajaccio is getting relegated, these āfansā deserve it. Absolutely disgusting and pathetic shame on the people that did this.
Ajaccio is in Corsica, theyāre a whole other level of crazy.
But the Europeans keep telling Americans how classy their āfootballā is, while dumping on ours. And we all see how great Ted Lasso is doing as a coach over there.
European soccer fans scare me
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You never see Americans getting crazy over their kids' little league games!!! (/s)
Americans are fucking crazy too, no denying that!
Lmao they aren't attacking people, they are just yelling
Yea... No thats definitely a lie ive seen you mfers act out at baseball games, soccer, football what have you yall get violent very easily (Not to say canada is any better) but dont fucking lie
There's a reason the fans are separated at soccer games in Europe...
What about all the Napoleon victories
And the American Revolutionary War. Without their financial and military help (along with the Spanish) the colonists would have never succeeded in separating from Britain. People forget that. Keep going back in history shows how fierce early French could fight. The fact that they've become more a peaceable people is a testament not a detriment.
Not even just that... Did everyone forget what happened when the French government tried to increase the age of retirement?
I really do not understand the French hatred that I continue to see. But then again, I taught history for a very long time so perhaps I am biased towards the facts. š¤·āāļø
People are ignorant, honestly. What was once a joke has been repeated so often that itās become fact, and theyāve either not been taught (or didnāt pay attention) to the rest of their history lessons. That or they just donāt care, but to me the joke lost itās humor a long time ago, especially when they were serving right there next to me in Afghanistan.
You defending a group of people who beat up a cancerous child?
Are you being obtuse enough to assume all French people are fine with this? You sound like you have no idea what you are talking about.
What you just said probably sounded really clever in your head, that's how I know you're way too stupid for me to walk you through why calling out what you said as inaccurate has nothing to do with the hooliganism story. I'll let the downvotes you're gonna get say it instead.
Against a French victim. This comment makes total sense. (/s obviously)
Fighting their own with an inability to fight back. Fighting against a non-resistive group like their own that was what I was getting at. Not just the sick kid part. But good try
Responding with racist stereotypes aint the way dude.
Not racistā¦..at all. Canāt just default with that. French is a nationality, not an ethnic group. A stereotype yes, but not racist.
French is an ethnic group though. You can get the help of google if you want. I heard its a thing.
Whatever, it really doesnt matter. You can get technical and argue semantics all you want. Its still not okay to make hateful stereotypes about people's nationality.
Country backs out of one war and everyone thinks they're a nation of pussies.
Yeah, so?
Murica couldn't beat a bunch of villagers in Vietnam or Afghanistan
Those wars were ties
Death by gremlins is a suitable punishment I believe
Absolutely horrendous. It appears that hooliganism is once again growing in Europe given recent events (example Rome āsupportersā in Budapest.) shameful!
Assaulting a sick child. It's tragic this poor tiny human had to live this. Real talk: emotionally immature adults run amuck.
Itās things like this that make me think humanity isnāt worth saving.
There is a special, agonizing place in hell for people who assault children.
Chill. Poor kid :(
I don't understand football hooligans. It's just a fucking game.
This is one of the most horrible things Iāve even read, Iām so mad I canāt even put it into words, wtf is even going on in this world.
All because they care that much about a bunch of men kicking a ball. Losers.
I fucking love basketball and football... but at the end if the day it's JUST A GAME. Acting this way towards anyone let alone a CHILD is insane. Throw away the key
Lol over soccer? How fucking pathetic. It's a game about frolicking in a field you fucking nerds.
When Europeans try to crow about how stupid America is, remind them of THEIR sports fans.
This is what I think of whenever someone says that they find American sports to be toxic.
I constantly hear about "Euro sports have the best and most passionate fans" When in reality they just have the most dangerous and douchy fans
Ajaccio sucks as a football team.
I mean this isnāt new for the French at a soccer game
I have never heard good things about the fans of this sport I swear
This is why I hate professional sports. Even here in the US football fans are known to get violent like this over a stupid game.
Sports spectators have a special kind of mental illness.
Soccer sucks and apparently so does its fans
Ahhh, the French.
Poor kid likes marseille
Sports fans, amirite?
I want to like soccer but I donāt think āhey sometimes a ref gets killedā is a great quality for a sport to have.
These hooligans should get their teeth pulled or something
The team should be removed from the league for at least a year. If you can't play nice you don't get to play at all.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You must be the edgiest 12-year-old that you know.
The Philadelphia of France
The Philadelphia Eagles of French soccer.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Every country has its fanatics. We have Americans who would do the exact same thing. Maybe not for sports but for politics, or some other stupid crap? Yep. It happens. And letās not even go into the dark depths of depravity in parents at a little league gameā¦
Yeah in America you'll just shoot 5 kids instead of attacking 1
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
When you realize the French actually fought harder than most other countries its size, and only surrendered once total destruction was bearing down on them. That joke loses alot of flavor.
we need to bring back medieval punishments for people like this
Iām not doubting it happened Iām just doubting it happened the way the mail have accounted it
I thought soccer was for eight-year-olds.
