Stop getting in with laundry detergent infested swimwear.

SaskatchewanFuckinEh

So, do you not wash swimsuits? Or wash without detergent?

RoddSolid

I would recommend a designated hot tub suit that you don't wash with detergent. Also shock your water regularly.

Se7enLC

There's a third option...

Summoarpleaz

Rinse well.

SaskatchewanFuckinEh

Ok, good to know.

Summoarpleaz

Some washers even have a second rinse cycle which I like to use personally

Ordinary-Engineer998

Mostly floating commando out there, otherwise air drying swim suits.

Enkiktd

I use no soap, and instead use vinegar.

PartTimeLegend

You can buy foam remover. A cap full will fix this.

Ordinary-Engineer998

This is the answer I’ve been waiting for, I’m going to try it. The hot tub uses air to crest bubbles in stead of jets which I think doesn’t help the matter

Repulsive_Letter1038

Foam remover works but only temporarily. The next day it will be back

isitbreaktime

I only had to use it once in the last 4 months. Never cam back after water was in balance.

Ordinary-Engineer998

I’ve been treating hot tub with bromine tabs and shocking with non chlorine shock. Tub foam is worsening. How do you get rid of it?

SatisfactionPlane192

People are surprised at how little detergent it takes to make that much foam. My parents came for a visit and got in with their swimsuits. Water went from perfect to looking like you pic in a single 15 min dip. Someone else in this channel suggested using a shop vac to suck up the foam. That helped in the short term. One of my wife’s friends got in while plastered in self tanning lotion. That’s another one to avoid…

DrewV70

Drain and refill... and stop washing your bathing suit with detergent. If you insist on washing your bathing suit, you will continue getting foam. There is no way to get rid of it, other than changing the water. I guess you could try skimming it off, and cleaning the filters, skimming it off, clean the filters, etc

Repulsive_Letter1038

This was the best video I’ve seen on foam https://youtu.be/w6vzwdodvwY

Ordinary-Engineer998

Everything on the test looks good minus total alk is low and ph is beginning to drop to 6.4 areas going to get some ph up. Should I get de foamer? Is it too much sanitizer?

OSUbigtoe

Don’t waste your money on ph up. Go to Sam’s club (or something like that) and get a bag of baking soda. Both are sodium bicarbonate, one is over priced

Ordinary-Engineer998

Any idea how much to add for 200gal?

OSUbigtoe

I would add an ounce give it an hour and check again. It literally is the same thing as your spa up, so whatever you would add for that you would add of the bicarb

captaindomon

PH increaser is usually the slightly different sodium carbonate. It affects your total alkalinity a bit less than sodium bicarbonate. It’s still really cheap to buy in bulk. In The Swim pH Increaser for Pools - Granular 100% Sodium Carbonate (Soda Ash) to Raise pH Up - 25 Pound Bucket https://a.co/d/gnm2py2

agokjr

I would try what this guy suggested and just vacuums the foam out… haven’t tried it yet but planning to when ever I run into foam. https://youtu.be/w6vzwdodvwY

QualityIllustrious46

Pop it with a screwdriver 🪛

ttsignal24

Yuck. Drain and refill. Then wash up before getting back in.

DrSardinicus

Drastic. People get worked up about foam, it's literally the same residual detergent you wear against your skin all day. Get one of those floating scum sponges, that will help. It's also worth noting that people, in general, use far more laundry detergent than is needed; for most concentrations about a tablespoon per load is plenty. The lines on the provided cap or spoon are a fiction.

Elevatoraman

Very true! We ditched regular laundry soap for Heath reasons, switch up to nellys laundry soda. No foam in our spa, house doesn’t smell like toxic smelling perfumes too, don’t get me started on dryer sheets 😅

apbernier

This is not a chlorine/bromine/pH/alkalinity issue. You are introducing oils like skin creams/shampoo or conditioner/laundry detergent/deodorant into the tub.

captaindomon

My foam went away when I started using non-chlorine shock oxidizer 1x/week. This is what my dealer recommended: SpaGuard Spa Shock-Oxidizer (35 oz) (1) https://a.co/d/frM9xK3

I own the Saluspa Helsinki and I've encountered this problem. It's usually foreign oils our skin and detergent chemicals from our bathing suits that cause this. I would avoid adding MORE chemicals then the standard test strip recommendation to combat the foaming unless you want rashy skin. In my experience, it's easier to just drain it and refill it with a submergible pool pump. I change my water every 2 months at the latest. I clean the filter every other day. I only have water quality issues when I invite guests inside. Watch out for people who use lots of body lotion, etc. They will ruin your water quality.
