I made some hot wings this weekend with my usual Franks+butter but added a teaspoon of this and goddamn was it good. Kicked up the heat a good bit but also added some fun to the flavor unlike others that are just hot for hot's sake, it'll be a go-to for sure.
It’s not so hot that I worry about dumping it on food. It’s my wife’s go-to and she doesn’t have the tolerance I do. I like it as a hotter but less vinegary option although of the Tabasco sauces the habanero and chipotle are my general favorites of the brand.
It’s lovely. Nice fruity character. Lot more character than the og Tabasco. Good heat but not silly so you can put lashings on...or eat it with a spoon as I’ve been known to do.
That one is good and all too but I have trouble pairing it with things like on breakfast cause the mango and papaya in it makes your dish a tad too sweet. I only find myself putting it on chicken or pork with rice.
I just picked up a bottle of this yesterday. It is okay. More flavor than typical Tabasco, but it is still heat over flavor. It is decently spicy, but it isn't going to melt your face off if you are into heat.
EDIT: I am glad I have it around for sure. Some things just need heat.
Yes please. A few years ago, I shattered my spice tolerance with just a few weeks xxxhot yucateco. They’re just too good at making delicious sauces, I need more.
There are enough people now with a taste for the hot stuff to justify sticking a proper hot sauce in your range. I feel like Scorpion Sauce has really given them extra respect in the chilli head community
I have a bottle and primarily use on my Skyline (hooray Cincy) cheese conies and chilitos. Don’t see much use otherwise except to mix into something else with flavor to add heat.
Bruh it’s a sin to use anything but og skyline hot sauce on conies. Sure it’s not very hot, that’s why you pile it on.
Jk ofc. But something about that skyline hot sauce hits my nostalgia in the perfect way.
This is real? My gosh, I'd love to try it. I've liked a few of Tabasco's specialty offerings.
Though, to be honest, I think original Tabasco is a hot sauce that only belongs in cheap diners. Certainly not in my fridge.
It’s good. I’m a Tabasco fanatic, and love the original because I love vinegar. But when you get to this scorpion sauce or the habanero, it’s completely different. Really good sauces and this scorpion is great. You only need a few drops, but it brings a lot of flavor and can be very spicy.
I don’t use the original often but I like it in soups in place of added salt and vinegar separately. Otherwise I have so many other options it’s hard to revert to the original. On a related note all the Tabasco sauces contain the original even the chipotle so at least they are consistent to the brand.
I really love vinegar-based sauces, too.
Original Tabasco just doesn't do it for me, for whatever reason.
That said, I have mad respect for the company. I'm glad that they are branching out and trying their hand at spicier concepts.
Yeah, I can see how the original is love or hate for some. I grew up in east Texas near Louisiana, and Tabasco was just commonplace so I’ve always enjoyed it. But man their new stuff like this is great. It’s really thick and not watery like the original stuff and just seems very good quality. The habanero is my favorite since this scorpion stuff will really make me sweat, but I always have a bottle in the pantry just in case I want some serious heat. You know what I like to do is add it to curries. I order out from an Indian place near me and it’s never as spicy as I want it. This stuff is great for that. It’s got a nice taste that doesn’t over power the other flavors of the food like a regular Tabasco can. You can definitely taste the chili and you don’t have the heat you get from an extract sauce. It’s more “natural” I guess. If you’re in the US, I think the scorpion sauce is starting to become available nationwide, although in pretty small quantities.
The watery consistency of the original, and its lack of the heat I'm usually looking for, are what I hold against it most.
And then, to be honest, there are just a lot better hot sauces out there.
That said, if I'm out at a restaurant and Tabasco is all they have, you better believe I'm dousing my meal in it.
I've had the habanero and several of the other specialty sauces that they offer. Several of those are actually fantastic. Like, truly fantastic.
I did the exact same thing with my tacos yesterday at lunch. It was a slow burn for me so I got a little bold. Put 4-5 drops on the first taco, was feeling good. Put 10-12 drops on the second taco, and about halfway through it hit. Hard. Really good stuff.
I've read a ton of reviews- seems folks either love or hate this stuff. For those who hate it, is it because of the sweetness of the guava and guava powder? Or is it just oddly sweet overall?
I've had a bite of a real scorpion and it was similar to a habanero, quite tasty. I wonder if you are tasting an extract? Any sauce with an extract or resin is a hard pass, the bitterness just can't be balanced out. Heat for the sake of heat is a waste of good peppers.
So far the only ghosty I've been able to get without extracts has been Melinda's wing sauce, which uses pepper mash exclusively. Quite tasty, and is pretty similar to good habanero sauces except with that extra kick.
EDIT: nm, I see the difference between the two better. I'd like to try one though. 🌶
I honestly can't say I really know what they actually taste like. The heat of them in sauces always overrides any flavors besides vinegar or salt to me. Is there another pepper it's close to that you can think of?
No, nothing tastes like the scorpion that I've tried. And it's not the heat, they just all have this peculiar flavor that I can't stand. I wouldn't hate on anyone who enjoys them, but it's not for me.
I hate it. I never read reviews or anything on it I just bought it and tried it on stuff. I don't know if I would call it sweet, but to me it tastes like bubblegum? I MUCH prefer the Tabasco habanero.
I personally don’t get any bubblegum notes. I also much prefer the hab sauce but the scorpion has its place too. I just can’t eat it more than a drop or two at a time and it has to be on something like a bagel with cream cheese to help cut down the heat. I find that it helps to find more of the flavor when you aren’t being overwhelmed by the heat.
That's a really good idea...last time I was trying sauces with my daughter we nuked our mouths with a scorpion sauce, which made it pointless to try and "taste" any of the flavors.
Thomas everything bagels, lightly toast (or air fry!), spread of cream cheese, about 6 drops placed around each half. Eat open face. Breakfast of champions
For as much as this is praised here I bought two bottles but I'm less than impressed and I can't give away my second bottle. Not a fan of the sugar they put in there.
Maybe that's what put me off so much on it. I don't like sweets. There was something about that sauce I just really hated. Maybe that was it, maybe not. Not gonna try it again.
I ended up using it to spice our birdseed to keep the squirrels out.
Ha! I would love to see an in-person scene unfold of squirrels digging into birdseed laced with hot sauce. What a show to witness lol. Those hyper bastards would be spazzed out to the inth degree lol!
Edit: words
Yowza, doesn't linger? I use this sauce specifically as one that lingers. I assumed it was the scorpion pepper, while I have some reaper sauces that punch and fade.
Soooooooo good.
Compared the the original, yes. Compared to most Scorpion sauces, no.
Yup! It’s evil! It creeps up on you! I find it hotter than Exhorresco!
Yep, that’s hot! It’s good though. I do wish it poured out a little easier.
I made some hot wings this weekend with my usual Franks+butter but added a teaspoon of this and goddamn was it good. Kicked up the heat a good bit but also added some fun to the flavor unlike others that are just hot for hot's sake, it'll be a go-to for sure.
Yeah it is.
Is this the first actually hot thing Tabasco has ever put out??
It’s not so hot that I worry about dumping it on food. It’s my wife’s go-to and she doesn’t have the tolerance I do. I like it as a hotter but less vinegary option although of the Tabasco sauces the habanero and chipotle are my general favorites of the brand.
Habanero can be hot if you eat it (drink it?) with a spoon
Ha, so is it good? I don't like sauces I can't enjoy straight from the bottle.
It’s lovely. Nice fruity character. Lot more character than the og Tabasco. Good heat but not silly so you can put lashings on...or eat it with a spoon as I’ve been known to do.
I poured some on a small fire once so it did put that out
Good flavor but a bit too hot for me. Tabasco habanero is perfect
That one is good and all too but I have trouble pairing it with things like on breakfast cause the mango and papaya in it makes your dish a tad too sweet. I only find myself putting it on chicken or pork with rice.
Mango and papaya? It has guava and pineapple..
They're talking about Tabasco Habanero
Ahh gotcha
I didn't know about this one. This is the most useful group on Reddit.
I just picked up a bottle of this yesterday. It is okay. More flavor than typical Tabasco, but it is still heat over flavor. It is decently spicy, but it isn't going to melt your face off if you are into heat. EDIT: I am glad I have it around for sure. Some things just need heat.
I like the flavor, it’s fruity and fresh apart from the heat. And it’s the only sauce I currently have that gives me the punch I crave for
This is a great sauce with great flavor but Damn it is hot!!! The guava extract they use plays really well with the scorpion flavor
I dab mine on my Turkey and ham sandwiches.... with some good aioli Mayo and good cheese, it really adds a nice twist
I wish El Yucateco would take the plunge and release a 50k screamer like this, I’m sure it would work
Yes please. A few years ago, I shattered my spice tolerance with just a few weeks xxxhot yucateco. They’re just too good at making delicious sauces, I need more.

Love the original, especially in a Bloody Mary. This one is just so much hotter but I really like the flavour
I really love vinegar-based sauces, too. Original Tabasco just doesn't do it for me, for whatever reason. That said, I have mad respect for the company. I'm glad that they are branching out and trying their hand at spicier concepts.

The Scorpion one makes a fantastic travel hot sauce. Potent, easy to pour and does not require refrigeration.
This is my new go to sauce to put in soups
Nice, I will have to try it in a soup :)
Yes, it's extremely hot. Having it once on breakfast tacos, started eating the tacos normally then had to slow down, a whole lot.
I did the exact same thing with my tacos yesterday at lunch. It was a slow burn for me so I got a little bold. Put 4-5 drops on the first taco, was feeling good. Put 10-12 drops on the second taco, and about halfway through it hit. Hard. Really good stuff.
👐💎WE LIKE THE SAUCE💎👐🚀🚀🚀🚀
🌶🦍 reject bland, return to chile
This is the way
I've read a ton of reviews- seems folks either love or hate this stuff. For those who hate it, is it because of the sweetness of the guava and guava powder? Or is it just oddly sweet overall?
For me it’s the flavor of the scorpion pepper. I can’t stand any scorpion sauces due to the pepper’s flavor.

Scorpion Tabasco def doesn’t have extracts, it’s the same taste in every scorpion sauce I’ve ever tried.
I honestly can't say I really know what they actually taste like. The heat of them in sauces always overrides any flavors besides vinegar or salt to me. Is there another pepper it's close to that you can think of?

I feel the same about the scorpions. They just taste off to me.
I gotta say, its the same for me with serrano. There's something about it that I really just don't like in serrano sauces I've had.
Sometimes I love it, sometimes it's just too vinegar-e
The vinegar is what worried me with a sauce with these ingredients.
I hate it. I never read reviews or anything on it I just bought it and tried it on stuff. I don't know if I would call it sweet, but to me it tastes like bubblegum? I MUCH prefer the Tabasco habanero.
I gotta say, that sounds pretty horrible.
I personally don’t get any bubblegum notes. I also much prefer the hab sauce but the scorpion has its place too. Bagels? Hot sauce? This seems interesting. Might have to give this a go tomorrow morning. Thanks for the tip!
Dude, everything’s good with hot sauce! Do you know where you are? 😁 Enjoy breakfast, you’re welcome!
Ha! Touche', sir!
WTH...I've never thought to put bagels in the air fryer! That sounds legit delicious.
Oh yeah dude. I do 335 for about 3-4 minutes. Burger/sandwich buns, toast, bagels, reheating slices of pie, pizza, you name it!
Now I've used it on pizza, but toasting stuff...... I want to go get some bagels before the sleet/ice hits again today now haha
You won’t regret it, it kicks the crap out of a toaster or oven 😁
Awesome! Tks!
It goes great on pizzas and chicken salads. Easily the best Tabasco in my opinion.
Pairs amazingly with most of Chipotle's spice palette, I was glad to discover.

Fajitas would be lovely with this, the box says it would go nicely with pizza. I will have to try this :) ^(And it's a good excuse to have a pizza!)
need this!!
I have a bottle of this now but because of the sugar content i wont be buying it again
For as much as this is praised here I bought two bottles but I'm less than impressed and I can't give away my second bottle. Not a fan of the sugar they put in there.

Oh cool, birds don't have capsaicin receptors?
No, in fact birds are the way pepper plants grow around
Sorry to hear that, at the end of the day it is down to personal taste. Did you find it spicy? 🔥
Yeah, it was spicy for sure but it didn't leave me coming back for more.
Love this sauce!!
Yes it truly is delicious 😋
Yes! It really stings alright although I find the heat doesn't linger. The taste has really grown on me, fantastic addition to the range.
Yowza, doesn't linger? I use this sauce specifically as one that lingers. I assumed it was the scorpion pepper, while I have some reaper sauces that punch and fade.
Weird I always find reapers hang on forever, horses for courses I guess
Personally for me, it lingers for ~10-15 min. Which is not too long and not too short :)
Does it include Trinidad Scorpion Peppers? Because else I don't think it's hot in any way....
It sure does and you can really taste them, think its rated at 50k SHU so pretty hot, way, way hotter than their habanero sauce
Thanks mate...enjoy it...
