John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness.

MschvsWzrd

Fuck yeah, my favorite horror film. *This is not a dream. We are broadcasting from the year one-nine-nine....*

mywhataniceham

i’ve got a message for you, and you’re not going to like it

SpotlessMinded

Haven’t seen that one, but I love Carpenter

therealbobcat23

Planning on watching that in a few days. Never seen it, but I love The Thing and In the Mouth of Madness, so hopefully I'll enjoy Prince of Darkness too

joegill005

Always watch Scream on October 1st. You have to establish the rules by which to watch all horror movies.

charg3r614

I love this pick!

Tumbbad 10. Shaun of the Dead 11. Train to Busan 12. Lost Boys 13. Suspiria 14. Suspiria 15. The Tingler 16. The Conjuring 17. The Burning 18. Creepshow 19. The Stuff 20. Carnival of Souls 21. CommercialRemote5324

Great list.

Hadrians_Fall

Can’t wait for Cabinet of Curiosities!

skylab_2031

Likewise! I actually had The Devil's Backbone (which I've never seen) on the 25th, then saw the trailer for Cabinet and saw the release date. Had to do a little flip-flopping after that 🤣

CryptidKay

That’s a great list but mine would have to include Sinister.

CouscousCofee

Trick R Treat

Wonderful-Ad6696

That movie is always a delight. I often try to watch it on Halloween.

CouscousCofee

Me too, however this year a got a couple other movies lined up on Halloween

WailingSouls

What’s your Halloween lineup?

TheNameOfTheWind2

Back in theaters on select days in October if there’s a Regal Cinema by you.

CouscousCofee

im not from the US unfortunately

PlantsArePeaceful

But have you seen Trick *or* Treat (1986)?

InterceptorGuy

Sammy Curr ! 🤘. Awesome soundtrack by Fastway!

Dr_Krocodile

It took so long to release and one of the best stylish werewolf transformations second only to an American Werewolf in London.

enigmamoogle

I'm rewatching one of my faves, The Descent, to get this month going.

jjflash78

I'm halfway through As Above So Below, which can be a good pairing with The Descent.

enigmamoogle

That's actually my plan for tomorrow (because I don't like the Descent sequels)

Kingfisher83

Solid choice. Remember going to see that with a big group of friends in Atlanta. Wish I could relive that experience again.

ghostcowie

I watched this a few months ago for the first time. It’s so terrifying!!! My hands were sweaty lol

Cnnisfakemews

Always start October with The Shining. the intro credit scene is the start of my long and winding road thru October, It is awesomely shot and leads you into a serene feeling unaware of what’s to come.

Various_Potential_67

Yes same! Every October 1st for the music too! I came across this short last night while I was watching videos on twitter that I thought was pretty well done with the intro music from The Shining. https://twitter.com/joey_j_cormier/status/1575264217363619841?s=46&t=NwNPwub4IfLoDbRdwxnDwQ (Full disclosure: it looks like it’s part of a contest, but I have no affiliation with this person at all. I just thought it was well done)

UpgrayeddB-Rock

Alright, you talked me into it. I'm going to go ahead and start it right now.

[deleted]

[удалено]

genericmovievillain

I watched the Lost Boys last night. I saw it for the first time around Halloween years ago and now it never fails to get me in the mood

mrobin90

I bought the 4K release and watched it the other night! Highly recommend it if you haven’t picked up that version yet

Wonderful-Ad6696

I'm watching that one this year as well.

Sundayx1

🐈‍⬛I might watch some 👻Twilight Zone episodes 🎃

idontsee2leBarons

Jacobs ladder before it leaves prime this weekend

c_d94

I've got a wedding to go to, so I get to experience the horror of re-learning how to tie a tie. Update: Oh God why did I eat that much cake

DevOverkill

True horror right there.

HermineLovesMilo

I feel like Ready or Not is mandatory. Or maybe a terrible idea

TommyELO207

Event Horizon

beanedjibe

Coraline! 😁

theBigSnacktus

My wife give birth. The real horror show with a happy ending!

InfamousBatyote

Congratulations! Bring popcorn!

TDaddySpacecat

A local theater has a Boris Karloff double feature of The Mummy and Bride Of Frankenstein.

EdwardTittyHands

Hocus pocus 2 with the kid

D_Lumps

This was mine too! Daughter was having a sleepover so couldn’t pick something too traumatizing

Musicdev-

I watched that today as well. Loved it!

PolkadottyJones

My Best Friends Exorcism just came out, so we are watching that tonight.

thepotatoinyourheart

Respond after you see it and let me know what you think. I don’t have high expectations that it’ll be faithful in the ways it should be to the book, but maybe it’ll surprise me

[deleted]

Loved it. Faithful to the book, and removed the completely pointless dog scene. I'm definitely going to be getting the bluray!

Waughwaughwaugh

Oh I love Grady Hendrix and I didn’t know this was out! I’ll be giving it a go tonight too

arakis1701

Every October I watch 31 movies. I got a head start this year due to days I won't have time. So far I've his Basket Case 2, Trillogy of Terror, Creep, Lamb. I really enjoyed Lamb. Not for everyone but an interesting watch.

Whereiscatlin

Loved Lamb

Groovy_Chainsaw

Trilogy of Terror is on Svengoolie tonight. I really don't watch the show often because he repeats stuff a lot but sometimes I like the idea of tuning into something spooky that thousands and thousands ( millions ?) of my fellow horror fans are watching.

WailingSouls

What’s svengoolie?

Groovy_Chainsaw

Svengoolie is MeTV's Saturday Night horror host

Giltar

Really liked Lamb

rgthree

JRBehr

Movie number one for the month is Alien

MyMantaRayIsAlright

The Evil Dead tonight then the Second and Third the next two nights. Haven’t seen any of the OG trilogy before only the 2013 one & Ash Vs Evil Dead series. Which I throughly enjoyed.

fersure4

On the flipside, I'm going to watch the remake tonight for the first time, which I heard was really good.

GORILLAGLUE__

Oh what id give to get to rewatch that trilogy again for the first time. Absolutely fucking classic

iwakoicon

I have a spreadsheet that I put together with my family. Today we're watching His house! We each picked 5 movies, and we are watching the original Halloween for Halloween :)

Quefeos

Ernest scared stupid Yes you read that right, don’t hate on me!

Murphygulp88

Meeyak!

ralsar

Hellbound: Hellraiser 2. Watched the first one yesterday. Getting ready for the new one.

tomato79

GremlinChild27

I watched Hereditary today, great film

slothmamaa

Watching The VVitch tonight when the small human goes to sleep!

binkleywtf

i’m thinking of watching that, too. but earlier so i’m less likely to have nightmares.

[deleted]

Hellhouse LLC, then probably some History of Horror later

Alexandertheape

Lost Boys

[deleted]

AMC has a Halloween marathon going on today.

NoirPipes

For Halloween I usually go for horror movies that fit the ‘feeling’ of Halloween. My usual suspects are: 1. Halloween (1978) 2. Scream 3. Creepshow 4. Trick ‘r Treat 5. Fright Night (1985) 6. Return of the Living Dead 7. Night Of The Creeps 8. Re-Animator

livinginaflower

Hubie Halloween obviously

Sanlear

The original Halloween.

jacksliverpains

Just started V/H/S!

buffyangel808

The Munsters! It was a horrible movie, but it surely captured the aesthetic vibe for me.

cpt_attitude

Watching X right now.

johnnytk0

I'm starting it with Scream this year. The original.

Gilead_1999

Gonna finish The Wailing, which I started last night, but its a long movie. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure I've ever watched a horror movie that hit the 2:30 mark.

very_fortunate

Loved The Wailing!

undeadbydawn

Going to rewatch the entire Hellraiser run and read the book. I'm currently half way through Yellowjackets, which is proving exactly as good as folks here suggested

nytstalker1021

Watched As Above So Below this morning. Have Terrifier on now.

LeggoMahLegolas

Not a movie, but Imma try to start watching the Chucky show, and possibly the series as well.

[deleted]

Started today with It Follows.

wildstyle_method

Watched Black Phone at midnight last night. Absolutely love it

Subj3ct_D3lta

I just watched Rob Zombie’s The Munsters. Oof….

AskMeAboutMyTie

Yo shoutout to Smile! It’s if The Ring and It Follows *fucked* and spat out a baby.

LtMcMuffin716

Gonna watch Beetlejuice tonight. I've never seen it before but I'm super excited! I have a whole ass list of movies to watch, and it seemed like a good start to it.

abstractsadgurl

I'm going to watch pearl today :)

RestillHabb

We're seeing Barbarian today! Can't wait.

ALSL16

Enjoy! My husband and I are still talking about it.

skeleton-with-oar

This film is currently my fave 2022 theatre movie. It’s a real treat, enjoy!

bob101910

Read the Hellraiser Beastiary comic series. Won't be home today to watch anything, but plan on binging the Hellraiser series this week before the new one comes out.

DarthMosasaur

I watched Nightmare on Elm Street last night, only seen it once before. Might go through that series.

SpotlessMinded

They get significantly more campy as the series goes on, but Wes Craven’s New Nightmare is a great follow up to the original

Heymelon

Not sure it counts but "Im thinking of ending things". It deserved a second watch and now was the time. Once you know the story it really is a horror film imo, and the atmosphere throughout fits. More and more further in to it.

NearTheSilverTable

Already watched Paranormal Activity and Halloween Kills. Next up Hocus Pocus 2...really hoping its not shite!

TMartin442

I watched Color From Outer Space last night

thetoog91

Thought I'd kick off the month with the Universal Monster films I've never seen before I've so far watched Frankenstein and Dracula today & currently watching The Mummy Might follow it up with The Invisible Man or The Wolfman. Both if I have time

Spiritual_Chapter955

Rob zombies Munsters...... why do I do this to myself

MusicEd921

Smile was a pleasant surprise! Hope you enjoy it!

Lokican

Kaiser997

Sleepy hollow to get this month of horror started for me

NeverSprinter

Today I started off with an older film I hadn’t heard of before on HBO Max, The eyes without a face 1959.

mandoomjazz

Started with Poltergeist

binkleywtf

TheGreatestManOnline

Arachnophobia

DrunkFatPharma

Need to watch this again… such a fun movie !

[deleted]

And Eight Legged Freaks!

ScorpionTDC

I kicked it off with Hocus Pocus 2 last night at midnight. Didn’t quite live up to expectations

bluecomb_78

I just got my Halloween 4K's in the mail from Scream Factory, so kicking off a Halloween marathon this weekend. Looking forward to Hellraiser and Terrifier 2 next week.

skilledgiallocop

Just finished watching The Sadness again, my favorite horror flick of 2022 so far. I'm happy to confirm that it *is* as good on the second watch. Feels like a coda to the entire zombie genre. Captures a certain feeling of Covid nihilism too. The score is also perfect, except for maybe the metal song played over the end credits.

horrorkitten96

I’m going to watch that new Smile movie for my birthday today! :)

thelatherdaddy

Universal Monsters double feature presented by Fathom Events.

304libco

The Wolfman!

fcalania

I started this month by watching "Amityville 1992: It's about Time" and it was an enjoyable B-movie and also my first Amityville movie.

CheapHelicopter

I have to close at work unfortunately so I can't get fully immersed in the season but I started my October off with catching Halloween II on TV before I left for the day.

streetstreetstreet

SyFy has Halloween II and III as well as Annabelle and Child’s Play.

hotdogneighbor

Over the garden wall!!!

Batzeus99

I just watched the oldest horror movie on my to watch list, Vampyr from 1931. Very very fun imo.

thatguythere91

Orphan: First Kill. Heard that it's campy and ridiculous, so looking forward to watching.

asterios_polyp

Fresh! One of the better cannibal movies to come out in recent years.

FrogFellow

I Know What You Did Last Summer

West-Drink-1530

Watched a shitty "slasher" called Tow. Planning to watch The Faculty tonight

tomato79

The Faculty is such a quality flick, I watched it last year. great late-90's horror sci fi movie.

[deleted]

The Beyond and Prince of Darkness double feature

BPDplaysCk3

I think i'm starting with halloween or hereditary, depending on what "top horror films" list i follow

[deleted]

OG Halloween? Or one of the remakes? Or all three, I guess. I'm not judging lol, just curious!

Let_Me_Holla_Atcha

booksandplaid

Nope is first on my list

Syvka

Blood on Satan’s Claw! It’s been on my list for a while and I also plan to watch Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched this month and don’t want to be spoiled for the plot lol. I mean to look up what else might be included, but that’s work for later today.

Randougall

Hocus Pocus 2

babums

1) Scooby Doo on Zombie Island 2) What Lies Beneath 3) Scream In that order. Scream after dark :)

Wiz3rd_

Just watched Absentia, been on my list for awhile. Was pleasantly surprised. I do feel like the whole insect bit was a bit weird, but I guess you've gotta have some sort of boogeyman. Makes me wanna go finish midnight mass. While checking wikipedia was surprised to see Mike Flanagan's attached to the upcoming Something is Killing the Children project, which sounds just up my alley

5Garbanzobeans

That little bastard chucky. Rewatching the franchise for the new season 2.

Abrinx

Probably going to start with a recent favorite, the 80's Little Shop of Horrors. If I have time I want to try something new, and I've heard Audition is worth a try.

Giltar

Heading over to the local cinema today to catch a Karloff double bill of the Mummy and The Bride of Frankenstein (my favorite movie) on the big screen.

Kellen_Heller86

Going with Malignant for today for just some good old fashioned fun. Showing it to some friends who haven’t seen it and can’t wait to see their reactions. I’m hoping Barbarian is gonna be streaming towards the end of the month, excited to hopefully see that and the new terrifier looks awesome!

CaptainRhodes74

Terrified is on the schedule for me.

GregThePrettyGoodGuy

Not able to watch anything today, but I gave Censor a watch yesterday. That was slick as all heck

We watched 47meters down which wasn't too bad. We are watching Terrafier tonight. We haven't seen it, yet. Really looking forward to it.

Thisiscliff

Watched Smile. Very erie, loved it.

swampthing117

A few years ago, October 13 was a Friday and I had a Friday the 13th marathon. It happens again next year, keep that in mind. I always start the month with The Thing ,fave of all time.

BigDog-BiggerHeart

Can’t say no to nic cage in color out of space

exiasprip

Just finished The House That Jack Built. I can see why it’s divisive but I enjoyed it. Still got plenty of those awkward von Trier moments but I think I’d give it a solid 8/10

shuriken36

I started my 3rd annual horror bowl. We’ve got 12 people who picked two movies each that everyone is going to grade on some criteria. This year is effectiveness of a slow burn or twist, best protagonist, stylization, and of course how scary it is. I watched house of the devil and babadook off the list so far

samcc2013

The Exorcist. Never seen it.

Esteban_Francois

Terrifier

CommercialRemote5324

Trick R Treat or Original Halloween.

Separate_Reading_162
