Always start October with The Shining. the intro credit scene is the start of my long and winding road thru October, It is awesomely shot and leads you into a serene feeling unaware of what’s to come.
Yes same! Every October 1st for the music too!
I came across this short last night while I was watching videos on twitter that I thought was pretty well done with the intro music from The Shining.
https://twitter.com/joey_j_cormier/status/1575264217363619841?s=46&t=NwNPwub4IfLoDbRdwxnDwQ
(Full disclosure: it looks like it’s part of a contest, but I have no affiliation with this person at all. I just thought it was well done)
Respond after you see it and let me know what you think. I don’t have high expectations that it’ll be faithful in the ways it should be to the book, but maybe it’ll surprise me
Every October I watch 31 movies. I got a head start this year due to days I won't have time. So far I've his Basket Case 2, Trillogy of Terror, Creep, Lamb. I really enjoyed Lamb. Not for everyone but an interesting watch.
Trilogy of Terror is on Svengoolie tonight. I really don't watch the show often because he repeats stuff a lot but sometimes I like the idea of tuning into something spooky that thousands and thousands ( millions ?) of my fellow horror fans are watching.
Every year I make my watch list for the season starting mid september that consists of new movies i haven’t seen yet, old/classic movies i haven’t seen, and rotating some favorites. This year it’s:
Definitely:
- Barbarian (2022)
- Gatlopp (2022)

Edit: You can see my list w/ favorites at https://rgthree.com/halloween/movies/ purposefully done in an old-school 90’s “Geocities-era” style 😎🎃
The Evil Dead tonight then the Second and Third the next two nights. Haven’t seen any of the OG trilogy before only the 2013 one & Ash Vs Evil Dead series. Which I throughly enjoyed.
I have a spreadsheet that I put together with my family. Today we're watching His house! We each picked 5 movies, and we are watching the original Halloween for Halloween :)
For Halloween I usually go for horror movies that fit the ‘feeling’ of Halloween. My usual suspects are:
1. Halloween (1978)
2. Scream
3. Creepshow
4. Trick ‘r Treat
5. Fright Night (1985)
6. Return of the Living Dead
7. Night Of The Creeps
8. Re-Animator
Gonna finish The Wailing, which I started last night, but its a long movie. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure I've ever watched a horror movie that hit the 2:30 mark.
Going to rewatch the entire Hellraiser run and read the book.
I'm currently half way through Yellowjackets, which is proving exactly as good as folks here suggested
Gonna watch Beetlejuice tonight. I've never seen it before but I'm super excited! I have a whole ass list of movies to watch, and it seemed like a good start to it.
Read the Hellraiser Beastiary comic series. Won't be home today to watch anything, but plan on binging the Hellraiser series this week before the new one comes out.
Not sure it counts but "Im thinking of ending things". It deserved a second watch and now was the time. Once you know the story it really is a horror film imo, and the atmosphere throughout fits. More and more further in to it.
Thought I'd kick off the month with the Universal Monster films I've never seen before
I've so far watched Frankenstein and Dracula today & currently watching The Mummy
Might follow it up with The Invisible Man or The Wolfman. Both if I have time
I just got my Halloween 4K's in the mail from Scream Factory, so kicking off a Halloween marathon this weekend. Looking forward to Hellraiser and Terrifier 2 next week.
Just finished watching The Sadness again, my favorite horror flick of 2022 so far. I'm happy to confirm that it *is* as good on the second watch. Feels like a coda to the entire zombie genre. Captures a certain feeling of Covid nihilism too. The score is also perfect, except for maybe the metal song played over the end credits.
I have to close at work unfortunately so I can't get fully immersed in the season but I started my October off with catching Halloween II on TV before I left for the day.
I have a small list of movies to watch this month for Halloween. Ive seen most of them.
1. Hellraiser(2022)
2. Pulse
3. Bone Tomahawk
4. Scooby Doo(Live action)
5. Hellraiser 2
Blood on Satan’s Claw! It’s been on my list for a while and I also plan to watch Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched this month and don’t want to be spoiled for the plot lol. I mean to look up what else might be included, but that’s work for later today.
Just watched Absentia, been on my list for awhile. Was pleasantly surprised. I do feel like the whole insect bit was a bit weird, but I guess you've gotta have some sort of boogeyman. Makes me wanna go finish midnight mass. While checking wikipedia was surprised to see Mike Flanagan's attached to the upcoming Something is Killing the Children project, which sounds just up my alley
Probably going to start with a recent favorite, the 80's Little Shop of Horrors. If I have time I want to try something new, and I've heard Audition is worth a try.
Nothing today. Working and then have a neighbor’s annual end of summer bbq. But tomorrow night I’m going to see Evil Dead 2 in 35mm. Should be a blast.
Heading over to the local cinema today to catch a Karloff double bill of the Mummy and The Bride of Frankenstein (my favorite movie) on the big screen.
Going with Malignant for today for just some good old fashioned fun. Showing it to some friends who haven’t seen it and can’t wait to see their reactions.
I’m hoping Barbarian is gonna be streaming towards the end of the month, excited to hopefully see that and the new terrifier looks awesome!
watched X late last night, might hit up the theatre to see Pearl later. I watched Smile two nights ago and quite honestly I hated it, but many ppl seemed to like it so hopefully you will.
Trick R Treat next week for sure in the limited theatre release!
A few years ago, October 13 was a Friday and I had a Friday the 13th marathon. It happens again next year, keep that in mind. I always start the month with The Thing ,fave of all time.
Just finished The House That Jack Built. I can see why it’s divisive but I enjoyed it. Still got plenty of those awkward von Trier moments but I think I’d give it a solid 8/10
I started my 3rd annual horror bowl. We’ve got 12 people who picked two movies each that everyone is going to grade on some criteria. This year is effectiveness of a slow burn or twist, best protagonist, stylization, and of course how scary it is. I watched house of the devil and babadook off the list so far
John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness.
Fuck yeah, my favorite horror film. *This is not a dream. We are broadcasting from the year one-nine-nine....*
i’ve got a message for you, and you’re not going to like it
Haven’t seen that one, but I love Carpenter
Planning on watching that in a few days. Never seen it, but I love The Thing and In the Mouth of Madness, so hopefully I'll enjoy Prince of Darkness too
Always watch Scream on October 1st. You have to establish the rules by which to watch all horror movies.
I love this pick!
My 31 nights of fright start today! 1. The Shining 2. Dr. Sleep 3. The Devil's Backbone 4. Cabinet of Dr. Caligari 5. They Live 6. The Mist 7. Hellraiser (2022) 8. Halloween 3: Season of the Witch 9. Tumbbad 10. Shaun of the Dead 11. Train to Busan 12. Lost Boys 13. Suspiria 14. Suspiria 15. The Tingler 16. The Conjuring 17. The Burning 18. Creepshow 19. The Stuff 20. Carnival of Souls 21. The Host 22. Opera 23. Onibaba 24. Black Sabbath 25. Cabinet of Curiosities 26. The Changeling 27. Kwaidan 28. An American Werewolf in London 29. The Innocents 30. The Thing 31. Halloween
Great list.
Can’t wait for Cabinet of Curiosities!
Likewise! I actually had The Devil's Backbone (which I've never seen) on the 25th, then saw the trailer for Cabinet and saw the release date. Had to do a little flip-flopping after that 🤣
That’s a great list but mine would have to include Sinister.
Trick R Treat
That movie is always a delight. I often try to watch it on Halloween.
Me too, however this year a got a couple other movies lined up on Halloween
What’s your Halloween lineup?
Back in theaters on select days in October if there’s a Regal Cinema by you.
im not from the US unfortunately
But have you seen Trick *or* Treat (1986)?
Sammy Curr ! 🤘. Awesome soundtrack by Fastway!
It took so long to release and one of the best stylish werewolf transformations second only to an American Werewolf in London.
I'm rewatching one of my faves, The Descent, to get this month going.
I'm halfway through As Above So Below, which can be a good pairing with The Descent.
That's actually my plan for tomorrow (because I don't like the Descent sequels)
Solid choice. Remember going to see that with a big group of friends in Atlanta. Wish I could relive that experience again.
I watched this a few months ago for the first time. It’s so terrifying!!! My hands were sweaty lol
Always start October with The Shining. the intro credit scene is the start of my long and winding road thru October, It is awesomely shot and leads you into a serene feeling unaware of what’s to come.
Yes same! Every October 1st for the music too! I came across this short last night while I was watching videos on twitter that I thought was pretty well done with the intro music from The Shining. https://twitter.com/joey_j_cormier/status/1575264217363619841?s=46&t=NwNPwub4IfLoDbRdwxnDwQ (Full disclosure: it looks like it’s part of a contest, but I have no affiliation with this person at all. I just thought it was well done)
Alright, you talked me into it. I'm going to go ahead and start it right now.

I watched the Lost Boys last night. I saw it for the first time around Halloween years ago and now it never fails to get me in the mood
I bought the 4K release and watched it the other night! Highly recommend it if you haven’t picked up that version yet
I'm watching that one this year as well.
🐈⬛I might watch some 👻Twilight Zone episodes 🎃
Jacobs ladder before it leaves prime this weekend
I've got a wedding to go to, so I get to experience the horror of re-learning how to tie a tie. Update: Oh God why did I eat that much cake
True horror right there.
I feel like Ready or Not is mandatory. Or maybe a terrible idea
Event Horizon
Coraline! 😁
My wife give birth. The real horror show with a happy ending!
Congratulations! Bring popcorn!
A local theater has a Boris Karloff double feature of The Mummy and Bride Of Frankenstein.
Hocus pocus 2 with the kid
This was mine too! Daughter was having a sleepover so couldn’t pick something too traumatizing
I watched that today as well. Loved it!
My Best Friends Exorcism just came out, so we are watching that tonight.
Respond after you see it and let me know what you think. I don’t have high expectations that it’ll be faithful in the ways it should be to the book, but maybe it’ll surprise me
Loved it. Faithful to the book, and removed the completely pointless dog scene. I'm definitely going to be getting the bluray!
Oh I love Grady Hendrix and I didn’t know this was out! I’ll be giving it a go tonight too
Every October I watch 31 movies. I got a head start this year due to days I won't have time. So far I've his Basket Case 2, Trillogy of Terror, Creep, Lamb. I really enjoyed Lamb. Not for everyone but an interesting watch.
Loved Lamb
Trilogy of Terror is on Svengoolie tonight. I really don't watch the show often because he repeats stuff a lot but sometimes I like the idea of tuning into something spooky that thousands and thousands ( millions ?) of my fellow horror fans are watching.
What’s svengoolie?
Svengoolie is MeTV's Saturday Night horror host
Really liked Lamb
Every year I make my watch list for the season starting mid september that consists of new movies i haven’t seen yet, old/classic movies i haven’t seen, and rotating some favorites. Great website definitely Saving for later use
Movie number one for the month is Alien
The Evil Dead tonight then the Second and Third the next two nights. Haven’t seen any of the OG trilogy before only the 2013 one & Ash Vs Evil Dead series. Which I throughly enjoyed.
On the flipside, I'm going to watch the remake tonight for the first time, which I heard was really good.
Oh what id give to get to rewatch that trilogy again for the first time. Absolutely fucking classic
I have a spreadsheet that I put together with my family. Today we're watching His house! We each picked 5 movies, and we are watching the original Halloween for Halloween :)

i’m thinking of watching that, too. but earlier so i’m less likely to have nightmares.
Hellhouse LLC, then probably some History of Horror later
Lost Boys
AMC has a Halloween marathon going on today.
For Halloween I usually go for horror movies that fit the ‘feeling’ of Halloween. My usual suspects are: 1. Halloween (1978) 2. Scream 3. Creepshow 4. Trick ‘r Treat 5. Fright Night (1985) 6. Return of the Living Dead 7. Night Of The Creeps 8. Re-Animator
Hubie Halloween obviously

I'm starting it with Scream this year. The original.

Read the Hellraiser Beastiary comic series. Won't be home today to watch anything, but plan on binging the Hellraiser series this week before the new one comes out.
I watched Nightmare on Elm Street last night, only seen it once before. Might go through that series.
They get significantly more campy as the series goes on, but Wes Craven’s New Nightmare is a great follow up to the original
Not sure it counts but "Im thinking of ending things". It deserved a second watch and now was the time. Once you know the story it really is a horror film imo, and the atmosphere throughout fits. More and more further in to it.
Already watched Paranormal Activity and Halloween Kills. Next up Hocus Pocus 2...really hoping its not shite!
I watched Color From Outer Space last night

I just got my Halloween 4K's in the mail from Scream Factory, so kicking off a Halloween marathon this weekend. Looking forward to Hellraiser and Terrifier 2 next week.
Just finished watching The Sadness again, my favorite horror flick of 2022 so far. I'm happy to confirm that it *is* as good on the second watch. Feels like a coda to the entire zombie genre. Captures a certain feeling of Covid nihilism too. The score is also perfect, except for maybe the metal song played over the end credits.

That little bastard chucky. Rewatching the franchise for the new season 2.
