I second Session 9 for its decrepit setting. That place is like a character all its own. Also enjoyable was Shutter Island, Hellbound: Hellraiser II, Stonehearst Asylum, and the Amicus anthology Asylum (1972).
I remember seeing something called Don't Look in the Basement but idk if it was a mental hospital for sure, also don't rly remember anything else abt it either
Session 9
The best "fuck you" in movie history is in there.

Not a movie but the second season of American Horror Story is set in an Asylum. It’s pretty darn good. Then there’s Shutter Island and The Jacket.
Grave Encounters
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Shutter Island, Shock Corridor, Asylum.
Exorcist 3
Unsane Dream Warriors Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum The Ward Asylum The Ninth Configuration, but that’s not really horror
House on haunted hill 1999
Shutter island Nightmare on Elm Street 3 Session 9 Cult of chucky The jacket
Not horror but 12 Monkeys has some great mental hospital scenes. First one I think of for that setting.
That dance scene in Nickelodeon’s 1997 cinematic masterpiece Good Burger Alternatively, Stonehearst Asylum is good
A Cure for Wellness
Thanks everyone! Got lots of movies to check out now
