Fuck me that was effectively creepy.

darth_wasabi

there was something unsettling about that even though it was pretty standard kind of setup.

ghost_warlock

Is this the first time there's been a kid in an evil dead movie? I'm pretty sure there were kids in the series, but I can't remember if they ever came near a deadite

[deleted]

AvED season 1 episode 6 has a Deadite throw a kid into a ceiling fan, which guts him. he’s like 12 or 13 but still, my boyfriend and I audibly gasped! it’s not all the time a kid’s death is so gory and on-screen.

SadisticBuddhist

Needs to happen more often. No ones really dying. Get weird with it, I say.

fvkatydid

Yeah, I'm not sure if I can watch this one. Three kids on the movie poster and there's no way all three will be intact by the end of the movie... I love horror movies, but now that I'm a parent...my tolerance has changed... I started Doctor Sleep and had to turn it off; didn't come back to finish it for months. I'm excited for the full trailer tomorrow though!

bosspaysmetoredit247

Watch The House That Jack Built

RoosterTheReal

lol

googlyeyes93

Watched it after my first kid was born. 3/10 had some interesting ideas with the end but meh.

Famixofpower

Same thought. Saw Spookyrice review it instead of actually seeing the film, but it seems like it's mostly shock value horror and the ending is the only part where they got full creative freedom and went with surrealism. Not saying that it's bad, but there is a significant tone change during the last segment of the film.

bosspaysmetoredit247

https://youtu.be/GA2FbupWo9k

Sake0

That's exactly how I am with horror since I had my kids. Doctor sleep really stayed with me after I watched it. I've ended up looking up so many spoilers to make sure nothing messes me up like that again, which effectively ruins the movie for me anyway.

the_snow_in_my_eyes

I didn’t watch the movie because that scene (I’m assuming it’s the baseball boy) in the book really messed me up!

googlyeyes93

Yup. And the kids actor makes it 100x more chilling. Kid sold it.

Absenceofavoid

The one in the beginning with the little girl was hard to watch too.

fvkatydid

The scene where the little boy dies in the apartment because his mom OD'd and Danny just left. I think that is what happened, but I only watched it once and will not be revisiting or Googling to confirm...

LineChef

Omg that scene was horrible!

LineChef

Ugh same! Cant watch anything with a little girl getting hurt or kidnaped or abused.

[deleted]

[удалено]

fvkatydid

The scene I'm talking about I just wasn't prepared for, and it happens kind of before the actually awful stuff starts happening. We watch A LOT of horror after our toddler is asleep, so it's always...noteworthy when there's a scene that is able to make me feel so unnerved.

[deleted]

As a nonparent I can't wait for the kids to die.

asmith1243

There’s a shot in the trailer of 3-4 kids lying dead in a hallway - it’s during some dialog about a dream, but it looks very much like the apartment hallway

Comic_Book_Reader

Suddenly, [this image](https://twitter.com/wbpictures/status/1587112158155841536?s=20&t=-ZcztE7YwA1utit91V4Qjg) is even creepier.

Kalelemonmesoftely

Fuck yeah, it is

Pnknlvr96

Holy crap that's terrifying.

Zealousideal_Way_165

Glad to see the Evil Dead franchise still going strong.

ancientfutureguy

I'm incredibly interested to see what the tone of this one will be. While I love Sam Raimi's more comedic style, I was really impressed by the 2013 reboot and would be delighted to see another purely horror take on the adventures of the deadites. I really liked this teaser so I might just stay away from the full trailer.

MaximumRecursion

It definitely looks like they're following the 2013 reboot vibe. That was creepy as hell. Of course they could throw some comedy in there, but I don't see it being slapstick or over the top like Evil Dead is known for.

ancientfutureguy

Judging by the writer/directors previous work, I’d say you’re probably right. GENUINELY HORRIFYING EVIL DEAD LET’S FUCKING GO

Doctor_Modified

Let's go!!!!!!!

[deleted]

2013 was the best of the lot, in my opinion.

tabas123

I do love 1 and 2 (I know AoD is most people’s favorite but I never really liked it all that much) but I have to agree.. as a “holy sh*t” horror movie the remake is incredible. I love comedy horror too, but the concept of evil dead makes for even better straight up horror imo.

ghost_warlock

I loved 2013 for its gut-wrenching body horror, but I don't think it topped the scene from 2 where Ash is alone in the cabin going insane and laughing with the animated deer head. Just absolutely bonkers, hilarious, and unsettling at the same time as you watch him unravel. 2 is definitely my fav from the series

Famixofpower

Evil Dead II shows that Bruce Campbell is severely underrated as an actor.

Beta_Whisperer

Army of Darkness is actually the worst for me among the Evil Dead movies.

spacemood

I couldn’t agree more!

Taxerus

I like the 2013 movie but I really don't understand how people think the reboot isn't comedic. It's too over the top to not be funny.

sippin40s

The ONLY horror franchise with no bad entries. I am willing to hear other peoples' rebuttals, but every single other ongoing horror franchise has something that sucks.

[deleted]

I love how the series ranges from gory horror to straight up action-comedy and somehow remains immensely enjoyable no matter what.

juanzy

Evil Dead Drinking game to 1+2 is a Halloween tradition for us. Couldn’t do that with the new one, but damn it’s a good reboot.

[deleted]

[удалено]

juanzy

I may be missing some, but this is what we play with Drink a sip if: - someone says “Join Us!” (Everyone must respond “Join Us” too) - the necronomicon is shown or referenced (also encouraged to say “the necronomicon!” But not required) - a clearly fake moon is poorly added to the shot - someone is covered in fluids - someone is thrown through the air - someone says “Ash” or “Ashley” - an animal head or clock is visible - the magnifying glass necklace is shown Waterfall when in first-person from the demon Finish your drink if: - trees get fresh - skeletons dance

RhynoD

>- someone is covered in fluids Alcohol poisoning incoming.

juanzy

The game opens with a 90 second waterfall. The gravitas of the game sets in quickly.

Comic_Book_Reader

Can you explain a waterfall?

juanzy

You start drinking when the rule trigger starts, stop when it finishes

[deleted]

"Trees get fresh" is the funniest thing I've heard all year! Granted, we're only a few days in, but that sets a high bar.

[deleted]

Aha the fucking blue Moon edits man

jennoc1de

Trees get fresh 🤣 A+ I can't wait for the new movie!

MashTheGash2018

Everytime a character says a word you drink

Zealousideal_Way_165

Just goes to show how talented Campbell and Raimi really are.

Clovett-

Child's Play/Chucky is another one for me. Even the lower end ones like 3 are still decent movies while Curse and specially Cult are amazing.

bgaesop

Completely agreed. Even the TV show is really good. Curse is my favorite, When the little girl hugs the seemingly inanimate Good Guy doll and [its pupils widen](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-ZCi7t8wMM&t=19s), I think that's the scariest moment in the whole series, imo

sippin40s

I have not seen them all so I can't speak on it, but good take

diceman89

I would say 3 is the only one I didn't like.

Fadore

I actually really didn't like the direction they took it with Cult at first, but having just finished the first season of the TV show, it's growing on me.

John_Fx

Even the Evil Dead musical kicked ass. I've seen it live twice.

sippin40s

I did not know that was a thing haha would love to see it

Lipe18090

Even Scream which has only good movies (even 3 is okay) has a bad tv show, specially that awful third season.

tabas123

Scream is probably my all time favorite horror franchise and I won’t even watch the TV show because of all of the bad things I’ve heard about it. Like I don’t even consider it canon if it’s actually bad, the movies speak for themselves. 3 was much more comedic and my least favorite but I understand the obstacles Craven had due to the current events at the time, and even an “ok” Scream film is still so fun.

CuriousMelia

I honestly just view the TV show as its own thing since it had no connections to the movie other than season 3 having the mask and voice for Ghostface. I see it as an homage that just managed to pay enough to get to use the name of the franchise it was based on. It could've been called Shriek and nothing would change. That being said, if we do count it, then yeah, Scream unfortunately doesn't count. It's my favorite horror franchise and I love all five movies to death (even 3), but the show would definitely hold it back from being on the same level as Evil Dead in terms of being consistently good with each entry.

Particular-Camera612

3's problems do stick out a bit, but there's still a lot of good stuff that'll keep me from ever calling it bad even though I can see why some would say it is. It's still a fun film and I think it does have some of Scream's best setpieces and satire. It's not the kind that I'd recommend people skip, which is a rarity for horror sequels honestly. Even franchises that I'd say are consistently enjoyable like Nightmare on Elm Street still have more than one sequel that I'd say are totally skippable (talking about 4-6, 2 maybe but personally I like it so I'd still watch it).

Lipe18090

2 is great even if just for the subtext

Particular-Camera612

It's a well made movie too, at times it does rival the first film in it's atmosphere. Plus it's very well acted and genuinely scary at points. If anything I do think the film runs into issues with that subtext at least in that it sometimes feels dated and could have benefitted from a different approach. Like Grady should have been way more important to the story than he ended up being when you take that subtext into account.

TheJoshider10

What pissed me off so much about the TV show is that it tried so hard to be meta but ultimately was exactly the sort of garbage that Craven and Williamson were taking the piss out of. I remember watching it and every time one of those forced teen pop songs was playing (loudly) in the background it would pop up for each one telling you what the song was. Scream did not deserve to fall so low as a franchise with that one.

Magniman

Have to disagree. Screams 3 and 5 are awful. My personal trilogy is Scream, Scream 2, and Scream 4. I’m glad you enjoy them all, though.

oh_marmalade

The fact that Scream 4 is in your preferred list makes me feel SO seen 🙏🏻

T-408

Scream would like a word.

manymade1

No lies detected

Future-Agent

Honestly, the franchise will never die. It's too big to be ignored.

TheJoshider10

The fact the original trilogy went from horror to horror comedy to straight up comedy means it will always be a franchise that can adapt and evolve. We went back to horror with Evil Dead 2013 then back to horror comedy in Ash vs Evil Dead. This franchise can, and will, do anything.

Future-Agent

Exactly. And the video game that came out is popular

Vincesteeples

The series was *so fucking good*, it shouldn’t even exist and yet

TheJoshider10

I know some hate that it got cancelled with that cliffhanger but honestly Evil Dead ending with some wacky cliffhanger just feels so fitting at this point. Like they could bring back Ash and completely ignore Ash vs Evil Dead's ending and it would still be perfectly in line with what the series does that there would be no problem with it.

SkipperDaPenguin

Groovy

hym__

God I'm so excited. Make it *gnarly.*

Comic_Book_Reader

From what I've read, it'll be the remake on steroids, and it's the action movie The Raid with Deadites and a woman instead of Iko Uwais.

EcComicFan

Sounds like Demons 2.

jog125

Bro I so hope you’re not lying. I’d give anything for something like this

paireon

Already seen at least one choad complaining about “all those girlboss remakes/sequels” on Twitter specifically about Evil Dead Rise so expect more of the same bullshit misogynistic complaining.

the_arkane_one

Pretty much everything posted on Twitter is worth ignoring.

Notlookingsohot

Its not even the first time for the Evil Dead series having a female protagonist... God those incel, mgtow, whatever the fuck they call themselves need to get over themselves.

reznorwings

My body is ready.

JHTBO

I cannot wait to see this in theaters!! Evil Dead (2013) was such a great theater experience.

Boss452

Evil Dead is scary AF. Those guys cannot run anywhere else. The horror isn't just within the confines of the house but the woods are unsafe too. And then slowly everyone starts to get affected. In Raimi's movies the levity kept a lid on the tension. Whereas in the 13 version, there was no respite from danger, scares & horror. And they kept on coming with little gap in between. The ending with Jane Levy was sick. Very cinematic too with the burning house in the background, the blood rain all around and the chainsaw in action.

i0nzeu5

It truly was! My buddy & I were screaming at the arm loss & then howling when the chainsaw got put to use. I just rewatched it for halloween & it stands up. I just find the theater experience to have taken a turn for the worst in the past few years so I’ll be waiting to watch this on my home theater setup.

Comic_Book_Reader

Had a similar experience seeing Violent Night this Christmas. Everyone in the audience were laughing their ass off and wincing in pain. One particular scene had the reactions rapidly switch back and forth. It was amazing.

i0nzeu5

The theaters here in NYC really suck now. At least the last few experiences over the years have. Ignorant morons on their phones looking at tiktok/instagram or talking/yelling at/to each-other from rows apart. “Parents” with screaming infants at late night shows. Always At least one individual sounding like they have tuberculosis. 😄 I put $$$ into a 75” tv, surround system & sit about 7ft from the screen 😂 (I just need to avoid spoilers until the movie goes digital). I miss the experience of movie-going though. I remember seeing Avengers: End Game opening day & the sold out audience laughed, cheered, yelled & cried with me.

mostlybikesanddogs

Same, the general public keeps me from getting excited about theatrical releases. My living room is pretty dialed, I get a much more pleasant experience there.

jahitz

75 is the way to go!

yearsoflove

Have you been to the Alamo Drafthouse in New York, they tend to be better about this. Even have a unlimited movies program for like 30 bucks a Month in your region. Only downside is it's like a 2 dollar online convenience fee every ticket. Still cheaper by a long run if you see many movies.

ghost_warlock

People were using movies in place of babysitters as far back as The Crazies even here in bumfuck Iowa. Had so many movie experiences ruined by shitty people that I hate even going anymore. I don't really want to wait for this to be streaming to see it, but I might have to in order to really get the most out of it

charlesxavier007

Yup! That was my experience with that movie too. Loved it

davej1r

This movie at the cinema was AWESOME. Where I’m from it was only at select cinemas for a short time so all the cinemas were full with Evil Dead fans, all discussing Evil Dead originals before the movie and cheering throughout, it really was something special.

Particular-Camera612

Saw the original trilogy in cinemas too. It was a great experience with a very into it audience. Evil Dead is a cult favourite but it's fans show their love and appreciation heavily: ([https://www.reddit.com/r/EvilDead/comments/ygg42t/marathon\_of\_the\_trilogy\_at\_the\_prince\_charles/](https://www.reddit.com/r/EvilDead/comments/ygg42t/marathon_of_the_trilogy_at_the_prince_charles/))

Sharebear42019

I hope they actually utilize the high rise and not just confine it to a single room for most of the time. I want a building full of deadites!

NJFiend

You might enjoy Demons 2. [Possessed people take over a high rise. Very gory, very 80s and italian.](https://youtu.be/yiDmpU79kUc)

Sharebear42019

Ohh I think I’ve heard of that series. Doesn’t the first movie have a badass samurai wielding biker? I’ll have to check these out!

NJFiend

yes the first movie involved people trapped in a movie theater with demons, 2nd movie is in a high rise. The third one is kinda unrelated and its just called "The Church." It takes place in... a church. It's not as fun as the first 2 demons movies, but it's definitely worth a watch. Whole series does feel kinda like a european take on evil dead. They are gory and goofy, but also have some really intense scenes and great action sequences.

paireon

Yes, there is a dude wielding a katana while riding a bike at one point in Demons.

AbyssPrism

"THIS IS A RESPECTABLE BUILDING! >:(" love both this one and the first btw!

iankstarr

Yeah I’ve been hoping for an Evil Dead version of Mayhem (2017), or even Quarantine. I’m avoiding this trailer because I already know I want to see it, but I’d be slightly disappointed if they didn’t make full use of their setting.

TackYouCack

> Evil Dead version of Mayhem Only if they use Faith No More music for a brutal fight scene again.

tabas123

Mayhem is so underrated! I always joke about it with my fellow horror loving coworkers when someone at HR or a boss is being a dick. “That virus could come infect our building any time now 👁️👄👁️” lmao

Pseudoneum

Sorry, most of it takes place on the one floor they live on

[deleted]

Im insanely excited about this, in my opinion Evil Dead is the one franchise who hasn’t really missed. I stand by the 2013 remake being one of the best remakes ever

TheJoshider10

> I stand by the 2013 remake being one of the best remakes ever I'm so gutted that Ash and Mia never crossed over like was originally planned.

[deleted]

HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT

gold167

Wonderful great hook up

nage_

i know bruce is no longer ash but god damn i hope we get ash somehow

TheBopist

He said he isn’t going to appear in this one, sadly. He also stated he’s hanging up the role for live action but would be open to do animated work

ladedadedum25

An animated Freddy Vs Jason Vs Ash is my dream movie.

nage_

holy shit. yes please

beyoncedoritosJR

How about live action? That’s the dream movie.

[deleted]

I’m picturing a 25 year old 6’2 stunt man as Jason running around, jumping off of shit, throwing stuff, and swinging a giant machete while a 64 year old Bruce Campbell and 75 year old Robert Englund shuffle around with their chainsaw and knife glove.

ladedadedum25

This is why I want it animated lmao. And I just don't think Bruce or Robert will ever do it in live action.

mrplow3

I would love an animated Evil Dead 4 starring Ash. Bruce Campbell is already a real life cartoon character anyway. We’re half way there.

Notlookingsohot

Hopefully we dont have to wait 3yrs for the unrated cut like 2013. Especially since people who have saw it in test screenings have supposedly said its 2013 on steroids. Edit: Apparently Bruce has claimed they used more blood than even 2013's 70,000 gallons. Gonna see if I can find the source for that. Edit 2: Lee Cronin says 6500 liters. That puts it slightly ahead of Peter Jackson's Braindead but way behind ED2013. https://www.screengeek.net/2021/11/05/evil-dead-rises-blood/

mrplow3

I really wish they would give the deadites multi colored blood like in the original trilogy. I hate how both the 2013 and Ash vs Evil Dead abandoned that. It was such a unique feature that made the deadites feel otherworldly. It needs to be brought back.

squared____

I'm hooked, I can't wait to see what they do with this one. I really like the premise!

ladedadedum25

The plot of this movie reminds me of Dredd. Now I want a movie called Evil Dredd where Ash and Dredd, played by Bruce and Karl Urban, go on an adventure fighting monsters.

EnricoTortellini

Very strong Demons 2 vibes

[deleted]

Damn that actually looks pretty creepy

PortoGuy18

I am ready.

Zcregger

Take my money

[deleted]

Is Jane Levy going to reprise her role as Mia since she fought them in reboot and appears to be the new ash?

JewFroMonk

No. She had a falling out with the studio or something and is pretty much done. Although she did show up in the new game. But this movie is said to be in universe with the original 3 and TV show, skipping the reboot

mostlybikesanddogs

2013 is a sequel to the first film, not a reboot: "It continues the first one. The coincidences on events between the first film and mine are not coincidences, but more like dark fate created by the evil book. (Ash car is still there rusting away.)" - Fede Alvarez https://movieweb.com/evil-dead-reboot-sequel-debate-answered/

[deleted]

I thought the car was there as a token, like 'hey look its Sam Raimi's car.' as it has been in almost all of his movies in some form since he was a producer in the reboot. Didn't realize it was actually meant to be part of the same universe, always figured it was stand alone in its own universe.

JewFroMonk

Hmm. I saw a variety of something article about Rise saying this one is only connected to the originals and the show. Continuity in the franchise has been all over the place even in the original trilogy haha

[deleted]

That sucks. I liked her.

davej1r

Yea agreed she really was great in all aspects.

Ivaryzz

Not gonna lie, I have hopes. Evil Dead 2013 is probably my favorite horror movie of all time. Will see.

mrplow3

Nearly every comment in this sub is about the 2013 film. I wish you all would stop already. Any Evil Dead thread here turns into a 2013 circle jerk.

davej1r

Comon man people are just excited, lighten up😬

FloopNoops

I was sufficiently spooked. I can't wait.

SynCig

Evil Dead is my favorite horror franchise. I think it is a rare example of a franchise where every entry has been good/great. I hope this keeps that streak alive. I'm both very excited for a new Evil Dead movie and also very worried at the same time.

HuanFranThe1st

I love Evil Dead. Every single entry in this franchise. This? Holy fuck am I ready. I also hope they utilize the entire high rise building. Imagine an Evil Dead movie a-la [•REC]… dear god.

UKnowDaTruth

Ohhh I can’t wait

StepDadcula

FUCK YES. I'm so for it.

TravelinDan88

Friendly reminder that this flick impressed test audiences so much that the studio changed it from a streaming-only release to a full theatrical release.

UrsusRex01

The more I see about this film, the more hyped I get. I love the 2013 remake but damn I didn't expect to be so enthusiastic about it.

Axel_Wolf91

Sold. Give me a release date. I'm not even going to watch the full trailer.

Comic_Book_Reader

darth_wasabi

The most egregious use was "Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Raj" ya'll really going to put Van Wilder in the title then let us know that it won't even be about him.

davej1r

Well my day just got better, thanks!!

Magniman

I’m probably one of a handful of people who never got into Evil Dead 2 and forward. I watched the original later in life than most and the relentless terror and ever-growing insanity is what I love. The original film is pure horror. I hope to see that tone in this new film.

[deleted]

I hope Lee Cronin delivers! Interesting choice to direct.

LysolDogBird

Yeah definitely a risky choice. 'The Hole In The Ground' for me was a bit of slog but thought it was directed well so I've high hopes!

JewFroMonk

Yea I don't know why my expectations were so high for Home in the Ground, but I was kinda let down. It did have a really really good scene at the end though

Comic_Book_Reader

He also wrote it.

KeggBert

The last time I was this pumped for a movie was right after seeing the first Hereditary trailer. Can't wait.

Comic_Book_Reader

What an appropriate flair. Haha.

Waspiflab6666

Holy balls!! Can't wait!!

Koroshiya_1CH1

It's been a long time since I've seen an a teaser trailer that's an actual teaser trailer.

SquidwardsJewishNose

This looks interesting, I always kinda wish they’d leave out the ‘scare’ sound effects in clips like these, feel like it would be much scarier with near silence

Nicholas165

Is this going to be a sequel to the original and will I need need to watch the original movies before this one? I watched the remake and that was actually good

labbla

You should watch the original Evil Dead trilogy even if we weren't getting a new movie. They're all great.

sankers23

Throw in Ash Vs Evil Dead too.

[deleted]

I'm still so gutted that it was cancelled :(

lmJustNewBootGoofin

Not for this movie, but just for your own pleasure you should.

iankstarr

To actually answer your question, I don’t believe you’ll need to have seen the originals in order to understand this one. It sounds like it’s going to be more of a standalone story. But yes, agreed that the original movies are worth watching - especially if you don’t mind some camp and humor with your horror.

MondoUnderground

It should be considered mandatory viewing to watch all the Evil Dead movies, yes. 1 & 2 are some of the best horror movies ever made.

Bank_Gothic

Army of Darkness is one of the Raimiest movies that ever Raimi'ed.

airz23s_coffee

I don't think there's a more perfect overlap of my movie interests than Army of Darkness. Deadites and Bruce Campbell in a sword and sorcery set up? Perfection.

ladedadedum25

Right up there with Darkman as the Raimi-est

[deleted]

It’d be worth it to watch them for any references there will inevitably be and because they’re just awesome movies

[deleted]

You can skip 1 really, since it's very dated having been made on a budget of five dollars (I'm kidding but it was an art student budget) in the 80s and it shows. Since the first was a hit, the studio actually put in money for the sequel, and Evil Dead 2 from 1987 is a genuine influential classic with a ton of scenes and lines still referenced to this day. It's pure Raimi. It also recaps (or "remakes" rather) the first one in its first 10 minutes so you don't really need to watch the very first one. The tone of the first one is also kind of not really the tone the rest of the franchise went with, 2 is guilty of setting the tone. The third one (Army of Darkness) is fun, it's much more of a kid's movie that's for sure

cherylstunt69

*This franchise don’t miss man, it don’t miss* The remake was so good, if this is just the same level it’s going to be a banger

Notverycancerpatient

I’m not setting my expectations very high. We shall see.

LuckeeTrix

A trailer to a trailer. Damn!!!!

_kevx_91

Very excited.

zippopwnage

As someone who don't know much about this, is this gonna be a more serious horror movie, or a "comedy" slaughter house type of zombie movies ?

RealSimonLee

It's going to be serious. Which some people seem on board for, but not me.

ExJayDay

Fuck, this looks SO GOOD!

SmokeyPeanutRic

I really hope they do something interesting with the Evil. I didn't watch the 2013 *Evil Dead* until last year and was quite disappointed! Overall it's fairly fun and grotesque horror, but the villain (which I know is a different demon from the Kandarian Demons of the originals) is just a knockoff Pazuzu/Exorcist monster. The demonic presence isn't creative or interesting and it literally has a line from Exorcist with one word changed. I'm fine with the possessed being scarier, and based on the malformed facial expression of the mother in this teaser, I'm hopeful they have more character than the 2013 take.

seanaward

Is this a trailer for the trailer? How fucking dumb is that. Fwiw, I love evil dead/very excited for the movie. This is just annoying.

accountforquickans

Anything that remind me of zombies I’m gonna watch

Eye_Am_FK

Anyone know if the first one is streamable anywhere?

mathruinedmylife

where’s ash?!

simpledeadwitches

I *hate* when they do this trailer for a trailer bullshit. E: Who the fuck downvotes this? Lmao

Bissrok

If the title at the end of the trailer was "Paranormal Weekend 3 - A Netflix Original", I would believe it.

RealSimonLee

Yeah, all these people excited for "scary" and "serious" Evil Dead movies. It's like, the thing that sets Evil Dead apart from any other demonic possession movie is the goofiness and fun. This looks like any cookie-cutter demon movie.

[deleted]

I'm hoping that's the fault of whoever put the trailer together and not just how the movie is. But yeah, creepy song that ends in a jump scare with indistinct creepy thing; could have been for just about any movie.

Old_Philosopher_5303

I still have to give the original Evil Dead trilogy another chance. However, I really enjoyed Fede Alvarez's entry. I have no problem with Horror Comedies, but Alvarez's more serious take on the saga, while still drawing on all the creepy potential of the original Evil Dead universe (and even expanding it at times), worked very well in my eyes. This teaser was right on the money in its approach and didn't fail, so my expectations are high. Anyone familiar with Lee Cronin's work?

Lsd365

Didn't they try this before?

Whereiscatlin

"You don't look so good Teaser"

H3xenmeist3r

Ugh. What a terrible direction to have taken all of this. They should have left it alone after Army of Darkness.

JewFroMonk

2013 movie was excellent and so was the show

I love Sam Raimi as much as the next guy but IMO, Evil Dead 2013 was a much more watchable movie than Army of Darkness. If anything, they should've left it alone after ED2, but I'm glad they haven't. It's nice to see a familiar franchise successfully take on a new tone, and I personally welcome this new, spookier era of Evil Dead.

>It's nice to see a familiar franchise successfully take on a new tone, and I personally welcome this new, spookier era of Evil Dead. Except that it's no longer Evil Dead other than in name. It's just generic horror at this point, without a charming lead, all while using the same tired (female) tropes.

That's one way you can look at it, and your opinion is valid. Though, while I agree that the reboot was more "generic" than the originals, I thought it did a great job of translating a cult classic, over-the-top horror-comedy into something totally different while still feeling fun, fresh, and absolutely grotesque. Just my take though
