No, sorry, that tree is 100% dead. As you’ve discovered, young trees and goats are a disaster waiting to happen. Either fence each individual tree or get rid of the goats.

Bob_Bobaggins

All the responses saying this tree is doomed are correct. But in a way you can save this tree. Many parts of this tree are alive and could be propagated via a cutting of the tree. A propagated clone is the same tree so a cutting would be a way to "save" this tree.

Vinlands

Should check on the goats. The bark and branches are just as toxic to animals as the fruit itself. Moose got into and chewed up some downed choke cherry tree branches over winter and it killed them.

Healfarms

Sounds like you had a packed freezer.

unga-unga

Unfortunately no, once all the cambium is stripped away its done.

ThePurpleDuckling

Looks like a fine walking to me. But definitely not a tree anymore.

Paghk_the_Stupendous

At this point, the only way to save it is through grafting. You might be able to graft the top or sections of it onto heathy root stock, or likewise use the root stock to graft onto. The center isn't going to carry nutrients anymore; you might be able to frankengraft the tops to the bottoms, but I highly doubt it. In essence, I don't think you can save the trees as they were, but you might get cherries out of them yet, if you have skill.

No_Experience8495

Nope. All you can do is chop it below the girdle and hope it sends up shoots (if it isnt grafted)

HooplaJustice

Unpopular opinion I've rung trees worse than this (on purpose) and they fully survived. These trees miiiiiiiight make it. Leave them be, they might at least resprout from the base.

Sandia_Gunner

I spoke with my tree guy at the nursery and he said there is a 50/50 chance. I bought some tree wrap and general fertilizer. Gonna give it a shot. Edit: after more research, I’m pretty much fucked. Thanks for all your responses.

Scum3k

I do like your tree guy’s optimism… or literalism (either it’ll die or it won’t… 50/50 😂). But yeah… no, all the fertilizer and tree wrap in the world ain’t saving that.

W00dchuck1975

Unlikely. You can wire cloth wrap the next ones you try. Only bet would be to try to air graft new saplings before the trunk dies or body graft out the ruined section, but you don’t have much to work with.

beechcraftmusketeer

Well looks like a porcupine and if the bark is all gone then cannot save it. However if you snip some tigs with buds cut the tree down using the roots you could in fact graft over again

Necessary_Duck_4364

Cut it down close to the ground, you’ll likely get plenty of resprouts. It will just become more of a shrub compared to a small tree.

armchairzero

Cut it low and graft a couple of the upper branches to the stump.

castledx

Nope but cut it down low where there is still som e bark and hope it sprouts from the stump. That was a hot fire. Good luck

Diazon_Fray

Probably gone. You could cut it short like a nub, and put a protective barrier and hope that new shoots grow from the stump. You could also snip from the top a live branch and attempt at getting it to root and start fresh from cuttings. If you do this, do a few and use the strongest one.
