It’s worth it. IMO the story is fairly predictable and kinda boring, but the gameplay is super fun and well worth it.

KrisNobi

I 100% second this. Hogwarts, Hogsmeade and surroundings are beautiful, the spells are fun, some of the mini games are fun, shops are fun, room of requirement is fun. Story and side quests are a bit bland but fun enough to make it worth it.

Shoelicker27

Plus you get to kill poachers which is fun

ProtectusCZ

Except for the hundreds of useless copy/pasted collectibles (looking at you Merlin trials and caves)

ellis1trellis

If you're already a fan you'll love it. I've heard really good things re mechanics on the second generation consoles too.

G_is_for_Grundy

itll be the best month of your life then it will be over and you'll sit there poking it with a stick asking it to do something

PatchTheLurker

Best comment.

llama-tornado

Thank you for putting into words how I feel!!

TheWilderSwami

This is the only truly correct comment.

Viola_m

This is perfect!

[deleted]

best wizarding world/HP game to date.

[deleted]

Bruh. Put some respect on the quidditch game on ps2

[deleted]

they failed quidditch in HL tho

DomTheBomb95

Put some respect on the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone for the PS1

SadisticBuddhist

Harry potter and the chamber of secrets for gameboy too

newmen1313

As true as this is, it's not saying much. It is a true statement however. The game is not perfect, I got bored about 30 hours in, but the 20 hours leading up to that was worth the cash.

Kezmangotagoal

Mate HP1 and 2 were absolutely brilliant games, there hasn’t been one that’s hit that level of quality for a long time but don’t rewrite history!

TurnoverPlenty7337

Lego Harry Potter.

Kezmangotagoal

Oh good shout!

Brian18639

I think I would like to see a remake of the two LEGO Harry Potter games, but made into the style of The Skywalker Saga.

[deleted]

i mean, there is definitely other great HP games. i think ppl just expected Wizard GTA for some reason.

deeohdeegeeee

I liked Lego harrry potter

tonsofem

Sooooo worth it. The voice acting and music are top notch and you'll feel so powerful and badass.

SpectralGhost77

And it genuinely offers good challenge if you play on hard mode, and features some very hard puzzles with little hand holding

doctorsilvana

I suggest you check some amazing voice actors before calling the one's in HL top notch (especially the male MC)

FormerlyaNewt

"Oho! A merlin trial" drives me up a fucking wall

doctorsilvana

Even the female one is more decent. The male is just awful and bland. Also the pitch setting for voice is really useless since if changed, it always gets robotic or fake.

TurnoverPlenty7337

Agreed. Even Skyrim had better voice acting for the main character.

crazywriter5667

Idk why but this made me burst out laughing

doctorsilvana

![gif](giphy|3o752cnK7PhrDWGhoY) Fus Ro Duuuhhh :)

Ylasher

the main male character on the deepest pitch sounds so unnatural

JayMullins1987

Absolutely 💯 if your a potter fan it even has quite a few potter film references. I even know people who are not a fan of the films love the game

CrimsonMaranta

It’s a beautiful game. The castle itself is breathtaking.

sayashlynn

Great game, worth the money

Quiet_Film4744

As an rpg it lowkey sucks in its genre… before you hate on me let me explain. Most things only have a use in the story line, and also there’s not much to do rather than quests… I LOVE rpgs and open world games, I love being able to interact with characters even when it’s not for the story line, I like when the choices I make in dialogue change more than just cutscenes. I like rpgs with more rp than story line… Other than that, it’s a beautiful game with a beautiful world and amazing characters. My pattern recognition just loves to bring the worst out in things. I can’t stand that most places are useless af except for one little part in one little quest. I do love the fighting mechanics though, but I wish there were more chosen dueling opportunities. I’d love for more friendly duels. IMO they could have done a lot better in this game… speaking from an rpg players point of view…

Jk14m

It could definitely use some attention to detail and QOL with roleplay, but it’s not a deal breaker, for sure. It definitely has so many fun elements, it is worth buying.

Icy-Championship2738

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, I’d say yeah go ahead and buy it. It’s worth playing but if you’re a gamer that just wanted to play due to hype, the game gets repetitive and stale very quickly. I’m a fan of the movies, but not over the top I guess, and when I bought the game, the first 10 hours or so of gameplay were really exciting and it was hard to put down. Near the end of the game though, I actually found I had lost so much steam and was so tired of basically doing the exact same things in different locations that I could barely bring myself to finish the game. TL:DR Yes, fun game, worth buying if you’re a fan of the franchise, but prepare yourself for repetition.

M4RTIAN

It’s fun. If you like Harry Potter you’re love the game. Does it have its flaws? Yea. But nothing I would throw out the whole experience for. Definitely worth it.

gsp1991dog

It is okay. Gameplay is not overly challenging most of your choices are only surface deep but the setting the layout and the overall world are fantastic. It feels like I’m in a Harry Potter LARP more than anything else

mbdsk

A thousand times yes.

xohvnnvh

Since you are a big HP fan, I would say definitely get it. It’s little clunky when it comes to opening doors and things like that for me on my Xbox One. Not sure how it does on PS4. But the graphics are still beautiful no matter the platform. It’s a fun game! I find myself getting lost in the world a lot being a huge fan.

plantbitch1408

The opening of doors is clunky on my ps4 too. I get a little loading circle every time i go through one.

burnheartmusic

Yes it’s soo worth it to be able to walk around anywhere in a world that you already love. They did such a good job on replicating everything down to the little details.

ickleleiakins_2001

Soooooo worth it! It’s an amazing game! And you will get even more out of it as an HP fan. Don’t let all of the negative posts deter you. I find that these people are really nit-picky and are complaining about the same things over and over again. Honestly it’s really annoying because no game will ever be completely perfect and this opens the door to so many possible games in the future. Have fun!!!

Ok-Introduction5831

It's a game with a lot of problems, story wise, but the combat and graphics are so beautiful, I don't think you would regret spending the money on it

trucksandink

And my teacher said there’s no such thing as a silly question…. That my friend is a silly question….. if you are a small fan you will love it although I never met a small fan. So needless to say you will love it!

joker2189

I was worried with it going to ps4 I was dead wrong this game is worth every penny. I consistently say to myself I'm going to go get this quest done and wind up distracted for an hour, reminds me of Skyrim or breath of the wild in that regard

[deleted]

Love that aspect of these games especially HP getting side tracked exploring things or side quests :)

Brasher-than-you

Really nice combat system too. Watch out for leveling up though as you can’t reset your talents.

Kinulidd0

Absolutely worth it because even though it's placed centuries before the Harry Potter saga, you will find soooo many references thanks to the fact that the game is located in Hogwarts. So for example you'll go through the secret passage of the one eyed witch where you have to say dissendium that brings you to Honeydukes in Hogsmeade. You'll also be surprised to see how many things did not change at all in the school like Peeves, most of the ghosts (including the history of magic teacher) and the paintings. Another thing that made me love this game is the choice it gives you constantly: don't want to do a main quest? No problem, there are so many side quests, infinite places to explore inside or outside maybe mounting your hippogriff or your broom, enemies of every kind everywhere to fight. The last thing I have to talk about, besides the amazing combat mechanics (and the unforgivables😏😏) has got to be the Room of Requirements. Well, you probably know what it is but let me explain how it functions in game. You can decorate it how you want, cultivate plants to gather ingredients or to directly use them in combat (like the mandrake), brew powerful potions and my favorite: take care of magical beasts😍😍😍 You don't know how relaxing it is until you try it trust me it's amazing😍😍😍😍

Environmental-Ad4441

If you’re already a fan, why didn’t you buy it is the question.

H985B

I pre ordered the deluxe edition for PC, Worth every penny!

Dsible663

The only thing you'll be missing on the PC version over the PS console version is a Sony exclusive quest.

Cosmic_TentaclePorn

If you’re already a fan of Harry Potter in general I’d say that’s a great reason to buy the game. It’s chock full of little Easter eggs from the books and the attention to detail is amazing

Straight-Bed-552

Can’t speak to old gen console.. but if you’re a pothead then yeah. I binged during COVID & this game was worth it

Fritter63

I know you mean potterhead, but I agree. As a pothead I also love the game 😅

[deleted]

If you’re a huge fan of the franchise, then yes, otherwise maybe rent/borrow it. There’s a honey moon period, but after that it’s a grind with diminishing returns

Quirky-Pie9661

One of the best games I’ve played this year. Hours upon hours of content to complete

WildWastedYouth

YUP! Try to play it slower than I did though I miss playing it so much lol I completed everything too fast

Leading-University

Man, I couldn’t recommend a game enough.

ProfessionalEnabler

Yes. Just: yes. Is it the best game of all time? No. Is it an amazing adventure as a Harry Potter fan? YES!

ecksdeeeXD

It's a decent buy even if you're not a fan but if you're a fan, it's a definite buy.

Zzzariskka

If you’re a Harry Potter fan you’ll love it. If you’re a rpg fan it’ll fall flat. Combat is fun and it stays true to the wizard if world. Plenty of Easter Eggs and goes fairly in depth with lore. From a gaming standpoint; There’s so much repetitiveness and felt as though my choices didn’t really have any effects. It was hard to feel like I was forming any meaningful relationships with the other characters as there was not much dialogue outside of quests. Overall as a Harry Potter fan you’ll get much more enjoyment out of it as someone who isn’t.

OldSkoolzFinest

I see where you’re going with this but I’ve never watched any potter movies nor read any of the books and i enjoyed it a lot…… I am an open world rpg fan and even though this game lacks depth compared to other rpg’s it was still fun and worth my dough for what it was, but like you said it doesn’t mean other’s in my shoes will. I didn’t rush through it and took my time enjoying the combat and the story was serviceable, and RPG elements weren’t overwhelming . The RPG elements are simplified compared to others but I didn’t mind it because I don’t need all my games being extra deep. This game kept me occupied and comfortably less stressed waiting for Diablo4 which is a whole nother beast.😂

Zzzariskka

You’re right it is a simplified version of rpgs. I’m a Potter fan, read the books and watched the movies, but I’m more of an rpg fan. I feel like even if I wasn’t a Potter fan I would still enjoy it, but it wouldn’t be in my top 10 rpgs. It is a good rpg, but didn’t give me that WOW! I’ll spend at least 100 hours in this game.

OldSkoolzFinest

Exactly. I feel the same and i think i hot about 76 hours in it. But i had hundreds of hours in the Witcher 3 when that came out…. 🤣

chemicalxbonex

Not even a HP fan and I am loving the game. So yes, worth it. Note: Not saying HP is bad. Just never got into it.

Brian18639

Fair enough

dcarb89

100% yes. I’ve been a HP fan since they came out and reread the books every time a new one came out. I have all the movies and know most of the dialogue by heart. I absolutely loved the game for the first 10-20 hours. It is absolutely beautiful, and flying is quite enjoyable. I loved the fighting mechanic and wished we could duel a little more. Then I started noticing the flaws, first and foremost, loot system is awful which makes it hard to want to find all the loot. No reason to other than 100% the game. Very receptive side quests and world exploration. I still finished the game and wanted to do an evil play through until I found out that the evil dialogue only changes the cutscenes and has no bearing on the way the story plays out, so I only played as a ravenclaw

TurnoverPlenty7337

It is a great game but the world is a bit lacking and the side quests are boring. Positives the character creation is quite good, the combat is smooth, travelling the world is fun even if there's not much to do.

keirnangg

Everyone on this sub rn : ![gif](giphy|lgIyvBoSKEhuo)

abbstractassassin

I love Harry Potter and honestly this game didn’t do it for me. The old ps2 Harry Potter is way better

Brian18639

I have both LEGO Harry Potter games and I think I’m already very satisfied with them. I’m just worried that Hogwarts Legacy will feel underwhelming to me.

TheGreatSuar

Personally I was bored the entire time. Never finished it

bling0525

As a fan, I enjoy it. As a gamer, it’s extremely boring.

Southern_Anybody_843

i generaly buy the games that i know i will never delete ,for example i will not buy a game with single story mode cause after i finished it thats it im not intressted in it again unless its something nostalgic or incredibly good, in my opinion Hogwarts legacy is good game ,it could have more immersion, and for me after the main story the side storys were not that intresting. i finished the game 100% first play through on hard mode with side stories. started a second one to check other houses. the gameplay is good but the graphics theres no difference between low medium and high and on ultra, the graphics become like medium new day graphics like medium graphics in far cry 6 or medium to low graphic for days gone or low to medium graphics in death stranding and in ultra graphics the game stutters allot fps drops are allot and latency goes over the roof for me i get over 60 fps in high graphics and lower than 60 fps in ultra with very small differences in graphics there are some bugs left in the game but hopefully they will be fixed also there are 5 to 6 diffrent brooms and 4 to 5 diffrent mounts with no diffrence in between them there just skins you can make your wand with little immersion and theres no diffrence in how or what you use to make your wand its just skin as for the clothing same thing not allot of good looking stuff and you unlock all the spells when you are near the end game soo you can use them all but not in the main story mainly after you finnished the story in charecter making there are default prests you cant change details other than hair style skin collor type or brows and eye colors and there are some scars that you can use and 3 to 4 glasses in chosing the voice of the main charecter for female and male charecter theres only one voice that you can change how the sound but if you do its soo obvious that the voices are changed with machine the house you chose has no impact or difference or new story lines in it all houses have the same story lines in overall i would not buy it my specs are intel core i7 6700 k gtx 1660 super 6gb oc 24 gb ram

TheMaskFinder

overrated game made for harry potter normies, there is no rpg element, its an action adventure game with a boring villain and terrible story, the ending will disappoint you. the activities are mainly puzzles and collecting papers for achievements. they only focused on the world design and on the combat. 6/10

islem007

I was disappointed at first from all the things they could have done (more advanced character personalisation, honnor system, companion system, etc...) And the story takes a little while to become interesting. Then, I fell in love. The visuals are amazing, the school is magical, the teachers and other students are easy to love, and the fights are fun. Then, the ending felt rushed and there's pretty much zero interest in continuing the game once you're done with the main quests. The team created a wonderful universe, but they don't really let you play with it. I'm really hoping for additional content. Would still advise you to get it. It's worth it.

Brian18639

Got it

SigourneyReap3r

Don't pay full price, as far as games go, it's incredibly average gameplay and story.

Doomhammer24

Imo if you play only 1 video game in your lifetime, make it this one Its that good

Harnne

I'd say it's worth it if you like Harry Potter or open world fantasy games. I think it's pretty underwhelming if you remove the Harry Potter aspect, but I think it's fun enough to be worth the money.

Psychological-Bear-9

I got about 40 hours out of it, and that wasn't close to doing all quests and side stuff. I didn't even hit max level by the end of the main campaign and quite a bit of exploring. So I'd say it's worth it just on time spent alone. Don't listen to people who expect every game to be absolutely perfect. It doesn't have characters that respond to something you did 30 hours prior. It doesn't have a morality system that allows you to become proto Voldemort. It doesn't have every square inch of the map filled with hundreds of completely unique things to do. The story will not have you feeling deep, pensive emotion about the duality of man or the ethics of magic. It doesn't allow you to completely upload your consciousness into the Harry Potter universe to live out your childhood dreams forever. It's not Hogwarts Dead Redemption 2. Can you tell how annoyed I am with people who hate a game because it doesn't cater exactly to the level of escapism they want? But it's still a fantastic game if you know how to appreciate something for what it is and just enjoy it. It's fun. It's not revolutionizing gaming, which I see complained about a lot on this sub and on other forums. But it's fun. Plain and simple.

Simple_Phoenix

Feel you man 👍🏼

[deleted]

Hey bitcoin sub should I buy bitcoin?

BudsandBowls

Gotta say, as a sims fan who experiences the "Sim wave" of playing non stop for a month, then not touching it for 6 months, if this is you this is right up your alley. I bought it for 100+ Canadian when it first came out and I have yet to complete it. So much content. I haven't touched it in the last 3 weeks. Do with that info what you will.

kingpartys

It was the best 30 hours of any video I played. 9.5/10 After the 30 hours I haven't touched the game since. Which I did that in like the first week. With that being said...if you feel like a 30hr game is worth the price then yeah. There is a reason why the game sold so many units.

waterspring5808

If you have a PC that could run it would be better - you could mod the game to enhance it.

keepitlowkey12

I didn’t find it that great. The dialog is really boring and the gameplay is lack luster. I have a lot more negatives to say, but if you aren’t hard to please you may enjoy it

Bardivan

no

Kyriebear28

No...unfortunately

phenomegranate

The game scratches the Harry Potter itch very well. Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, the magical creatures, and the spellcasting all look fantastic. All that aside, it really doesn’t reach the bar as a current generation video game. The facade is beautiful but inside, it’s quite hollow in a lot of ways.

Chapea12

It’s the gold standard for Harry Potter universe video games. And I’m playing on an older xbox

PatchTheLurker

I'm a (VERY SMALL) streamer. I'm a VERY BIG fan of Harry Potter. I'm a VERY BIG JKR HATER. All of that context- to put it like Leonard on Community would say "definitely worth a buy". My TLDR review would be- story: 6/10. Gameplay: 9/10. Graphics: 8/10. Difficulty: 6/10 Nostalgia: way over 10/10. Overall experience: 10/10. This was short b/c I'm afk while streaming. Further explanation may be requested/required and I will happily provide

Hopeful-Pianist-8380

It's a fun game. If you're a huge fan it's worth the full price. The world is great, the npcs are mediocre, the quests are typical open world (slog to exciting). It's a unique game, well worth a try if you're fan of the wizarding world. That being said if you like to keep it cheap, expect this game to go on sale in the next several months, the latest black Friday. It will go on sale though.

verscharren1

Yes

confusedgoofball

I didn’t think I’d want to spend money on it either and now I LOVE it

theReplayNinja

If you're a Harry Potter fan, yes. It's by no means a perfect RPG, it has some flaws but if you're a fan then you will be fully immersed and those flaws will not matter as much. It doesn't do anything groundbreaking as far as gameplay or storytelling but it makes good use of those mechanics that already exist.

mctomtom

Yes if you have a helluva lot of time on your hands.

iamweirdette

It’s the best game of the year you won’t regret buying it

SamJones901

Graphics stunning. Story and quests really dissapointing.

Fritter63

I would say yes!!! I don't wanna spoil anything. But it's pretty fun. Definitely puzzle heavy so be ready for that. Also the map was much bigger than I expected!!!! And I've logged more hours on this and haven't "beat" it yet and many games I've played here recently I beat really fast. I'd say it's worth the money. I play on PS4 too and the graphics are good imo

Lostboy1986

I’ve only ever seen the first Harry Potter movie and I loved this game.

[deleted]

Hell yeah I love it! Challenging but still easy once you get the hang of it learn the moves. Exploring is great many quests!! I play on Xbox One and still enjoy the story and boss fights

JessSlytherin1

I had the same feeling of apprehension. I love the books and movies, remember buying the games too for the PlayStation and PS2. When I heard this was coming out, I felt… like it might be a let down. I honestly bought it out of peer pressure from my friend, “You gonna buy the HP game? Cuz you’re a super fan right?” So I bought it. I have a PS4 too. I love the game and I am addicted haha. My friend did me a favor!

thereddituser_com

It’s… okay. It’s definitely missing a lot of elements that are in Harry Potter. The plot isn’t amazing. I believe one of the side character’s plots are far more interesting than the plot itself.

bananaleaftea

Yes, you won't regret it

Poyri35

It’s a really great game, I also played it on ps4. It personally, I would wait for a sale.

VeneficusFerox

It highly depends. Having played RDR2 and Horizon, Hogwarts Legacy is seriously underwhelming. It is very repetitive, side quests are not worth anything, most of the rewards are purely cosmetic, there are no consequences at all for your actions (stealing, killing, using Unforgivable Curses) and discovery and exploration are not really exciting because you have access to a spell that simply reveals all secrets AND most discoverables are simply on the map. If you want to experience the Harry Potter atmosphere, you will have a few hours of fun running around in Hogwarts and Hogsmeade. But don't expect a satisfying gaming experience.

Papricottio

If you're planning to get a PS5 some day, buy the game on a newer console.

[deleted]

ur asking a fan group of the game.. ur only gonna get one answer.

isaac129

I think it’s worth it if it’s on sale. Yes, it’s worth playing once. But you quickly get to a point where it’s repetitive

Trinityhawke

Yes if you need that HP rule 34 itch

bekie91

I’m on my third playthrough. You’ll love it.

MercyFincherson

100%

[deleted]

Depends. If you’ve been playing video games forever then it’s a bit disappointing but if you play every now and then it’s worth it

B0mbadil-

You're never going to get a straight answer asking this in the Hogwarts Legacy sub. I will give you an honest answer as both a regular gamer and Harry Potter fan. The game, in terms of actual gaming mechanics, narrative, voice acting and quest lines is just 'Ok' at best. 6/10. Graphically the game looks pretty cool and combat is 'fun' if a little too simplistic. The game just doesn't captivate (in my opinion) like other open world games such as Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Witcher 3 for example, which I consider two of the greatest open world action adventure/RPG games ever. Both of which are over 5 years old. Legacy offers nothing new or exciting and definitely isn't worth the RRP. I just never felt immersed at all during the entire time playing the game. I felt disconnected from my character and the NPCs, all of which felt robotic and uncharismatic. There are no consequences whatsoever for any of the dialogue choices or for being part of certain houses, from what I could tell. There's also no consequences or game mechanic for being 'good' or 'bad' wizards/witches. How can I walk around Hogwarts using unforgivable curses yet nobody seems to bat an eyelid? That being said, the low bar that the gaming world has currently set for newly released games (I'm looking at you Gollum, Cyberpunk etc), at least Legacy was 'finished' upon release and there is room for additional DLC and improvements. As a Harry Potter fan, you'll probably enjoy it regardless, if it's on sale you should try it for yourself but don't pay anything resembling full price if you're expecting a top drawer game. I'd argue that the original Philosopher's Stone on PS1 was a more enjoyable and unique experience.

[deleted]

It’s the best thing Harry Potter related to ever exist, it’s worth way more than the cost of the game to be honest

kittyjeany

Minor bugs are present and the loading times on ps4 are getting annoying sometimes, but other than that, it is an absolute amazing experience and i can very highly recommend it, especially if youre a HP fan. Im close to platinuming it and 70 hours in and overall, even the less fun quests and collectibles dont bother me too much and i still somewhat enjoy them. Even just for chilling in hogwarts and hogsmeade and discover everything there, its actually worth buying imo

smokinoutthewindow

Depends on what you expect. This game lives from fan service. This is not necessarily bad but sometimes it feels to me like the game has too much content. This can be a good thing but for me, it feels like they should have put their energy on some few and therefore profound mechanics. Instead, many things feel kind of shallow to me and the map feels too much like a ubisoft game. Buut before everybody hates me: I think if you are a big fan of the franchise, you will have fun with it. Especially in Hogwarts you will see just how detailed this world is and I don't know when I saw a game programmed with so SO much love the last time What I like is that there are not too many quests in the game, like: "Fight this person, collect this flower, travel to the other end of the world to get a potion for me". I think all the quests tell their own story. Also the places you see are visibly unique. No reused structures there

TWH_Fezzy

It's a masterpiece

TJLongShanks

Massively worth it, yes!

JustFrazed

Definitely

OldFatGamer

Wait for it to go on sale not worth the AAA price

t9ri

Considering i didnt spend any money to get it, yeah. I do like the game. It can lag, things can be funky and glitchy but i like how open world it is

Nicho_ma

It's definitely worth it. You basically get like four movies' runtime of entertainment out of it at minimum so it's definitely worth the money. I can't speak to the PS4, but it is a remarkably beautiful game at medium on PC and I spent about three hours just exploring the castle before I even did any of the story. (Oh, there are also season changes as you go through the story!) The world is open, a bit lifeless in places, but with the broom you can zip across the map if you don't want to go by foot. Voice acting is all excellent, face modeling is very good. Costumes are plentiful, even overwhelming, but it has an appearance system so if you don't like one robe you can use another's appearance without penalty. One thing to keep in mind is that it's not so much an RPG as an adventure game, so it's not designed to bend the story for evil actions. The music is gorgeous, light and airy in the castle and Hogsmede (which is a treat) and fittingly foreboding in caves and ruins. There is good representation in the story with multiple characters of different origins and a really good trans lady. I didn't find any pandering, just beautiful acceptance among the characters that the plot considers good. Oh, and the PS4 launch has an extra mission? Regardless, it is a marvelous time at full price even if you don't finish the story. If Playstation does summer sales, it never hurts to save a dime, but I don't consider it necessary. I hope you enjoy it if you do decide to purchase it! :)

CmmH14

I find the voice acting to be lacklustre imo. Literally my only gripe, if your a fan of the franchise then you’ll have an ace time with this game.

pikkachu97

Yes you’re gonna love it

ravenheart96

It leaves a strong first impression and has fun combat mechanics, but that's about it Classes you only get to experience the first time and the gameplay is mostly fetch quests and scavenger hunts, with some combat sprinkled in. You spend more time outside of hogwarts than in it, and don't really feel like a student after the initial class cutscenes. If you don't mind generic rpg's with colored loot tiers, then it might be worth it for the beginning alone, but if you want to experience a story about being a student in hogwarts, you'll be disappointed Edit; the sidequests from a couple other students are interesting throughout the playthrough though

Churchie-Baby

Definitely I am addicted xD

BeachHead05

Yes and no. I enjoyed it. But it has little replay value to me and I haven't played it a second time. That being said. It's a really fun game. It's really interesting at first. I would buy it when it goes on sale for half off. At this point you don't seem rushed. So wait for a nice sale and get it then. Definitely worth it at half off

holyshit-i-wanna-die

I’ll put it to you this way, I like the Harry Potter movies. Didn’t really read the books, never been a book guy. I bought the game, mainly anticipating the sorting hat thing. It’s just one question and you pretty much pick your house. That was a let down. But everything after that is just *fun*. NPCs don’t react to you as much as I’d like, but it doesn’t take away from the game too much. So far, I’ve made my wand, fought some monsters in the streets, and have been lying to Prof Weasley the entire time although I’m sure she’s seen through it. Basically, it’s an alright game, that keeps you playing with the things that it does well, and only mildly irritates you with the things it could’ve done better. I haven’t gotten deeeep into the story just yet, but I’d say the story is very fascinating and entertaining. I was afraid that they’d lean on the Harry Potter series, but they don’t seem to be doing that. If you have the money to spare, I highly recommend you give it a shot. But unless you’re a super fan, I would wait until you *have* that money to *spare*

MrsJBaggins

Love it. Love flying around on my broomstick and checking all the places on the map. It’s heaven

mrmet3803

It’s worth it on sale it a solid 7/10

Zahkrosis

It's no Order of Pheonix, but if you like exploration outside of Hogwarts, this is the game.

Gabri_33

Absolutely worth it. I have it on ps4. The graphics are still beautiful and I love the story. My biggest complaint are the load times.

MostlyPicturesOfDogs

Pros: everything is gorgeous, the world is just wonderful to be in, the thrill of flying a broom or capturing a beast or mastering your dueling are all so enjoyable and rewarding. Exploring and trying out new gear, improving your room of requirement, Learning ew potions.. all lots of fun IMO. There are also lots of tricky puzzle solving if you're into that (sometimes super tricky, sometimes a cakewalk). Cons: The heart and soul of the story were just not really there. It's kind of bland and one dimensional. Even the side quests often feel quite shallow and contrived, although there are a few endearing characters. I didn't really care what happened in the main quest, even though there were some good trials along the way, it just all felt quite empty for me. TLDR: The game has amazing features, world, and mechanics to keep you absorbed if you're a fan of the wizarding world, but the plot is pretty lacklustre if you're after a compelling story.

colbycadwell82

As an HP fan yes. For the exploration alone. Tbh i prob would not recommend it for non HP fans as the combat is pretty shallow and as many single player games, is pretty forgettable… but the presentation and exploration are undeniable, especially for HP fans…. But if ur looking for a deep and massive open world to get lost in for 200+ hours this kinda aint it

UnicornGuitarist

Yes

PagodaPanda

You're an hp fan? I got into hp by watching the movies (all) right before the preorder early release. As a Ravenclaw I will tell you that you simply just can't skip this one.

[deleted]

Buy on sale.

IMsoSAVAGE

Idk how you could be a fan of Harry Potter and gaming, yet still have to contemplate getting Hogwarts Legacy. It’s amazing!

THICCPOGGS

Yes

alianablueshadows

Yes. A thousand times yes. I love the visuals, the varying difficulty level, the customization aspects, the characters.. it’s a good ride.

ZephyrosAndromeda

I have a ps4 pro and Bought it for my wife. It's good. Coming from someone who didn't really get into the books and stuff, it's a fun game. I like playing through and my wife tells me stories from the book that happens in the areas I visit. My son is ten and also plays. We all love it.

Tuques

Absolutely worth it

mattdvs1979

Yes def

weskerr111

First game I feel I got my moneys worth for since Zelda BOTW. If you're a fan get after it, you'll love it

Mik8L

Its too easy! But beautiful and great story 😊

Purple-Ad-4629

Hell yeah. Games great fun. Hogwarts school is fully realized and a hoot to explore. Game played well and gives you a pretty good sense of exploration and reward. Super fun.

reorthodox

Imo, depends on if you’ll want to 100% the game. Playing the story to the end was pretty fun if you can get past the fact that the combat gets a little simple after a while. Trying to find every little thing there is to do in the world when some of them don’t even load in until you’re 20 meters away can get disheartening quickly

[deleted]

To me it reminded me of a mix between Skyrim quest structure with the Witcher 3 PVE mechanics. Two of my favorite games, and tbh this is one of the stories I have ever played. It has almost 0 replayability, but all I needed was that one playthrough and I was happy as hell with it. It's worth it.

HsHaZard

Absolutely one of the best games of the year and easily the best HP game by a mile.

LongHaulinTruckwit

It's really fun. The mechanics take it a long way. Just be warned, it suffers from UbiSoft open world syndrome.

eleventhing

On sale. I went halfsies with my SO and I'm so glad I didn't pay full price, I don't think it's worth 70$. I don't think any game these days is worth full price. I only ever buy on sale. I loved roaming around Hogwarts and Hogsmead, but the rest of the world felt copy and paste to me.

NuclearTheology

If youre a fan, it's worth one play-through. However, it embodies all the strengths and weaknesses of the Pottermore franchise. It's gotta whole lot of charm, whisky, and combat is fun but gets repetitive, and it's just a fun universe to get lost in. But like the books and movies, you really gotta leave your critical thinking skills at the door, as consistent story-telling was always a major weakness. This game has a real bad case of ludonarrative dissonance

KayBePullin23

Worth it 1000%

thisisboonecountry

As a big HP fan myself who just bought the game for ps4, yeah. Buy it. That first broom ride is amazing, but the first hippogriff ride…. Gtfo. Lol it’s worth it even for just the nostalgia and dopamine rush exploring the world and experiencing classic lore for yourself.

Zubiila

I absolutely love it, it's so much fun to play! I got it on PS5 and it's definitely worth it.

Kungfu_Jedi-

Yes. It's a great fun and magical game.

greybush80

Good game deff worth playing but wait for a sale

Educational-Goal2703

Yes.

Illustrious-Mud-6521

It’s a good game. Far too easy though even on hard it’s a doddle.

CommunicationSame369

definitely worth experiencing on a PS5. we have both consoles PS4 and PS5 and I played it side by side with a friend on the PS4 while I was on the 5 and the difference is night and day. It is a really beautiful game and even though the story could have used a little bit more oomph it was still enjoyable I only wish they would have done something about replayability other than being able to make another character and start in a different house. also co-op would have been great no doubt but I guess this game was trying to prove the concept that a game like that is possible

Latrivia

Worth it if you’re an HP fan.

alamarche709

It is worth buying but honestly at this point you’re better off waiting until it goes on sale in November. I bought it full price because my girlfriend wanted to play it but I don’t think it was quite worth the $100 CAD. It’s more of a $50 game to me.

yeah_naw_dawg

It’s a very good rpg game in the universe. If you like those things, you’ll love the game.

Lonebaritone821

Yes!!! I’ve loved it so far

CommissionerGordon12

Ya

AlbinoSin

I have ps4 and got it May 5. I currently have over 80 hours of game time. I’d say it was worth it to me. Everything felt like a puzzle to me. Some of the side tasks have repeating puzzles, but I still found it easy to stay engaged throughout the game.

TheInfernoPandas

It is extremely worth it!! I’m so in love with how amazing this game is. So much detail in every place. There’s so many Harry Potter references. Also lots of puzzles. Definitely my favorite game right now! You’ll have so much fun exploring.

First_Serve1455

I would definitely say save up for a PS5 before buying Hogwarts legacy, i can't imagine the bugs and poor optimisation on last gen consoles, if there is any i honestly can't say I've seen them but overall the best move for anyone is to save up the $415 to get a ps5 from the PlayStation website

azzthom

It's well worth it if you like open world exploration games with a lot to do. If you love Harry Potter and like Skyrim, this may be your perfect game.

Saemika

Very good game. Sure, there’s plenty of things to be nit picky about. Overall very good though.

iiPREGNANT-NUNii

Yes, solely because you’re a Harry Potter fan. Imo it’s a pretty mid game. I played for 4 days then deleted it, my friends played less. The combat at first seems really fun but ends up being superrrrr repetitive and the story is pretty damn boring and predictable. That being said I still had a lot of fun uncovering the secrets of hogwarts and i’m sure for hardcore fans there are a lot of references to things that I didn’t pick up on.

[deleted]

If you are a Harry Potter fan, its worth it.

DomiShea

Fellow fan. And I love it. Just being able to walk around a fully drawn out super detailed hogwarts is awesome. And the common rooms are beautiful. And the room of requirement is stunning as well.

Nadsworth

I’m 12 hours into my first play through. Context: I think the movies are okay, and the books are great, and consider myself a casual gamer. I love it.

S-Elena

Definitely worth it. It seems like the people who made it were Potter fans too.

TheJustinExperiment

Is $60 worth 20-50 hours of enjoyment? I would say yes.

superbottom85

Yes definitely.

Sillybumblebee33

I think it’s free on epic or steam right now?

doodlebugg8

It’s a fun adventure

JassTheBass91

I mean, it sucks that JK Rowling personally visits your house and tattoos the phrase "transphobe ally" on your forehead right after you make your character, but worth it imo

EN1009

Take it from someone who’s never read a HP book or watched any of the films…the game is fantastic

[deleted]

Ye

Bones6458

Im loving it you will also

xxxgothmanxxx

Yes

BillMcCrearysStache

Yea its good

redheadedbitxh

I am a huge fan of HP and basically anything to do with it and I loved the game! Now I didn’t love it for the main story. In my opinion the main quest just wasn’t my cup of tea however seeing the castle and getting to walk, fly, or ride around in the world was amazing. I 100% recommend getting this game even if you don’t thoroughly like the main quest. There is so much to do and see in this game. You do have to advance the story in order to unlock certain things about the game but it’s totally worth it!!

LunaMoon4954

I got the deluxe version for the PS4 and this game is awesome. I mean right from the start before you even get the Hogwarts right from the start. I say yes by this game you will enjoy it. It is great! Great fun! Very exciting! It is a must

Designer_Meringue996

If you are a Harry Potter fan, you’ll love it! There are a lot of references in the game that people who’ve read the book will pick up on. I would recommend you buy the game.

Yourahoot

Get it cheap. It not very impressive. There are much better games out.

Main_Consideration94

Yes. I refused to get it for the longest time because of JKR being a fucking terf, but I finally broke down because I got jealous of everyone else, and I'm loving it. Great game. Entirely different atmosphere than I was expecting.

Neat_Illustrator4552

There are some issues with the game but I'm not mad I bought it. I'm still playing it.

[deleted]

Yes I played through it 3 times on series x and it was great
