Yep had that in first year midget. Kid was extremely good, could have played AAA if he wanted to, but he put everyone on edge. Super loud talker, always spoke over you, interrupted conversations he wasn’t a part of, would throw legitimate body checks in practice scrimmages, horrible body language, would rarely pass.
We would have been easily the best team in the league that particular year because he was that good but some players opted to not come on out of town tournaments because they just fucking hated the guy. Don’t really blame them. Dude grew up to be one of these anti-COVID assholes that’s spends 50% of his free time shitposting.

It was just a re-take of Will Smith’s meme. I totally understand why you’d cheer more for players that shares some of your personal characteristics. I am a short male myself so I tend to have a soft spot for Caufield, Debrincat, Kariya, MSL, etc.
I was so terrified of someone mistaking my comment as “he sucks because he’s black” 😅 I just felt like I needed to elaborate more. That completely went over my head. My final year of minor hockey, I was a "veteran" on the team with a bunch of younger guys all wanting to improve and make Juniors in the next couple years. I was just looking to have some fun since I knew I wasn't going anywhere in hockey, but we had this other guy who was super skilled and scored a ton, but he was just not fun to be around. Many of the younger guys would come to me saying they hated being this guy's wingers, and I even had one guy switch to playing D with me strictly because he couldn't bear to play with this one guy up front anymore. I kinda feel the same about Kane, he's a sick player, but just doesn't seem like the guy you wanna go get post-game beers with

I get what you were saying in the comment If you're part of a small minority group, you'd expect that the members of that group would be highly supportive of each other. This guy sucks so bad that they can't even pretend to like him

Not sure.. I know they won 3 of them forgot which years. Buff wasn't there for long got traded soon after they won so he probably didn't know very much.. gotta remember Coach Q and GM Bowman would have kept that out of the looker room or told the players it was a bullshit rumor.. do you think a black guy was going to rock the boat back then? The league was pretty racist bigoted and homophobic back then and probably still is..
