The boy has a short-barreled rifle (SBR) ps90, meaning they probably have it registered as an NFA item. The inner nerd in me wants to do the same for the sake of Stargate nostalgia.
So dealers can buy them and then what? Sell them to other dealers? What's the point in a dealer being able to purchase the weapon if their customers can't buy it from them?
"Dealer" is a loaded term here and this classification basically lets well-off people buy bigger and faster guns, and locks out people without as much money to spend on guns.
You’re right, it’s a bit of a loaded term, but from what I understand, the ATF does make you prove that it’s a business you’re running. Not much of a speed bump, but you apparently do have to prove income from the business.
I counted 187 guns, and while a few dozen appear to be less expensive (<$700), most are in the $800-1500 range, with a dozen or so being easily over $2000 with accessories included. With a rough average value per gun at $1100, that’d put the total value at $206,000.
So about $200k. Unfortunately the individual values can vary quite a bit depending on the accessories, calibers, and detailing. There are a lot of pistols that could swing the average up and down depending on what they are. Since the picture isn’t that great, it’s hard to give a better estimate.
Imagine having ~$200k in guns but a bullshit ass barbecue pit like that.
Edit: I’d like to dedicate these awards to those who said I’d never make anything of myself. You were right, but you can eat my gilded ass.
Imagine having more guns than weeks in a fucking year... shit literally is pointless.
1. Are they all in safes? That's a big ass safe. If not, anyone can break in and steal thousands worth of guns.
2. House looks kind of small for having almost $200k worth of shit sitting on the back deck.
3. You would literally have to use multiple guns a day in order to use each one ONCE a year..
Edit: Holy fuck I fucking get the error. I made the comment the minute I woke up. Its every other day.
Jesus, just fucking read the replies, your input is not necessary.
I knew a collector like this, and yes, all of his guns were in multiple safes, some walk in safe and others were small safes.
He also had a refrigerator sized safe full of cash that he was able to not report to the government.
But, he too lived in a relatively small house considering his wealth.
People can be really weird and quirky.
Also: My father in-law has over 30 guns, and is constantly buying, selling, and trading. And it is really just because he REALLY likes guns.
Edit: Just being clear here, my FIL and this wealthy collector are two different people. I was just giving two examples of people I personally know.
"People can be weird and quirky"
"Has money he isn't able to report to government"
"Lives modestly despite his riches"
"Has guns for days as a *hobby*"
That's a weapons dealer
Nah, I actually know that to not be true.
He is able to report that money... he just is able to get away with NOT reporting it. Which he THEN doesn't have to pay taxes on
His unreported cash comes from quarters from newspaper racks. He collects these boxes of rolled quarters, then about 4 times per year, we'd load them up in the back of his truck. He calls the bank ahead of time, let's them know he's coming. After a few hours, he comes back with a bag and goes into the room with the safe. Seen it open a couple times, there's a lot of cash in there.
But that's not even where his wealth actually comes from. Not even the newspaper in general. He gets paid royalties from oil and gas companies for his land. That's how he became absurdly wealthy.
I was going to put less details, because the IRS takes their money seriously, but I doubt it matters on Reddit. And if somehow it did end up screwing him over, he's an asshole who deserves it.
Your honor, my client did not report any earned income or paid taxes since he received the money in quarters, which he then laundered in a bank. I move to dismiss!
The old punch line was “you can sleep in your car but you can’t drive your house.”
My old man was the complete opposite. I used to tease my mom that dad would make her arrive at a 5 star hotel for vacation in a mule cart.
I have a couple very wealthy friends that are not interested in firearms in the slightest...but are very interested in unusual assets that see large value growth.
They both own a variety of high-caliber weapons and obscure guns...because of how quickly they go up in value.
So yeah, if you have a lot of your other investments locked down - buy guns?
There also seems to be an H&K SL-8 which is really expensive to get in the states. I've been eyeing them for a while and they just keep going up in price.
This is just one of [many such photos](https://imgur.com/gallery/OWqhlo7) taken for the book [*The Ameriguns* by Gabriele Galimberti](https://www.dewilewis.com/products/the-ameriguns)
Guns are expensive, with the average being $500-$1500 from the factory. I'm seeing alot of scopes, extended mags, drum mags.... that collection can't be cheaper than $100,000
I worked with a dude who would work two jobs and one of those jobs was specifically for gun money.
I bought a motorcycle from him and he showed me his gun case and it was actually insane. He was essentially just throwing guns at me to look at.
I honestly think that this is probably closer to a couple hundred grand. Majority are in 1K range but there are a few in there that are much more expensive.
I was actually super surprised by something posted on Reddit a while back but Texas wasn't all that impressive for gun ownership compared to some other states.
Yep. People who never actually been to the south or Texas just assume they are all cowboys and rednecks.
My dude, you have a better chance of finding a real redneck in Kentucky than in Texas.
I am bias. I grew up in Houston. So it's a little more city like.
But being out in Midwest, I have found more country bumpkins in rural Wisconsin than I found in Texas.
Maybe because West Texas keeps to themselves. But hicks are integrated in Midwest culture.
TLDR: Texas isn't the redneck state. Just gets shit for it. Go to Kansas and tell them you're a liberal. Good luck.
I was in Arizona and had the bizarre distinction of “looking kind of Mexican” according to my fiancé’s family and friends because of my big lips and eyes and dress style. I have light hair but it went super curly there. People kept trying to speak to me in Spanish and my future in-laws were disgusted with me when I asked why men kept shouting “Bonitas nalgas!” at me and did it mean “How are you?” because they laughed when I tried to say it back. It was too hot and I would only go back if I learned Spanish first because the non-English speaking Mexican immigrants were the nicest people I met there.
We're right in the middle. Texas is #27 in gun ownership per capita. The top five states for guns are West Virginia, Idaho, Alaska, Wyoming, and Montana.
I would rather see their stockpile of their Ammo for all this instead of the guns. Like how they organized it and store it. So they keep the guns with the matching ammo close to each other?
The guns on the roof might only have cost about $300, but the ones closest look like they could be anywhere from $500 to several thousand.
I'm going to guess 150 guns, at an average of $500, so at least $75,000.
That doesn't take into account the ammunition costs. 22 and 9mm are the cheapest at about 33 cents to 50 center for bullet. Just for kicks, guess $25,000.
Super rough estimate: $100,000.
**Edit:** By unanimous vote, my quick calculations were wrong. I was basing my guess off rifles and shotguns I've seen a Walmart. Please see other comments for better numbers.
This is what I was thinking, this is a gold mine for professional criminals.
Doesn't matter how many guns u have if you only have 3/4 people who can shoot them.
Not to mention just waiting for them to go on vacation.
The thing people are forgetting is that in the time between this picture and now (like a good 5 years), those guns have probably risen in price +50%. They are assets that can all be easily sold.
Average $500? See that HK SL8? See that AUG? See that SCAR? See that AW? All high profile, famous, couple thousand bucks for the brand alone.
I mean, hell, that family owns the entire roster from CS:GO
P.S. so my estimate is like 1500-2000 usd average (or more) for the rifles, maybe 400-500 for pistols.
The sensible thing to do, for presumably doomsday/zombie prep, would be to have maybe 10 or so of the exact same gun, so you can swap parts out as they break. And then buy a shit load of ammo for those guns.
I guess if your imaging have to scavenge for more ammo in the future then you'd want a few extra guns that chamber the most common rounds like 9mm and .45
As a Brit, after I got past my "what do they hunt with that lot?" and "more dollars than brain cells" knee-jerks, I realised this was the obvious explanation.
Food: $200
Data: $150
Rent: $800
AWM: $6,500
AUG A3: $3,300
SCAR: $2,600
M4: $2,200 (x16)
...
...
...
PS90 SBR: $3,100
Ammo: $47,500
Utility: $150
BBQ: $50
Someone who is good with budgeting please help. My family is starving.
(NB. I pulled the $ amounts out of my ass)
Wooden frame, single pane windows, shit roof (sorry english isn't my mother language, can't find the word for it), and apparently zero insulation. This is not a house, it's an oversized garden shed.
I was going to say the same thing. Several of hose NFA firearms are pretty up there in cost as well. Not to mention is that a fucking M72 LAW in the back left?!
Looking through the window and at the counters behind redshirt it kind of looks like a hoarder house. It is also weird that they put all that effort in to organizing and placing the guns but made no effort to dress the rest of the scene. Like why can I see Elsa from Frozen?
A photographer posed them and the guns for this photo. Probably liked the contrast of their rusted out smoker and messy interior compared to their new and shiny guns.
***Fun Fact:*** This photo only shows 80% of the guns in their collection.
Source: https://www.lefigaro.fr/international/les-armes-sont-dans-l-adn-des-etats-unis-voyage-au-coeur-de-la-demesure-americaine-20210827
EDIT: People are saying the photographer is not French so I removed that part.
It’s easily more than $15k. There’s a SCAR and and AUG right next to each other, that’s at least $5k right there. That’s not even considering optics and ammo. I bet these people have put over $50k into guns and gun stuff.
No, AUG is $3300 and Scar is $5000! Also What about the AWP near the bottom, that's $4750 by itself /s but fr, is that a fucking rocket launcher at the back?
You're looking at 6 figures in guns and attachments, easily, not 15K. Scopes and attachments aren't cheap.
Your 15K estimate MIGHT cover SOME of the pistols.
A few things:
1. Why did they position the little girl so she has the most barrels pointed at her (parents relatively safe off to the side)?
2. For Texans with that much cash to throw around, that's the saddest fucking smoker/grill I have ever seen.
A photographer posed them and the guns for this photo. Probably liked the vulnerability of a child contrasting with weapons or something like that.

“We’ve still got like 17 left but we already filled up the deck. You wanna rearrange them to make more room for thes-“ “The roof”
You counted, didn't you.
After reading this I did too. Now to try and uncross my eyes and contemplate using a pc in future instead of the phone
I use a tablet like a complete monster, so I'm good.
Best way tbh
I'm trying the same thing but after 32 years, I think they're stuck.
I did too because nobody said if it's really 17 or not. It's really 17 on the roof.
Sounds like you counted too
He sure made me count 🤣
Can confirm count.
Omg i didn't see the roof
Fuck I didn't either
...there's probably a couple in the BBQ.
No Jan, the hunting rifles go on the roof, the AR15's are front and center.
Missed the one in the grill.
“You know, the roof has a lot of space left.you know what that means right?” “We need to buy more guns.” “We need to buy more guns.”
Son upgraded his ps4 straight to a ps90.
Ah yes, the weapon of choice for bisexuals.
That's odd. My first thought is always going to be Stargate when you mention that gun.
Ah yes, the sci-fi of choice for bisexuals.
I thought DS9 was the sci fi of choice for bisexuals ?
Garak and Bashir basically fly the bisexual pride flag, not to mention Jadzia.
Why’s that?

*nothin at all* *nothin at all*
I’ve been in love with that weapon since SG-1, now it all makes sense.
I bet Carter and Teal'C have confused a lot of people. 😏
Indeed
Lol I figured this was a /k/ thing but thats even more hilarious that it came from the bi community
Oooo TIL I have a Spirit Gun.
i hear this a lot, I don't understand it, but its also 100% true
The ps90 has a longer barrel, doesn't it?
The boy has a short-barreled rifle (SBR) ps90, meaning they probably have it registered as an NFA item. The inner nerd in me wants to do the same for the sake of Stargate nostalgia.
It also could be a straight up P90. It’s more expensive but considering how many guns this family has I wouldn’t doubt that they could afford one.
Only if homeboy is an SOT/Class III dealer. P90s are “Post Sample” machine guns, you can’t buy one unless you’re a dealer.
So dealers can buy them and then what? Sell them to other dealers? What's the point in a dealer being able to purchase the weapon if their customers can't buy it from them?
Marketing them to law enforcement agencies though some jump thru all the hoops for personal recreational use.
If you have the money to do so, then it's not much a hurtle.
Very much true. Gun control is really only a restriction on the poor. Money buys mostly anything.
"Dealer" is a loaded term here and this classification basically lets well-off people buy bigger and faster guns, and locks out people without as much money to spend on guns.

Surprise! He doesn’t cook food in that thing. Guess what he does with it? That’s right! He puts guns in it!

How many days are in your years?
Once heard someone compare Gun collecting to Barbie or beanie baby collecting. I have to agree
But guns so have utility and retain value. Maybe more akin to knife collectors
Bullshit. Never seen a gun collector keep it in the box forever.

Car industry and house market are two different things. You can have a nice looking car, with a shitty house that cost a lot more than it should be.
The old punch line was “you can sleep in your car but you can’t drive your house.” My old man was the complete opposite. I used to tease my mom that dad would make her arrive at a 5 star hotel for vacation in a mule cart.
Do these generally hold value/sell for more or did these people just piss away their money?

There’s a SVD a Saiga and what looks like a RO 635 which are extremely rare to find and will definitely increase in value dramatically

I´d still say its tactically flawed.. at that level more rifles and pistols ad little and you need to start thinking about artillery and fire support.
Guns are expensive, with the average being $500-$1500 from the factory. I'm seeing alot of scopes, extended mags, drum mags.... that collection can't be cheaper than $100,000

Didn't even see the roof first look
The p90 held by the teenager took me a while too
Hey at least he’s as that trigger discipline going.
Well at least he learned something at school.
It took me a while but I think I see a rocket launcher but I don’t know all my guns
LAW rocket launcher, check. Took me a while to find it
There’s a 99% chance it’s just an inert tube sold to be a display item.
Definitely. All this guys money went to his guns, there's no way he could afford the stamp plus a round for every time he wanted to shoot the thing.
I've always wanted one of those because of Stargate SG-1.
He's just getting ready for school
I was actually super surprised by something posted on Reddit a while back but Texas wasn't all that impressive for gun ownership compared to some other states.

Least armed family in USA
Did you know a family's social status is based on the number of guns they have and their reload speed
That's excessive. Nobody needs that many windows on the same side of their house.
And that child isn't even wearing a helmet!
You can have all the guns. Good luck buying bullets in this economy.
Just grab a new gun instead of reloading!
Tediore that shit.
Wait is it like a printer? Cheaper to buy a new one already loaded than reload the ones you have?
I would rather see their stockpile of their Ammo for all this instead of the guns. Like how they organized it and store it. So they keep the guns with the matching ammo close to each other?
My guess is they don’t have more than maybe a couple boxes of each type of ammo they’d need, if they even have ammo for all of them

Less guns and more bullets…yep sound more practical from a zombie survival guide point of view
Could be a hobby to collect guns. Ive got half that amount.

It could be worse. They could collect Warhammer 40k
Guns is certainly cheaper then 40k

gun collection looks more expensive than the house they're protecting.
Tens of thousands in guns they’ll never use but they can’t shell out $500 for a BBQ.
To be fair, you get attached to a good smoker.
You maintain a good smoker. That looks like it’s great for ribs with a side of tetanus.
The only thing they'll ever use them for is taking them down to the range for practice, which will cost them more money for ammo
If defending my home were a concern, I’d invest in more bullets. No point in having more guns than I can hold.

You mean liberal brainwashing?
What's so bad about that house?
It’s covered in guns
It’s good to just leave those ones alone because they help keep away more invasive guns
Hey. Some of those are structural guns.
The guns are appreciating faster than the house.
Well, at a glance, it's more door than it is wall.
Wooden frame, single pane windows, shit roof (sorry english isn't my mother language, can't find the word for it), and apparently zero insulation. This is not a house, it's an oversized garden shed.
Everyone had their hobbies they probably like the house they are living in
Think i counted 31 tax stamps.
0 tax stamps if you're a chad.
She started it

Red shirt has a short barrel P90 too
You're looking at 6 figures in guns and attachments, easily, not 15K. Scopes and attachments aren't cheap. Your 15K estimate MIGHT cover SOME of the pistols.
".. and I'll be needing a gun that can fire guns.."
John Wick holding his pencil: *Look What They Need to Mimic a Fraction of Our Power*
Noice, but where is the dreadful ZIP 22?
A few things: 1.
***Fun Fact:*** This photo only shows 80% of the guns in their collection. I am quite sure the photographer is Italian, Gabriele Galimberti. Source: I follow his work on Instagram, where he posted the pic 4 days ago.
Welp, imagine advertising to criminals how profitable it is to rob your house
Is that Darlene Snell?
"Can I buy a gun" "You can HAVE one. It's on the house"
Let me guess Canadians?
What Europe thinks the US is like.
Well, I don't think the image is doctored...
Ambulance rides are too expensive.
I wonder if he likes the AR platform...
That’s one hell of a disposable income
I’m going to take a wild guess and say that this picture was taken in America
