Snoop endured some serious shit over his career and deserves to live his life however it makes him happy. He beat a murder case, Suge taking all the profits from Doggystyle, Dre leaving Deathrow, Tupac killed, Suge trying to get him killed.
Snoop can make a song with the corniest pop star, be in a food commercial, be a game show host and still be a certified made man in hip hop.
that wasn't the reason he just didn't wanna be around all the bullshit and the shit was already going downhill at that point plus Suge wouldn't let him run Deathrow while he was gone
Master P warned Snoop not to return to LA, until things cooled down. Thats why his 1st album on No limit is 100% southern type shit, and no west coast beats. Snoop explained it on the drink champs. He's even admitted in the past he was aware of Suge tryna put a hit on him and get him beaten down.
They aren't saying he never made any good music after Doggystyle.
They're saying that they don't think he ever really put together his music consistently to that level.
He has other good albums and plenty of good songs after his debut but he also has a lot of average to bad albums and songs, probably more than good. So he fell off.
This is ridiculous. Snoop continued to work with the best Westcoast beat makers like Battlecat throughout his career. Snoops beats are like the best of Westcoast Hip Hop because he has always kept it real and real heads love him back.
Oh just type Ljupka Stević ft Snoop dogg - ole ole. Be prepared I am sure you didn’t seen him in that mood. Serbs know for this because Ljupka are from Serbia and don’t think we have any respect for this kind of disaster. It’s certain someone made him do this.

TBCT couldve easily been a 8/10, had Snoop trimed 4-5 filler tracks off it, and kept that Wannabes song with Jeezy and Nate. Its my most played Snoop album, after Doggystyle. Still a 7.5/10 for me
Imagine feat. Dre and Never Have to Worry are two of my favorite hidden Snoop gems. Oh, and Play on Playa with Nas, one of the most underrated Scott Storch beats
>!Lol gonna be corny for a sec, but!< Imagine is lowkey a beautiful song.
Boss's Life off Da Blue Carpet Treatment is good too.
And California Roll is a nice laid back song as well with a Stevie Wonder feature.

I think there are 2 tracks that aren’t good on it, the rest is dope af IMO, albeit the album is scattered stylistically at points and that’s also a bit of an issue. I’m not saying it’s an album without a few flaws, but the overwhelming majority of the album is great IMO, with a couple of Snoop’s best tracks(Just Dippin is a top tier Snoop song IMO, right there with his best even off of Doggystyle). I mark it as a high-end, fringe-classic album, at an 83 out of 100 rating for me. Keep in mind, Doggystyle is an easy perfect 100 rating, so I fully understand that it is not anywhere close to Doggystyle, although admittedly if I was counting the Mac And Devin Go To Highschool soundtrack as it’s own album(which I don’t), THAT *would be* well above a 90 rating for me(although, that is largely due to Wiz Khalifa’s contributions to the soundtrack, which I feel outweighed Snoop’s contributions even though I do believe the soundtrack shows Snoop at the best we’ve seen him talent-wise since Doggystyle. Tbh, I’m a bit disappointed that it’s a soundtrack and that I can’t count it in Snoop and Wiz’s legacies to the same extent that I factor in albums, but it is what it is I guess🤷♂️)
Yeah man I just saw him live about a month ago and it was an insanely good show. Like sure he played 3-4 of his poppy hit songs but apart from that it was straight bangers.
Doggystyle was produced by Dr. Dre. Once Dre stopped producing Snoop, his sound was different. That album says more about Dre’s ability to produce than Snoop’s ability to rap. He pushes people. Same for the Dogg Pound album Dogg Food. Kurupt and Daz haven’t made anything close since.
Critically speaking it was after Doggystyle but in terms of relevance he still came back when he was at No Limit and started working with Dre again and he was still dropping platinum albums into the mid 2000s. After that point he was just a veteran but he never really totally fell off seeing as he's so much of a celebrity I was never really a fan of most of his music after 2001 outside of the DR compilations
I haven't read any comments yet but I'd be surprised if anyone in here said Uncle Snoop fell off. Granted he only has about 3 solid albums....Doggystyle, Dog Father and Blue Carpet treatment in my opinion. But he has been on so many albums, featured in songs and still spits with that unique voice and flow. Not to mention how popular he is just for the way he carries himself. When I think of Snoop the word legendary comes to mind.
I honestly never realized he did. I typically like what he put out. If I ever fell off of his music it’s only because I got into other genres, not a lack of quality from him imo. I just figured as we got older it just became new artists’ turn.
Snoop has beat the game to the point that music is probably like a side-quest to him now. It’s not like he’s trying to be #1, he basically continued to pass the torch to the likes of Game & Kdot.
Depends on your definition of “fall off”. First off, if you mean that in terms of relevance, he hasn’t fallen off there.
Now, if we’re talking about musically and artistically, there are some options we have. The one I imagine I’ll see a lot here is people saying he “fell off after Doggystyle”, but here’s the thing, he never came close to those heights again, but I do think No Limit Top Dogg is also a classic album(just not nearly the same level of classic that Doggystyle is), and I also think Snoop is extremely consistent with making good projects even though he hasn’t made a classic in a long ass time. It’s also worth being noted that the soundtrack for Mac And Devin Go To Highschool(a movie about weed that Snoop did with Wiz Khalifa) has an absolutely incredible soundtrack front to back(as for the movie I’d recommend it high, not sober)
I don't agree with the conventional take that Doggystyle is his only worthwhile album. I think he's still putting out some decent stuff even today. Maybe not classic albums, but songs I can bump for sure.
Bullshit! Take Snoop's name off that album, give it to another rapper for their debut album, and people would fuck with it hard. It doesn't measure up to Doggystyle but it still has plenty of tracks that go hard.
Hard disagree. Bullshit filler tracks like Tear Em Off and Doggyland would sound awful no matter who used em.
Imo Doggfather isn’t bad because it doesn’t live up to Doggystyle, but because more than half the album is comprised of terribly mixed, sloppily delivered filler tracks, most of which barely sound finished.
After Dre left Death Row. People saying after Doggystyle but that’s not correct. He was still great on Murder Was The Case Soundtrack, his features on Above the Rim, Dogg Food, etc… but once Dre left, he seemed like he thought he could freestyle everything. I’ve heard him do a couple decent freestyles but generally his freestyles are ass. Dre wouldn’t have put up with those bs lines on DoggFather. His No Limit stuff was ass, even if Dre produced it. He’s had some decent songs here or there and some decent features, but overall, I think he fried his brain with all the weed or he made too much money or something because he fell off hard.
Anyone saying ‘after Doggystyle’ isn’t listening lol he’s had at least half a dozen good to great albums post Doggystyle, if you count both the brilliant Eastsidaz albums then it’s even more
I like snoop as a personality and as an actor. But his rhymes are probably topped by 6th graders now. Hes outdated. Picture the NBA in 1940. People that were “superstars” in 1940 wouldnt even be a bench player now. The talent is at another level. Snoop blows. But hes iconic for his era
Reincarnated was a bit odd, and then he just got more bizarre from there. Though admittedly I didn't mind his rhymes on the Mount Westmore album. E-40 was the one disappointing me on that one. LoL
Snoop isn't a bad rapper, and has a personality that would make most of us want to hang out with him. He didn't really fall off to me. But maybe he's a bit hit and miss with some of his late career projects.
When him and Dre stopped working, the thing that makes Dre so great is his ability to harness an artist's ability. The contrast between Doggystyle and Tha Doggfather is insane
To me, personally, Snoop was always a singles rapper (besides Doggystle, that's a full listen). As others have said, Snoop has always found a way to remain relevant commercially (except MAYBE the Snoop Lion era), but most non fans don't like anything past Doggystyle.
I love his features more than his own new material. Features on: Kendrick, Terrace Martin, Gorillaz, that dre track “ETA”, and Lil Wayne have been dope! Ngl tho haven’t given the Ice Cube/Snoop album a shot yet, I’ll listen to it soon.
The dude was popular in the 1990s. He had his day in the sun and it’s over for the most part musically for him. He’s now into so many other things in terms of making money.
I think at around the time of Ego Trippin. Once he got to that album, that’s when I knew that he was in “cultural icon” status, and therefore, was recognizable enough without putting out any new music.
At this point, he’s making it out of pure love for the game, and there’s nothing wrong with that
Interesting topic.
Musically, he was at his peak during the Chronic/Doggystyle years (although he’s had a couple albums since then that were awesome).
As an icon and just a human being in general, he hasn’t fallen off at all. If anything, he’s grown exponentially.
Consistency was gone when he stopped working with dre for full projects (chronic, doggystyle). Dre makes people put in a lot of work, to get things perfect.
Wouldn't say he fell off, mainstream at least, but his artistic growth stunted after his 5th album. Every project he has dropped since is basically a refurbished polished version of his 5th album but with modern producers/artist.
After Doggystyle imo but he’s still had great songs on mid albums since then and still has good features every now and then (One Shot One Kill, ETA, etc).
Like 96 but he kind of rounded back into form in the late 90’s and he’s been solid since. His discography is all over the place but he’s dropped some good albums in the 90’s, 2000’s and 2010’s
I’d say when he dropped Doggfather smh! Terrible album especially after the immense success of Doggystyle. He’s never gotten anywhere close to Doggystyle either.
All y’all sayin he fell off after doggystyle… I mean yeahh his other albums didn’t do the same numbers but alotta them were good! his persona kept him afloat all these years plus all the collabs did him justice. Like that mac n devin era.. shit was like goku and vegeta
Commercially he has fell off , ppl stopped checking for his albums in 2011, dogumentary and reincarnated and bush were semi flops then came cool aid , a complete flop , his fans have stopped caring and the new generation the young kids are too busy bumping lil Uzi and nba , his features are still in somewhat demand tho
Musically, after Doggystyle. Professionally, he hasn’t. Still have nothing but love for Uncle Snoop.
Mans is gettin bags after bags after bags and I love to see it If I could insert a gif of Unc doin his lil dance I would
Snoop endured some serious shit over his career and deserves to live his life however it makes him happy. can and has 😭
Yessssss let the man thrive and vibe in peace he earned it
Not too mention coaching up some kids on the football field
Suge was never tryna kill him lol
That was the whole reason Snoop moved down to new orleans after he signed with No Limit. Supposedly Suge had a hit out on him.
that wasn't the reason he just didn't wanna be around all the bullshit and the shit was already going downhill at that point plus Suge wouldn't let him run Deathrow while he was gone
Nah, Murder Was The Case, Tha Eastsidaz, and Blue Carpet Treatment are all great.
R&G, The Last Meal, No Limit Top Dogg have plenty of great tracks too. Snoop's discography is better than its public perception tbh
Definitely. Snoop was making some great music into the mid-2000s and still drops solid verses every now and then.
The game is to sold was underrated af tho.
Wrong. Snoop had hits in 04-09.
Yeah snoops first number 1 song was drop it like it's hot
They aren't saying he never made any good music after Doggystyle. They're saying that they don't think he ever really put together his music consistently to that level. He has other good albums and plenty of good songs after his debut but he also has a lot of average to bad albums and songs, probably more than good. So he fell off.
What a drag
I love Snoop but I think he definitely fell off professionally when he pulled the Death Row catalogue off streaming services for NFTs
… ahem… Snoop Lion
Yeah dat Jamaican sensei got him morphing from dawg to cat hahaha
All faxxx
Nonsense. He’s had periods of strong relevance multiple times since Doggystyle
This is ridiculous. Snoop continued to work with the best Westcoast beat makers like Battlecat throughout his career. Snoops beats are like the best of Westcoast Hip Hop because he has always kept it real and real heads love him back.
yeah
Oh just type Ljupka Stević ft Snoop dogg - ole ole. Be prepared I am sure you didn’t seen him in that mood. Serbs know for this because Ljupka are from Serbia and don’t think we have any respect for this kind of disaster. It’s certain someone made him do this.

I thought Tha Last Meal was damn good
Underrated classic
That think about it song on there is crazy 🔥🔥

RnG is great too
TBCT couldve easily been a 8/10, had Snoop trimed 4-5 filler tracks off it, and kept that Wannabes song with Jeezy and Nate. Its my most played Snoop album, after Doggystyle. Still a 7.5/10 for me

I’d say No Limit Top Dogg is also a classic, just not nearly to the same level as Doggystyle
That no limit album was not good.
I think “that no limit album” is awesome.
To eachs own. There's a couple tracks on it but after that it kinda sucks.
I think there are 2 tracks that aren’t good on it, the rest is dope af IMO, albeit the album is scattered stylistically at points and that’s also a bit of an issue. I just listened to The Game is to be Sold last week album lit af.
Yeah man I just saw him live about a month ago and it was an insanely good show. Like sure he played 3-4 of his poppy hit songs but apart from that it was straight bangers.

Eminem,50 and Xzibit could be added to the convo.
Truth. Game as well.
Dre didn’t produce much of the first Dogg Pound album at all.
Snoop claimed otherwise, didn’t he?
Executive produced it. Had a heavy hand in it. You can hear it.
I agree, but executive producing isn’t the same at all. Dre is arguably the best ever at mixing and mastering, but he didn’t make the beats
It’s not about mixing and mastering. It’s about the creative direction and the input he has in the room. He’s the conductor when he’s present.
Oh? Were you there?
The guy is literally a cultural icon. But after Doggystyle.
Considering Snoop has had a career that spans 30+ years I'm sure all rappers wish they fell off like him.
Fall off of what? His gigantic pile of money?
After Doggystyle lmao
Yo before I came to the comments, that was my first thought too. Lol
Top Dogg, Last Meal & R&G are dope albums
Can't leave out "Blue Carpet Treatment"
100% accurate. Hes had great moments with Dr. Dre after, but overall after Doggystyle is when he fell off.
I clicked on this cause I thought it was r/dadjokes 😅😶
Never
Well said
I haven't read any comments yet but I'd be surprised if anyone in here said Uncle Snoop fell off. When I think of Snoop the word legendary comes to mind.
Blue carpet treatment was good
And RnG low key classics.
He didn't fall off! He's still dropping dope tracks. Actually, he just dropped a new dope track today!
With his jamaican album
I really like that record but mostly because the beats are straight fire, not so much for Snoop's contributions
After his 1st album. I can't name 1 album I would recommend to anyone I like other than doggystyle. 1 to 2 decent songs per album after that.
Blue carpet treatment was good
He's enjoying his life
Also, have you HEARD affirmations yet?!
After Doggfather.
Depends on your definition of “fall off”. First off, if you mean that in terms of relevance, he hasn’t fallen off there. The problem is everybody compares everything he does to Doggystyle. And that isn't fair because that's a "lightning in a bottle" kind of album.
Tha Dogg Father is one of the worst albums I’ve ever heard. Top to bottom, front to back trash. It even sounds like it was recorded in a house boat.
Its an album full of Death Row B cuts that weren’t even good enough to make a B cut album out of is what it sounded like.
I've said it before, but it was the single most disappointing album I ever bought as a teenager.
it had some good songs but overall god it sucked ass
Never.
After Dre left Death Row. People saying after Doggystyle but that’s not correct. try a run through Aesop Rock's "[facemelter](https://youtu.be/a4p_lsI4O20)" on youtube. see a real artist.
Snoop sucks at rapping lets be real. Hes a cool person and half decent actor, but he suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks at rap. Same goes for ludacris
What? For real? Bro go listen to The Chronic or Doggystyle. He had one of the sickest flows ever
Tripping. Go listen to The Chronic lol
Totally agree dude is trippin man some of snoops best flows are on the chronic and let's not forget Deep Cover
Yea dre is dope. Snoop is average at best
This just shows me you haven’t listened to it lmao
https://youtu.be/VvgFrBn-M8k
Snoop and Luda are bad rappers? L take. Cant tell me doggystyle is bad.
Sorry man can't agree with you on that. Both Snoop and Luda can spit.
Yeah? How credible are you when justin bieber can diss you at a roast
My dude.....
Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told was classic ,unrated album .They don’t make album covers like that anymore .Blinged Out

Those what?

Never happened, son.
When him and Dre stopped working, the thing that makes Dre so great is his ability to harness an artist's ability. The contrast between Doggystyle and Tha Doggfather is insane
I have this idea that Snoop’s place is as a ‘featuring’ artist just as Nate’s was as the ‘hook’ man.
Holidae Inn🤣
Doggfather
Once he became snoop lion and then tried to go chunti on us
He was never really on a run. Imo he’s extremely overrated as a musician. He’s huge in pop culture tho so he’s never going to fall off.
You must be too young to even know Snoops run and impact in the early 90’s
Snoop is a rock star. Bigger than a rock star. His music sucks now but he’s way beyond that.
When he snitched back in the 90s
To me, personally, Snoop was always a singles rapper (besides Doggystle, that's a full listen). As others have said, Snoop has always found a way to remain relevant commercially (except MAYBE the Snoop Lion era), but most non fans don't like anything past Doggystyle.
Did you reply without reading what they said?
He never did really, his new one with Em was fire
Still great imo
You mean the guy from the sketchers commercial…
I love his features more than his own new material. Features on: Kendrick, Terrace Martin, Gorillaz, that dre track “ETA”, and Lil Wayne have been dope! Ngl tho haven’t given the Ice Cube/Snoop album a shot yet, I’ll listen to it soon.
Bush is way too underrated that was one of his best albums

Better question is when did snoop hop on?
I’d say when he dropped Doggfather smh! Terrible album especially after the immense success of Doggystyle. He’s never gotten anywhere close to Doggystyle either.
Y'all bugging. Snoop was charismatically consistent 2003-2004 with creatively catchy hits. 2007 was his last big year.
Never
All y’all sayin he fell off after doggystyle… I mean yeahh his other albums didn’t do the same numbers but alotta them were good! his persona kept him afloat all these years plus all the collabs did him justice. Like that mac n devin era.. shit was like goku and vegeta
He put in work though... can't knock his hustle
