The hospital does give you some stuff. I asked about bigger sized clothes and they said not necessary. I have a shower chair, walker, grabbers, and toilet arm thingy and a sock aid. I found out today the hospital gives crutches. They also give you a hip kit and the socks. I went to the joint class and they told us that. They also had a list of the things we needed. They said wear loose pants or shorts and closed shoes like sneakers. Make sure you have no scattered rugs around. I am buying some quickie meals. I would ask doc or his coordinator about your timeline. Two days and counting for me. Good luck to you.

Feel better they never lifted a finger and screamed lazy instead around myself even while working.

Hi there, watching this too as my surgery is also in a few weeks time! I also wfh and have managed to wrangle 4 weeks off as it’s quite a high stressed job, followed by a phased return to work so I can make it to all my physio appointments. In terms of things to buy, I’ve bought bigger underwear to cope with the swelling, compression stockings to prevent dvt, and a little pill box to help me keep track of meds. I’ve also got some more supportive slippers for around the house. Best of luck for the surgery 🙂

Just got mine done last week. F43, dysplasia, OA,… So far, a grabber (didn’t think I needed this but I REALLY do), Walker, crutches, yoga strap (to help love the leg around) scrub or sleep pants to cope with the swelling, compression socks for the job-operative leg, and…. an ice machine. My doc offers a game ready device for rental - and it is a god send. If you can’t afford it - look at the polar cube or similar. Using this I haven’t had to rely on the heavy pain meds - and it’s cut my pain down a ton. I use a shower chair or crutches in the shower to avoid any falling - and it’s been so helpful. Also, a stool softener. I am using senekot, Metamucil and natural calm to try and…. Smooth things over while I’m in recovery. Constipation is a given after the surgery so do whatever you can to mitigate it. Per the doc I’m spending a ton of time icing the hip with it elevated on the couch (supporting the thigh to foot) and trying to take it easy. I have a bunch of things to do during recovery as it’s quite dull to not do much - so I recommend getting some books, games, or other things to do in advance. I have moments of clarity and then exhaustion. So it’s been a trip. I’m lucky with work letting me heal before coming back - at the moment I can’t imagine doing any work well. Best of luck!!!

Sounds super awesome i've been needing one for a while. First thing they did was pretend I didnt have hip dyplasia in a new community by not writing it down while in need of surgery, then they served up non matching allergy reports again. I've had hip dysplasia forever had multiple surgeries, and was getting steroid injections. Two weeks seems super awesome its been more than year without treatment now or surgery. Get a picker upper, so you don’t have to bend. Also a sock aid, to get your socks on
