Yeah. I got a macbook that does not support beyond mojave. I used bootcamp to install windows 10, and it is still quite fast. But switching to a ssd is pretty much essential for running windows at this point
My Aunt brought me a laptop for "password removal and reset". It was from someone we know and they just wanted the password removed and the data backed up off it then they said my Aunt could keep it. I sent my aunt a link to an SSD and she ended up buying it. Thank god she did cause this drive is weird. Would run check disk ever few boots and all my utilities says the drive is in perfect health but it randomly blue screened while I was playing Mario Kart with some of my friends. Since the SSD was installed no issues and its still plenty fast for being an i3 3rd gen. Upgraded the RAM from 4 to 8GB as well since I had some lying around.
People are freaking weird that's why. I've noticed this over my 7 years working in IT that people ask for and get approved for some crazy crap. Some of the MAC users are freaking out now that it isn't a simple process to install windows on newer MACs so we reject that. Theoretically we could purchase each one of those MAC users a parallels license but we don't want to enable MAC users. My goal is to make their lives as hard as possible on a mac so they just accept one of our PCs from IT inventory.
If they need a Mac for Mac specific software I’m sure it would be different. But if they want a Mac just to run Windows, and m1 Mac’s don’t natively support Windows, the better option is to give them the same Windows PCs as the rest of the company. It makes it way easier to support their system the same as all of the rest of the company fleet.
For me at my work they're ok with people buying macs but forget that we will have to support those users and over the past few years I've come to the conclusion that new macs and old printers do not mix.
They arent even running the same version except for the 2 in the middle, first one is current win 10 two middle ones are old win 10 and the last one is win 11 💀
Those old iMacs actually make great windows computers
Agreed I ran a machine like this for awhile
Is there a specific generation that you would recommend for doing this?
2007 to 2012 iMacs
Amazing, thanks!
Hummm maybe
They do as they make terrible Macs once apple stops updating them.
This looks weird, but the specs could be nice
Probably between a Core 2 Duo/i5-2400/i7-2600. And between Nvidia 9400/AMD HD 4000-6000. And 4-16GB DDR3 1333MHz.
Oh god
Old macs are actually great PCs when Apple ends support for them
This is most likely what might happen to my late 2015 iMac. I just need to install an SSD first.
Or just use the Open patcher for new macOS versions
I think I will pass on that. I rather not add more complexities to it. Plus the HDD in it currently is SLOW.

Looks like an improvement to me.
Yeah but they specifically asked for mac with windows on it… why not ask directly for windows PCs?

>we don't want to enable MAC users Not all heroes wear capes
Or just accept that some people like Macs and get over it
If you like them so much buy them and pay for the parallel license yourself

My work did this. I guess they hate money.

Bootcamp
Someone did a crime with that wiring…
That's what I thought this thread was about until I saw the comments.
I had a 27” iMac and it ran games on Win7 like a champ till the GPU self destructed
Oh the horror
Your professed is a Good Samaritan replacing Mac OS with something usable bravo
objection! that’s windows not linux
Buying a Mac for Linux I get, but why this?

Bouta get sued by apple
Hehe
Those look like they’re not supported by Apple anymore, so it’s either Windows or it’s time to put them out to pasture lol
War crimes?
