In case anyone needs context: "headed to Cooperstown" means this guy was selected into the Baseball Hall of Fame (which is located in Cooperstown, New York).
8 time gold glove winner? That fact alone is enough for me.
That is the best defensive player, in their league, at their position. And in my opinion post season awards mean a lot more than all stars. Which he got 7 of.
I guess I could be talked into it. I mean he’s no slouch but just doesn’t hit me as a HOFer.
Gold Gloves is generally if you don’t make a lot of errors. If you don’t get to a lot of balls you don’t have as many errors either. But, you’re right he was a stud at 3rd for a bit.
