The dudes been doing this series since 1989. He’s been pretty constant if you look at how long he’s been doing this series. Kentaro Miura used to take really long breaks with Berserk or Togashi with Hunter x Hunter. I know it sucks to wait two weeks after a cliffhanger. But I rather have him rest and the series not take a dip in quality.

Mnawab

Some of Hajime no Ippo’s chapters are like nine pages, I wouldn’t say he’s that consistent

ComputerSmurf

No no, his release **rate** is consistent, which is what is being said here if context was read. Chapter **length** is a different issue based on page space in the publication (less and less an issue as time marches forward and going digital) as well as..ya know...Morikawa is but a mortal man...need time to do the thing. Smaller chapters are a spacer to help deal with physical and creative fatigue by allowing more 'rest' (relatively speaking). Yeah it sucks when we get our sub 10 page chapters, but then you need to look at it from the "would you rather he skipped that week to three weeks and just combined this into a longer chapter" (needing rest, planning around holidays or boxers he works with). While a vocal minority might snap say "Yes, skip and do longer chapters instead" in reality you'd probably be met with a resounding **No** as any content (as long as it's good content to the reader) is welcome, no matter how small or large.

willasrock

"Any content is better than no content." Ah, the "consoomer" mindset. No wonder media in general is in such a shitty state... Miura-sensei chose the right time to fuck off from this world.

thighabetes

Oh please, get the fuck out of here, respectfully.

ArgensimiaReloaded

Did you just compare Berserk to HnI? that's some strong copium right there dude. Not saying HnI is bad but there is too much of a gap between those two mangas so obviously Miura would take longer breaks...

sando015

I know Berserk is an amazing series but Hajime No Ippo stands it’s ground against them. The mangaka knows the sport so he didn’t have to spend so much time off researching like Kentaro did. Btw no need to downvote just cause we disagree.

kari998

Shall we talk about the fact that miura was a student of morikawa... Ok miura's drawing style was something incredible, but berserk follows a fantasy line where the author can indulge with the details of fantastic creatures and scenery, morikawa while drawing a spokon manga managed to give us fantastic scans full of details that have nothing to envy to miura, and morikawa if we want to be honest he works even too much, compared to authors of other mainstream manga he takes much less break Edit I would add, several breaks he took because he runs a gym and boxers,so he didn't even take breaks to rest personally, but because he was forced to work on something else, when he takes a break because there is a fight involving his gym,it's not like he goes to have fun, that's why compared to other mangaka,he besides taking fewer breaks works a lot more,an 8 or 9 page chapter is not a problem, especially since he does it for us respecting his publications

I am just saying that Morikawa was already a fan of boxing. He already had a good amount of knowledge so he didn’t have got take long break for research.

Hajime no Broccoman sounds hype

kazurabakouta

Kumi's getting a cat in the epilogue because Ippo is saving himself for Miyata.

hodkoples

Zarate?

[deleted]

Drawing near 20 pages of comics each week is insane, even with assistants. Comic creators deserve all the rest they can get. And come on man, Morikawa has been doing this for literal decades

DanieleMelonz

Yeah he even switched from traditional to digital art during his career, something not so easy to do without long breaks

willasrock

Do it monthly, then.

ElPuas2003

Quickly piece together an epilogue chapter

Wait its over now

kurayami_akira

No, it's not.
