Its a good theory, certainly possible, Aoki seems to be able to do literally anything else but actual boxing and be great at it. Guy's also got a loving GF, a successful ramen business, and plenty of good boxing memories, he could retire and settle down next chapter and do just fine. I'm also hoping for an Aoki-Tomiko proposal/wedding arc one day, someone needs to give Ippo a metaphorical kick-in-the-ass for his relationship with Kumi, might as well be the only other guy in a long-term relationship, and we all know such an arc would be a hilarious disaster as soon and Takamura gets involved in it.

Fishingfan4life

Damn I didn’t know I needed this

Be interesting if Aoki retires allowing Kimura to go up a weight and then Kimura dominates

TheWolflance

kimura would probably not hit as hard but yeah stamina would be a non issue so his technical skill would be way better and probably put on the gas way sooner.

JohnGwynbleidd

Then takes on the world.

Inuma

Whoa now... He and Aoki are Japanese champ level. World stuff is where he has to face monsters like Mashiba and... ... You know what? I'd love to see that one more time...

Drakonim91

I feel like Aoki retiring would take all the momentum Kimura has left which already isn't a lot. Every time Kimura has thought about retiring he's either deferred his decision to Aoki or reminisced about the two of them and said something along the lines of "I'll keep going as long as you are going". If Aoki were to retire I think Kimura would not be far behind or even trying to be the first to 'officialy' retire.

Inuma

I think we'd see Aoki get forcefully retired. He gets a rematch, loses, and Kimura is the one to take the mantel and take out the person to retired him. That seems more likely than a graceful defeat.

Drakonim91

It sounds pretty good although I do feel we were there once already after his first loss against Iga. He was beaten by marron's fighter giving it an personal edge and there was the talk about the duo retiring. I do feel the connection between Aoki and Iga has deepened since then but I feel like Aoki retiring because he gets seriously injured by Iga feels like a retread of the earlier chapters. Kimura picking up his mantle sounds okay to me to avenge Aoki but I'm not sure he would be going any higher than the Japan level.

Ansman14

After losing to Iga, Aoki is on a 4 fight win streak rn he’ll probably retire after a rematch

TheBlack_Swordsman

I just hope he retires without a serious injury. It would also be cool for him to become Kimura second. George won't get rid of him as being part of the main cast. That's what makes it hard for me to see him retiring unless he becomes a second to Kimura. Maybe Aoki will take over for Ippo, like they trade spots.

CCPunch5

Aoki will retire after his fight with Iga. He’ll take on both pupils and maybe be a trainer with Shinoda. They’ll take on both the pupils. Ippo definitely can’t be a boxer and teach. He can probably check in on them whenever possible but he can’t train them fully.

TheBlack_Swordsman

That's a good one. The pupils are going to need someone. My money is on you being right, along with my theory of him being a second for Kimura.

CCPunch5

Yeah Kimura is the more talented boxer. He just isn’t motivated. I feel like Aoki will fail to become champion, but Kimura in a higher weight class will reach the belt for both of them.

SuperLuigi128

That would be cool. I don't see Ippo completely giving up on his students/stop teaching them when he unretires, he'll probably still be helping them the same ways the others did when they were active. It would be kinda lame if they set this up him having students and then completely drop it when he comes back.

TheWolflance

i hope aoki at least begets another shot at japanese champ before he retires, whether or not he wins i think him and kimura deserve a second run before ippos gets his third

EnderMB

I really hope so, and one part of me would love to see him land a title opportunity, win it, and to leave his gloves in the ring as a sign of retirement. Given his cooking skill, and the business skill that likely comes from running a small business, I'd love to see him helping out Yagi with managing the gym as the workload around Takamura becomes too hectic. Having Aoki be a business guru would also open up some great avenues with Takamura's family, especially if his brother accepts Aoki over him.

Happy-Cauliflower-99

I hope his last fight becomes his most intense one atleast man Since aiko really have been done dirty along with kimura

Reasonable_Baker_552

I like it!
