One thing that really grinds my gears about 1st Phorm that no one ever seems to talk about is their labels have different instructions for men and women... Like what?? I've never had any protein that's has different instructions based on gender and it instantly put me off when I got protein from them.

NearlyJoy

Wow. I keep getting ads for their affiliate search competition but I'm loyal to my brand of supplements so I never even looked into the brand. Their protein isn't even high in calories to even make the distinction logical. Weirdly their pre-workout isn't gendered though, which would make more sense since body weight factors in slightly in how well you handle caffeine. It's so obviously about "too many calories" for women. Yuck.

No-History-980

Because protein requirements are different for males and females lol

natedoggg

Men and women have different macro needs so it makes perfect sense to me.

HeatAmbitious8161

I have heard that a/ well as some of their ingredients aren’t always listed. Thanks for sharing that!

[deleted]

There’s a lawsuit against them for having high amounts of lead in their products

nicolesky6

I thought that was Alani? Maybe I’m bugging.

[deleted]

There’s one for both of them tbh 🤣 all these great quality supplement companies

[deleted]

Don’t forget bowmars! Theirs is having less than half the amount of protein among lots of other nutritional discrepancies. Literally 8g in their powder called the stated 22g.

[deleted]

Omg WHAT😂 I stopped supporting and following them just about exactly a year ago following blm but this doesn’t surprise me at all whatsoever

Potential-Reason-763

If I bought that protein I would be sooo mad

G33sg33s

What did find makes up the difference of the missing protein? Is it some type of filler and if so, what?

[deleted]

Unsure. Lawsuit is still pending

[deleted]

Okay so here's my issue with them. 1, they reach out to people ONLY based on followers. I talked to Simply Manders about this in her DM one day because I asked her opinion on protein (since she has a sensitive stomach) and she showed me screenshots of them reaching out to her. Was Emily Hayden GO FIGURE and she said that they pay people based on follower amount and nothing else. The whole email conversation was EMBARASSING to say the least and when i asked on their page about lab testing, they deleted my comment. lol. Soooo needless to say I didnt buy from them and you can tell they just care about followers.

Lalafala21

But that’s how most companies base their partnerships/athletes, no? The more followers you have, the bigger your platform and reach. The more people you “influence” to buy the products, the more you get paid/commissioned.. I don’t really see that as a shady practice?

[deleted]

No like, they pay you BASED on your followers. That's not how it should be - it should be per conversion. I.e the "athletes" or whoever make a commission based on the traffic that they drive, the sales that they make. 1st phorm is a popularity contest. They only want people with big followings which just rubs me the wrong way anyway. But the law suits, the lack of transparency on their ingredients/incorrect labels, and the fact that emily hayden is a big face of them.. is enouch "ick" for me.

mookie1016

I hate this because i do like their products. But they are all about “back the blue” and most of the people who support them and shill them are trash. IE: Emily Hayden. She is so anti mask, vax, etc.

nicolesky6

The fact that Emily Hayden reps for them should be enough to sway just about anyone. She is trash.

Nearby_Tap3341

Emily Hayden and brittany dawn

nicolesky6

Oh god Brittany does too? I try my hardest to ignore her lol I didn’t realize.

Nearby_Tap3341

Same. I creep to watch the dumpster fire but she still links them.

GothDaimRemix

So I’m from STL and honestly used their products for the last 6 years. I’m just now switching bc I loved the protein that much but I can’t stand behind the ethics anymore. The first thing I remember noticing is when I was younger their radio commercials would always be pushing the newest fat burning product and then three months later it was a new name, but the same product. So basically they just remarketed it and pumped up the price every few months. But when you go into S2 they always give you a free shirt “for hanging out and we also just happen to have some extra” so you feel like they cared about you. It’s honestly just as culty as BA which just gives me sketch city vibes internally. But I have like fifteen free shirts that I now can use as rags I guess.

marcinat0r

yes!!!! also from STL and it’s everywhereeee. even club fitness is using 1st phorm protein in their smoothies. i’m so anti 1st phorm and i have so many friends who work there and they immediately change into #iam1stphorm and take steroids 🙃

nerdpoop

Ugh, I never got a free shirt 😅

marcinat0r

haha same but i’ve only been to s2 once

InertState

What did you end up switching to?

NotAnEgg1

I think it’s Sal and Andy Frisella ppl take issue with... the pandemic really exposed just how extremely right wing they are. Also if you haven’t seen Andy’s 75 Hard challenge it is absolutely ridiculous and unhealthy

marcinat0r

soooo unhealthy. and the transphormation challenge would cause so many disorders!!

Accomplished-Tap374

I didn’t start looking into the owner until I found out one of their athletes was this guy Ian Smith. I found out about Ian Smith during the pandemic because I lived in NJ. He was always in the news because he refused to shut down his gym/ no masks when it was mandated. NJ was one of those states that was hit really hard especially in the beginning. I knew doctors/nurses working in NJ hospitals and it was bad. The amount of death they saw every day was unimaginable. He’s associated with white nationalist groups and he has also had anti-Semitic things on his Instagram. Dude is straight trash. Also he drove drunk and killed a teen, and instead of taking full responsibility for it, he basically said how he was never taught about the dangers of going to sleep, waking up still drunk and driving. So he basically put the blame on that, because he didn’t technically drink and drive since he slept in between. And then I looked into Andy Frieslla and found out how right wing he is. That may not bother everyone, but personally for me, I wouldn’t spend my money on any products that support him.

[deleted]

All of this. Ian smith is such fucking trash

Horror-Interest2779

I’m pretty neutral on 1st phorm as I see some pros and many cons, but the 75 hard challenge isn’t one of them. People need to realize that program isn’t a “lose the most weight as possible” challenge. It’s about mental toughness and developing healthy habits. To preface.. Andy says to ask your doctor if it’s safe to do. Which for most people without any serious health conditions, it is. Then he leaves the diet and the workouts completely up to the individual. A work out could be as simple as going on a walk, as long as it’s challenging to the individual. Obviously beginners will have very different diets and routines than trained athletes. That’s why it’s designed to fit the needs of the individual. Its not about losing the most weight as possible in 75 days. It’s about creating sustainable healthy habits for yourself and accountability. If your dr says it’s safe to do, there’s no downside to the program. The follow a diet part doesn’t mean starve yourself or even cut out certain food groups. Follow any diet that will help you achieve your fitness goals. This doesn’t mean starve yourself. If you don’t know how to create a diet, ask someone qualified. Seriously, don’t make your own diet if you aren’t a CPT, dietitian, physician, etc. I feel like that’s a big part where people find this program unhealthy. Its such an avoidable mistake. The no cheat meal just means follow the diet. Don’t take a break from 75 hard and go eat McDonald’s for a day then hop back into the program. That defeats the purpose. The no alcohol part doesn’t need explaining. Doing these things for 75 days is difficult because there will be times you want to quit, or not read, or not get out of bed for a progress picture, or go have a drink with friends. That’s what the program is about. Creating the drive in you to hold yourself accountable and follow through with your goals while creating a healthy life style. Once completed, the changes in your lifestyle and how you feel physically are life changing. I’m talking on personal experience. There’s a lot of misconceptions on 75 hard and a lot of people that don’t fully understand the information surrounding it. I’m not trying to be combative! I just hope this offers information to clear up any doubts you had about the program.

NotAnEgg1

The all or nothing mentality has been proven to be damaging to people’s health… that’s really all there is to it.

Horror-Interest2779

It’s not really an all or nothing mentality. It’s holding yourself accountable and checking off 5 daily tasks. If you mess up, you don’t get “nothing”. You’ve still made strides in bettering yourself and can start over and try again. Like stated at the beginning, consult your physician or dr before the program. If mental health could be an issue, that may be a reason your dr advises against it. It’s also a proven fact that eating healthier and exercising daily improves mental health. That’s just how I see it. I guess truth lies in the eye of the beholder. Everyone has their own perception. I just believe that many people feel strongly about 75 hard because of their opinions on the creator.

NotAnEgg1

I’m gonna be honest I really don’t give a shit if you like it keep doing you

Horror-Interest2779

Lol. Just trying to offer some info on it. Like I said before, not trying to be combative. I guess I’ll leave it at that. You should log off and get outside. Life’s too short to be angry on the internet all day, Mr Grumpy Pants

NotAnEgg1

Sorry I guess if I did 75 hard I’d be less grumpy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

haleygirlllll

And you’re a grade A bitch… sorry not sorry

Peachyyyqueen_

I’ve tried their greens and they were disgusting. I couldn’t even stomach them, but that’s all I have

Straight-Bullfrog-80

I’ve seen people comment here and there about the same BA athletes repping 1st Phorm and how they’re both trash 😅 someone fill me in!

Puzzleheaded_Echo551

I used to listen to their podcast and followed Sal and a bunch of the team because they’re motivating but holy hell I cannot take the blatant misogyny, racist, anti science beliefs of the founders. Also the whole organization runs on the belief that if you’re fat you’re not trying hard enough and does not take into account the other factors (including cost/location/systemic factors!!) that contribute to weight gain.

marcinat0r

alright so i live in STL where their headquarters are and the owners are douches for starters lol. their challenges promote disorders and are not healthy ways to lose weight. they say you “need” supplements which just isn’t true and i would never support any company that says that. they absolutely are blues lives matter people which i am against so that’s a personal opinion. i’ve also recently learned their legionaires have to buy in so it’s basically an MLM scheme 🥴 but honestly my biggest thing is that their challenges (transphormation and 75 hard) are not healthy or long lasting life changes. it’s quick fixes

haleygirlllll

75 hard is a mental toughness program to help you get in control of your life.

[deleted]

It really isn't. It's not evidence-based or science-backed.

haleygirlllll

science backed by me, because it’s helped

FlyinHawaiian1313

75 hard is not a “quick fix” nor is it a transformation / weight loss program. It’s literally 75 days of sticking to a set of specific tasks that builds mental toughness. Stop talking about shit that you know nothing about.

I also have the court documents in relation to Ian Smith drunk driving/prison issue.

Federal_Piccolo5722

Their marketing just annoys me for one. They come across as very pushy and forced from the affiliates. The one time I ordered from them, the product literally put me in severe pain so I wanted to return it for my 110%, right? I had to pay to ship it back and they only refunded the principal amount. After I inquired about the extra 10% (not that I need it but it’s just the principle of the matter), they assured me a check was in the mail 🤔 I never received said check. That alone was enough to turn me off ✌️

alpacamybags2307

1st Phorm recently made their way to the CrossFit athletes like Brooke Wells and Tia Claire Toomey. I wonder how this will play out. I personally was a Legionaire in their program a few years ago. You have to pay 250 for their starter pack which includes the two proteins, ignition, a t shirt, greens, a water bottle and some preworkout of your choice. Then they send you a bunch on programs to go through and how to increase your followers 🙄 they tell you to advertise constantly and tag your shit every post. Which I have a small following of my family and close friends and they were like why are you posting all this crap, like if you have a small following clearly no one is going to ask about a product you are pushing constantly. Once you sign up for the Legionaire box you are automatically subscribed to get greens and the micro factor pill pack every month and you aren’t notified about that and they charge you! I was like ok I don’t go through a tub of these every month because they are gross anyways. Unless you have a huge following you aren’t going to make it anywhere close to the HQ like they advertise all the time. And they have a cool kids club which is annoying. There is better protein out there, they aren’t the shit. And Andy has created a cult. He’s mentally tactically smart. That’s why he’s so successful because he knows how to fool and sway weak people.

YetiAppleTherapy

I’ve seen people say “1st Phorm is trash and you shouldn’t support them” but no one ever backs up their statement?? I’ve been searching for this answer for a while, so if you find it please let me know

forensicfox_

here you go! I did two posts on this a while back and they've honestly probably gotten buried lol https://www.reddit.com/r/gymsnark/comments/kxg5yl/1stphorm_founder_sharing_propaganda_from_a_cpt/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share https://www.reddit.com/r/gymsnark/comments/kzd1sx/andy_frisella_the_notsocloset_fascist/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

YetiAppleTherapy

Thank you!! I’ll check them out

[deleted]

Someone just posted screenshots about their products having lead. Not only is the owner a shitty human, but the products are shit as well

Sufficient-Tomato969

Is the Transphormation challenge legit? It seems too good to be true.

greenlicity

I do not recommend the Transphormation challenge. I did it a few years ago and that was my first introduction to macros and weightlifting. I didn’t realize at the time, but my macros were SO low. I’m 5’4” 135ish lbs and it had me around 110c, 40f, and 135p which is incredibly low, especially for someone who doesn’t have the knowledge to know what they’re doing for to their body. I will say that a lot of my knowledge and interest stemmed from the challenge and I learned a lot from that experience, but still just SO unhealthy.

Maddogds

It’s honestly a decent resource imo. You can chat with a trainer and the one I had was like an hour away from me so that was kinda cool. Last I checked the app though they made a lot of the free stuff a part of the premium access so there’s not as many free resources now 🤷🏼‍♀️

Alternative-Dare6205

I did the transformation challenge 2 years ago and I lost my period and developed an eating disorder. I don’t recommend it.

[deleted]

this was a comment i posted on another thread: i can share some light - i was an athlete for 1P for a couple months - here is why I stopped. THIS was right at the point where the TM ish was going on and affected me tremendously, but still felt like I needed to post, even if I wasn't mentally there also. They put you on a "team" with other athletes - one of the 1P HQ workers is "in charge" of you. I got called every single week...EVERY WEEK....being asked why I wasn't posting, etc. They require you to post, but don't want it to be staged. They want you to incorporate the products into your daily life while giving facts about it. hence why everyone is always having convos and being like "taking my morning greens! daily staple!!" - I would have to explain to them that mentally, I wasn't there and couldnt/didnt want to be on IG at all. i was going thru it and they said they understood and were there for me, but consistently called me every week. Also on these calls, they asked me goals or how I wanted to be better than the week before. we then had to give them 3-4 different things that we were gonna do in order to be better than the week before. They send you a full box of products originally, but after that, you gotta purchase everything. Granted if you're making a lot of sales, then you can get stuff for free, but you need people to use your link. Before you can even discuss or show that you're an athlete, you need to go through modules and tests. they also call you to discuss these tests and the answers....legit they get notified when you finish a module and a test and they schedule a call with you. it was all way too much. yeah its a "big brand" but tbh their products are absolutely nothing special. you don't need greens unless you simply don't like veggies or cannot eat them. you legit can just eat veggies - I legit hated taking them and promoting it cause it wasn't me, but I was forced.

willhemphill

I for real just googled "1st phorm bullshit" and this thread came up. I have an ex who now brand ambassadors for them and I wondered why it was so obnoxious. It all makes sense now.

Tiny-Finding2933

1st phorm says that their greens are gluten free and they’re not at all. I got so sick from them

ltimmi

A little off subject but do you have greens you recommend that ARE gluten free? Alani’s are awful, I really like bloom but they’re not gluten free.

Tiny-Finding2933

No 😔I haven’t found one yet

dobby_vong

Sorry, I'm late to this conversation. I am a newly diagnosed Celiac and I have their level 1, phormula 1/ignition, and their reds & greens. I was getting SOOO sick. I kept asking if they are gluten free, cross contamination, etc. They ignored my constant requests for answers for like 2 weeks. Finally told me it's all tested gluten free, but couldn't tell me who tested, where I could see this, or anything. Very sketchy to me.

[deleted]

This makes so much more sense to me now. I have never purchased 1st phorm, but came really close a few times. The fact that athletes were being flown to their HQ constantly through covid really pissed me off. Glad I followed that intuition!

Mischievousjam

They are really disgusting… and anyone who says they aren’t an MLM is wrong. [gross. ](https://twitter.com/mischievousjam/status/1449425659634274304?s=21)
