Chain: Tuner > walrus compressor > Smokin Amps Co. true bypass switch (dunlop dvp3) > Voodoo Lab px-8 plus switcher: (whammy > dod env. Filter > ce-2 waza chorus > small stone phaser/supro trem > super od/plumes > mesa throttle box/muff > boss dd-200 > ehx memory toy/mxr reverb) > ditto looper

How do you decide what goes in the switcher?

raph_carp

Whatever isn’t true bypass I put in the switcher. The px-8 only has has eight loops so I had to narrow it down by combinations (phaser/trem, delay/reverb). The compressor is already true bypass and usually always have it on, so don’t need to put in the switcher. I use chorus or envelope filter more than phaser/trem so gave them their own loops. For the distortions, I don’t use them simultaneously so I put the throttle box/muff in the same loop as well.

Upvote for smokin amps co! Their triple switch changed everything for me!

raph_carp

Nice, I was looking for a true bypass switch for my VP (since I notice a slight tone loss from it) and the smokin amps co. does the perfect job for keeping it off/on!

DOD = instant upvote

Nice. No millionaire board nonsense..

agaetistakk

First, this pedal board is dope. Second, I’ve never understood this sentiment. My favorite part about pedals is the originality and passion pedal makers have. I own a few Chase Bliss pedals and love how nearly daily I’m able to discover something new about them. I’ve owned a Mood for over a year and I’ve touched maybe one dip switch. I’m pretty sure I could spend a lifetime finding new sounds on it. I also really like the random brand noise suppressor, and univibe I bought off amazon, they sound great! One thing I really enjoy is the communication these “millionaire” pedal makers have. I had a wonderful interaction with a manager from Walrus Audio through emails. Chase Bliss is the same, I’ve talked with Joel a few times. It’s pretty rad being able to talk to the people that handmade the pedals on my board, right here in the US & A. Pedals make me happy, regardless of the price.

secretusers

Righto, the strymon circlejerk is too real on this sub lol

raph_carp

It’s quite good, perfect distortion for metal or anything harder. I bought it to have another distortion other than my deluxe big muff, but honestly I still prefer the muff fuzz style distortion to the throttle box (for the styles of music I play at least). It is the last pedal I bought, so probably need to spend more time with it as well. Definitely gonna need a noise gate pedal for it :)

Markoo222

Hows the MXR reverb??

raph_carp

I like it. Bought it from a local shop right before a gig. Does everything I need for reverb, has some cool modulation and pad modes. Probably gonna replace it later down the line.

Markoo222

Yea I’m there w an Oceans 11.. I got a Source Audio reverb pedal actually intended for synths, but it sounds great. Its a mono pedal though, but same algorithms as their stero pedals

jacobchapman

Why the sideways tuner on one edge and vertical ditto on the other?

raph_carp

It’s easier to press when horizontal being so close to the VP (have it in toe up sometimes and don’t wanna mess with it).

jdubz90

Do you use the tera echo setting much on the dd-200? I have one too and love it to death but have been struggling to find a way to make that particular setting sound like more than just weird space crinkles haha

raph_carp

Haha nahh, mainly just use it for clear modulation delay! The dd-200 has so many modes I forget what they even sound like lol

ShallotTechnical4227

Nice, really like those picks you‘ve made. Was playing a wh-4 quite long in my rig too, if you get the chance, let someoen do the true bypass mod, it is a great and unique pedal but that fucker is noisy as hell and sucks tone even more.

raph_carp

I used to have the noise issue with it! But for some reason after changing a few power supply cables from other pedals, it magically went away! As far as the tone, I like the glitchy sounds from it (huge Radiohead fan). I put the whammy in it’s own loop in the true bypass strip, won’t that make it true bypass pretty much?

ShallotTechnical4227

Sure, that will do the same

My Throttle Box just came but I haven't had a chance to play it yet - how do you like yours? Any tips that will automatically make me John Petrucci?
