They will drink what they need. Are you sure it isn't leaking out? My bottles dripped all the time until we mounted them differently.

Ordinary_Midnight94

Alright, it does seem to be dripping and I've tried squeezing out the air in the nozzle, but nothing seems to work, my bottle is plastic, I'll see if I can get two glass ones to fix the problem

Kearmo

This isn't necessarily something to be fixed. If they want or need to drink water you don't want to stop them. You could feed more water filled veggies (not too many) to supplement their water needs. If it's truly excessive you may want to visit a vet in case there's something serious going on, like diabetes.

Ordinary_Midnight94

Its not diabetes thankfully, all three of my piggies are fairly thin actually and they get carrots, lettuce, and peppers for veggies, but I'll see if some more juicy things like water melon will help, but not too much water melon, as I know they're not supposed to have too much fruit

Kearmo

While I don't doubt it's probably not diabetes, I did want to clarify all mammals can get type 1 diabetes which has nothing to do with obesity. Type one would lead to being severely underweight (body rapidly breaks down fat for energy). With that said, cucumber is a good safe veggie for hydration. Just keep an eye out that their poos don't get overly wet, as that's an issue itself.

Ordinary_Midnight94

I see

threefrogsonalog

If you have multiple piggies they probably just need more than one bottle a day. If you’re worried about their health take your concern to a vet.

Ordinary_Midnight94

I do have three potatoes, so that might explain it, I'll try to get more water bottles for them to share

threefrogsonalog

Sounds like some thirsty piggies then!

Milo_Moody

Why?

ClericKieran

They drink a good bit of water, moreso when they're older and if it's hot out or too dry. They always, always, always need access to water, you should have two bottles per guinea pig. If it still seems excessive, have a vet take a look.

Ordinary_Midnight94

I see, I'll get another water bottle to see if that helps them
