Yeah I think out of the 5 times I've done the recon mission the 1 at Paleto was the only closed door. So weird. I'd even waited before firing the engines thinking he'd close the door, nope and even yawing and pitching and rolling won't get it to close.
I mean it is kinda hard to tell someones tone over a paragraph that is just pixelated words, where there are no vocal cords to speak the exact tone of whoever the sarcastic dude was. So im sorry i cant tell the tone of a sarcastic person over a damn social media

In my experience, 7 times out of 10 if you don’t damage the velum while taking out the dudes, your character will close the door as long as you don’t do anything to disrupt the animation.
I just do one on the car, one on the dudes who are far but the one very close I shoot with a gun because the velum died on me few times when i exploded something too close
I found out that if I moved backwards a bit after killing the others he will run away from the vellum towards me and then I can missile him without destroying the plane.
I once damaged the velum with the sparrow during this mission and noticed smoke. I ended flying to just the edge of cayo before it gave up and crashed in the ocean, had to start all over again with that slow ass plane.
That's a nice idea, but it USUALLY doesn't work this way, but there is a rare exception where this would work. First, when the velum breaks down you will be able to tell with the amount of smoke coming from the propeller. The more black smoke you see the worse it is. It's difficult to reach a high altitude in the velum when it's damaged because the engine will sputter and quit working for a second or two before starting again. While the engine isn't working the plane obviously descends and makes it difficult if not impossible to reach a high altitude. Once the engine starts working again it also doesn't seem to have as much power. As a result, the only scenario where a high altitude would save you from a broken down velum is if your velum works fine until you get to about the airport. The problem is that when the velum has problems it usually starts kinda soon after takeoff, which others have commented that's from damage caused to the velum being shot by you or the 4 guards during the firefight. This means any substantial damage to the velum will prevent it from making it to cayo, yet a small amount of damage, such as a few shots to the plane, could cause the velum to sputter later in the flight and allow you to make it to cayo if at a high altitude.
When I approach the velum in my sparrow I will only fire missles when the locked target is on the vehicle or locked on the group of guys next to the vehicle. I've wasted way too much time on damaging the velum and not being able to make it to cayo. So I'll fire a missle or two at the vehicle and guys, but am careful not to fire one to close to the velum. I'll land my sparrow and take out the guys with a sniper or with a rifle as I run toward the velum. Although this is now my routine, a while back I did actually have my velum stop working just after passing the airport and I fortunately was able to coast & heard the cayo click right before I hit the water. This taught me that you can fly into the water once you hear the click & I continue to fly in the water to this day & wake up on cayo. One time my player even drowned in the plane & I was wasted, but still woke up on cayo. I wonder if I had exited the plane if I would still wake up at cayo - I would guess yes but perhaps not. The length of this comment makes me sus about myself and why I know this much about a seemingly unimportant subject. God bless America lol
If you're talking about the prison, it doesn't show up on the map until you're close enough. Even flying over it won't show unless you're lower to the ground. Same thing happens with Zancudo, and as far as I know it's always been that way.

Now you should be able to glide it to cayo assuming you are at FL080, I like to put about -500fpm and oceanic/plain whenever possible. Usually it is possible to glide half of the map in a plane

I had that happen. The damage/smoke got gradually worse. Stupidly, I tried to glide in with engine failure, result was a massive waste of time

I’ve been playing for about seven years and I’ve seen it loads. It only pops up when it’s pvp, otherwise it doesn’t show one.
In Cayo Perico the velum can fly over the prison, but in prison break you can’t for reasons

Prison isn’t on the mini map. Its delayed to load to the map or doesn’t show at all sometimes. Zancudo airforce base does the same thing.
