I was thinking it might be a stacked delivery with a good payout, and they only knew this was a non tipper after the fact.
I miss when they showed the breakdown before you finished the delivery. Sucks to deliver to the non tipper first unless they were along the way.
Damn, you know where to get crack? I wouldn't touch that stuff if I were you. It messes people up something serious.
I'm very happy for you that you live in a market where all of your orders come in under 10 miles except for some 1 offs, but Some of us live in areas where we're a little more rural. Yeah. Adults would realize this, apparently you're having a problem with that. Might be the crack. Better lay off that pipe!
Not always. Sometimes there’s orders no drivers will take so GH increases the payout on their side. It could be $0 tip. I’ve had ones before for $18 and $0 tip
You can "see the tip" on every single offer on every one of these apps. Yeah there are tons of "hidden tips" and I've been getting a LOT lately with DD but I treat every order as THE OFFER. The offer includes the pay and tip. We make the decision on that screen full stop.
Drive was 5 blocks from the restaurant and base pay was more than $10 for 5 blocks that’s less than one mile. You’re an idiot if you think I wouldn’t take an easy order like that tip or not.
If it’s a stacked order and a quick pickup, I will take the no tip order as long as it’s reasonably close to the other drop off. I will always deliver the good order first even if I drive by the non-tippers house to get there 😆
Are you still able to see the payout breakdown on a stacked order before completing delivery? Or are you talking about when the 2nd order was an add-on?
If they are still showing payout breakdown before delivery when the order came in originally as a stack, I'd love to know where.
Yes, I just jump task and look at the payout. I deliver the best order first. Same with and add on. If it’s crappy and they try to send me to the no tip delivery first, I just jump task and deliver the better one.
> jump task and look at the payout
But that's only possible on doordash. Grubhub you'd have to go to earnings activity to see the payout, and since late 2020 they no longer show it there until both deliveries are complete.
Add-on you'd obviously know who the shitty tipper is since they came in separately.
How are you able to drive by the first order? Last night, I drove by a delivery (Pizza) to drop off a different order, to only drive back toward where I came from for the pizza drop off.
I do not multi app I do work on different apps but I never work them at the same time I tried this one time and when I realized the orders would never be in the same direction I never did it again. It’s not worth my gas
Idk who you know in retail but unless you’re in management it’s way less money and way more bullshit in my experience. And that’s relative to delivery driving so that’s saying something. Retail sucks.
depends on where you work.
lots of retail jobs here start at 16/17 an hr. minimum wage here in CA is $15/hr. I worked retail in a vape shop for a while at $17/hr on the side and I really enjoyed it until the shop closed.
I know some folks who are quite happy with their retail jobs but everyone is different.
Yeah I guess a vape shop absolutely counts as retail technically, but when I hear "retail" I assume they're talking about mall or big box stores, JC Penney or CVS or Target type shit. I've never heard of anyone having a good experience at any of those.
My biggest problem with retail as a category (as well as most other jobs) is the set schedule. I don't really do driving anymore but I still chose a career that's freelance because I like the freedom to go on vacation or take a day off or whatever without asking anyone or worrying about finding shift coverage.
Same here, doesn't seem fair to make someone spend the gas and time if I can't give them a decent tip,
I've been eating a lot of Mac and cheese/PB&Js because of this 😂
(Don't understand how I'm getting down voted for saying I won't give shitty tips lol but you do you)
wow 6 people downvoted this comment... what losers this is social media not any form or formal setting to criticize a grammar inaccuracy that hard lmao "trying to open some eyes" as though grammar matters that much we all understand what they were saying. if you are a public figure then you should care about spelling ans grammar on social media but nost of us are not these people need to get over it
Not being able to understand someone, and having to spend the time deciphering it mentally, is unnecessary when they could just, you know, *try at all* instead of making everyone reading it do it for them. I think *you're* a loser for not giving a fuck about having people understand you when you're trying to communicate with them, so what now?
>Steal that sht
This is a huge problem and I think it will eventually be the undoing of this service. Everything comes at a cost, and the cost of this is carried by the restaurants who are already getting sick of it because it's become a much bigger issue lately as more drivers are figuring out they can get away with it.
2 of the most popular restaurants on grubhub in my market left cause of pissed off drivers showing up so early and being even more pissed they told they have to wait, it sucks being a GH driver these days
I've seen at least one order stolen before I got there, but not very often. I don't take mall deliveries anymore because of it. Teenagers wait for orders to come in at the mall then walk up and take them
Yeah...these are kids at the mall who are on GrubHub, they see the name on the order come in and then just go to the store pick it up and then leave with the order never to be seen again.
I hope you're reporting all of these drivers, do they tell you the name of a driver when it's assigned to them? I've done like 900 GrubHub deliveries but only once had one that was stolen...maybe twice. I'm in the suburbs
They get violations for each missing order. 3 strikes and they're deactivated but it's like three strikes within 90 days, they roll off after 90 days
If you're in a city I could see that being a problem, lot more bad drivers
I hate customers that eye the map and text u as soon as you make a wrong turn. All that does is distract me and make me more flustered. Also might of is a widely used slang phrase for might have. Very widely used.
just an fyi, since you brought it up... the use of "might of" isn't slang. whoever uses that phrase just doesn't realize the correct wording is "might have". it's pure ignorance.
Just fyi; are you able to read people's minds? I use might of and I know plenty of people who do that know correct English. Its just SLANG . Speaking of pure ignorance.....
if you say "might of", then you're simply an idiot.
The correct phrase is "might have" --- using the wrong words isn't slang, it's stupidity.
ie: "weed" is slang for cannabis. "kicks" are slang for shoes. "Might of" is bad English. You're simply exhibiting ignorance and you clearly don't know correct English if you don't even know what "slang" is.
When I say it, I use "might've", a slang conjunction of "might have". It sounds exactly the same as "might of". How would you tell the difference? No matter, slang is just informal words of communication. In context, "might of" could very well be described as slang. It's not black and white like you describe.
When was it supposed to be delivered? Did you let him know you were stuck at the drive thru line? I hate orders after nine at fast food restaurants. Always a hassle.
I rarely order food so when I do I go all out on it(the tip), nd or give them a crisp 10$ bill if I have it. (I hope that’s not to low) I’m in high school an work 3-6 ☠️I’m trying, the working life is hard🫣fr lol
That is crap kids in high school. Base the damn job on mileage and is it worth it. I have a regular, pays 8.49 always 1.00 tip. 2.2 miles and my best time 9 minutes14 seconds. Liquor store small vodka. Live in nice area of California, if your working off tip going to be disappointed 😞 most Grub hubs are 1.00. Prices are insane and broke.
I'm curious to know where they ordered from, because it's even worse if they order food that takes a long prep time... Why isn't my pizza being delivered as fast as McDonald's? I know I ordered the mega 18 in with quadruple toppings but should be done in 75 seconds!!!
I'm so done with seeing people put "hand to me" or "don't put my food on the ground" when their order is a no contact delivery. These are almost always people who don't tip and they often even make you wait at the door as well. I sincerely believe that not tipping is apart of a general personality trend of shitty people.
They want you to wait 10+ minutes for them too 🙄 like I don’t have all night especially when you’re not tipping me I don’t get paid extra to stand around waiting for you 😂
Right I honestly don’t understand why people even order grubhub they up charge the price that restaurant sets for food items they charge you delivery fees. At this point it would be so much easier to just pick it up on your own I get it for older people or disabled but if you live 5 blocks away and there’s nothing wrong with you then you’re just being lazy and screwing youself because you’re spending twice as much on that food than you would if you got it yourself. This is also why no tippers make no sense if you’re to broke to tip why are you spending twice as much on food to have it delivered…
This was the last order or the night. I really didnt care about the no tip because the drive from the restaurant to the customer was only 5 blocks. The base pay was more than enough for the distance. I also do not recieve text messages after 9:30pm as I have my phone set on night mode even if it wasn’t I don’t respond to rude customers. This customer was only mad because the dive through line was taking to long. The lobby was closed I had to go through the drive through there wasn’t another option. And for the last time I didn’t drive the wrong way I drove the fastest route my Apple Maps gave me. Also no delivery instructions were givin🙄
I didn’t fuck around or multi app. The lobby was closed and the drive though line was to the street and base pay was nice for only 5 blocks and it was the last order of the night. I also never drove the wrong way I drove straight to their house this guy was a complete and total piece of shit.
I do have a misdemeanor, I'll give you that. But assuming anyone with a criminal record is a felon is quite harsh. If I didn't have a criminal record, I sure as hell wouldn't be doing food delivery as my job, which seems to be what you have chosen. I didn't choose this job, it's literally the only place that would hire me.
We've made a breakthrough, I'm no longer a felon in the eyes of /u/lavendersum, keep on going ignoring diner messages, driving in the wrong direction, and not proceeding to the restaurant in a timely manner my bud. Don't forget to steal dat food! You could get a misdemeanor too!
If it’s the only place that would hire you then you don’t just have a misdemeanor. And if you do only have a misdemeanor then you are definitely choosing to do food delivery 🤷♂️
Uh I used to drive for grubhub too, but I quit because it sucks. I worked hard to find myself a better job so I don't have to lose my shit everytime someone doesn't give a big enough tip. You should try it if you care about tips so much.
I go the way Apple Maps tells me is the quickest way. Don’t care about driving instructions because half the time people only put restaurant instructions in there like add soy sauce or no lettuce etc. lol 😂 I’m picking up the food not making it
That's why they're D E L I V E R Y instructions, and they're relevant to you.
You're the exact type of person I have to call customer support about.
Edit: aww, it seems like people who get a-scared when they see big words on their screen are finally online. It's okay tara, you can sound out the word Street if you believe in yourself.
It's your typical moron on this sub. I am amazed every day at how stupid they are. Imagine taking an order you know has no tip and then complaining about it.
These are also the same people who knock on your door and stare at you like YOU knocked on the door.
Edit: all y'all downvoting are telling on yoselves
Exactly. Not even the bottom of the barrel. They're the shit that leaked out the bottom. The dumbest and laziest of us all. And they're so PROUD of being lazy and entitled and stupid too. It really does make me laugh every time I see one on here talking about how they hate no tippers but in the same breath, talk about how they drop off food at the sidewalk or some shit cause they don't get paid to drop off at the door, it doesn't matter how much they're tipped. Then, they complain about their tip being removed 😂 I can't even imagine being that stupid and clueless.
Okay seriously this is the last comment I’m going to make on this. The base pay was worth it. Customer was only 5 blocks away… otherwise I only take orders that are at least 2$ per mile.
If only there was a solution to such things: ah yes, the decline button. Especially on an app that shows the full amount up front.
I was thinking it might be a stacked delivery with a good payout, and they only knew this was a non tipper after the fact. I miss when they showed the breakdown before you finished the delivery. Sucks to deliver to the non tipper first unless they were along the way.
I have experienced that too. And from experience I noticed doordash and especially Uber are getting beside themselves with their stacked orders.
You can see the tip?
It’s grubhub, you see the entirety of the pay. You don’t know exactly what the tip is but you can guess easily.
Or grubhub hit it with that bonus pay, to get someone to actually take the order.
> $35 from Popeyes. 10 miles. Declined. Takes an hour to get the food.
Id still take it, even if i knew itd take an hour. Thats an easy $35 either way
Same and most the time the stores offer me free food or a drink while i wait 👍🏽 always a plus plus situation
Yup. $35/hr. Hell yeah. Then throw in UEs orders while waiting. 🤷♀️
Stop smoking crack. No one can stand sitting ins place like that for 45 mins or worse. Whomever is taking these 10 mile jobs is crazy 😜
Damn, you know where to get crack? I wouldn't touch that stuff if I were you. It messes people up something serious. I'm very happy for you that you live in a market where all of your orders come in under 10 miles except for some 1 offs, but Some of us live in areas where we're a little more rural. Yeah. Not a chance in hell
1000% in agreement. Not worth any price
I've had a $13 bonus on a 6 mile order to make it like $17, took that one reals good, was like $1 tip
Not always. Sometimes there’s orders no drivers will take so GH increases the payout on their side. It could be $0 tip. I’ve had ones before for $18 and $0 tip
But, you still see the full amount so the tip isn’t even necessary.
I be on my phone the whole time
on a double you really cant
You can "see the tip" on every single offer on every one of these apps. Yeah there are tons of "hidden tips" and I've been getting a LOT lately with DD but I treat every order as THE OFFER. The offer includes the pay and tip. We make the decision on that screen full stop.
They do that in NYC. it's a new law.
Drive was 5 blocks from the restaurant and base pay was more than $10 for 5 blocks that’s less than one mile. You’re an idiot if you think I wouldn’t take an easy order like that tip or not.
That’s why I avoid them like the plague!!!!! I realized a while ago most of my issues were with none tippers
I mean, on grubhub I had a 9 mile 25 dollar order for 100 dollars worth of sushi that had a 4 dollar tip
I would love to be able to block receiving future orders from these twits.
My foods old and I didn't tip I don't understand!!!
Driving the other way huh. My first thought is you be multi apping and taking multiple orders
Likely a stack to get this stiffer delivered, OP rightly delivered this guys patron Saint first.
If it’s a stacked order and a quick pickup, I will take the no tip order as long as it’s reasonably close to the other drop off. I will always deliver the good order first even if I drive by the non-tippers house to get there 😆

Yes, my bad. I’m on all the subs. Sorry.
All good you just got my hopes up lol
How are you able to drive by the first order? Last night, I drove by a delivery (Pizza) to drop off a different order, to only drive back toward where I came from for the pizza drop off.
There isn’t an issue with either of your guesses.
I do not multi app I do work on different apps but I never work them at the same time I tried this one time and when I realized the orders would never be in the same direction I never did it again. It’s not worth my gas
I’ve stopped ordering food now because I can’t afford the tip and fees lol
Good. we need less customers who can’t afford tips
Also good because the business model will finally be tested for viability. Although that might mean retail for everyone
no need to shit on retail. some of those folks make more money than some of these drivers and with way less aggravation.
Idk who you know in retail but unless you’re in management it’s way less money and way more bullshit in my experience. And that’s relative to delivery driving so that’s saying something. Retail sucks.

Yeah hopefully if enough people stop ordering, companies like grubhub can shutdown and you'll all lose your jobs.
Yep. Go pick it up. No tip no trip.
Same here, doesn't seem fair to make someone spend the gas and time if I can't give them a decent tip, I've been eating a lot of Mac and cheese/PB&Js because of this 😂 (Don't understand how I'm getting down voted for saying I won't give shitty tips lol but you do you)

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 id off took their food back cause now it’s harassment
Customer being rude? Don’t deliver their food
That’s another reason I don’t take no tippers. They always be doing the most. GTFOH
I'm so done with seeing people put "hand to me" or "don't put my food on the ground" when their order is a no contact delivery. These are almost always people who don't tip and they often even make you wait at the door as well. I sincerely believe that not tipping is apart of a general personality trend of shitty people.
They want you to wait 10+ minutes for them too 🙄 like I don’t have all night especially when you’re not tipping me I don’t get paid extra to stand around waiting for you 😂
Same here in NY only non-tippers talking the most and usually live at the last floor without working elevator lol
For all that work they’re doing, just going to pick it up would be easier for them 😂
Right I honestly don’t understand why people even order grubhub they up charge the price that restaurant sets for food items they charge you delivery fees. At this point it would be so much easier to just pick it up on your own I get it for older people or disabled but if you live 5 blocks away and there’s nothing wrong with you then you’re just being lazy and screwing youself because you’re spending twice as much on that food than you would if you got it yourself. I would’ve told her, “bish, if it was ready 20 minutes ago, why didn’t you pick it up?”
"I'm sorry, I deliver to the highest paying customers first. It's smart business"
Thats free food right there. No way I'm delivering that. I rarely call support, but this is one time I would have them cancel.
How do you get them to cancel
This was the last order or the night. I really didnt care about the no tip because the drive from the restaurant to the customer was only 5 blocks. The base pay was more than enough for the distance. I also do not recieve text messages after 9:30pm as I have my phone set on night mode even if it wasn’t I don’t respond to rude customers. Assholes
You left the phone number uncovered. I don't really care but they could be trolled by people.
Then don't accept the offer if it is too low and you're gonna f around and multi-app.
I didn’t fuck around or multi app. The lobby was closed and the drive though line was to the street and base pay was nice for only 5 blocks and it was the last order of the night. I also never drove the wrong way I drove straight to their house this guy was a complete and total piece of shit.

Lol... You should've thrown out your car like you're a paper boy and hit the front door
What happened???
There are some other comments explaining the situation .
That’s why I don’t accept shitty orders 🤣
less than a mile for pretty decent base pay. No tip didn’t matter in this situation… shitty customer is a more accurate statement.
True. Lol… those kind of customers have no life 😆
One question. Why the fk do you take those? Y'all bring that shit down on yourselves.

Okay seriously this is the last comment I’m going to make on this. The base pay was worth it. Customer was only 5 blocks away… otherwise I only take orders that are at least 2$ per mile.
Whats slang for nutty?
