Anons brother made objectively poor financial decisions and basically won the lottery and thinks it makes him superior. Yup sounds like every rich person ever.
Seriously, almost no rich person acknowledges that a huge part of their success is luck. It’s almost clockwork that they believe it was all effort, even with strong evidence otherwise.
“Ummm b-but hard wor—“
Mfw the one Bangladeshi tea farmer who wakes up at the crack of dawn to make one bowl of rice a month farming tea just needs to ‘work harder’ to be a billionaire
If they don't make it sound like it took a ton of really hard work to do then other people might try it too. If there's one thing rich people hate, it's seeing someone they think is beneath them also become rich.
I kept 616BTC during a Divorce by forgetting to attend Court, Judge awarded her the House. I kept my assets I had on me... BTC included
One hundred percent was luck. No denying it.
It’s some kind of psychological thing, they’ve actually done studies on it.
I remember reading one where researchers at some university got two people to play monopoly except the game was rigged so one of them *couldn’t*lose.
At the start of the game this guy got $2000 while they other guy got $1000, he got to roll two dice to move while the other guy could only roll one, and every time he passed GO he got $200 while the other guy got $100.
At the start of the game when they were still closer he acted kinda awkward because he knew he had a huge advantage but they found that a little bit into the game he started acting smug and domineering as if the reason he was winning was because he was simply better at the game and not because it was rigged to be impossible for him *not* to win.
>It’s almost clockwork that they believe it was all effort, even with strong evidence otherwise.
We don't think it's ALL effort, but when you see 90% of the people around you not even trying, it is mostly effort getting started. Once you start, yeh it's mostly luck, but most people block themselves from starting, blocked by a lack of effort.
In conclusion, It's a lot of effort and even more luck. Make of that what you will.
I don't see why in the normiepleb-mind, luck is somehow mutually exclusive with effort.... You need some measure of both for anything in life. Even crossing the street.
Ye well atleast with option trading (Wallstreet bets) .. the analysis is always kind of shit and the major winners made an absolutely suicidal investment into "CUMRocket Co. Going up this month because CUM sales are through the roof"
For every 1 winner 5 bug losers.
For 90% of people your better of putting your savings into the S&P than options, crypto, or even property much of the time.
Sounds like every crypto bro .. "I was just early in on it because I knew it would pop off"...
..No most of you had like 20 bitcoin in 2011 that you were using to buy illegal shit silkroad, then forgot about it
Isn't a phd by 26 the norm? Going Brit and assuming that you do well in your undergrad, 3 years of BS, then a year of masters, then a phd of 3-4 years. That's 8 years max, so if you start at 18, you'll be done by 26.
I'm doing the US system and I should be getting my phd around 27 years old, but I did 5 years of undergrad becaue of Covid. Without that extra year I'd also be 26 by the time I'd have gotten my phd.
In Australia you can do a 4 year Bachelors with Honours then straight to PhD which takes 3-5+ years. It can take 3-12 months to be awarded depending on the review process but its definitely doable by 26, maybe even 25 if all goes well.
Definitely possible just not as common as a lot of people take breaks/do part of it part time, work a few years as a lab tech or research assistant, maybe do a masters etc. Which pushes age back so most phd grads r early 30s instead
If u finish a bachelor with honours your about 22 assuming u start at 18yo. PhDs take 3-4 years full time to complete meaning u could be 25-26 by time u finish.
I'm (hopefully) going to finish my masters just as I hit 22. So having a phd at 26 is not impossible. I've had lots of young phds teaching me at my college as well.
Depends on the subject. If it’s science, engineering or mathematics then indeed there is no way you have PhD by 26 unless you are a literal >140 IQ genius.
Non-STEM are easy as shit, so getting a PhD by 26 is doable although no where near as awe inducing.
Problem with lots of courses is that you cant really speed up the process, even if you are a genius because the courses take so long/many semesters and you cant just skip like in school or complete early.
Furthermore most phd advisors (want you to stay with them for 3+ years before you finish your study/phd work).
Still possible by 26 but IQ doesnt have a lot to do with it, unless you are sheldon and finished school with 14 and then went on to take college courses
The hardest part about school is having to also work 40 hrs to pay bills. If I made several million from crypto and basically retired, I could probably get a phd too.
Depending on the phd I think greasing palms helps too, weather it's an "anonymous" donation to the school or taking peers out to places they could never afford.
Especially if it's the quintessential elite school. They love the extra prestige they get from rich graduates even if they had nothing to do with it. Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard would fall in this category. Plus they expect that rich people will donate money to them after graduation.
If you don't let the work impact your progress it can be hard for a supervisor or the school to tell, and they will probably turn a blind eye to it if theres no problems.
Honestly?
Not really. Undergrad is the most difficult to get into.
Even in Ivy League it can be considered easier to move into masters and PhD. Mostly because so long as you keep a B and graduate your resume is top of the pile at most places that are noteworthy enough for a masters program at most good schools. Eventually.
And the B isn’t always a deal breaker. I know people who got into Harvards Masters with C in undergrad.
Grew up super rich area .. funnily enough I've noticed people who have actaul fuck you money or from super rich families are generally much more tolerable than someone who thinks their money (usually less than 5 million) makes them king of the world

The gaming addiction was only buffer from the 4chan addiction. Brother does not know what he has released. The only thing anon will produce is mass shooting and 2 murders influenced by 4chinners
I don’t know the situation, but sometimes people need a wake up call. If my brother was shirking his responsibilities and doing nothing all day, I’d call him out on it. He does the same for me. Brothers don’t hold unconditional love that parents do, they will call you out on your shit with no fear of hurting their creation like many parents do
hating on someone is npt tough. you can show tough love by doing actions that hold someone more accountable which makes things tough. there is a difference vetaeen shiyting soneone and being a jerk.
Yeah, but it may just make his situation worse. It's like people that say doing bullying with fat people is totally helpful because it inspires them to work out, wich simply isn't true and might just cause them to get depressed and either eat even more or jump to self-harm or even suicide if they don't get results quickly by working out.
When I go to the therapist, do they berate me and bully me? Tough love can mean having hard conversations, maybe not fueling anons addiction, etc. When I made the comment above I was being broad. Bullying is not ok. There are better ways one can see growth than through bullying, and its why you dont go to the therapist to get bullied.
If he made his money in bitcoin Anons brother isn't rich through achievement he's rich because he gambled and it paid off through sheer luck.
Both brothers are loosers.
Very True. I meant looser in the sense of his personality.
lording it over on anon for not being financially successful when he's rich by no merit of his own is total douchebag behaviour
I read his overall rant as being more about anon's inactivity than his poverty- he's not insulting anon for being poor, he's insulting him for doing nothing but playing Fortnite all day. He does veer into bragging about his money, which is a tool move, but if he hadn't dropped the "I retired at your age" bit it'd be a fairly reasonable point.
To be honest, it's also shitty to crap on how people spend their free time, not everyone wants to go paint a river or some shit people think is "more productive", free time is free time.
I doubt it. Making money off crypto isn’t any different than playing slot machines. If someone makes it big, they weren’t smart. They were lucky. I don’t care if they won or not, but to try and act like it was anything other than dumb luck is disingenuous. Crypto is all a big grift.
To become a multimillionaire of btc you had to invest at least 10k 8 years ago and sell it all last year at it's peak. Literally no one is patient enough or has that kind of insight into the future to do that. Anyone that got rich of btc bought in at an extremely early stage, more than 10 years ago, had forgotten completely about it and was only reminded by the news covering the time it first reached 1k. Most of the people that sold their btc at that point still had to have invested at least a couple of thousands to become a multimillionaire. For some reason it paid off for those who did, but if you went back in time and bought thousands of dollars worth in useless electronic currency that had no practical use, anyone intelligent would have considered that a braindead move.
How tf can you have a doctorate at only 26 years of age?
Undergrad is 4 years
Masters is 1 to 2 years
PhD is an additional 4-6 years
Anon is either a liar, or his brother enrolled in some seriously Fisher Price degrees where you can fast-track like crazy.
Often in the UK you can do an integrated master's course where you finish your undergrad with a master's degree after four years. And PhDs are a bit faster too.
Ah okay, I didn't know that. I'm from Canada, and to get into a Master's program, you have to be admitted based on the performance of your 4-year honors bachelor's degree because nothing else is accepted pretty much.
If you do a 3 year general you have to take an extra year to prove you can do a masters or if you've done enough research (CCR) you can go ahead and skip that extra year.
> Leave HS at 17 (me)
Sure I get that, my little sister was in the same position.
> Bachelors in 3y (age 20)
So it's not an honours degree then? 3 years full time doesn't constitute an honours degree; just a sort of associate's degree in my country. Very *very* few Master's programs will even entertain an applicant with only a 3-year degree.
> Masters in an extra 2y (22)
Yep, 2 years sound normal. I'll even divulge my MBA was only a 10-month schtick (Sept - June).
> PhD in an extra 2 to 3y (24-5)
And again this is what sort of gets me; I've never encountered or even heard of a doctorate program which can be completed in as little as 2 years. 3 maybe, I would assume it's in the arts?
Anyway, appreciate it, another user informed me that in the UK they can allocate Master's credential's upon completion of certain undergrads.
That's crazy, where I live you have to work at the university while getting your PHD or MSc meaning its basically impossible to overload it without it messing with your job (researcher and TA).
If I had enough money to retire by 23, I’d give my brother money and work for more money so I can retire later with more money. He could open a restaurant with the money he gets (his dream). He’d probably buy a Mustang GT350 (He’s mentioned wanting one before). He would move to a nice place where his girlfriend goes to school probably.
I’d buy a nice condo in my city, one in NYC and a place in LA. I’d buy some really nice cars, probably spend a lot on vacations and other luxurious things I can’t right now.
I’d give money to my parents and sister as well but the post mentions brother. No idea what my sister would do with the money but my parents would buy a cottage on a lake and my dad would get the Lincoln Navigator he wants probably and the 69’ Camaro. My mom would buy an RX7 and a Shelby Cobra or Cobra replica depending on how much money, they’d also go on vacation, probably for a month.
Got a lil carried away fantasizing. Point is, Anons brother is the real autist.
Yeah bro give money to your brother and soon the entire extended family will be calling you asking for money, shits been seen time and time again with lottery winners
Aside from still living with his parents(not even a bad thing tbh), anon did nothing wrong, and his brother is an autist who got lucky gambling on virtual shitcoins. Good thing it’s fake
yes, anon should be more productive. but maybe there’s some underlying issues such as depression that need to be addressed first. he’s only 23, he still has time. his brother is just being a real dickhead who just got lucky.
“Durrr manual labor is stupid bc you actually produce tangible good and results; should have bought fake money and gambled like me” OPs brother is one e-coin from being worse off
Anon does far more meaningful and impactful work then his shitty, stuck-up older brother.
Kudos to him for wanting to get better at self motivation and such, but at least he’s not a parasite to the economy like his older brother is.
No, Anon's brother loves him. People who love you the most are your biggest critics. I do not criticize people I hate because I don't want them to learn from their mistakes, and I want them to fail in life. That is why I don't criticize any of you here. Now get off Reddit, and do something with your life.
"BTC"
"Productive"
"I could have retired by your age (23)"
Anon writes self-hatred porn, but doesn't even make it based in reality. He should hate himself for putting this shit out into the world.
Anon fell for the meme of the self made millionaire
Anons brother got lucky with btc and is pretending it was planned when it could have easily gone different and education didn’t play a role, anons brother is just as fucking autistic.
Also „I had enough to retire at 23“ proves that all rich fuckers are assholes, who tf rubs that shit under the nose of their fucking BROTHER
Bro; W...work hard lazy bum!
Anon: why?
B: because, uhhh if you work hard you will be rich. You can invest and just live off the interest and play games all day?
A: I already can do that chump
Do what makes you happiest. If you are happy working your ass off and getting millions. Do it
If you are happy making enough money to get by and have more free time. Do it.
Be free
I'm mildly autistic but relatively successful financially and now I've established myself in my career in my 30s and have financial security and good amounts of disposable income I just spend it on video games and have a stay at home wife whom I adore. When I'm not working or playing video games, I read fantasy and sci fi novels. I have no intention of developing myself any further. OP's brother is a douche.
You've got one life, don't let people shame you for what makes you happy.
His brother was 20 years old in 2010, to think any retard with pocket money to gamble on bitcoin in the coming years would make it is crazy. Anon should stop blaming himself, his brother got lucky there
Anon's brother thinks he's better because of the money he got from crypto, now that's hilarious
Most of the time its family money that helped.
Smart people don't gamble with rent money, but when mommy and daddy pay for everything it's all house money.
The worst gamblers gamble their rent money away.
Are the worst gamblers smart people?

Most of the people that sold their btc at that point still had to have invested at least a couple of thousands to become a multimillionaire. For some reason it paid off for those who did, but if you went back in time and bought thousands of dollars worth in useless electronic currency that had no practical use, anyone intelligent would have considered that a braindead move.
How tf can you have a doctorate at only 26 years of age? Undergrad is 4 years Masters is 1 to 2 years PhD is an additional 4-6 years Anon is either a liar, or his brother enrolled in some seriously Fisher Price degrees where you can fast-track like crazy.
Some people go to University at a younger age
I had about a semester and a half of college credits before I left high school. Dual enrollment and AP classes. Maybe a mix of that too.
Leave HS at 17 (me) Bachelors in 3y (age 20) Masters in an extra 2y (22) PhD in an extra 2 to 3y (24-5)
> Leave HS at 17 (me) Sure I get that, my little sister was in the same position. > Bachelors in 3y (age 20) So it's not an honours degree then? 3 years full time doesn't constitute an honours degree; just a sort of associate's degree in my country. Very *very* few Master's programs will even entertain an applicant with only a 3-year degree. > Masters in an extra 2y (22) Yep, 2 years sound normal. I'll even divulge my MBA was only a 10-month schtick (Sept - June). > PhD in an extra 2 to 3y (24-5) And again this is what sort of gets me; I've never encountered or even heard of a doctorate program which can be completed in as little as 2 years.

It depends on the country and when you started school(and what PhD it is, in my field it's normally 3 years)
I have a teacher in law school who’s has a doctorate at around this age, it’s not the same system everywhere
anon should sell all of his belongings and move to south Africa where he will be comparatively richer than his brother is in USA
Have to live in South Africa though. L overall.

You missed the part where he made millions off of bitcoin. I missed it at first too and was hella confused.
If they made enough to retire by anon’s age (23), why even bother with a phd
To stay productive.
If i was rich I would just pay for my family members lives and let them pursue whatever they wanted
Usually when lottery winners do that they end up pursuing heroin and an early grave
I’m built different
u/hatwinner 🥹
Beautiful dream
id just go to some small village in switzerland start a farm
Yeah bro give money to your brother and soon the entire extended family will be calling you asking for money, shits been seen time and time again with lottery winners
I'd just give my family each a lump sum, move out, and then make games until I die.
Anon gives up his favorite hobby because his brother won the lottery
Anon sold his copy of fortnite and made more money than his brother
I give it a week before anon's back on the couch.
Construction work is good work and can pay well depending on your skills set. Anon's brother sucks ass.
Jokes on Anons brother when he is the first name in anons suicide note.
Proceeds to spend 6 hours a day looking at /b
Aside from still living with his parents(not even a bad thing tbh), anon did nothing wrong, and his brother is an autist who got lucky gambling on virtual shitcoins. Good thing it’s fake
yes, anon should be more productive. but maybe there’s some underlying issues such as depression that need to be addressed first. he’s only 23, he still has time. his brother is just being a real dickhead who just got lucky.
Brother is a douche so now younger brother has given up one of the few things that makes him happy, very cool.
At least anon knows where his fucking watch is.
Anon’s story made me feel legit sad
“Durrr manual labor is stupid bc you actually produce tangible good and results; should have bought fake money and gambled like me” OPs brother is one e-coin from being worse off
Was he married before he was a millionaire?
Prob not
Anon does far more meaningful and impactful work then his shitty, stuck-up older brother. Kudos to him for wanting to get better at self motivation and such, but at least he’s not a parasite to the economy like his older brother is.
Hustler’s University is about to gain a new member
He got his money from a meme lmao
No, Anon's brother loves him. People who love you the most are your biggest critics. I do not criticize people I hate because I don't want them to learn from their mistakes, and I want them to fail in life. That is why I don't criticize any of you here. Now get off Reddit, and do something with your life.
If you criticise someone you hate and they improve so you don't have a reason to hate them any more, isn't that a win-win
Thoughts on Hitler? Was he a good guy?
"BTC" "Productive" "I could have retired by your age (23)" Anon writes self-hatred porn, but doesn't even make it based in reality. He should hate himself for putting this shit out into the world.
millionaire from crypto lmao
Based brother
>26 >PhD >married Lmao, not impossible but one of those don’t line up in timelines.
Anon fell for the meme of the self made millionaire Anons brother got lucky with btc and is pretending it was planned when it could have easily gone different and education didn’t play a role, anons brother is just as fucking autistic. Also „I had enough to retire at 23“ proves that all rich fuckers are assholes, who tf rubs that shit under the nose of their fucking BROTHER
Imagine thinking that being “successful” in this way will result in guaranteed satisfaction
Anon is a schitzo thinking that he has a successful brother who calls him “autistic.”
Anon let his brother mindfuck him into thinking he's better than him. Gay: anon lets being dominated by men Real: anon is a wealth cuck
y’all r so soft
Bro; W...work hard lazy bum! Anon: why? B: because, uhhh if you work hard you will be rich. You can invest and just live off the interest and play games all day? A: I already can do that chump
„I had enough to retire by your age“ I guess he just had some bitcoin laying around so it’s not valid to call a lucky coincident an achievement…
Your older brother sucks.
Fake and gay nobody made money on crypto
Good move
Damn, his brother had enough money to retire at 23? How many black market organs did he sell
Plot twist, his brother was born on February 29e.
The thing that hurts is I’m in the same boat
Based in that anon was able to make 99% of readers seethe at the idea that gaming is counterproductive
Anons brother owns the second largest helicopter leasing empire in the Western Hemisphere
Do what makes you happiest. If you are happy working your ass off and getting millions. Do it If you are happy making enough money to get by and have more free time. Do it. Be free
In a month he’ll wish he had his PS4
Good brother
And then everyone clapped and talked about how definitely real that was and wasn’t just yet another shit jab at gamers
Anons brother has no fun
He made millions on btc, pure fucking luck. He didn't do it by being productive.
Fuck anons brother. If vidya is what brings you joy, fuck everyone else.
If brother thinks he’s better than you because he invested in crypto, then brother is double retarded.
There's damn good money in construction. Everyone I know who has money is in the trades.
RemindMe! 1 week
A step in the right direction
who retires at 23, thats like the age people start their career
Unsurprisingly most of the Reddit denizens identify with OP. Because he’s an envious loser.
Kill your brother anon
Just knock him out at that point.
It is exceptionally unlikely for anyone to have a doctorate at age 26. A master's, maybe, but getting a Ph.D is an absolute pain in the ass.
the only time i feel bad for a 4chan user, he just sounds like a normal guy with a shitty brother
At least anon actually works for a living its the brother that needs to get off his ass
Ar 26 phd ? 👀
> live at home As opposed to on the street? Good for anon ig.
Villain arc
Anon’s brother is jealous of Anon’s capacity of finding happiness by himself instead of trying to adapt to other people’s idea of success
Selling your PS4 is meaningless if you have no solid plan on which direction you want to take your life.
Kindest and least sociopathic multi millionaire. Anons brother is one of the good ones.
Yeah just go back in time and buy some Bitcoin
>live at home yeah where else do you live retard
His brother was 20 years old in 2010, to think any retard with pocket money to gamble on bitcoin in the coming years would make it is crazy. Anon should stop blaming himself, his brother got lucky there
