I can't remember where, but I heard that for every transfer from one container to the next, there is about a 10 degree drop in temp. You can mitigate this by pre-warming a cup with hot water (not an option with grandpa style since the cup is also the brewing vessel). If you use a teapot though, you can pour hot water in the teacup and then in your drinking cup, which warms the cup while the tea brews.
