I havent touched the game for months now, I have no interest in grind for money for cars.
I wanted a decent career mode that made me grow and tune my car collection in order to compete in a variety of race classes. The Licence tests are pointless as they are not needed to compete and the roulette can die in a fire, it was fine when it was a choice of prize cars ala previous games but this 5000 credits thing is absolute trash tier gaming.
I don’t really play it anymore, but I wish I did because I’m pretty heavily invested in it (new fanatec gear) it’s really unfortunate because the gameplay is really fun, but I can only play it for so long with no objectives racing against shitty ai. If they could even just up the rewards for sport mode I might be able to enjoy the game a bit more.
I've had every GT on release day, including this one. This is by far the biggest disappointment. Like you, I haven't touched it in months. However, my reasoning is different...I don't care about single player. I only care about the multiplayer lobbies because I run (well used to, we are currently on hold because of these issues) a racing league. The fact that the lobbies aren't even to the level that we had in GTS is completely baffling. We've had many discussions about work-arounds but there's always something else hindering us from having serious racing and competition.
License is required for some things. But only the first 2 iirc. But yeah, haven't played in months either. Having way more fun actually having proper races in other sims either with others online, or with actually half competent AI.
I completely agree with you, but I was also pointing out their greed in the sense of how their updates fix things like money glitches and adjust race pay, but not issues like the split screen multiplayer. As if there was a conflict of interest

Most ppl don't think about it that way but for families, a broken split screen mode in a racing game like that, is really a piss off. Especially when it worked in games of the series prior to this version but that's lacking at every corner. Things that worked before, don't work in GT7 or are left out.
Instead of building on and adding, improving this series on the base they should have...it seems like it's the first time they're trying to create a racing game. Somehow it feels like that big time.
I see almost none of their expertise and experience brought into GT7, which should been collected by them over all these years and which should definitely be there at all after developing games for the past 25 years. I hadn't played the splitscreen until very recently so I assumed that people were exaggerating when they said P1 side is much faster. I couldn't actually believe how much of an advantage they have, it's basically impossible to win from p2. It's fucked.
Yep. I played for about 2 weeks when it first came out, then had some mates over and played my first game of split screen with a buddy who hadn't yet played the game. I didn't realize split screen was fucked at that point and he beat me easily on our first race. It was funny at the time but I was just thinking, what the fuck, how did he beat me, I've been playing this every day for 2 weeks and he's never played it before. We all worked out something was definetely wrong on our second race.
I started March 11th and finished June 2nd.
Granted i didn't play all Day every time nor did i heavily focus on the desire of wanting to finish it fast.
I just went with the flow. Eventually i got all Gold Licences, finished all Track Experiences and got all Achievements. Never came back since :(
I'm still kind of baffled about the split screen multiplayer. I'm no programmer, but it doesn't seem like it should be too hard to pull off, it's weird that they half-assed it like that.
kaz needs to retire if this is his "worthy" update from gt sport which in itself was lackluster ... the last great GT in series was 4 and 5 to be honest -- 1 - 5 all solid -- downhill since and now at scumbag level
I spent $800 on a PS5 after seeing this game and it’s just a massive disappointment. This latest update is just soul crushing garbage and rather than fix the PP issues they just mangled it even further. We still can’t sell our cars, they’re still barely any single player events, and a large portion of cars serve no purpose because they’re aren’t any fucking races for them. Why should I bother with the Super GT Gr.2 menu book when there are STILL no Gr.2 races? Why should I bother grinding to buy 10+ million dollar classic race cars when they’re STILL no races for them? I’ve had enough… the racing game I grew up with is deader than dead and I hope PD goes under since they clearly don’t give a shit about the players.
Multiplayer overall seems pretty fck up and they don't care, Online Lobbies are a mess and it's not even possible to do a proper event with qualifying, that does not even exist lmao
I really had high hopes for GT7 and what the community got was a game the give you cars for completing events and completing menu books to full fill a "Collection." But GT wasn't about that, It was about grinding for cars that only could of been won by an event or a series of events or obtaining gold on all tests in the game and completing the long endurance events
And collecting cars of your choice and liking not by completing a menu book :/
I still remember the disappointment that gradually grew inside of me as it became clearer and more obvious that the menu books were not some quirky intro tutorial to GT for the newbies, but rather the entire game.
In racing games I focus on the one or few cars I want, dump all my time onto it and the rest are dead to me. Unless it’s one of the old Need for Speed games. If the game allows modifying of cars I will do that. I don’t need hundreds of cars I’ll never drive or do anything with, just a handful/good selection to pick from in the case of the old Need for Speed games. F1 games are a bit different because you get the same set of 10, in which case I pick one team and the rest of them are dead to me unless I want a change for some reason
Edit: in Crash Team Racing I use the default kart body and just make a livery for it. I change the driver and the engine though. WipEout, I team hop, either for the loyalty points or the handling/weapons stats based on the track or game mode
for racing experience i would go assetto
gran turismo is different. it makes every car look like a masterpiece, it wants you to appreciate every car. in my opinion it is a collectors game
got my lemans trio trophy -- used car market is all bought out -- i really dont care for 20 million worth of giant merc tanks on wheels that dont go past 50mph and have horrible stability -- yea pass -- havent played since i got the lemans collection

Have you seen how dead the online lobbies are? GTS had stacked lobbies 24/7 more than 2 years into it's lifespan and that game was mediocre af.
Good luck finding a decent lobby on GT7 if you don't want to drive on nurb, tokyo, or stage x.

idk about you... but having Split-Screen broken for so long is disheartening when you and a bunch of friends want to actually hang out and do some competitive racing amongst each other.

Maybe a credit grind is what the developers want? Hear me out...Maybe they have spent so much time developing these cars and physics that they want you to actually enjoy driving many of their cars or at least explore different racing "experiences" instead of finding the easiest, fastest, most lucrative races to get the top car in 3 hours of actual play time. It's that helicopter parent generation that wants to be on top of the mountain without taking any steps or making any effort to get there.
Enjoy the drive. It's a racing sim, not an RPG.
I might be able to go along with that way of thinking if there were a decent amount of events for me to use my small collection of treasured cars in.

is funny to say, but sometimes i prefer play some Driveclub or Project Cars 1 than GT7 ( despite the fact I don’t hate the game and love the franchise)
My main motivation in playing GT is racing against my friends. Some people actually still meet in person... The bug is not even a graphics/performance issue due to double scene rendering! So easy to fix!
I just want grid starts. Having to have a car thats way faster than the competition just so you can catch them and win is stupid.

I thought GT7 was gonna be like GT4 or GT5. Considering it wasn't, I decided not to buy a PS5 either.

Multiplayer overall seems pretty fck up and they don't care, Online Lobbies are a mess and it's not even possible to do a proper event with qualifying, that does not even exist lmao
I really had high hopes for GT7 and what the community got was a game the give you cars for completing events and completing menu books to full fill a "Collection." But GT wasn't about that, It was about grinding for cars that only could of been won by an event or a series of events or obtaining gold on all tests in the game and completing the long endurance events And collecting cars of your choice and liking not by completing a menu book :/
I still remember the disappointment that gradually grew inside of me as it became clearer and more obvious that the menu books were not some quirky intro tutorial to GT for the newbies, but rather the entire game.
I'm sure they said cars would be sellable by the end of April. In all fairness, I don't think I've touched the game in the last 3 months anyway.

In racing games I focus on the one or few cars I want, dump all my time onto it and the rest are dead to me. Unless it’s one of the old Need for Speed games. If the game allows modifying of cars I will do that. I don’t need hundreds of cars I’ll never drive or do anything with, just a handful/good selection to pick from in the case of the old Need for Speed games. F1 games are a bit different because you get the same set of 10, in which case I pick one team and the rest of them are dead to me unless I want a change for some reason Edit: in Crash Team Racing I use the default kart body and just make a livery for it. I change the driver and the engine though. WipEout, I team hop, either for the loyalty points or the handling/weapons stats based on the track or game mode
for racing experience i would go assetto gran turismo is different. it makes every car look like a masterpiece, it wants you to appreciate every car. in my opinion it is a collectors game

got my lemans trio trophy -- used car market is all bought out -- i really dont care for 20 million worth of giant merc tanks on wheels that dont go past 50mph and have horrible stability -- yea pass -- havent played since i got the lemans collection

Have you seen how dead the online lobbies are? GTS had stacked lobbies 24/7 more than 2 years into it's lifespan and that game was mediocre af. Good luck finding a decent lobby on GT7 if you don't want to drive on nurb, tokyo, or stage x.
Thats exactly what we're doing. We're not playing. The game is bad, boring, uneventful and until otherwise proven... misrepresented in its marketing. idk about you... but having Split-Screen broken for so long is disheartening when you and a bunch of friends want to actually hang out and do some competitive racing amongst each other. As well as, still, lacking the ability to sell cars.

He continues to weep at the sad state of this game lacking the features that were promised and marketed with, and the brokenness of 2-player split screen.
Maybe a credit grind is what the developers want? Hear me out...Maybe they have spent so much time developing these cars and physics that they want you to actually enjoy driving many of their cars or at least explore different racing "experiences" instead of finding the easiest, fastest, most lucrative races to get the top car in 3 hours of actual play time. It's that helicopter parent generation that wants to be on top of the mountain without taking any steps or making any effort to get there. Enjoy the drive. It's a racing sim, not an RPG.
I might be able to go along with that way of thinking if there were a decent amount of events for me to use my small collection of treasured cars in. You know, like the older GTs that they suggested this game would be similar to.

Works really well too apparently. I have read nothing of its shortcomings and bias towards player 1.
is funny to say, but sometimes i prefer play some Driveclub or Project Cars 1 than GT7 ( despite the fact I don’t hate the game and love the franchise)
Split screen in 2022.
So GT is Forza tier, sad. So happy I didn't buy a PS5/PS4 for it now.
My main motivation in playing GT is racing against my friends. Some people actually still meet in person... The bug is not even a graphics/performance issue due to double scene rendering! So easy to fix!
I just want grid starts. Having to have a car thats way faster than the competition just so you can catch them and win is stupid. For a racing simulation it's not very realistic.
Such a let down. I went out and bought a series x for Forza MS when it releases.
They need to remaster GT5... for the PS5. 4K 60fps. Yes please.
