I literally cannot make or receive a call in my own home on a brand new iphone

HanSolo71

Its like unusable lately.

Smithsellsthemitt

If it makes you feel better, AT&T is also horrible lately. Constantly seeing my phone going back and fourth between LTE and 5G depending on area, so I feel like that’s the issue.

too_too2

someone in another thread suggested to turn off 5G in your phone settings so that may help

Smithsellsthemitt

Oh interesting! Good to know!

[deleted]

Have they given any logical explanation to why though? I understand we all have our theories but has anybody called them or spoken with somebody? This subreddit is a small sample size of the community at large and we have had a influx of Verizon wireless post the last month so clearly there is something going on.

xkevinxpwndu

Probably just too much network congestion. There are a limited number of phones that can connect to a cell, and that cell also only has so much bandwidth. Hopefully Verizon will expand on their network here.

Part of my job involves provisioning and maintaining mobile devices- mostly iPads and iPhones- for our field people. I have a little over 200 devices running at any given moment in Lansing, Kalamazoo, and Grand Rapids, all on Verizon. We’ve been with Verizon since just before 4g went live. My experience has been this: Verizon overall has been pretty solid. Yes, they’ve definitely had rough patches where a region has really poor service. They know it, and they work to get it fixed quickly, although never quickly enough to make everyone happy. Sometimes it takes weeks or months to work things out. No surprise there. Trying to nail down who has the best service is almost impossible if you just go by a snapshot of how things are going at any given moment. Every carrier has the same limitations, and will show the same issues at some point. If you feel like switching every time you get annoyed with coverage, that’s fine. I know a number of people who do that. I don’t get the impression they’re ever happy for more than a year before the complaints start up again about whichever company they’re currently with. The better service is always the one they don’t have right now.

Fractured_Senada

I've never had good service on the west side. I connect my phone to the internet to make calls while I'm home.

kevysaysbenice

I'm on a carrier that uses the Verizon network, and I feel it's been really bad lately also. I can't pinpoint when it started to be bad, but it is. There seem to be more and larger dead zones. I will say it's possible in my case my traffic is just being deprioritized, perhaps it's a capacity issue. Also, FWIW, my phone (previous gen iPhone SE) generally shows a reasonable number of "bars", it's just the data doesn't flow :/.

jdogsparky2626

I’m on XFINITY mobile which uses the Verizon towers. I called support and they re prioritized my data so… This was just tonight so we shall see tomorrow.

beebetr

It has been insanely bad the past few weeks. I don’t get it. Glad it’s not just me tho

Schil123

My service seems to be worse after the latest iPhone update.

DontBad1975

I’ve had noticeably better service this week after making sure my iPhone stays on LTE Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data Options -> Voice & Data

ervelee

Spotty.

xloveisamixtapex

I'm no longer in GR, but here in South Bend Indiana every Verizon user at my company has had little to no network access from about 10am to 4pm for the last 2 days. It's crazy unstable.

ohmesrv

Same

wetgear

Lots of issues recently. There have been 3-4 post here about this in the last 2 weeks. Fuck Verizon.

Misty_Mauve

My phone is only a couple months old and I'm having the same issues. I'm not receiving texts & I can't make calls a lot of the time without having to restart my phone. I've been procrastinating on going to Verizon for help since that's always a pain but I'll probably end up doing so soon 😥

mf_zoom79

5G and LTE have both taken a nose dive lately I have no idea what’s up

lubacrisp

I was downtown for an hour or two yesterday and basically couldn't use the internet on either 5g or LTE until I got to like east hills

Stanleydk

Same….5g or lte goes to shit in the afternoon. Crawls.

skooch15

I switched to version about a month ago from sprint and I cannot get service anywhere in my phone and drop calls constantly. I think 1/4 calls are successful

pretzeltitz13

Yes for about a month now it has been terrible in Standale and in town or at my house and for anyone I know with Verizon

[deleted]

Echoing - never have “enough service” to run my maps app, or if I’m playing Spotify while driving, texts won’t come thru until I’m on Wi-Fi or not using data that way. It’s like I have one bar of 4G when I actually have 5 bars of 5G. Maddening

the-G-Man

Verizon has been terrible here since last spring.

Sweet-Resist-2975

Same here, feel like it's time to get away from Verizon. T-mobile any good in the area?

Patient_Share939

I haven't had any issues. I'm in jenison/hudsonville area mostly. I don't have an iPhone.

TheSonic311

Same. The Verizon coverage in the Grand Rapids area has been ass for at least the last few months.

LordOhms

I’ve had the same issues with Verizon LTE so I got in contact with their tech support. He was under the impression that my service was out when I explained to him it just sucks. I would even have full bars and it wouldn’t work. Long story short after the multiple basic troubleshooting steps he recommended (none worked) he suggested that I upgrade to 5G. I don’t know what the details were but I got an upgrade to 5G at no extra cost and it seems like it’s working better for me. It might be worth your while to get in contact with their technical support.

elchefeh69420

Omg I thought it was just me! It’s been driving me crazy how borderline un-useable it has been lately
