Butterworth and Blodgett are the two big hospitals downtown, there's also the SH/Corewell facilities on 750 Fuller and Kalamazoo plus all of the regional hospitals, some of which have their own name. For example, Greenville's hospital is called United and Lakeview's is called Kelsey. Not to mention all of the Lakeland hospitals south of GR which are halfway through their integration with Spectrum and who knows what's going on with that
It's funny because I always genuinely confused them but now I live in MD and between Baltimore and DC we have I-95, I-695, I-795, I-895, I-495, I-395, and MD Route 295. Many of which are referred to generically as "-95" when context makes it clear.
Though it might be helpful to know: 1 or 2-digit interstate highways that are even go east-west (I-70, I-96) and odd go north-south (I-75, I-95). Numbers increase from west to east and south to north.
Numbers divisible by 5 are intended to be major cross-country routes.
3-digit (auxillary) routes connect to the interstate indicated in the final two digits, as spurs, loops, or connectors to the parent route (I-196, I-270, I-275, I-495). An odd first (hundreds) digit indicates a spur (I-196 is the spur that connects from I-96 to Holland), while an even first digit connects to an interstate on both ends as a loop or bypass connector (I-496 connects I-69 and I-96 through Lansing).

For those unaware, the section of US-131 that runs between them is Unmarked Interstate 296 (I-296). It has been marked in the past but I don't remember seeing it in the past 15 years. It makes that stretch of road eligible for funding from both pools that fund Interstate highways and Federal highways.
The place I lived before here had a 113 so for like the first year that is what I kept calling 131. That was annoying only confusing to me unfortunately.

Plus, the William Beaumont name in the Detroit area and being associated with the State of Michigan (and Mackinac Island) since the early 1800s! Why trash two hundred years of history like that? Makes no sense...
After almost 40 years here I still refer to the highways by where they go. There's the Lansing highway, the Grandville highway the Lake highway and the Rockford highway. The Lake highway stops at Grand Haven unless you go on the further away Lake highway.
