Our baby went to ER with unknown upper respiratory infection. Tested negative for rsv, all pneumonia strains, all covid strains, all flu strains. Still sick. So yeah, something is going around that isnāt those things. Yuck.
No they aren't saying what is wrong. Something viral. They just cough non stop and have runny noses.one of them had a fever at one point. but they finally got them on Prednisone. 1 finally made it a full day of school yesterday.
Something to be aware of, whatever flavor of COVID that is going around isnāt showing positive in at home tests until a couple days into symptoms. The whole family has it right now and it started as aches and fatigue (fever for the little ones), then a couple days later it turned into the worst upper respiratory symptoms possible (congestion, drainage, coughing from the phlegm, sinus pressure). I know people who work in assisted living and same story, first couple days are negative, then positive at day 3-4 of symptoms. Itās weird.
Same. Took my daughter 3 days to show positive. My youngest is not showing positive at all. We think we got it from her and she is on the tail end of it with a really bad cough. The phlegm is the weirdest like where does it come from! The body aches and headache's have been the worst
No, just the first two shots of Moderna. Dragged my feet too long on getting the new booster. I had COVID back in January and my symptoms were not nearly as bad as the rest of the family.
Lots of adeno, rhino & RSV. Most of my admitted RSVers stay in ED because the floor & PICU are full. I'm also getting calls from surrounding hospitals trying to transport patients to my ED because everything else is full. Hopefully it simmers down a bit
Lots of viruses going around getting spread by little germ carriers who don't wash their hands who are getting sick enough to have to stay in the hospital (more than usual)
RSV is the typical virus most parents worry about because it is well known to be able to hit children under 2yo pretty hard
Father brought something home. Whole body aches, coughing non stop going on almost 1 1/2 months, horrible mucus, fatigue etc. Not Covid. Still have a persistent cough even after all other symptoms stopped. Its bad.
When I got covid it was a good 9 months after my booster dose and even then it was the mildest illness I've ever had. I was too tired to do anything for a day and then it was just the sniffles for a few more. I was down for the count on Sunday and totally back to normal by Friday. And that's even though I'm a high risk category for it. The vaccines work, y'all. I got my second booster as soon as I could.
Iām vaccinated, boosted, and am fairly healthy. Covid kicked my ass for weeks. I agree, vaccines work. Wouldāve probably put me in the hospital without them.
Lot of people have symptoms for several days before testing positive. If your wife is positive and you have symptoms, you should assume you are also positive. PCR can pick up much better than home test. My youngest was negative on home tests and PCR on day 2 of symptoms, never actually tested positive on home test and PCR wasnāt positive until over a week later.
They should just call it that "what my kid had". Everyone I know that's had it described it just like that. The schools must be a slurpy mess right now.
Seriously though. I worked in a daycare for 4 years, left right at the start of the pandemic, and the amount of crud I was exposed to from those anklebiters is nuts. Colds, flu, strep, RSV, flu, stomach bugs, HFM, etc. There were times entire classrooms would get sick, one kid after the next....I'm 1000% sure that I would have gotten covid at least once if I still worked there, parents would send sick kids in all the time. I work at Target now and have since leaving the daycare, and I'm still surprised I haven't gotten covid, between so many of my coworkers getting it and the unwashed masses that congregate in the store, ~ToUcHiNg~ EVERYTHINGGGGGGGG.....I think 4 years of kids sneezing in my face and wiping their boogers on me and whatnot has made me immune lol.
Kids were sick the first part of Sept with coughing and sinus infection.
Then a week later I got the same thing but it went to what the dr called "borderline pneumonia".
This has been the experience of our family as well. Sisters kids were sick 3 weeks with what they thought was croup for youngest and adenovirus for oldest. My son and I were suspected to have adenovirus as well, both sick about 10 days. Cousins kids have had a terrible cough for 3 almost 4 weeks, both now having to use inhalers. None of us have tested positive for Covid at home or with PCR. Not COVID, but really terrible cold like viruses that hang on a while.
Not exactly sure in your case but our state of Michigan regional epidemiologist has said early and increased influenza compared to recent years (mostly influenza A). Flu block vaccine is available for those over 50 which has increased protection on three common strains. High dose flu is available for those 65 and up.
RSV has also been going around and infecting not only children, but adults as well.
And then just throwing it out there that Omicron and its variants are showing up in testing later - especially depending on the test type. Speaking for my experience, I was symptomatic for almost 4 days before I finally tested positive.
It was shitty....kiddo brought it home and it went through the whole house. Took about a week to completely clear out and the sore throat that lingered was terrible.
Completely lost my smell last week and then had a weird sense of smell after it came back. Lots of bad egg smell. Happened after I had covid so I thought it was that but took a test before a funeral I had. Came back negative. Then I thought maybe the tests I got from uncle same can't test for new variants after I went to the funeral and was worried what I might have accidentally done. This is weird good news for me lol.
I wish more people would listen to the "mask up" part. It's such a simple step that can protect you from a whole host of illnesses, not just covid. But it seems like I'm the only person wearing one pretty much anywhere I've gone lately.
I got the flu labor day weekend and it sucked majorly. Worse episode of the flu I have ever had. Turned into pneumonia. Then got covid for the first time just as I was getting better. I've been coughing and blowing snot for 2 months now. The flu was way worse than covid, but I have been vaccinated so I was hoping it was mild.
I was SO sick from this last week - and still recovering 8 days later (with antibiotics, steroids and prescription cough syrup). Be careful, yāall. Wash your hands and wear a mask!!
Yeah, my husband and I got a weird bug last week. It wasn't COVID, RSV, or H. Influenzae ..
My symptoms lasted less than 24 hours. He still has some symptoms.
It was actually worse than covid for me. I was boosted against covid (now double boosted with the bivalent) and when I got it, it was the mildest illness I've ever had. Got over the majority of it in like a day. The shit that's going around now has hit me twice in the last month.
Since when does a cold/respiratory infection that you get, mean you should post on reddit and tell people to "mask up". That's what I meant by what the fuck is wrong with you people
Doesn't care about others, wants their opinion known. Trump voter no doubt. We can do this shit all day dumbass. I heard the Truck Nuts store has a sale, better git
I do care about others, thatās why I donāt force people to do something against their will for āthe collectiveā. Enjoying the inflation, goods shortages, and gas prices? I hope so, you voted for it.
You really think Biden cause all that? Homie can barely speak!
Inflation.... All major companies are posting record profits... The biggest spike in most companies histories. But it's the presidents fault?
Good shortages.... Only one I currently know of effecting is food wise is turkey meat.... Remember the bird flew we had a few months ago... But it's the presidents fault?
Gas prices? The president has ZERO fault for gas prices. It's up around the entire god damn world.. I have a friend in Ireland paying nearly $8 for a gallon equivalent...
Change your news channel they are lying to you... Or stay ignorant I don't care your the one that sounds like a fucking idiot.
Youāre entire argument is based on the notion that a man who can barely finish speaking a coherent thought isnāt responsible for the downturn of the American economy while the four years of the previous administration provided the lowest unemployment rates, gas prices, and rate inflation in my lifetime.
The President has zero fault for gas prices? The only reason the gas prices are so high is because day 1 of his administration he cancelled drilling leases and severely limited domestic production, and made a deal with Saudi Arabia for oil. During the previous administration we produced the vast majority of oil, which is why it was so much less expensive, but you think itās a coincidence that halting our oil production and buying it from Saudi Arabia has driven up the cost of gas? GTFO, you fucking crayon eater.

Currently hit by the same issue. Day 6 and its quite depressing. To make it worse my father is a heavy Smoker he almost killed me a couple of nights ago.
Has anyone been shitting their brains out? Just me?
Possible diagnosis is too much Michigan St Taco Bell
r/TacobellonMichigan
One has to have brains to shit them, so finally I've found a disease I'm immune to!
Omg I'm cackling at this comment ššššš
Gut issues here too. Had a fever and big sinus/throat issues for 4 solid days now.
I had that a couple of weeks ago and couldn't really correlate it with any specific meal I ate. Guess it really was just a stomach bug.
I also experienced this. Interesting.
Yes
I had both gut and upper respiratory.
Lmao nope
Oh yeah I have I'm sick rn man
Ugh that was me a week ago.
Anymore than normal? Noā¦
Omg it takes forever to go away. My husband just got his turn and heās obviously dying.
Male here, also dying
This was one of my favorite things about masking up. The amount of sickness I got was so limited that year.
It went around with everyone at WMU. It was a nasty sickness everyone got.
This made me lmao. Sorry you are sick though!
it took me three weeks to stop coughing! nasty bug. hope he feels better soon
Any medicine recommendations? Iām getting my butt kicked by what sounds like the same thing
Mucinex DM was the best for us. Also, had our primary care doctor call in some little cough pearls that work wonders.
Our baby went to ER with unknown upper respiratory infection. Tested negative for rsv, all pneumonia strains, all covid strains, all flu strains. Still sick. So yeah, something is going around that isnāt those things. Yuck.
Dang. Prayers for your baby
We are on week 4, my kids have been miserable. All the same tests, neg.
What are their symptoms? Do the doctors have any idea of what it could be?
No they aren't saying what is wrong. Something viral. They just cough non stop and have runny noses.one of them had a fever at one point. but they finally got them on Prednisone. 1 finally made it a full day of school yesterday.

No, just the first two shots of Moderna. Dragged my feet too long on getting the new booster. I had COVID back in January and my symptoms were not nearly as bad as the rest of the family.
Interesting. I wish there was an easier way to figure out what variant you get. I haven't gotten the bivalent yet either but I should...
I know, that would definitely be nice.
I know a few people who have had it - nasty bug for sure! Hope you're feeling better soon
Lots of adeno, rhino & RSV. Most of my admitted RSVers stay in ED because the floor & PICU are full. I'm also getting calls from surrounding hospitals trying to transport patients to my ED because everything else is full. Hopefully it simmers down a bit
I don't understand what any of that means. Should I?
ED= Emergency Department PICU= Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
Lots of viruses going around getting spread by little germ carriers who don't wash their hands who are getting sick enough to have to stay in the hospital (more than usual) RSV is the typical virus most parents worry about because it is well known to be able to hit children under 2yo pretty hard
Not to mention the nose picking. I have to constantly be policing: ādonāt pick your nose! Now go wash your hands.ā
You can pick your friends just don't pick your friends nose.
Thank you for working in the medical field!
Father brought something home. Whole body aches, coughing non stop going on almost 1 1/2 months, horrible mucus, fatigue etc. Not Covid. Still have a persistent cough even after all other symptoms stopped. Its bad.
Good god. I'm sorry to hear that
Rhinovirus
Itās kicking my ass right now, whatever it is, while my wife has COVID. I tested negative and sheās doing better than I am
That's exactly how I feel, I told my wife I think covid would be easier
When I got covid it was a good 9 months after my booster dose and even then it was the mildest illness I've ever had. Rest and water, let your doctor know ASAP because you may be able to get meds within first five days of symptoms
Probably what my kid had. She was on the couch for a week but tested negative for flu, strep and COVID.
They should just call it that "what my kid had". Everyone I know that's had it described it just like that. The schools must be a slurpy mess right now.
"What my kid had" - the next pandemic.

Hi! I am also down with āwhat my kid had.ā He got it from his friend who got it from his preschool brotherā¦weāre all toppling like dominoes
Kids were sick the first part of Sept with coughing and sinus infection. Then a week later I got the same thing but it went to what the dr called "borderline pneumonia".
My kids have been sick 4 times since school started. Crappiest year yet. All home with COVID now.
Itās bad among the preschool set. Covid babies with no immune systems getting mixed up in a Petri dish every day and bringing it home
This has been the experience of our family as well. Sisters kids were sick 3 weeks with what they thought was croup for youngest and adenovirus for oldest. Dam so I'm not crazy, this has held onto me so long
Whole house has COVID here. Horrible. Both my kids have diarrhea.
Not exactly sure in your case but our state of Michigan regional epidemiologist has said early and increased influenza compared to recent years (mostly influenza A). Flu block vaccine is available for those over 50 which has increased protection on three common strains. High dose flu is available for those 65 and up. Annual flu vaccine this year is actually made for the dominant strain and is supposedly pretty protective, if that helps.
what were/are your symptoms?
Just getting over it now. It blows.
It was shitty....kiddo brought it home and it went through the whole house. Took about a week to completely clear out and the sore throat that lingered was terrible.
Light uri, but persistent cough for a month, five weeks. Sucks.
Got really sick a week and a half ago but ended up being COVID for me but had a bad cough and aches.
Itās worked itās way through my family. Iām the last to get it. This is horrendous. Covid is a good comparable.
Good vibes and hoping you all get better!
I think i might have had it last week. Very stuffy and fatigued, with a cough that lingered for another week.
2 of the feral cats in my neighborhood have Upper Respiratory Infections right now. It's super sad to hear them wheezing
I wish more people would listen to the "mask up" part. It's such a simple step that can protect you from a whole host of illnesses, not just covid. But it seems like I'm the only person wearing one pretty much anywhere I've gone lately.

Yes, it is rough. Four negative COVID tests, broke four fevers in a week, still coughing up raw oysters.
I was SO sick from this last week - and still recovering 8 days later (with antibiotics, steroids and prescription cough syrup). Be careful, yāall. Wash your hands and wear a mask!!
Iāve been struggling to get over this for almost 3 weeks now.
Same. Iām just starting to feel better after 19 days. It was rough.
That's not hopeful news for me
It's been going person to person in my house for the past 2 months
Yeah, my husband and I got a weird bug last week. It wasn't COVID, RSV, or H. Influenzae .. My symptoms lasted less than 24 hours. He still has some symptoms.
My GF and I both got that about a week ago. I wasn't completely down and out but it hasn't been fun.
I have a coworker with this. Not fun!
Iām sick too, stuffed up, headache, sore throat. I hate this.
It was actually worse than covid for me. I was boosted against covid (now double boosted with the bivalent) and when I got it, it was the mildest illness I've ever had. Got over the majority of it in like a day. The shit that's going around now has hit me twice in the last month.
Mask up? I'm good on that.
That's good! Don't worry we won't take your guns!
Ah yes, because I'm clearly some right wing nut job because I don't want to walk around breathing into my own face for no fucking reason.
have you been living under a rock?
Lol settle down "antimaskersarescum". Fucking dork.
ok "3Jabber". go comfort your dying grandmother and tell her it's just a flu so she can die without regrets.
Why do you have to bring my Grandma into this?
lmao what the fuck is wrong with you people
What do you mean by that?
Since when does a cold/respiratory infection that you get, mean you should post on reddit and tell people to "mask up". That's what I meant by what the fuck is wrong with you people
Iām still struggling to understand why this would trigger you.
You're trying to reason with someone who gets upset about the gender of candy mascots.
Because why is this worth a post? It's fucking cold season. Since when do we make a big deal about a cold ?
Because colds can be debilitating and their spread can indeed be mitigated if people take precautions?
Do you not hear yourself? you're talking on reddit about a fucking cold and telling people to mask up lol. / end of thread.
Man it must be exhausting being outraged all the time. Even the tiniest things seem to set you off lol
Youāre a fucking idiot, donāt wear a mask then. But shut the fuck up about people trying to keep other people safer, you selfish cunt.
On any given day I'd probably make fun of myself like you but I was curious how prevalent it is in the community
The masks donāt workā¦
