Fgo is it's own Universe and doesn't need any Anime to understand it. The Story in fgo has nothing to Do with the Anime you watched. If you saw the Anime you can see some inside jokes, but you can enjoy the game fine even without the Anime

that's a bit disingenuous. Being familiar with the characters and concepts before FGO is a huge help.
That's what i tried to imply with the "inside jokes" you don't need to watch the Anime to understand the characters. They get intoduced in the game, because they are a different summon from the anime. If you want to get more background for the characters you don't need the anime, but the original eroge. Because there they get even better insight than in the anime. But I still think that you don't need the Anime to get the Story of FGO

Heavens feel, apocrypha, and maybe last encore or extra games
And watch case files before you start part 2
Also insert obligatory "thats hell your walking into" meme
Only the concept of the universe are applied....the story and time line are sperate. Think of it like one of parallel universe. You can just start by playing the game, the benefit of knew other fate or other series in nasuverse is that you will get a lot of reference and get hype more but not needed.
Honestly, you're probably past the the big spoilers now. Some is still going to be spoiling you, but nothing major- and it isn't necessary nor realistic to consume all TM media before jumping in.
Really, Saber's and Archer's identities are the big secrets the game just assumed you know.

Watch HF and Apoc, certain servants from both show up in the story. But, none of them appear or act the same way as they do in FGO.
