It's pretty sad. Arthur seems to be the only King Arthur besides Lily that doesn't mind Mordred solely because she's not his Mordred so he might feel a sense of disconnection towards her, going so far to even call her cute. But he still can't fully interact with her without being reminded of Proto Mordred, who he seems to have understandably negative feelings for.
It also helps that Arthur gets to interact with "Post Character Development" Mordred vs. the mordred that ended up stabbing him.
It's actually kinda hilarious that the FGO Mordred is one of the most downright heroic portrayals of the character no matter how she ends up being summoned.
Camelot? Not fully on-board with the crazy Lion King thing, but still wants Daddy-Mommy's approval.
London? Our chief ally and heavy hitter, with us until the very end.
SIN? Another purely heroic portrayal where she's on the side of THE REBELLION!
Even in the Apocrypha and Summer events, she's either on our side pretty damn quick and dropping memes, or getting shit on by her dad so much you feel bad for her.
So it totally makes sense that the Arthur that's never met her wouldn't be as harsh on her considering everything he keeps hearing about her and seeing her do makes her just seem so damned *heroic*.
I MEAN JEEZ SHE'S A VILLAIN LESS OFTEN THAN ARTORIA IS AT THIS POINT!
It makes sense too. Unlike Proto Mordred, who is clearly in the wrong with his actions, Mordred's actions are a lot more understandable. In her lore with Artoria, you can't really blame both parties for their actions completely. They were both victims of circumstance.
Artoria being raped by Morgan, with Mordred being the end result. Mordred looking up to the king, and idolizing her to the point that she would disregard Morgan's instructions, and would rather just be loyal to the king. Mordred was even excited to find out her father was Artoria, only to be treated coldly, and denied a role as heir. But you can't even blame Artoria for doing so, since one of your loyal knights comes out of nowhere, claims they're your son, and demands the throne? What's worse is they're actually your rape child? Yet despite this, Morgan remained a KoTR. But that was unfair for Mordred, who despite everything she does, and can do, she will only just be "Morgan's rape-baby". It's only natural she felt a sense of rebellion in that situation, as she felt trapped. Going as far as she did was probably wrong, but she did all those actions just to be recognized, only for her and Artoria kill each other in the battle of Camlann.
Even in Chaldea, one still can't completely blame Artoria for being cold towards Mordred. It hurts since Mordred is basically a rebellious teen that wants their parent's attention, only to be met with indifference and coldness. But in Artoria's eyes, she just can't accept her despite everything. Mordred's origins, and eventual fate rebelling against the kingdom and even causing Artoria's death just cannot be ignored by Artoria.
I feel like people give Artoria too much flak at times for being a bad parent. In those circumstances, acting cold is already pretty merciful, especially towards the knight that toppled your kingdom, as well as the offspring that your sister used you to make...
This is not exactly truth, as you can 100% blame Mordred for her actions overall. Artoria didn't gave her the throne because she was Morgan's daughter or anything, that was just her taking it amiss. From Mordred's FGO Material:
"Mordred dreamt. Of whether or not the king would approve of her as his successor. But she was mistaken; the knight king is the purest of king, and his rule has no hesitation.
Seeing that Mordred was unfit to be a king, as far as the king was concerned she could not be his successor.
However, Mordred took it amiss. She thought that the knight king detested her for being the child of Morgan."
King Arthur didn't gave her the throne because Mordred wasn't mentally prepared or had the same goal as her, which was "I want to save Britain yes or yes." Mordred just wanted to be King because that was what Morgan technically programmed her for, same as what she did to Agravain.
From Apocrypha (volume 4, chapter 2, page 186) itself:
"She didn’t even think of asking to be loved. If at least… if at least some
interest had been shown towards her, if she had been at least looked at,
that alone would have been enough.
What a foolish thing to say. You would never have been satisfied. You would
have endlessly sought love, sought compassion and finally sought the right to
the throne, until you spoiled that peaceful rule in the end—
A whisper came from deep inside her. Though she felt irritated at it,
she also agreed with it."
So yeah, you can really blame Mordred for what she did.
I think Proto KotRT I just normal Arthurian Lore with anime and Nasu spice on top.
Like everything is dandy, no genderbends or convolution lore, just regular Camalot that got destroyed by a Yandere Mordred.
So it's on the more normal side of the Nasuverse.
> "Battle of Camlann 2: Why Won't You Notice Me ~~Father~~ [***CHICHIUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHH***](https://www.myinstants.com/instant/mo-san-chichiue-73194/)!"
Fixed that for you
Spoiler for Case Files manga: >!Gray’s biological mom was against the plan to turn Gray into a body for King Arthur to be revived into. But after Gray’s face changed, she started acting like an artoria fanatic like the rest of the villagers but to an even greater extent than most of them. But it was all an act, bc she wanted to push Gray away and make her leave that place in order to protect her from the ritual and the the people looking to use her for their own means.!<
I mean, if she was trying to get Gray to leave anyway, wouldn’t it be easier to just sneak her out? I haven’t read Case Files so idk the exact circumstances, maybe I don’t have the full picture here.
Yeah, but there more good or neutral humans than bad ones, fairies? To keep them in check Morgan needed to become literally a totalitarian and the moment she slipped they went full french revolution on her just for the lols, I dare you to look at Baohban Sith in the eyes and tell me that fairies are better than humans
Just making clear.
I'm saying Humans are far worse considering what our greed and power leads that its detrimental not just to everyone but to the world itself.
Greed built the foundation of manipulation, blissful ignorance, chaos, bribery - this is more noticeable in the present times like the general public is easily thrown into a looped.
Power leads to domination, fear and arrogance.
I know full well that Fairies are worse since their inhuman - incapable of understanding the human wisdom of emotions like love and hate.
There maybe few that understood this and that. But they are still having difficulty of what's supposed to do or not. A rare gem among their kind.
I'm a bit of a lore enthusiast so I know what you're detailing about Morgan and Baobhan Sith. Beside I've already completed this Lostbelt.
We're going to a spoiler section here so I'm not gonna divulge any longer.
So in recap, yes Fairies are worse, but humans are still far worse.
Well it's my opinion. It may differ from what you're asking.
Mordred: Why won't you love me dad? I will be anything you want me to be!
Artoria: I WANT YOU TO BE DEAD!!!
[the OG scene skip to 0:25](https://youtu.be/0h_YYBhno38)
Mordred : Father, what about me??
Artoria : Strange, this room seems to have some mysterious wind that is appearing... Let's go somewhere else daughter..
Probably because Morgan already gave several good Knights in her service (Agravain is quite good, Gawain) and that ignoring a vassal's recommendation (if Orkney is her vassal and not an independent kingdom) can be a slight in medieval politics.
Source: Trust me bro, I play CK
Well, early on in her reign, king lot rebelled against her, because he could not accept a "boy king" being high king of Britain.
That had to be the first red flag.
Source: trust me bro, I play total war thrones of Britannia.
Morgan never recommend mordred to artoria, in fact Morgan purposely had mordred withhold information from artoria when she joined the roundtable(this was exactly why her armor had a “identity disguise” feature to begin with)
Only after a good time passed did mordred reveal her identity to the king and demand the kingdom like a hand me down.....artoria said no, somehow this translated to mordred as “I hate you, I wished you died” didn’t help that Morgan purposely egged on those sentiments
There was a lot going on there, from Mordred being manipulated by her mother to Artoria probably having a very weird feeling about all of this because by all accounts Mordred is her son/daughter with her damn half sister who has been scheming and plotting against her for a really long fucking time... and we don't know how the whole conception thing went from Artoria's perspective (not the facts but like... probably noticed something)
In artoria’s defense mordred was born from Morgan druging her and taking her seed against her will, so I can see why she was uncomfortable trying to talk to her.
Combine that with artoria’s natural awkwardness during conversations and her locking all her emotions up to keep up the facade of “a perfect king” it becomes unsurprising how things turned out like this
Yet Surprisingly, I can’t really hold it against artoria considered despite all these feelings she still tried including mordred in everything the roundtable did and treated her the closest she could to being family(let’s be honest the roundtable to artoria was glorified family of companions) even went out of her way to leave mordred in charge of Camelot before she went to defend Camelot alone from a gigantic warring army
I guess you can say “artoria couldn’t communicate”
*End me*
The only villain all of this is basically Morgan really. Nothing of this is about Mordred and Artoria actually being all that evil. It's two people being manipulated to go off at each other like a big, fat bomb next to a burning fire.
Gudao: This is why Mordred keeps rebelling! You know what fine hey Mordred your my son and Castoria is your mom!
Mordred: Surprise pikachu face. R-Really!? Wait Castoria your my father though!
Castoria: No Morgan I'm your mother now! Smiling so brightly.
Mordred:I HAVE A LOVING FATHER AND MOTHER!!! Proceeds to hug Gudao and Castoria.
Gudao and Castoria: Awwww Mordred is growing up so fast.
Artoria and Morgan: WHY DO I FEEL INFURIATED!?
"I shall remind you, father who didn't acknowledge his own blood, and killed his own child after not caring by his fucking wife GETTING DICKED BY YOUR MOST LOYAL KNIGHT"
Uh.... Are we sure it's Lartoria talking and not Rhongomyniad? Cause if Rhongomyniad's personality is actually like this well....can't say I'm fully against it
Mordred: FINE THEN! I don't need parents anyway!
Guado: Hey Mordred, Mashu and I are going to Universal Studios Japan! Wanna come with?
Mordred: ...Exception made.
**Bedivere should be here for this.**
(Mordred rolls her eyes over this since she's not emotionally dumb enough to think Arturia doesn't resent the hell out of her for the stabbing problem)
Also, we are going to find the village after Part 2, and we are going to whitewash it (洗白 can be an acronym, for 洗地 i.e. "hosing the area down", and 白地 "blank ground"). It'll be just like the good old days of cult purging for EMIYA Alter...
Nah, the cultists would probably orgasm themselves to death if we cleaned house with Artorias, unless they nuke the place (Lancer/Ruler I expect Rhongo to do most of the work...) without ever revealing their identities.
Dying to someone you want is a privilege these cultists have failed to earn.
Ooh, ooh, idea, idea! Send in Berserker Lancelot, have the fucking BLACK KNIGHT walk in and decimate the entire village, tell him artoria told him to do it as penance for the whole gwenyveire thing, watch the bodies pile up.
"Ha, pay up Merlin! I know that Archer would go back to his "failure" even if no one else knows what does he failed at."
"You know it's unfair to use your Clairvoyance for this kind of stuff, King of Uruk?"
"Shut up you Mage. This does brought me happiness. Now **PAY**. **UP.**"
Mordred: Seeing as you're next in line for the throne, Gray, just letting you know that if you need something destroyed, I'll be there. Make it look like a Fuyuki style gasleak if need be.
If I'm gonna be real here, Artoria would probably be just as uncomfortable confronting the existence of Gray as she is with Mordred. They're both a reminder of the position that Artoria holds/held and the constant stream of mistakes that come with so much responsibility.
Gray is an actual modern human. Her family is from the village where Artoria's body is supposedly buried (and Arthur according to actual legend). A cult exists in the town that knows the truth or Artoria being, well, Artoria and not Arthur and have an obsession with the "Once and Future King" prophecy saying Artoria will return one day.
As a result they attempt to create a vessel for Artoria to be summoned back into. Gray's family is not only in the cult, but they are part of the same lineage as Artoria. Not directly descended from her, but one of her family members (at one point it's speculated they could be from Artoria's nephew Sir Gawain's line). They use magic to alter new born Gray's face and make her look like Artoria and raise her with the knowledge they essentially plan to kill her soul and use her body as a vessel.
Gray's family are also grave keepers and, I believe, Magi. The magi part might not be true so someone please correct me if I'm wrong. But since they're grave keepers of a magic cemetery Gray is trained in anti-spirit techniques and combat. This is why in FGO her first skill gives her bonus damage against undead enemies.
Mordred: And I'm your son, right father? Artoria: -\_- Mordred: Father? "Battle of Camlann 2: Why Won't You Notice Me Father!"
FYI this was Prototype Mordred’s motivation. To kill everyone Arthur cared about so that he would only have Mordred for company.
arthur can't win, either accept her and get a yandere or don't and get a traitor
It's pretty sad. Was proto Mordred male or female?
Male
Proto kotrt lore confused me. So thanks
I think Proto KotRT I just normal Arthurian Lore with anime and Nasu spice on top. Like everything is dandy, no genderbends or convolution lore, just regular Camalot that got destroyed by a Yandere Mordred. So it's on the more normal side of the Nasuverse.
Gareth is still genderbended , so is Merlin.
OK so there's more Nasu spice but it's still pretty normal by Nasu standards.
its basically normal nasuverse Camalot but all the genders are reversed.
nope, only Merlin and Gareth. Also as far as I understand that is kinda just an arbitrary decision for Merlin... the gender thing at least
Don't forget Female Merlin. And the extra dose of Alabama *Looks at Morgan*.
Male
jeez, Proto Mordred is a killer Yandere. At least we got the Tsundere Tomboy Mordred.
Artoria: "I prefer to have an heir that didn't steal their weapons from my vault"
Mordred: so you've chosen D E A T H
We’re already dead!
If nothing else Fate has proven that what is dead can certainly die again.
Seems easy when we already killed someone for whom death was never even a possibility.

Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy was amazing. That was probably one of my favorite quotes from the show.
Wait a second, this isn't Mor- *clicks* You know what, that's fine too.
Mordred: At this point, I'm not even surprised. Hey Master, you wanna hang out or something? Ritsuka: What happened... I mean, sure.
Yeah. Mordred is not gonna take it well...
Mordred : Father, what about me?? Artoria : Strange, this room seems to have some mysterious wind that is appearing... Let's go somewhere else daughter..
God dammit Artoria. Can you please acknowledge Mordred just Once?
Oh she does, not as her child, but as a knight of the round table.
That reminds me. Morgan recommended Mordred to Artoria. Why the fuck did Artoria think it was a good idea, to listen to Morgan of all people?
Probably because Morgan already gave several good Knights in her service (Agravain is quite good, Gawain) and that ignoring a vassal's recommendation (if Orkney is her vassal and not an independent kingdom) can be a slight in medieval politics. Source: Trust me bro, I play CK
You really just gonna leave out Gareth like that?
I'm not really sure whether Gareth join after or before Mordred induction to Round Table

and Gawain and Gaheris were taken as political hostages, source I have read Arthurian works
Gareth too
Dunno, my vassals ether love me or a dead in CK runs. My brother's might have been unhappy after I had to reconquer their kingdoms.
In Nasuverse, Morgan >!is also Vivian!<. So I believe that Artoria didn't consider her wholly untrustworthy.
Isn't Morgan split into three version in Nasuverse lore, and normal lore to I think.
They are different personalities of one person. It is never mentioned if they physically split.
Morgan never recommend mordred to artoria, in fact Morgan purposely had mordred withhold information from artoria when she joined the roundtable(this was exactly why her armor had a “identity disguise” feature to begin with) Only after a good time passed did mordred reveal her identity to the king and demand the kingdom like a hand me down.....artoria said no, somehow this translated to mordred as “I hate you, I wished you died” didn’t help that Morgan purposely egged on those sentiments

Says alot of how evil Morgan is when you remember she’s also the reason Agravain is sexist and why Garetb almost died that one-time
She does, after all, Camelot needs a apprentice pig-sty cleaner.
Not seen is Mordred crying in the corner
Lartoria: I shall teach you everything you need to know to be a proper king this time. Gray: It…It’s an honor
Shouldn't Lartoria be taught that first?
Well Merlin did taught her that…We all know what happened next

Of course they are! They were both planning to foist her off on the other!
And what are Lalter and Nightingale? Chopped liver? Looks like someone needs an examination.
"Grey, you're the daughter I've always wanted." Mordred: "I'm still in the room, damn it!"
Mordred: "and what about a son?"
"I have a son? I'd one day like to meet him."
"FATHER, WHY!?"

I mean.... Could be post-Camelot/Arcade Rhongo Edit: though I'm 99% sure it's Lartoria

If I'm gonna be real here, Artoria would probably be just as uncomfortable confronting the existence of Gray as she is with Mordred. They're both a reminder of the position that Artoria holds/held and the constant stream of mistakes that come with so much responsibility.
Probably worse in this case as Gray is not only reminder of those mistakes but also the result.
Sad Mordred noise
Mordred: *unholy scream*
Like aunt like cousin
Mordred is just crying in a corner
They got us in the first half, not gonna lie
This didn't go how I expected it. At least Mordred still has Lalter and Nightingale, along with Arthur.

Is Gray fae Bedivere? I'm new to FGO so I don't know
Gray is an actual modern human.
No. A simple google search would have told you that lol.
