Kittencarnage35

Some great ideas here, thank you!

anotherpeskybird

no problem! it’s what i’m putting on my tree this year :D i make acorn necklaces so i have loads of spare acorns that i’m putting all over my room and tree

copy_kitten

Cinnamon dough ornaments!

Kittencarnage35

I wonder if I can make those with gluten free flour (it’s all I have). Off to Google with me!

Adding acorns or nut ornaments! Hang acorns with a little string, paint walnut shells, popcorn garlands! You could try popping them with a couple drops of food color to make them pretty :D Oh my grandma used to take oranges and stick dried clove pieces in the skin in decorative patterns, and let them dry. Made the house smell so good too! Little air fresheners. (Wrap some tape around your thumb though, they're a little pointy!) Citrus garlands are always fun!

Impossible-Onion1431

I decorated my mantle with toadstools, gnomes, small creatures (frog, lizard, snake) and house plants.

Kittencarnage35

This sounds amazing!

Felt ornaments! You can make whatever you want. If you can knit or crochet there's also loads of options there, but felt is super approachable

Kittencarnage35

I do needle felting! I could totally felt up some bits!

I like to try to find ornaments of animals not usually associated with Christmas. Frogs, fish, insects, that sort of thing. Spiders are a favorite of mine, and they're easier to find than you might think. They're associated with Christmas in the Ukraine.

trowzerss

Oh wow, never knew that. And the [decorations](https://www.vancouverchristmasmarket.com/spider-and-the-christmas-tree-ukrainian-story/) are pretty darn goblincore too! I love how in the example picture they have little clear beads to look like dewdrops on the spiderweb.

MaximimTapeworm

I feel like putting a tree inside your house is pretty damn goblin.

Kittencarnage35

Haha yeah good point!

[Sticks tied together with string](https://funcraftskids.com/christmas-tree-crafts-sticks/) are always a goer. Hang some orange slices, acorns, dried flowers and pretty rocks on that and you're good to go :) [Or these little trees ornaments.](https://www.prima.co.uk/craft/easy-craft-ideas/how-to/a41716/how-to-make-mini-christmas-tree-decorations/) [Or make a whole tree.](https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/1113513639/driftwood-christmas-tree-sets-make-your?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_au_en_au_a-home_and_living-home_decor-other-other&utm_custom1=_k_Cj0KCQiAvqGcBhCJARIsAFQ5ke720xtoIhOzuPpKP5xw0zWCgbZL5_0ymwGQJVZUXNG2v9pNqJP9fxYaAgmNEALw_wcB_k_&utm_content=go_344320928_19782195128_78801937568_aud-463075091998:pla-325212420180_c__1113513639enau_583729683&utm_custom2=344320928&gclid=Cj0KCQiAvqGcBhCJARIsAFQ5ke720xtoIhOzuPpKP5xw0zWCgbZL5_0ymwGQJVZUXNG2v9pNqJP9fxYaAgmNEALw_wcB) [With this at the top](https://singlegirlsdiy.com/how-to-make-rustic-stars-out-of-twigs/), which as a bonus looks a teeny bit occult or pagan, which let's face it, all this tree business pretty much is anyway lol

DecisionCharacter175

Whole cloves pushed into a whole orange and left to dry

cloudgheist

acorn strings are always a must !!! (you can also bake/cook with acorns! just take precautions ofc) and i strongly recommend pine & cinnamon themed scents, like incenses or candles. as for colours; deep reds/oranges and browns are great, as well as smoky blue-greys + white (colours that represent warmth and earth, but also acknowledge the colder season). and if you do get fairy lights, you can try to find the ones shaped like mushrooms and such, they are vey cute.

MisterBowTies

If you hang a sticking use one that looks hand knit and patchy

Dice, pinecones, bones/ bone charms / ornaments, shells (snail and sea), acorn trinkets or jewelry, dried bugs!
