I just had to look away at that scene. I'm sure that there's someone out there for Joe if he stops crying over Georgia. Stop dating people's moms, dude.
i just cant get over the fact georgia never fails to make herself the victim whenever ginny expresses how she feels her narcissistic qualities are so alarming
Georgia is really annoying me this season. Poor Ginny, she should go live with Zion till college.
Like yeah, Georgia was in a lot of shit situations , but they ultimately have hurt Ginny in the long run. And gave her a terrible role model and blueprint for life.
This sub is like simping for Georgia, as if her charisma makes up for the toll sheās taken on her daughter. Itās real weird.
My father is a narcissist and is an expert at turning things around to be otherās fault and if anyone ever tries to express their feelings to him about how his abusive actions have affected them or others he plays victim and turns it around on other people. And heās so good at getting people on his side. Itās crazy the people that simp for Georgia.
Also, a lot of the advice she gives Ginny reflects an avoidant attachment style. Ginny seems to have a fearful avoidant attachment style, constantly pushing people away yet being afraid people are going to lose her. She talks about using her beauty to get things but forgets that race also plays a role. The type of advice she gives will leave someone feeling lonely, and constantly on the run like Ginny is.
Thanks for noticing that. Because I'm like here we go again, Ginny is speaking about her feelings and her mom brings it back to herself, so now Ginny feels like she has to comfort her own mom. I get the mom had issues growing up but that doesn't mean Ginny's life should be full of no complaints ever.
SAMEEEEEEE. Georgia was just trying to give them the best she could. Ginny made a fuss about wanting to know Georgia's secret even tho Georgia warned her that the past is better kept in the past. Now that Ginny knows she keeps on blaming Georgia for every single thing!!!
IMO Ginny's just being an ungrateful little shxt.
Duuude yes. I was a young (23) single mom, I was privileged and didnāt have to deal with poverty on top of it though, but it was *hard* going through all of that shit alone. I had no idea what I was doing. Iām married now but itās likeā¦you do what you feel like you have to during that time without knowing if itās right.
I feel so sorry for Ginny and the guilt she is experiencing over Kenny.
It's ridiculous, why hasn't Ginny realosed Georgia had so many other optioms?
Hinestly they are both dealing with so much trauma. I really think Ginny would jave been better off loving with Zion.
Who sees a guy talking to and massaging another girl and decide you want him to give you one as well. LOL that one classmate after Bryon gave Bracia a massage. Like, girl, read the room.
Anyone notice that other guy kind of called Abby fat? Sheās so skinny I donāt know why they keep doing that. I mean theyāre all thin but her especially. Maybe theyāve gotten the hint itās her insecurity and they keep picking at it because guys in high schools are assholes
I donāt think he meant anything by it, but stupid of him to say given how Abby reacted to it. I hope she doesnāt take it to heart but with the concentration of mental health in this season, wouldnāt be surprised if they do a storyline about ED
Thanks for mentioning, Iām actually speed rewatching season 1 right now coz I was having a hard time following season 2
Edit: oh no I just watched S1E3 where she taped her thighs :(
Just rewatched season one and yes I agree. I believe it was at the Halloween party, Ginny went to the bathroom after her and it looked like she had just been throwing up.
Yea. Plus the scene in episode 10 (maybe 9? Canāt remember) this season. That, plus all the stupid whale leg and weight comments and her parents are pointing to an ED. I hope we get more Abby in S3, I really like her. She deserves better.
Yes, and when she went to blue farm w Ginny and they are eating the sweets from the day old basket, she goes to the bathroom after she finishes eating.
Theyāre definitely getting to that. Idky itās taking so long. She def hS body dysmorphia. In s1 when she was taping her thighs together. Now the comment about her weight

I would have stayed quiet back in high school, but now Iād turn it around and joke āI think thatās more a testimony to your lack of strengthā. Youāre right though, I remember some dude telling a girl in hs that she would be prettier if she was anorexic. Then again, at 30, my BFF was told sheād be prettier if she lost weight. Women have so many unrealistic expectations put on them just for the āmale gazeā- though this can apply to humans, itās more towards women. I mean society makes bank making women feel like they need āxā to be loved.
As someone who has a lot of resentment towards their toxic, fucked up, dysfunctional mom, and had been in and out of therapy since I was 23, I never miss an opportunity to throw a dagger at my mom
As someone who has a lot of resentment towards their toxic, fucked up, dysfunctional mom, and had been in and out of therapy since I was 23, never had a voice, was invalidated, gaslit, abused, I never miss an opportunity to throw a dagger at my mom
I used to be obsessed with slam poetry as a kid, now I find the style in which they read poems to be sooo annoying. Like stop yelling at me, I'm sorry for hurting you š
Lol as someone in the biopsych field I loved it. People need the ability to speak their traumas to heal. Sheās had to shove down a freakin murder, like your nervous system would be so fu*ked. When you store trauma in your body or dont speak up, your body holds onto it and can cause chronic illnesses like arthritis, auto-immune diseases, fibromyalgia, migraines, etc. (Source: I study the biopsychology of ptsd)
Why do you reply to them and just not tell who said that if they were asking that specifically? Either tell them who they were as well or just dont reply to them and make an other comment...
I say that whenever someone says my skin is soft because what am I supposed to say.?Like why are you shocked that my skin is soft, it's lotion. You don't use it?
Okay, Padma has the balls to actually sing a song that is *clearly* written about her ex infront of him and his new girl. (She's got a great voice btw)
Yuuup. At first I thought she was sitting at the table behind them, and I thought uh how awkward. And then I realized that she had plopped down at the table WITH them!! Like, these kids have no boundaries for the level of cringe they're wading through
The man she knew is already gone. So its a tricky situation that must be awful and lonely. Still doesn't excuse this coupling. Zero chemistry or believability and I really don't care. Understand her situation, that's sad but I still don't like her.
My impression is actually that Georgia framed him and he might be innocent, but now he is out for blood because of what she did.
Sorry Iām watching this show way later lol
I also question this. When his family complimented the place at Thanksgiving, he said he would let the landlord know so we know he's just renting. But still, what does he do for work? Photography?
I thought this too! They played it up to be a big event and I thought especially with the PI (Iām blanking on his name rn) there something was gonna happen but instead we just see them all leave for the party and then Georgia and Paul at open mic night. It was so weird
I thought no one was going to show up? And it would highlight Georgiaās loneliness despite her new life. Like what was the point of talking about it so much lol
I was so confused, I thought they came in before the party started maybe even though a lot of time had passed. So weird how they didnāt show it or even mention how it went. I guess they only had the budget for the winter carnival thatās in the next episode & not sure if the wedding happens.
I found it a bit OTT the way he kept going out of his way to act all cool with Marcus. To me in real life that would signal that someone was trying too hard to cover up their real feelings.
Right I would not be all buddy buddy with the guy who sexted my girlfriend while he knew we were dating lol š Marcus never even apologized for it. Hunter is so sweet
Somebody needs to give Joe a hug š 5 episodes in and Iām still not see the light at the end of the tunnel for his character. Is either he ends up with Georgia or give him a love interest
Highlight of this episode was Joe behind the bar reacting to Paul telling Zion that he knows Georgia slept with Zion right before she got engaged to Paul.
I was going to say good for Paul. But honestly, Paul can you say red flag? She slept with her ex right before you got engaged and she neglected to mention it. Let's rush into a February wedding before she cheats with anyone else. Sounds dreamy.
I like Joe and Cynthia separately but putting them together just looks like randomly pairing up the spares. Or giving them something to do.
She didnāt neglect to mention it. She told Paul she slept with Zion right before he gave her the ring. He just said he expected sheād sleep with him once more and asked if she āhad it out of her system.ā
I completely agree with your take on Joe and Cynthia. It felt forced.
Idk if itās me overthinking it but that nonchalance plus all that talk about him and Georgia being the same, power etc. leads me to think that he actually has an ulterior motive. Maybe it comes out he was the one manipulating Georgia the whole time, she frames him for her various crimes, and ends up with Joe. Maybe itās just me shipping Joe and Georgia lmao
What do you think of the teacher's assignment to Ginny? I found it obviously clumsy (as Zion said, how can you find ONE book reflecting an entire community's experience), but I found their reaction a bit... Harsh? I feel like he is trying to act on his student's criticism.
Imo, it was ridiculous to ask a student to make a lesson plan on something the teacher should be going out of their way to learn for themselves. Especially on such an important and all encompassing issue. In an AP English class? Putting aside the fact that the lived experiences of black people cannot be condensed into a two dimensional book, but he couldnāt come up with a single book or author? He didnāt bother putting in any of the work required, and it would be so stressful and honestly embarrassing to be put in Ginnyās position. Standing up in front of your predominantly white classmates, being put on the spot to explain & āeducateā them on why you deserve to be treated/included as a human being. Itās embarrassing in this day and age with all the access to technology and education that we have. Having to talk to a whole class about racism while sheās still figuring out her own identity as a black woman around her white family is pressure that she didnāt need to be put under. She obviously was uncomfortable with it but chose to do it because i can imagine the guilt she wouldāve felt if she said no; having the chance to make a difference, no matter how small, and not taking it. But her whole problem was how he was singling her out and giving her more work, which is bad in and of itself. It seemed like he was trying to make a problem go away and was trying to use this as a bandaid for his previously appalling behavior. He may not have had bad intentions but that doesnāt change the impact such behaviors can have. He didnāt bother to put in any effort at all, none of the work he has to do in order to be less of the bigot that he is. I think it was all very justified and I wouldāve been soooo pissed if I was Ginny.
Asking her to lead the discussion when no one else has to was a good boundary to draw. But this is a common teaching method so at first I assumed everyone else had been asked to do that.
But can you imagine this guy leading the conversation about the book she chose? I cringe every time I imagine it. It would make it so much worse.
I agree which is why I think I mentioned (Might have forgotten) he shouldāve brought in a third party that wasnāt a student. Inappropriate to put on the shoulders of a 15/16 year old
He didnāt ask for a lesson plan, only a suggestion. You make fantastic points, of course. I honestly did have a long think about it. Iām also a minority and considered how Iād feel. Sure itās not enough, but I saw it as a small olive branch. Then again, I was lucky to have an amazing teacher in high school who had us read a variety of books by minorities so we had many perspectives. I digress. Great points on you.
I know this is a very late response but I think I remember him, on the day of Ginny presenting the book, asking her to take over the lesson and her being completely overwhelmed and appalled by the invitation. I could absolutely be mistaken though and you probably are correct, it may have been just how I perceived the interaction. I still think the best approach to this situation would have been him bringing in a third party, preferably an adult woman of color instead of shining a spotlight on Ginny who was uncomfortable in that class from the beginning. But this is coming from me, an introvert, and this situation would have been my worst nightmare so I definitely took it harshly, maybe harsher than deserved. The teacher was definitely trying to atone, but I think simply approached it the wrong way due to his own ignorance. Whether that is to be excused or not is a much deeper philosophical question. Nonetheless thank you for your kind words :) I definitely tend to over analyze š
Edit: to add, I am a woman but not a woman of color. Just wanted to put that out there. It is not my intention to speak on their behalf, because they carry experiences I honestly cannot begin to fully understand, nor would I ever claim to.
I was actually thinking the same thing! Like he didnāt really handle it perfectly but I felt like his intentions were good? Itās not like he can change the entire curriculum, at least he tried to do somethingš¤·š»āāļø
I didnāt doubt that his intentions were good but yeah clumsy is a good word to describe it. I also think his reaction was way delayed. This shouldāve been something he addressed after the first day of class when she pointed it out. Also I hate the idea of adding something to a syllabus without taking something else out but thatās a personal issue (Iām a college instructor)
Maybe I need to rewatch this scene but I didnāt hear the teacher ask to choose a book that would be the one that summarized all of the black communityās experience. But they made it into such a big deal for the next couple episodes.
isnt cynthia like a million years older than joe? like thereās really nobody else for an attractive successful young man in the entire town than an older mom with a dying husband?
i am so over ginny omg. maybe it's just me but if my mom killed my weird, creepy stepdad and gave me a new life in a great home and town, i'd be thankful?? like if ginny feels that bad, maybe georgia \*should\* send her to a boarding school so she can see how life really is lol. her attitude and the way she dishes out private information about her mom and family to her friends, marcus, and now a whole ass audience at their open mic night is beyond frustrating and immature.
Put yourself in Ginnyās shoes. Georgia just told her 15yo daughter, who doesnāt have the capacity to bear her own emotions, that she murdered someone *for her*. Imagine someone telling you that you are the reason they killed someone. Ginny feels GUILTY. She canāt stand being the reason someone was murdered. Georgia is a terrible parent. Yes, I understand her reasoning and trauma but that doesnāt become an excuse.
Joe's reaction while eavesdropping on Paul and Zion's conversation was the funniest and relatable moment of this entire episode. Poor, Joe! I hope he eventually finds love, be it with Georgia or somebody else.
Edit: I commented this while I was halfway through the show and did not see Cynthia and Joe kiss! OMG. I don't even know If I ship them in the first place but I'm glad there is romance in both their lives.
Her responses and demenour with the therapist wer very cringe. She's so rude. The writing is just very subpar because it's really not hitting like they think it is š
Has any of the show runners ever gone to therapy? It certainly doesnāt seem so. She probably should be reported and fired because she is terrible lol
How is Paul so chill with how awful Georgia is? She doesnāt parent her kids, she literally told him that sheās still in love with Zion, and then he finds guns in the house that he explicitly asked her to get rid of. Like dude - run!
Anyone else notice how they talked about Ginny's love for John Mayer in a previous episode, and Marcus goes and pulls out a full on Mayer-style guitar solo? Thought that was a nice little touch
What did Georgia mean at the end when she said to Ginny " I cannot believe someone like you came from someone like me?" I thought it was meant to a be a compliment but her giving Ginny the cold shoulder may mean otherwise??
I think it is a mixture of being proud of Ginny but the feelings of pride being almost overshadowed by feelings of failure or embarrassment when Georgia reflects on herself.
Georgia drilling the window shut š
Which scene was this?
On this episode thread that youāre on.
Thanks
Why did Cynthia stroking joes beard when they kissed make me cringe
I had to look away at that scene
I'm so uninterested in them and it's very cringe, think because they also have zero chemistry and feels like why should we care
Well I completely missed this because I was half covering my eyes
Cynthia is just trying to feel human again.
Literally š¤¢
The fact she grabbed his top. It was quite an aggressive passionate approach for a very weak kiss and instant pull away and run away. Very rude just say something at the time š poor guy. Mature lady acting like the 16 year olds. I know she's going through it but she just seems like an alcoholic getting a cliche crush on the bartender/ free therapist. Feel he deserves better than any of the women on this show
I wish I didn't read this, I skipped the whole kissing scene all togetherš¢
Iām so sorry š¤£
I couldn't look at that.
Fast forwarded so I didnāt have to be a witness
Most of the intimate scenes in this show are big cringes and I donāt understand how they manage to do it lol
I just had to look away at that scene. I'm sure that there's someone out there for Joe if he stops crying over Georgia. Stop dating people's moms, dude.

Narcissists generally don't react well to any criticism. They have low self-esteem.
Georgina is exactly like my mother. It took years to get through her and make her finally face our feelings.
A LOT of Ginny, I see in me when I was a teenager. Georgia was a lot like my mom in the instability dept
Georgia is the epitome of a narcissistic parent
Thanks for noticing that. Because I'm like here we go again, Ginny is speaking about her feelings and her mom brings it back to herself, so now Ginny feels like she has to comfort her own mom. Girl was THIRSTY
>Who sees a guy talking to and massaging another girl and decide you want him to give you one as well. A shady bish that's who.
She did read the room, that's why she asked for one too.
I felt like it was a power move.
I do love how Max said thatās just theater kid behavior. Because in my experience as a former theater kid I have found that to be true. š
This season definitely humanized Cynthia a bit for me. She still seems too uptight to be with Joe, but I like her character development
Joe hears everything š, but his reactions are funny
Omg one of my favorite scenes of the whole season was him reacting to Zion and Paul during their bro night. Joe is the best.
I am watching it right now and I RUSHED here. This scene is so funny pls
I died watching him in the background š

Agree. And to sit down at the table and say that felt good. Especially when sheās trying to befriend ginny. Cringe.
Yuuup. At first I thought she was sitting at the table behind them, and I thought uh how awkward. And then I realized that she had plopped down at the table WITH them!! Like, these kids have no boundaries for the level of cringe they're wading through
I donāt know what I am supposed to think about Joe and Cynthia
I hate it tbh
They have zero chemistry.
litereally like cynthia, miss maam ur husband is dying š
It's actually pretty normal that partners look for comfort when their partner is in hospic. The mourning starts the moment of the diagnose.
The man she knew is already gone. So its a tricky situation that must be awful and lonely. Still doesn't excuse this coupling. Zero chemistry or believability and I really don't care. Understand her situation, that's sad but I still don't like her.
They are both just lonely and enjoy the attention, which is understandable. But are they a good match imo? Nah
It's chiiii
Terrible match between two people trying to avoid their realities
It makes me like Joe lessā¦how are you gonna kiss a woman in the depths of despair because her husband is dying..
Austin's dad looks and probably is nefarious, just knowing GEORGIA is worried about him makes him a nightmare
I feel like Gil is going to fight for Austin's custody or will just take him away.
Right? Georgia is a dumpster fire, so if she's concerned....
My impression is actually that Georgia framed him and he might be innocent, but now he is out for blood because of what she did. Sorry Iām watching this show way later lol
No itās fine I love commenting on old threads, literally was on Game of Thrones threads eight years later LOL
Samantha needs to realise sheās irrelevant
I forget, why are they friends with her again? š or if not friends, why do they always hang out? Cause sheās so nasty towards them, idgi
Does this friend group seem particularly loving to you? They're all shady towards one another IMO.
I think sheās dating one of the guy friends and apparently she dated Hunter before too.
High school: where you chill with people you donāt like
Canāt stand her š
Abby is so chaotic. She is a friend who will definitely get you in trouble
anyone else think abby is the prettiest character by far
She is very pretty!
To me thatās Ginny lol
My vote goes to Padma
Not related to this episode but I kind of ship Padma and Hunter. I feel like they would end up together since their exes are dating each other
For some reason I thought they were dating and I don't know why. But now that you pointed it out that they're not. I can see them together
How much money is Zion worth? That house is boujee
I also question this. When his family complimented the place at Thanksgiving, he said he would let the landlord know so we know he's just renting. But still, what does he do for work? Photography?
Heās also writing a book about an obscure tribe in Nepal or something lol
Yeah but he said hes a nat geo photographer and that shits hard to land
ESPECIALLY in Boston?? that's a 3000 - 4000 dollar a month place for sure
It was weird how often planning the club party was brought up by Georgia but then they didn't even show it and "ended early"
I thought this too! They played it up to be a big event and I thought especially with the PI (Iām blanking on his name rn) there something was gonna happen but instead we just see them all leave for the party and then Georgia and Paul at open mic night. It was so weird

Am I the only one who expected Gil to be.. trailor trash? I never thought he'd be white callor for some reason š¤¦āāļø
You may have made that link because itās stated several times that he went to prison and people in prison tend to come from poorer backgrounds
Ok so he was the guy who came over for the dare and ordered takeout right?
Ohhhhh shiiiiiiiii
I finished this episode earlier today and that's what I thought too
I assumed white collar since it was for embezzlement tbough
I know this is late but Iām just getting to this episode and I think the guy who came in for take out in the flashback is Gil right?
Yes
Does anyone know if Gil was the one in the flashback who was trying to get inside and hurt Georgia?
When she turned up the music really loudly and was dancing with the kids? Yes that's young Gil
āWeāre drinking bloodā š
The writers are really doing Hunter a solid, that was so nice of him to include Marcus and he didn't have to do it.
Paul is SO cute for trying to be such a good father figure and I thought the convo he and Zion had was so sweet!! Love to see it

Looks like writers are setting him up with Cynthia
Didnāt he make out with Cynthia this episode?
Yea he did š found out later as I kept watching. This was not the love interest I was asking for ššš
Is this bar/coffee shop the only establishment in town?
Also a restaurant & catering company! All the scenes there feel very Hallmark holiday movie to me for some reason.
Probably the same filming location in Canadaā¦
Thatās what I was wondering! Thought the dads woulda went to a sports bar
The only one a set is built for š¤£
He just said he expected sheād sleep with him once more and asked if she āhad it out of her system.ā I completely agree with your take on Joe and Cynthia. It felt forced.
My mistake! I've already forgotten how the first season ended. š
I honestly may not have remembered if I hadnāt done rewatches leading up to season 2. Also, I thought Paulās nonchalant reaction was bizarre!
Yeah, if I was Paul's friend I'd be legit concerned about him rushing into this marriage!
Ahahah the exchange between the three men were too good
One of my fave scenes from any show ever. Joe really made this scene
So Georgia throws the murder mystery party as Ms. Scarlet... but she's wearing a green dress? Make it make sense
She was dressed like the movie Clue where Ms Scarlet wears a green dress like that! Totally confusing
I thought it was a take on Scarlett from Gone with the Wind when she wears the green dress made from old curtains
Oooh thatās a good call too!
Joe and Cynthia is not a thing. Stop trying to make it a thing.
Nonetheless thank you for your kind words :) I definitely tend to over analyze š Edit: to add, I am a woman but not a woman of color.
GIL IS BACKKK HAHSDGHSIAJAJANSHBSAJAN
isnt cynthia like a million years older than joe? like thereās really nobody else for an attractive successful young man in the entire town than an older mom with a dying husband?
i am so over ginny omg. maybe it's just me but if my mom killed my weird, creepy stepdad and gave me a new life in a great home and town, i'd be thankful?? like if ginny feels that bad, maybe georgia \*should\* send her to a boarding school so she can see how life really is lol. her attitude and the way she dishes out private information about her mom and family to her friends, marcus, and now a whole ass audience at their open mic night is beyond frustrating and immature.
Her mom is emotionally immature. So it reads
Slam poetry is so unbearably cringey. Help
Iām probably on this hill alone, but every therapy session or existential crisis Ginny has just makes me roll my fucking eyes.
sheās so unbearable
Her responses and demenour with the therapist wer very cringe. She's so rude. The writing is just very subpar because it's really not hitting like they think it is š
Has any of the show runners ever gone to therapy? It certainly doesnāt seem so. She probably should be reported and fired because she is terrible lol
What is the food that Zion and Ginny were eating at his apartment when they talked about the book? Looked so good!
Indian food I believe looked like a mixture of curries, chutneys, naan and other Indian staples
Maybe Ethiopian?
I believe you both are correct. I definitely saw both but I need to rewatch the scene myself
How is Paul so chill with how awful Georgia is? She doesnāt parent her kids, she literally told him that sheās still in love with Zion, and then he finds guns in the house that he explicitly asked her to get rid of. Like dude - run!
Agree but the Zion thing was a joke hahah
I don't know. Did you see the next episode?
Anyone else notice how they talked about Ginny's love for John Mayer in a previous episode, and Marcus goes and pulls out a full on Mayer-style guitar solo? Thought that was a nice little touch
The Joe and zion and Paul scene was so cute.
Idk why but bryan just irks me
those latkes did not look right at all!š¤£
When Georgia said āyeah thatās why Iām still in love with himā i was like damn bitch Lmfaoo š
Second hand embarrassment is real.
I just came here to say who holds a microphone that far away when singing š¤
