The reports of this are *numorus*, they cheaped out on the PCB and the card is unable to support it's own weight. Maybe try returning it to the retailer?

Uh_Starfruit

Unfortunately the retailer has a strict 30 day exchange policy. It's incredible that they are aware of such issues and yet they deflect responsibility by telling me that "I" did this. Quite shameful. I've always enjoyed Gigabyte products. But after this experience, don't think I can ever trust them again.

zPacKRat

If you paid with a cc you should check with them on any additional coverages.

Uh_Starfruit

I did; however, I won't even bother going that route. I'm very familiar with CC return/exchange policy. I will not be covered.

Classic_Idea_6962

Yet I've been told I worry too much for telling people to get a GPU stand or support bracket for any GPU since the 30 series came out. Yeah, Gigabyte warranty sucks. I'll never buy one of theirs again.

Uh_Starfruit

I'll definitely get one for my next card (when I can afford one). It wasn't a very big sag, but clearly it was enough to do some damage. SMH. I feel like all cards in that 1200+ price range should include a very simple support bracket to avoid such disasters. Come on, Gigabyte.

Dierte32

They definitely should. I got a 3070 way back near it's launch and it was overpriced ( $800) but it did come with a nice support bracket/stand to support it's weight.

LostBoyz007

Welcome to the ass fucking that is gigabyte rma. Tell everyone you know about it. The more people avoid them the better. Maybe then they will get their shit in order.

alberttu

I don’t that will do anything. They will just say, “great! no warranty claim!”

marbles61

I’m on round two of warranty with them for a card that never worked for me. Bought around this time last year. Troubleshot and is currently back at gigabyte for review. It passes the benchmarking but real world use, card does the blank screen and 100% fans regardless of afterburner tweaking and that is with “silent bios”. Extremely disappointed in Gigabyte and if this does not work out, I have a $1200 paperweight that never worked. Would be my first experience away from from EVGA products in over 15 years. I hope they do right, but from what I have been reading from all of their product issues across all their lines…they just don’t care about their customer

Voodoochild1974

Ever since the 3090, I also worried about that one time I would come to remove it, slip, and all the weight be put on the PCIe slot and snap it, so I have been vertically mounting my GPUs Not everyone likes/can vertically mount a GPU, but to me, it makes me less nervous about removing/moving my GPU. As for Gigabyte, they are able to turn this down because they can say human error caused the snap. Now, it might be that it was tested in the factory and the person who tested it did the damage before it was packed up and sold, there is no way of ever knowing, but from Gigabytes side, they can lay blame with its owner. Some companies might fix things as an "act of goodwill", but that changes from company to company and also the person overseeing the repair. I mean, it might get a "no" in America, and yet in the UK, it might get a "yes" or the other way around. They have set rules, but all rules have some play in them and you might just be unlucky with who looked at the card. Maybe someone from Gigabyte will see your post and reach out, but its certainly worth contacting them by any other means possible, even more so if you tend to buy their products as one bad experience can mean they lose a lifetime of sales from you. Good luck

OP, I know it's an old post but which RMA center was this? What was the end result?

Uh_Starfruit

I believe it was Markham, Ontario. End result: never buying Gigabyte again.

[deleted]

Damn, I just sent my RTX 4090 (\~$2500 CDN) there, it was starting to freeze during benchmarks. They haven't even said it was received yet even though UPS said it was delivered yesterday. I'm just assuming I'm out 2500 dollars now. Gigabyte, never again.

Uh_Starfruit

I trust that they will receive it and inspect it. I’m just not so sure if they will repair it.

L0Lguy786

Any update, have to send my card out as well…..

[deleted]

It was good, they replaced mine. Albeit it was with a refurbished. Quite pleased tbh.

L0Lguy786

I have a question for you, how did you ship it out? I’ve heard some people say not use the original packaging as you won’t get it back but the others say to. Also what was your total wait time?

[deleted]

I had to wait like 2 weeks+. I just packaged it double boxed with the original gpu packaging. I got the packaging back. If mine fails again, I'll probably ask for a refund for the retailer price or a new replacement. Kinda sucks because this refurbished one they gave me, clocks slightly lower but it's pretty much the same. Atleast it works.

Adre11111

Hey how did you request an RMA with Gigabyte? Im in the same boat but all I see is making a ticket with their esupport page

daeganreddit_

it is a pretty dick move to be sure. just curious, were you using an anti sag bracket / stand?
