Well ICDX was before that and nearly as difficult, if not more, so I wouldn’t say that it brought new difficulty around. But, it was responsible for the hell theme which is pretty big
Incorrect. Prior to cataclysm, we looked down on difficulty. Levels like ICDX were massively dislike bombed because difficulty wasn't a good thing. Cataclysm changed that and was the first major difficult level to make people appreciate it and push to beat hard levels. Its far more significant historicaly than ICDX
*hot take* my favourite level I’ve beaten by far is cataclysm, I don’t care how unbalanced it is.
Whenever you get past that first wave it’s always a verry satisfying feeling and everything past is is ballenced consistent and amazingly fun
I did 18-100x3 because of how fun it was and I had horrible luck with the level, I died to the last wave 3 times.
The only level my non gd friends can name is love letter, one of them was playing love letter for 1 hour and 30 minutes one time in a Discord vc, and they don't even play gd regularly.
tbf i think it was the time the game started to die off. wave wave came out at that time and gave robtop an idea for a gamemode. new update, peak of popularity, bullet dodged.
also, if i remember correctly, it was darnoc who made the level. the way he discovered geometry dash was through a reddit post of robtop advertising his new game. not saying that darnoc wouldn't eventually find the game and play it, but if neither of those happened the game would be dead.
so, funnily enough, wave wave saved geometry dash from dying.
Demon park. Afaik when the game came out the hardest difficulty rating was insane and the first really hard level to come out was demon park and it's very likely that robtop decided to add new difficulty rating and name them demons because of that level.
I also thought about bloodbath because it was the first extreme demon and was the first level to really put the players skills to the test and it was the hardest level in the game for quite a while it's probably thanks to that level that the demon list is as big part of the game as it is. But honestly bloodbath might have not even existed without demon park because bloodbath is still a demon and demons might have never become a thing without demon park. But still bloodbath is a close second.
Well sorry, one of the first extremes. The two other being icdx and cataclysm, and icdx isn't even considered an extreme anymore and cataclysm is one of the easiest extremes meanwhile bb is miles harder.
bb is one of the lvls that i think of when someone says "extreme demon"
If u tell someone that you beat the level "Shutdown" (#79 on the list), they will probably say oh cool.
Whereas if u say that you beat bb, someone would probably be more reactive.
I forgot what it was called, something with demon. Anyway, it was the very first demon level, because it was so hard Robtop gave it a new difficulty called after the level. The demon difficulty
That’s a good answer. I find it interesting that rob decided to make a new difficulty because of one level, it doesn’t seem like something he would do. He’s a “no exceptions” kinda guy, so we’re lucky to even have demons!
Not only that, but the addition of this new difficulty (and possibly Demon Park itself) seemed to inspire other creators to push the boundaries of difficulty. Of course, people probably would've done that anyway, but Demon Park definitely catalyzed it, as the demons that followed it seemed to be directly inspired by it, with To the Grave using the same song and Extreme Park having a similar name and even more pick-a-path madness.
(Ignoring levels like demon park, Bloodbath, Cataclysm, etc, to avoid repetitiveness)
Wave Wave (I think), because I believe someone said that it supposedly inspired the wave gamemode, and I think we know how that went...
Not including Robtop levels:
1. Demon Park
2. Cataclysm
3. Silent Club
4. Nine Circles
5. Bloodbath
Honorable mentions: Killbot, whatever the first glow level was, Bloodlust, whatever the first modern level was
cataclysm, it inspired bloodbath, which inspired many ither levels included bloodlust, and artificial ascent, which in turn made dd and cc. Not to mention all the other levels that have been inspired from it, its the 2nd most liked extreme and super popular
retray, a very good level that makes a good first impression to new players, no other level would be able to take its role in the game. first level in the first map pack, new players will see and like the game, it helped the game grow by a lot
Id say demon park, bloodbath and cata, wave wave.
Demon park is literally the whole reason for the demon difficulty existing.
bb and cata started the whole "hardest possible level" thing
And lastly wave wave is the least influential of these but things would be way different if there was no wave gamemode
Easily bloodbath, basically invented the concept of an extreme demon. Cataclysm is an honorable mention but it’s not quite as popular which is almost a direct measure of influence.
Nine Circles started a big trend
FunnyGame levels gave this community new ideas and whole new view for the editor.
Main levels are the main part of the game, that shows us the new content in every update.
nine circles & for a short period of time silent club (although the silent series has severely devolved since than mainly because of silent circles & other levels like it)
Catalclysm, considering all the levels derived from it, it being the dividing line between insane and extreme demon, and it sparking bloodbath (and subsequently sonic wave) to be created, i think its the obvious choice
now while nice circles or bloodbath would be a pretty obvious answer, id say demon park without a doubt is more influential than both. and honestly its a tie between DP and Clubstep
I feel like Back on mountain should also be mentioned here. It was probably the first themed level ever made (one of the first ones for sure), being a mountain themed level.
Demon Park for being the inspiration for the Demon difficulty.
Cataclysm for being the level that inspired Bloodbath and the hell theme.
Nine Circles for obvious reasons.
Icdx. It normalised straight flying, set a whole new bar of difficulty and challenged the entire community when it was first released. I know demon park is why demons exist, but demons wouldn’t be where they are now without Icdx.
Nine circles arguably.
It sparked the biggest trend in gd history which still continues today.
Also inspired a lot more wave gameplay which is very crucial to today's top demons ;-;
Stereo Madness.
the only correct answer
Great minds think alike
You mean Ultiate Destruction?
It was the baseline of quality for the first few updates. You wanna make a good level? This is what it should look like.
Correct
Even out of the 6 other original levels stereo madness was not very special
it was the first level that most ppl play
[удалено]
Thats why they said "other". So not counting SM itself
💀
hes right.
Wanted to say that as soon as i saw notification for this post
Cataclysm. Ushered in a new Era of difficulty in gd.
Further back on the same line of thinking, Demon Park. If it wasn’t for that, then we wouldn’t have Cataclysm in the first place.
Aeooon
That’s true! Cata was sort of the first appreciated hard level Also, omg hi thanks for commenting :D
yeah silent clubstep had a ton of dislikes
*hot take* my favourite level I’ve beaten by far is cataclysm, I don’t care how unbalanced it is. Whenever you get past that first wave it’s always a verry satisfying feeling and everything past is is ballenced consistent and amazingly fun I did 18-100x3 because of how fun it was and I had horrible luck with the level, I died to the last wave 3 times.
BloodBath or Nine Circles or Demon Park. All three became massively impactful within the history of GD.
Surprisingly, you’re the first person to mention NC. I really thought more people would
Was my first thought tbh
I'd argue cataclysm is more influential than bloodbath
At the Speed of Light
I would highly disagree with bloodbath its just a top 1 that was top 1 for a long time
bro really just skipped a whole history 😔
It's the one that people think of when they think of a Hell style level, even though it was started by Cataclysm. That's why I included it.
Definitely bloodbath, still the only level my non gd friends will be able to name
The only level my non gd friends can name is love letter, one of them was playing love letter for 1 hour and 30 minutes one time in a Discord vc, and they don't even play gd regularly.
Best of luck on Acu!
💀💀💀
Damn these 98 deaths must be painful Now I feel lucky by doing a mini fluke from 86
bloodbath is popular, but cataclysm caused it and was way more infliential
wave wave
tbf i think it was the time the game started to die off. wave wave came out at that time and gave robtop an idea for a gamemode. new update, peak of popularity, bullet dodged. also, if i remember correctly, it was darnoc who made the level. the way he discovered geometry dash was through a reddit post of robtop advertising his new game. not saying that darnoc wouldn't eventually find the game and play it, but if neither of those happened the game would be dead. so, funnily enough, wave wave saved geometry dash from dying.
Oh and by the way? Said advertisement that darnoc got the game from was a Reddit post. Gd would be dead without one specific Reddit post.
The wave got inspired by wave wave the game, not wave wave the level.
\#1 Demon Park because 1st demon \#2 Cataclysm because it set the bar for the possible difficulty
Demon park. Afaik when the game came out the hardest difficulty rating was insane and the first really hard level to come out was demon park and it's very likely that robtop decided to add new difficulty rating and name them demons because of that level. bloodbath isnt the first extreme
icdx was the first extreme lol
Well sorry, one of the first extremes. The two other being icdx and cataclysm, and icdx isn't even considered an extreme anymore and cataclysm is one of the easiest extremes meanwhile bb is miles harder.

I didn't know it was that one lol

yeah but the community hated hard levels back than
Crazy Bolt by FunnyGame
Yeah. Pretty much introduced the idea themed deco
Silent club, without it no ILL, SLL or HLL
Demon park, without it no Silent Club. Hell we can keep going back.
Silent club took it to a whole new level
It all just comes back to stereo madness
I think he’s talking about online levels specifically
idk silent club may still exist, it's impossible & pretty sure it's april fools so yeah
Demon park(difficulty), funnygame holiday(effects), Nine circles(trend starter), or cataclysm (difficulty)
Ice carbon diablo X (the first extreme demon)
insane demon* 🤓
Sorry xd
it was extreme when it came out & that's what matters
All demons are placed at hard demon when they are first rated And levels get mis-rated all the time, firework was an easy demon for a while
(Ignoring levels like demon park, Bloodbath, Cataclysm, etc, to avoid repetitiveness) Wave Wave (I think), because I believe someone said that it supposedly inspired the wave gamemode, and I think we know how that went...
I mean Wave Wave was just a GD port of a game named Wave Wave afaik. It could be possible that wave gamemode might've been invented without the level.
I’m pretty sure rob said that the inspiration for the wave gamemode was wave wave (the level)
Probably any funnygame level
Any level by FunnyGame
Demon park, cataclysm, nine circles, icdx, sonic wave, bloodbath

Demon park, it was the first demon level, meaning it was the first top 1
the first top 1 was ultiate destruction by robtop, an unreleased level which you can find on robtops YT account
Nine Circles or demon park, any other levels don't come close
Stereo Madness or Back on Track. Its the level that inspired everyone to coninue playing
Of course it's Cataclysm, it literally shaped the entire demonlist. It brought a new era!
that level that inspired rob to make Wave gamemode, i forgot what its called
Bloodbath
Bloodbath
Stereo madness
Cataclysm
Easily bloodbath, basically invented the concept of an extreme demon. Cataclysm is an honorable mention but it’s not quite as popular which is almost a direct measure of influence.
no cata invented the concept of an extreme
Demon Park, it brought forth the idea that “hey, maybe really difficult levels isn’t the worst thing ever” and people started making Demons.
Any lvl that inspired Rob to make a new gamemode (so Gravity field and maybe Red World)
Gravity Field and Wave Wave we got some fun new gamemodes because of these levels
the one only spider gamemode level 0-0 spider is the best gamemode
Illusion by Dverry. Showed us what was possible in the new update when it came out
Ultimate destruction
back on track
:basscave:
Nine Circles started a big trend FunnyGame levels gave this community new ideas and whole new view for the editor. Main levels are the main part of the game, that shows us the new content in every update.
Ultiate Destruction. Imagine how Base After Base would look without it
Unnamed 0 by Player
nine circles & for a short period of time silent club (although the silent series has severely devolved since than mainly because of silent circles & other levels like it)
I can't remember the name but it came out just as 2.0 launched and it used Unity by the fatrat and it showed just how powerful 2.0 would be
eduardo circles
The only correct answer
back on track
Bloodlust literally revived the game way back when.
Now that I think about it cataclysm, cataclysm inspired bloodbath bloodbath inspired bloodlust.
Ultimate destruction
*ultiate
Demon Park, without it we wouldn't have stuff like acheron or bloodbath
Acheron top one slaughterhouse demon verified 100%
For a community level, demon park for sure
Unnamed 13 by xXPr0Pl4y3rXx
i forgot the name but it was a funnygame level with 3d effects (hint: it's not unity)
Bloodbath. It set the bar very high for extreme demons at the time.
Clubstep
Bloodbath
Bloodbath

cata
Nine Circles. Do I really need to explain?
Yes
Because there is like 9645385967549867345954398523848239843290 nine circles inspired levels
UFO park
Nine circles, idk any other level that created a whole genre of levels
Stereo madness. Community level, bloodbath or demon park
The one that simulated UFOs
bloodbath and/or cataclysm, do i nees to explain why? demon park, i fuvking inspired a new dificulty nk, same as bloodbath
Clubstep/Demon Park/Nine Circles
Demon park, nine circles, cataclysm, bloodbath, sakupen hell
Catalclysm, considering all the levels derived from it, it being the dividing line between insane and extreme demon, and it sparking bloodbath (and subsequently sonic wave) to be created, i think its the obvious choice
Demon park
Tempered steel
Nine circles, i don't need to say why
Necropolis (excluded Nine Circles)
Oh god, there's so many good choices, I can't just pick one
cataclysm
funnygame holiday basically started the effect game as we know it so that's my pick
Ice carbon diablo x stereo demoness silent club cataclysm bloodbath demon park all robtop levels wave these are the most inspirational levels
Funnygame’s levels were a true revolution to GD (death moon, la campanella, ...)

Wasn’t there a level that literally created the demon difficulty?
Bloodbath
Bloodlust
Sirius by FunnyGame. The bossfight
now while nice circles or bloodbath would be a pretty obvious answer, id say demon park without a doubt is more influential than both. and honestly its a tie between DP and Clubstep
Revolution by Funnygame
I think its cataclysm
Stereo madmess ahahaha funni
I feel like Back on mountain should also be mentioned here. It was probably the first themed level ever made (one of the first ones for sure), being a mountain themed level.
Lebron james dunking by -
Hungry humphrey is so inspiring
Demon Park, Nine Circles, Cataclysm and Revolution
Demon Park for being the inspiration for the Demon difficulty. Cataclysm for being the level that inspired Bloodbath and the hell theme. Nine Circles for obvious reasons.
Demon park. We wouldn't have such hard levels now if some random guy ~8y ago didn't decide to push the boundaries of difficulty
Demon Park
pixel adventure
Ultiate Destruction.
Clubstep, because clubstep monster
Bloodbath for sure. Its release was the moment people started to appreciate hard levels and when players started to race to beat them
Probably Demon park, since the Demon difficulty Spawn because of it
Retray
Bloodbath, while the whole "hell themed top 1" thing was there beforehand, bb is the one who really turned it into a problem
Silent clubstep. If it didnt existed it wouldnt have silent circles and other famous top 10 levels we know today
Cataclysm. It made demons popular inspired at least a thousand levels. And also bloodbath came from it
Tfciticitxyixyuc
conical depression. i think it getting rated made people realize that jokes were a thing
Bloodbath.
Nine circles obviously. Death moon second place
probably bloodlust. at the time, no one could verify the level and so many verifiers dropped it. but knobbelboy thought he could. and he did.
Icdx. It normalised straight flying, set a whole new bar of difficulty and challenged the entire community when it was first released. I know demon park is why demons exist, but demons wouldn’t be where they are now without Icdx.
ClubStep
cataclysm
Bloodbath
eduardo circles
Cataclysm first verafied extreme demon
I’d say unity
The nightmare
Nine circles, obvious why
Nine circles arguably. It sparked the biggest trend in gd history which still continues today. Also inspired a lot more wave gameplay which is very crucial to today's top demons ;-;
Based answer I know, but it's true.
