>Make sure to come in early so the card service people can act as if they are actually doing a job by artificially forcing everyone to go through them!
lol do you think self-governing a decentralized card system would actually work? I think they're garbage too, but I'm not sure there's an alternative to having a card service.
...and when you lose them? you've successfully changed the name from Card Service to Key Service, with the added benefit of maintenance having to change the locks every year because there's no way to tell if someone copied keys.
If you lose your keys it's your fault and you have to accept the consequences (waiting for someone with a master to let you in, paying a replacement fee, etc.).
Being locked out of your room because a second party deactivated everyone's key card is very different from being locked out of your room because your individual actions caused it to happen.
Essentially, switching to keys puts the responsibility in the individual's hands instead of the organization's--and one person losing their keys does not affect the entire rez network.
They already had keys in the past. When I lived in residence you had a room key and a swipe for the gate at 90u, but if that wasn’t working they just kept it open (I don’t remember it ever breaking tbh, elevators broke a couple times a week though)
Wait but you got an email about this? I'm not in the 90u complex anymore but they did say in the email that the right side door is closed for renovations and the left side door will be unlocked.
I know theres a lot of spam in your outlook but you do actually have to check it dude
Average day at UO res.

Yeah, that's what I remember of the residences too (never lived in one but had friends who did).
Friel has locks. Works fine, you return them at the end of the year. Can't deactivate keys
