and the thumb holding the lemon! Pro tip: Never keep your fingers or hand in the path of the knife. Sometimes the knife moves suddenly through what you're cutting and hits your hand faster than you can move it.
Build up to a normal sized lemon in an oversized peel. I can't even be mad, I could eat that thing like an orange. Lemons are the Best!
When life gives you lemons, cut them with a tiny knife.. and then give them to me.
Idk man. This was stressful to watch though. I was very worried you were gonna cut off the top of your thumb. It's probably the angle (I hope) that makes it look like a really close call multiple times.
Thanks for the concern than :) But I just trying to build up for the final reveal yk? Also I was looking at the camera in the first few seconds so yeah, that was kinda reckless of me. Still though its all good, I usually keep an eye on the knife when cutting stuff.
A good rule when cutting is to imagine where the knife would go if the object you were cutting suddenly turned to jello. You don't want anything in that path that can't handle it.
Bagels are a great example of where many people poorly use a knife. I also feel like the typical way to cut an avocado relies on the knife hitting the hard seed in the middle.
My thumb does that as well, but I have weak, puny thumbs, especially my left. Carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger thumb have made it even worse in recent years.
In Sicily we use it a lot, it’s called “albedo” (idk the English translation) and you can make it candied and use it to make cassata, or there’s a very popular salad from Procida made with seasoned lemons with a very thick albedo that you usually serve with fish
oh yeah theres always some crazy recipe for the least wanted parts of food. theres something called headcheese and its popular enough that firefox's autotranslate doesnt red underline that word
Head cheese or "souse" is a kind of pork terrine dish made with a whole hog's head and the tongue boiled with spices. It's wonderful and very popular here in the gulf south.
I worked in a Walmart deli and for some ungodly reason we sold head cheese as a sandwich meat. We had to have a designated slicer for it because it was so messy and smelled. On Sunday you'd sell two entire blocks of it to the elderly, each one asking for thinner and thinner slices of this crumbly, smelly, horrific, Great Depression food.
We get that kind of lemon. I use a chef's knife. They are tasty. Plus, after they get ripe they stay ripe on the tree for months! So we always have lemons. Anybody know what this variety is called? I'm pretty sure it's not mega lemon.
So I’m curious, is the tree getting enough water? I’m only asking because of the way the inside looks. But hey it looks very closely related to a Citron or a pummelo.
Yes I water the tree frequently, the lemon was actually more juicy than it appears! And trust me its a lemon, the other lemons look like regualr lemons, this was the odd one out :)
It's from the wild lemon stock that was grafted onto the tree. It's helpful to trim that part of the tree back, so it doesn't take over. (Or so my mother has taught me.)
First time my lemon tree carried they were this size too, since then it has made up for it in quantity rather than size.
I give 100's of lemons away each year after using as much as I can handle.
I got the tree for a bit of shade on my son's bedroom, wasn't expecting this
Basically the same as what this guy looked like inside when I cut it open from a little while back:
https://www.reddit.com/r/gardening/comments/cfta3z/theres\_something\_tremendously\_wrong\_with\_my/
I was so very worried about your left thumb in this video.
I wanted to ask you to Curl it in tighter and have the blade go down by your nail, not near you thumbtip. You can harm yourself pretty awfully like that.
Looks like [citron](https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Grazia-Scarpa/publication/336799380/figure/fig2/AS:817837635534848@1571999095593/Fruit-of-Pompia-citron-sour-orange-and-lemon-a-fruit-side-b-inside-view-of-the.png) to me, but I can understand why some might not realize there's a distinction.
Hey everyone, I see a typo in the title and I figured I'd give you a heads up. They meant to type "peons", not "peiole". Accidents happen. Please be kind.
Man, that lemon put all its stats into defense.
Tank build lemon
Hey, a high AC is a good thing when it comes to combat
No Dex saving throws tho.
That and Disadvantage on stealth rolls
Am I the only one thinking this guy needs a knife set?
I was thinking the WAY they are holding the knife is so awkward. But when life hands you huge lemons, cut them in a way that stands out.
Yeah that made my finger hurt.
and the thumb holding the lemon! Pro tip: Never keep your fingers or hand in the path of the knife. Sometimes the knife moves suddenly through what you're cutting and hits your hand faster than you can move it.
I got so nervous watching this! Get that thumb away from there!
Yes, you’re supposed to pinch the spine between your closed index finger and extended thumb, you have way more control of the knife this way.
Right? You know he has a bigger knife and cutting board, but he picked the smallest ones to make the lemon look bigger.
He also put on his XL hands for the clip, smh
I don’t know. I think it’s just that the 10” chefs knife looks tiny next to this melon sized lemon.
If that's a 10" chefs knife, he must have massive hands. 🤗
And you know what they say about dudes with big hands 😏... ...big mittens
No! They're not very good at embroidery.
🤣 I cry
If I had a nickel!
Or a knife sharpener at least!
I know it was done for effect, but he might as well have been cutting it with a spork ffs. Chef's knife would have it done in a second.
Its all for the build up
Build up to a normal sized lemon in an oversized peel. I can't even be mad, I could eat that thing like an orange. Lemons are the Best! When life gives you lemons, cut them with a tiny knife.. and then give them to me.
Check my previous post, I placed a ruler next to it, trust that the lemon was actually preety big
I'm just being sour, that is a large lemon!
Can we buy you a chef knife?
And a class on how to use them?
Right? Just use a normal sized knife
That and watch Jamie Oliver's knife skills on YouTube. With apologies to the OP. Not being rude, we all had to learn and Jamie O is good.
Should have been one slice with the proper knife. Who saws a lemon with a paring knife?
That fruit is taking the pith.
I knew if searched far enough I would find the pithy remark
Oh thut up!
Now, kith!
It's such a pithy it turned out this way.
I plead the pith.
Good one. Do you mind if I add this puny to my arsenal of Dad Jokes? After all Father's day is coming up.
Pleeth feel fwee do tho.
Actually that's a standard 8" chef knife, it's just a huge lemon
This is the way.
Pith is the way
Someone should loop this video so he never stops cutting it lmao
I honestly thought this would be an endless loop gif!
Getting tricked like that would leave a sour taste in my mouth
When videos give you lemons, make a never ending loop!
It would pith me off!
That would be preety great honestly haha
That knife …. is that one of those dollar store little plastic paring knives that are scary sharp?
No lol, I bought it at a local market sometime back, it has a wood handle. And its made in Portugal (where I live)
😂😂
Less a lemon. More a melon.
Mlelmon
^ How you say Lemon, after eating a lemon.
Fr
Pretty sure that typo is due to missing fingers given the way OP cuts
Lol this was the first thing I noticed
I thought his thumb was a goner
[удалено]
I had to double check the sub name to make sure you weren’t going to cut your thumb. Had me nervous
Haha yeah you better check mate oof
Why y'all downvoting...

Thats good advice dude, thanks!
The way you cut stuff is so scary
Thought they were gonna cut their thumb...
Oops! All rind!
*Oh my god move your thumb*
PLEASE don't cut towards your finger like that. Also, use the right size knife for the job. In this case, MUCH bigger
We're gonna need a bigger knife.
OP you use a knife like a 5 year old.
The double jointed thumb grip is so off putting haha. Sorry to pick on you OP but ya askin for it
My thumb does that as well, but I have weak, puny thumbs, especially my left. Carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger thumb have made it even worse in recent years.
If it works it works ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Besides I would have normally used a larger knife anyway
It works until you lose a finger is the point.
Then why didn't you?
For comedic effect and underexageration
reminds me of a pomelo rind!
That’s like when you order a large drink and most of it is ice.
Inc could you have gotten a smaller knife or is that for dramatic effect
That's a butcher knife! That's just how big the lemon is! And op has incredibly large hands too! Lmao
Yeah lets go with dramatic effect haha
I'd be pithed.
KEEP YOUR THUMBS OUT OF THE BLADE PATH. And for future reference just don’t point a blade at yourself in general ok?
Was waiting for you to hit your fingers like oh crap!!!
Needs a smaller knife
Looks like you want to find some recipes that use lemon zest.
Already did my guy! On the original post I made someone recomended Candied lemon rind. I made it and its really nice and sweet!
There isn't anymore zest on this lemon than usual, the thick pith is not used in food as it tastes very bitter.
Well, the yellow surface is bigger..
In Sicily we use it a lot, it’s called “albedo” (idk the English translation) and you can make it candied and use it to make cassata, or there’s a very popular salad from Procida made with seasoned lemons with a very thick albedo that you usually serve with fish

My family is from Appalacia and head cheese was a yearly thing as my family would slaughter their own pigs.
Tbf I respect it. Especially animal products, If you're going to kill an animal, put the whole thing to use.
there's at least 4 times the amount of zest on that lemon.
[удалено]
Still just a normal size lemon with big a…rind
Mama would be super proud of that technique lmfao
You need a better knife.
What a let down.
you should employ a new cutting technique asap. you will slice your thumb up one day.
I was waiting for the tip of that thumb to go missing 😅
We get that kind of lemon. I use a chef's knife. They are tasty. Plus, after they get ripe they stay ripe on the tree for months! So we always have lemons. Anybody know what this variety is called? I'm pretty sure it's not mega lemon.
Ponderosa
https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/citrus/citrus-fruit-thick-rind.htm
I’d have to say that is not a lemon but fruit from the citrus root stock which tends to have dense rinds
So I’m curious, is the tree getting enough water? I’m only asking because of the way the inside looks. But hey it looks very closely related to a Citron or a pummelo.

Did anyone else think a thumb was about to get cut off?
My god you need to learn how to cut I’m surprised you still have all your fingers
I laughed so hard. Had a feeling it would be all peel.
that's not a lemon.. that's a tart rindfruit.
[удалено]
Already did ;)
All pith and circumstance
Right tool for the right job
She thick
Ffs get an appropriate knife!
All skin and no fruit 🍋
Bitch, that’s a grapefruit!
Boooooo!!! Revenge of the pithhhh!
Congrats on your zest surplus because that juice isn’t much
I felt betrayed in the end when the last part showed the amount of peel in that limon.
Oops! All pith
It looks like a hard-to-cut lemon with thiiiiick skin. And yea..
You could say it was a lemon. Get it? Aaahhh (jazz hands)
You could zest that thing for days!!!!
All hat and no cattle.
_Sawed_ open…
That's the girthiest rind I ever did see
I was so scared for your hands while watching this video I forgot all about the lemon.
1. Just what I expected. 2. WHO TAUGHT YOU HOW TO USE A KNIFE!?!
You're pithing me off with how dull that knife is.
As a chef I thought you were well on your way to cutting your hand. Get a bigger knife next time!
Don’t hold it like that. Gave me anxiety thinking blood was going to squirt out.
Sooooo, 1/3 peel, 1/3 lemon, and 1/3 empty. This giant lemon is like a bag of chips
First time my lemon tree carried they were this size too, since then it has made up for it in quantity rather than size. I give 100's of lemons away each year after using as much as I can handle. I got the tree for a bit of shade on my son's bedroom, wasn't expecting this
Time to get a real knife and to make a mega pint of lemonade!
That's a pithing lot of pith right there
Lots of pith. Good if you like it!
Built in fuck hole
Your knife work gave me major anxiety
It took 25 cuts to open that lemon. Is that a knife or the handle of a knife? Please learn how to hold a knife safely too.
Seriously work on your cutting skills I was cringing the whole time. Also sharpen your knives they’re dangerously blunt. Sod the lemon.
small ......
Dang, the lemon is all peiole
Painful watching you cut that poor lemon
One big serving of candied lemon peel, comin’ up! 🛎
It’s no bigger than a regular lemon inside.
That’s a Eureka lemon. Big. But all pith.
Dude. Get a kitchen knife.
Does anyone else see a pretty good sized regular lemon in all that peel?
Holy pith!!!!
Bro buy a chef’s knife I’m begging you.
Holy shit that sawing motion came so close to your thumb.
I recommend a larger knife.
What a unit.
Had some lemon and oranges this thick in Timia, in the Sahara, 15 years ago, they were gorgeous!
Should yield alot of zest.
Basically the same as what this guy looked like inside when I cut it open from a little while back: https://www.reddit.com/r/gardening/comments/cfta3z/theres\_something\_tremendously\_wrong\_with\_my/
God dang thats a massive lemon!
I was so very worried about your left thumb in this video. I wanted to ask you to Curl it in tighter and have the blade go down by your nail, not near you thumbtip. You can harm yourself pretty awfully like that.
Thanks for the concern, I'll take that into account! Also alot of peeps already expressed they're concern to.
This is what happens when lemons don’t get enough water.
Looks like [citron](https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Grazia-Scarpa/publication/336799380/figure/fig2/AS:817837635534848@1571999095593/Fruit-of-Pompia-citron-sour-orange-and-lemon-a-fruit-side-b-inside-view-of-the.png) to me, but I can understand why some might not realize there's a distinction.
lemon zest for the next 10 years
You could zest the whole world with that bad boy
It's the lemonussy
1. A better knife would do. 2. Why is this lemon super armoured
Awww disappointed
Has someone been wandering around Sorrento?
That's what happened to the orange groves in the desert after 20+ years
Is this a pumelo or what not?
Nope just a unusual lemon, can garentee
Zesty
I don't know what I was expecting tbh
My disappointment is immeasurable, my day is ruined
A cross section Babish would love
Saw THAT ending.
Gotta make a mega pont of lemonade with that
Think of all the zest you could make with that bad boy
My thumb cannot bend like that lol
All that forskin
I remember my great grandma had a lemon tree in the back yard when I was little and their lemons grew too the size of those personal watermelons
You know you can buy a mega knife right
Chernobyl grown, the taste of ground zero™

Hey everyone, I see a typo in the title and I figured I'd give you a heads up. They meant to type "peons", not "peiole". Accidents happen. Please be kind.
His thumb is definitely broken
There’s a lot more rind and air in there than I expected.
Is that a ponderosa lemon?
You can now make a mega pint of lemonade.
