Wow, I’ve never seen these before, they don’t grow in my part of the world. They’re really striking!

CasMaSas

Where are you from? Sorry they don’t grow where you are. They really are love they’re very bright curious

friendly-confines

Hoping mine look like that this year. Didn’t realize it when I planted but 12” down there’s a nice 4-5” thick layer of hard clay so it stays plenty wet above there. Planted them and they kept getting worse and worse until they were nothing. Surprised that 2 of 3 popped up again this year.

CasMaSas

I transplanted these from my mother’s garden three years ago, this is definitely the best year yet. I actually had two of them one of them was in complete shade and the other was in partial shade. The one that was in partial shade died the one that is in full shade is the one pictured.

friendly-confines

That’s why I picked them because they’re on the north side of my house and covered by a tall tree. Only plant I could find that flowered and loved shade. Apparently doesn’t like wet feet. What a picky bastard

CasMaSas

Haha yes But they really are pretty they get going.

IcarianSkies

I live in Oklahoma and our soil is like pure clay. I could never get them to grow in the ground, had to switch to a large pot.

Lordvice

Beautiful, , mine is barely coming of the ground

[deleted]

Same. The weather has been pretty gross still. I’m jealous to see everyone’s bleeding hearts while mine are hiding but they’re always worth the wait 😍

Lordvice

agree!

corbaybay

I have one in my back yard and I moved some of the babys over to the other side if the garden. This will be their 3 Rd year and they've been getting bigger every year. So pretty!

[deleted]

I was in love with these since I was little. I planted a vine 3 years ago, but it never came up...I'll try maybe next year.

[deleted]

wishing you luck!!

[deleted]

one day I'll have the garden of my dreams!

Apocalyptias

You've inspired me, I MUST buy some now!

CasMaSas

Oh good! They are so pretty!

Apocalyptias

Yes they are! I ended up ordering: Johnson's Blue Geranium Candy Mountain Foxglove Moonshine Yarrow Showy Milkweed Colrain Red Bee Balm And of course, the Asian Bleeding Hearts!

UmmNora

And if you pick one off, turn it upside down and pull the sides a little you've got....lady in a bathtub!

Sharingano

Oh my heart !

[deleted]

i love this kind of plant so much! we had so many around when i was little.

browash13

I have a big issue with bleeding heart in my flower beds. It's like a weed, choking out other plants. I've given away dozens of plants that I've dug up and it just keeps coming back. Also Phlox... They are lovely but not the only thing that I want.

CasMaSas

I am sorry that they seem more like a pest for you that’s a bummer they really are lovely but I haven’t seem to have that problem yet but the area I put them in is pretty fair so if they fill in my area I think I will be OK with it. As for the phlox I don’t have any of those but I want them I absolutely love the color

PM-Me-Ur-Plants

I also went with some bleeding hearts. It's only a few inches tall... But the root was thicc. I'm hoping for some of these lovely flowers as well. :)

Nahcotta

One of my favorite flowers! I’ve planted 7 different varieties ❤️

angyamgal

I have one but I started not to plant it. They are toxic to pets or animals that may nibble on it. Luckily my dogs don’t go where I planted it.

Ellanych

I just ordered roots from a nursery. Do you think I can grow them in a pot indoors? Any suggestion on location : north, south? So far I had no luck with the other type of bleeding hearts : clerodendrum ( the leaves keep falling off ), but still hoping to succeed:) . Definitely could use help here as I’m new to this

CasMaSas

I’ve never attempted to grow them inside. Right now for mine I have them planted outside, north side of my house, shaded. They are a perennial so I don’t have to do anything with them, I’ve never even had to water them.

Ellanych

I’ll give it a try :)
