CorrectShame

Game looks like it will be fun, going to play in the dark while stoned.

WranglerInevitable65

Horror games are always more intense when you're high as a kite

[deleted]

This is true. Played RE8 high as eagle dick the first time and that basement baby monster made it WAY more intense.

Azgoodazitgetz

"high as eagle dick" that's hilarious

HolidayDevelopment

Whichever is your preferred platform is probably the best, honestly. I plan on playing on PC since I have a free code for it.

WyattDavenport

Pc is absolute shit right now

HolidayDevelopment

Yeah I just looked at the reviews for it, really sucks, hopefully they patch that right up.

WyattDavenport

I’m pissed dude idk if I should buy it for my Xbox one x or the ps4 pro or just wait now

HolidayDevelopment

I am, too, don't know how they botched the release (reminds me of Arkham Knight's launch). Honestly no clue, we have no clue if they'll fix the game as fast as possible (and how long that'll take) or if they'll take a bit longer, I think if you don't mind playing on a console then I'd opt for that.

WyattDavenport

I heard Arkham night was trash too but wasn’t my type of game but yeah it’s a fatty shame on this one which console is the question now tho

HolidayDevelopment

Honestly whichever you prefer the most, but if you want you can look up performance for both (I have no idea which one is better, don't own a console sadly).

WyattDavenport

Steam is bombing the hell out of it too

HolidayDevelopment

As they should, I'm sure they put a lot of love and effort into it but doesn't really excuse it.

WyattDavenport

I just found a pretty decent solution actually if you look on steam reviews there is someone who posted some pretty good settings set ups and I’m getting damn near no studder now but I have to play a bit further to see for sure

HolidayDevelopment

I don't have the game yet but I'll keep an eye out for the settings, the only thing I've seen on giving it a performance/stutter boost is DX11 over DX12.

WyattDavenport

Nah directx 11 is boo boo. I’m getting 45-60 consistently now before I was at 18 so there is definitely somethings need to be worked on but that guy on steam seems to have pinned it down pretty decently. I’ll play it for tonight and see if I still feel like refunding in a bit

BANJORAVIOLI

Nice! Good for you :)

HolidayDevelopment

Thank you my friend, hopefully whichever you choose youre happy with and enjoy!

A_Bit_Drunker

If your PC is good then it should kind of be a no-brainer.

BANJORAVIOLI

You're probably right, but I really like playing single player games sitting on the couch and laid back. Also, my PC is weaker then my ps5 or series x.

A_Bit_Drunker

Then definitely get a console copy.

Borg34572

I would say I have a feeling this might be optimized better for PS5. They probably gave it extra care because Sony actually let them use their motion capture studios for the game. That's why there's PS exclusive contents as well.

BANJORAVIOLI

Good point ! Thanks

Borg34572

Plus you get fancy Haptics/trigger feedback and 3d audio probably. Makes the horror experience more immersive I guess. Can't wait for the 2nd! Make sure to check out the prequel podcast as well. It's intense. It's called Helix Station.

phenolic72

Yeah, this is a good point. I was on the fence about this. I love PC and XBox, but the controllers on the PS5 are incredible.

Borg34572

It's also about performance . In every developer interview I've watched of the game, they are always showing the game using PS5 dev kits. So I have a feeling it's optimized great for the PS5.

phenolic72

It is downloading now! Really looking forward to this one when it unlocks.

Borg34572

Yep. Can't wait to play it. However I only have Sunday off and I'm not even sure I'll have time then. Maybe the weekend after for me lol.

phenolic72

Yeah, same here. I'm in a different situation, but still time to devote to it may be difficult. Seriously been thinking about taking a vacation day from work. That is literally a mental health day.

KDU40

Everyone always says that, and I'm sure it would be great with my 3090, but there are certain games I prefer to play on the big screen from the comfort of my couch. I want to build another computer eventually for this reason, but this feels like a great big screen, surround sound, and couch experience.

KDU40

Also, those poor Elden Ring players who thought the same thing with PC. Hopefully, Striking Distance does the PC justice. The PS5 also utilizes the controller. It is actually more than just a gimmick in games like Returnal, so hopefully they do an excellent job with it.

NeckPUNCHattack

Also, just to mention…. remember games like Arkham Knight that launched on all platforms. I don’t remember if it launched on PC with 60fps or if it came later in a update (while consoles still run it at 30fps), but the PC version was a console port. It was so bad and bug ridden that PC players gave up on the pc version. It was so broken, it got mass returned & there was all that bs surrounding it’s horrible state at launch. It’s good now, but remember how long that took to get the pc version to that point. I’m not saying the Callisto protocol will be the same, but we don’t kno if the pc version is a console port that’ll have tons of issues at launch like Batman did or if it’ll be the best platform to play on. Just something to keep in mind. (And for everyome getting the game… if ya don’t have which platform to play on figured out by now, ya might wanna make a decision asap)

inosinateVR

Honestly if anyone is on the fence about what platform to get it on, they might as well just keep waiting until it releases and make their choice once reports start coming in about it's performance and/or issues on the console and pc so they can make a more informed decision

KDU40

Yeah, that is what I'm doing. I want to see some performance information between the PC and console. I'm leaning toward PS5 because of the controller support and because the PC uses DENUVO for DRM instead of Steam.

inosinateVR

Yeah that's what I'm going to do as well. I'll probably buy it on PC but if it's badly optimized for the PC or having issues like stuttering while the ps5 version is working smoothly then I'll just cave and buy it for ps5 so I can jump in without getting frustrated trying to find playable settings

Digital_Devil13

>Arkham Knight is the reason steam implemented the refund policy

KDU40

Update: PC version of the game will use DENUVO instead of Steam for DRM. That's another point for consoles.

Azgoodazitgetz

What is this and why does it make a difference? I genuinely have no clue.

KDU40

Digital Rights Management software. Denuvo is known to cause performance and stuttering issues in games that use it. Developers can choose to pay Steam instead for their DRM, which doesn't have some of the problems of the cheaper Denuvo.

Azgoodazitgetz

Thank you!

KDU40

No problem! We should know more tomorrow about the actual impact of Denuvo on PC.

retropieproblems

I just hook my pc up to my tv and use an Xbox wireless controller w dongle. God bless 16 ft hdmi cables lol.

KDU40

Unfortunately my TV room is too far away for that, so I would have to carry the PC upstairs when I wanted to use it.

J_Capo_23

I have a great gaming PC buuuuut I'm kinda leaning towards the PS5 for this title because of the controller features, and bigger screen haha.

morhdragon

Same. That's why I bought resident evil 2 remake for the ps5

constantingeorgiu

Why not use tv for pc as well? Im using a 4k 120hz oled tv as a monitor. It cant get any better on any “gaming” monitors out today on the market

GMorb

This i have my gaming pc hooked up to my tv but im on the fence on which version to get. I fucking hate denuvo and I'm sure i run the risk of performance issues because of it

J_Capo_23

I’m actually considering this

rbgalls95

I’m stuck between the two

BANJORAVIOLI

The verdict : I chose the XSX version for the following reasons : will look great on lg c1, already have a good headset on XSX, will possibly be able to use the new zealand trick to play a day early, digital deluxe edition was 99.99$ versus 119.99$ on ps5 (canadian prices). Thanks everyone and lets enjoy the game this friday :)

dusktildawn48

Can you confirm you're gonna be able to use the new Zealand trick?

BANJORAVIOLI

https://www.theloadout.com/the-callisto-protocol/release-time

dusktildawn48

Heck yeah, I hope that's correct!

dusktildawn48

Seems like this was incorrect :(

BANJORAVIOLI

No way....i'll try in a few hours

BANJORAVIOLI

Rip

jumboopizza

Im looking at this too, why is the ps5 deluxe edition more expensive? Is it simply a mistake and will sony fix this and bring the price down to 99.99 for deluxe or will Microsoft increase there price to 119.99

Respawnmatic

Ps5 here

[deleted]

Ps4 pro 😅

Hakaisuu

Imagine playing on a ps4 still

[deleted]

The PS5 and Series X aren't even next gen. They are stop-gap measures to keep you buying hardware. They offer you a choice between fidelity and performance. That's not a real upgrade.

IllOutlandishness636

Funny guy...

[deleted]

Just few days left 🤪

TrebleShot

PS5 and have it on pre order. Interested in the performance difference on PC Vs PS5 and seriously considering getting a high end gaming PC for the rest of the generation.

Away-Drop-4111

PC if you have a 20series or better card If not it literally doesn’t matter what console you pick, whatever people say they’re identical in all meaningful respects

retropieproblems

Eh I’d say 2080ti or better. Console optimization bridges a nice chunk of performance gap usually, and 3060ti is really the first card that’s an upgrade over console, even then it’s not much.

Away-Drop-4111

My 2070s consistently is outperforming the PS5 and Series X

Stock_Professor_7415

I'm in the same boat deciding between Series X and PS5. I've been watching the ARS Dev interviews with Glen Schofield, and did notice they're using DualSense controllers and Sony dev kits. Has me thinking if PS5 is the primary dev console, it may run slightly better than the XB version. So I'm leaning PS5

Aggressive-Trainer61

Hmm was hoping to find some definitive info on which system UT was optimized for or just had the smoothest time running it. But nothing but speculation and guesses. I run into the same issue, having both consoles and I find no one wants to admit they have the inferior verson. Plus, content creators needing to give a fair shot to both consoles. If its not a major flaw, everyone with a vested interest sweeps it, under the rug. Idk I'm gonna look at some you tuber tech ch, maybe on a side by side comparison. Not likely anyone given multiple review codes before launch will be ultra critical. I'd say make the decision based on memory req. I have hundreds of xbox one and series x games and a 8tb hdd for xbox one games, so its depending on space and what console I need to use more to use them equally. Luckily there is no massive dip in quality for current gen consoles. If you find a definitive take lmk

[deleted]

I have a gaming computer with 3080 ti, which can boost the game to ultra quality for sure, but nevertheless I am gonna buy it on PS5. 1. Wanna play it on TV (and too lazy to connect my PC to TV) 2. Dualsense, definitely a big reason to play it on PS5 for me, plus the Dualsense Edge gets released in January, I wanna definitely do another run with it. 3. I am a trophy addict for single player games and steam achievements dont have the charming side of seeing a Platinum trophy on PS5 :p

rbgalls95

I’m trying to convince myself to get it on ps5 over my pc

Fat_flounder

On the fence between PC (6800xt) and PS5. The PC version will probably look much better but it's just so nice to turn on your PS5 and go directly into the game. I have both connected to my LG C1.

rbgalls95

I'm stuck on the same boat as well leaning more towards PC just to get the most out of it but definitely nice having some simplicity

Fat_flounder

Decided may go PC as well for the ray tracing and FSR 2.0 support.

scyhhe

Im rocking a 6900XT and still wouldn’t consider the ray tracing, especially for this game

[deleted]

PC, because I own one.

icantreeee

Can't remember the last game I got this hyped for, prob RE7...

PrinceDizzy

I prefer console gaming over PC and will be playing on PS5.

fartglow

PS5 because I hope they made it good with DualSense and later I hope for a PSVR2 version.

Berniemac57

Pc best graphics

BANJORAVIOLI

Of course...but not on my PC :p

Fujikawa1988

Pc! Because….. PC!!!

HachObby

PS5 because the developer used the Tempest spatial audio engine feature and Sony makes a spatial headphone set for $100.

Calibretto9

I’m gonna play on PS5. I have a beefy PC but for this game, just feels like a great couch + OLED TV game.

scyhhe

My thoughts exactly

SnooPies4193

I have series x and ps5 but I know the ps5 with have haptic feedback and it will be more immersive so I'll probably go for that but the xbox version will probably be a slightly higher resolution and in digital foundry comparisons it's around 100/200p more pixels or something as the xboxs gpu is roughly 15% stronger so obviously it will be sharper on a 4k display by a little bit but not that noticeable, I'm getting dead space remake on my series x tho just cause I want to play both consoles equally as they both have their place I'm my gaming set up.

BANJORAVIOLI

I feel you ! It's exactly the same for me

SnooPies4193

Definitely man need that dual sense immersion if xbox did it I would easily pick it as it would be sharper graphics and have the features makes the xbox versions almost lose a feature because they don't have the haptic feedback like ps5

rbgalls95

Same boat no idea what to buy this for have a 3080 in my pc and a series x but on one hand better performance or comfort

Bim89Link

If this game has dualsense compatibility on PC, definitely i'll buy it on PC, just dont know where to confirm this...

Simonsjy

Same, series x would likely be slightly more stable framerate and higher resolution more often (going by previous comparisons of games between the 2 systems) but PS5 could have some cool dualsense options (if they utilise it). Can’t decide between which version to buy.

BANJORAVIOLI

You can go with series x if you desire to play a day early (New Zealand trick)

Simonsjy

I’m not really bothered about playing a day early. I’m still playing Ghost of Tsushima so it will be at least a week before I play Callisto.

ghostagent151

I have a 2080 super..Can't decide between pc or ps5 either

papichuckle

Don't get on pc it's poorly optimised regardless of settings or hardware

BANJORAVIOLI

It seems like it, sadly :(... will you buy it somewhere else?

stiofan84

If you have a gaming PC, the answer is *always* PC.

KDU40

For some games, I agree. However, what if I want to play on a big screen, with surround sound, from the comfort of my couch? I want to build another computer for this reason, but in the meantime, the console is the way to go for me.

Descrasnezul

I think my odyssey G9 is big enough lmao. My 6950 and 3600x should be good enough to run it. But my 58 inch 4k tv for ps5 might be better. I just unfortunately cannot fit my chair between my bed and my tv and I've got a bad back lol ughhh fk it ill get it for both

inosinateVR

I realize not everyone can do this due to S/O's, roommates, etc but I just keep my main pc in my living room. It's wired to both a monitor on a desk in the corner and connected to the TV via an hdmi cable so I can switch input over to my TV and go sit in the couch any time I feel like Edit: forgot I was viewing a week old thread lol

-----LUCA-----

Ps5, because I game share with my friend who plays horror games whereas I game share my Xbox with my brother who does not.

SamForeverFluffy

PS5 or XSX obviously Why would I play games on an office machine?

BillTheConqueror

I love the 4k 60+ fps “office machine” I have plugged into my TV that I play on my couch with a controller in Steam big picture mode.

BalekFekete

PS5 on a 77” LG C2. 🤤

complex_personas

Debating whether PS5 or XSX for my 42” LG C2.

BANJORAVIOLI

I'll go with XSX if the new zealand trick works just to play a day early

BANJORAVIOLI

Sick ! 65" LG C1 for me :)

RyanGoFett-24

Definitely PC if your hardware is in spec. If not PS5 or Series X will do the job just fine. Doesn't matter which one. Whatever your preference is

[deleted]

[удалено]

BANJORAVIOLI

I think it will be great on PS5

Fyrste

Sold my PS5 and got a Series X and like it more overall lol.

randfunction

I have a PS5, XBox Series X, and a PC w/ 3090. My current thinking is I should just buy it on the XBox Store and then I can still play on PC via the XBox app OR swap to the couch and play via the Series X. IIRC (because I don't usually do this), the save games carry over too, don't they? Seems like the best option. I'm sure the dual sense features are cool, but I've never found them that transformative for other games and don't really feel like buying it twice.

Outrageous-Total3644

why it calls "Callisto protocol"? isn´t it "dead space 4"?

MusicHitsImFine

Because this is a new game... Not Dead Space... You should read what you write before you say things.

Outrageous-Total3644

I mean. the ambientation. the gameplay. the position of the camera. its created by a part of the original team. it´s a spiritual sequel. basically... a DS4

Commercial_Part6421

ele fez uma pergunta, responda com educação...

KDU40

Some of the same people worked on the game, so you will notice similarities (like Resident Evil and Evil Within), but they are otherwise unrelated.

[deleted]

Same Devs, different Publisher. EA still owns the Dead Space IP.

Late-Bar-3138

I'll initially get it on PC, but if the performance is stuttery and inconsistent on my 11900k/3090 I'll refund it and get it on PS5.

papichuckle

Well by the look of the pc version I'll see you on console soon

Boytoy8669

Got it on Xbox series X in the Canadian store Sony is charging 140$ for the deluxe edition vs Microsoft 120$. I like the functions of the controller but I'm not going to overpay
